00:00We go rapid-fire around a full Wednesday slate in Major League Baseball.
00:0515 games, all 30 clubs on the diamond in action today,
00:09and eight of them during your afternoon hours.
00:12That includes Mark Zinno, the hottest team in all of Major League Baseball,
00:16the Philadelphia Phillies.
00:18Seven straight wins at this moment.
00:20The Phils have won 11 in a row at home.
00:23Day baseball at the bank, where with Etrinola on the bump,
00:27the Phils are favored at minus 164 to make it eight victories in a row.
00:33Will the Phitons do that today against the Blue Jays?
00:37I'd like to think so.
00:39I mean, if I'm going to bet this,
00:41the only thing I would probably bet here is the Phillies' team total over.
00:45Nobody, and I mean nobody, has scored more runs at home
00:50in the last three weeks in Major League Baseball than the Philadelphia Phillies,
00:54including the ten runs they scored last night.
00:56Chris Bassett is usually a reliable starter,
00:58but he's much better at home than he is on the road in his last home start.
01:02He got rocked.
01:03So not a great spot to want to back Bassett and the Blue Jays here.
01:07If Nola is his typical self, he should be good, good enough.
01:11But I just look at the Phillies right now and say,
01:13is this a Toronto team that I think can truly shut down their bats
01:18for the course of eight, maybe even nine innings here?
01:21And I really don't think that's the case.
01:23This isn't a Toronto bullpen that I have a ton of faith in per se,
01:28but yeah, I would play Phillies over four and a half here.
01:32Yeah, you take a look at both of those pitchers there.
01:34Bassett and Nola struggling with left-handed batters,
01:36which again, Bryce Harper, three straight games with home runs.
01:39If he starts today, can he make it four straight games?
01:41We'll find out in just a little bit.
01:43740 starts tonight.
01:44Seattle, Minnesota runs last night, but today Kirby's on the mound,
01:47taking on Paddock.
01:48A line here?
01:49It's de facto pick them.
01:50Minus 120, minus 102 splits here.
01:52We're currently updated in the favor here towards the Mariners in a total.
01:55Listen, only at seven and a half today.
01:57What are we looking at today between Seattle and Minnesota
01:59in your mind there, Mark?
02:01Guys, how much faith do we have in the Twins
02:04and the offense that showed up for the 12-game win streak
02:07to stay somewhat above what they've normally been?
02:10I mean, this is a spot really hit right now
02:13where it's kind of hard for me to back Minnesota
02:15because I don't know if that 12-game stretch was more of a fantasy
02:19and not reality of who they really are,
02:21and it was just kind of, you know, a zone, a 12-game stretch
02:24where they were just better than everybody else,
02:26or this is now an offense that's starting to come around
02:28that you can trust to score more than three and a half runs per game
02:31that can push four to five runs per game on a routine basis.
02:35Because if they can do that, this is a legitimate threat in the American League.
02:39We've always known the Twins have had the pitching to compete.
02:42We just, you know, the offense has always sort of struggled.
02:45So I'm curious to see how this Twins team reacts
02:48over the course of the next couple of games and series or two,
02:51whether their at-bats are going to continue.
02:53But they're facing a tough pitcher in Kirk
02:55and a guy with a 1.04 whip who doesn't put many runners on,
02:58so it won't be easy for the Twins today.
03:01Sometimes when I see this seven and a half as a total, guys,
03:04I try not to run from you, especially in the first five.
03:06I'll roll the dice and take the first five three and a half under.
03:09Zeno, the American League Central, better than maybe we expected entering this year.
03:14It does feature the worst team in baseball, the Chicago White Sox,
03:17but that was expected.
03:19The other four teams, at least two games above .500 or better.
03:22That includes both the Tigers and the Guardians.
03:25They baseball in the land today, where the Tigers won 11-7 yesterday over Cleveland.
03:31But Cleveland ain't home favorite today, minus .138 on that money line.
03:36Who gets a dub today in Cleveland?
03:39I mean, is Reese Olsen one of the more unlucky starters
03:43in Major League Baseball to this point?
03:45He's got an ERA of 2.7 and a whip of 1.2, and he's 0-4 on the year.
03:50The Tigers have lost all five of his starts because, well,
03:53they've scored a combined eight runs in those five starts across the entire game,
03:58not just while he was in the game.
04:00And, oh, by the way, one of those games that Olsen pitched,
04:05he gave up six earned runs in the first start of the year.
04:07The last four starts he's given up two earned runs or less.
04:10So he's been phenomenal here.
04:12The Tigers just don't hit when he pitches.
04:14I say this all the time.
04:16I don't know why specific pitchers get better run support than others,
04:19but Reese Olsen doesn't get any.
04:21So tough back for me in this spot.
04:24Seven and a half is the total today in the land.
04:27Quickly here, Zeno, how do you evaluate the American League Central,
04:30knowing it might be a little bit more competitive than we thought before the season?
04:34As Cleveland have their bats cooled off, again, this is another thing.
04:39Cleveland got to this point in the season because they tore the cover off the ball
04:43for the first five weeks of the Major League Baseball season.
04:46Maybe starting to see a little bit of regression here from the Guardians.
04:51You look across their past couple of games,
04:53it's a little bit sketchy to see whether they're going to continue to put up runs
04:56at the pace they were.
04:57If they do, they're going to run away with this division.
05:00A little bit of a shift in those odds.
05:02The Twins right now live on FanDuel, plus 140.
05:06Now the favorites once again, five cents in front of the Guardians.
05:10Minnesota won the American League Central last year
05:13and were the divisional favorites entering this season.
05:16Mark Zeno, or Zeno, no, Zeno, thank you so much.
05:19We'll talk very soon.
