00:00:00 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:00:05 Can you say hard hats, folks?
00:00:07 Hard hats, munch pails, steel tool boots.
00:00:09 Anything short of a championship this year is a failure.
00:00:11 Look at this boomer right here.
00:00:13 You've just got so much talent here.
00:00:16 Somebody's saying we need to apologize for Jaylen.
00:00:18 Can I pull the John?
00:00:19 What are we apologizing for?
00:00:20 What did we say?
00:00:21 What did we do?
00:00:22 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:00:25 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:00:30 Yeah.
00:00:32 Jimmy, I will allow it.
00:00:34 Hard hat.
00:00:35 Hard hat.
00:00:36 Hard hats.
00:00:37 Here we go, folks.
00:00:40 New job site coming.
00:00:42 New job site coming for the Celtics.
00:00:44 Came to work tonight, punched the clock.
00:00:45 All they had to do, Sherrod, was punch the clock.
00:00:47 But he couldn't even punch in tonight.
00:00:49 They couldn't even feel--
00:00:50 No, they got punched out.
00:00:52 They got punched out.
00:00:53 That's what happened.
00:00:53 They couldn't punch in, but they got punched out.
00:00:55 The Celtics punched the clock.
00:00:56 Absolutely.
00:00:57 Hard hats all night long.
00:00:58 Derek White showed up again in this one.
00:01:00 Jaylen Brown, Jason Tatum, the usual suspect,
00:01:03 showed up to work.
00:01:04 And the Celtics move on to the second round.
00:01:06 In five games, a gentlemen sweep.
00:01:08 It's not a gentleman sweep.
00:01:09 It's not a gentleman sweep.
00:01:10 John, correct him, John.
00:01:12 Correct him, John.
00:01:12 Check him.
00:01:14 Check him, John.
00:01:14 Go ahead, do it.
00:01:15 It's not a gentleman sweep.
00:01:17 I'm just thinking of more punch puns
00:01:19 that we can throw out for the rest of the show.
00:01:21 Oh, there will be more.
00:01:24 There will be more.
00:01:25 Yes, feeling punchy already.
00:01:27 We're early in the show.
00:01:28 And that's it.
00:01:29 Ding dong, it was a head.
00:01:32 Never a doubt.
00:01:33 Never a doubt.
00:01:35 It really wasn't, even though there was some consternation.
00:01:39 And again, any concern anyone had over the Celtics this series
00:01:43 had nothing to do with winning this series.
00:01:45 It had to do with, can we get serious here and focus
00:01:49 on the fact that you're in the playoffs and let's lock in.
00:01:52 Let's lock in.
00:01:52 So yes, hard hat effort tonight.
00:01:54 And again, Miami had to show up knowing that they were just
00:01:57 dead, dead, dead.
00:01:59 Because--
00:02:00 They had HR.
00:02:00 HR was just waiting for them when they showed up today.
00:02:03 Yeah, exactly.
00:02:04 Like, please step into my office.
00:02:07 It was one of those days.
00:02:09 Yeah, it's not going to go well for you.
00:02:11 It's not going to go well.
00:02:12 We do want to let you know that the Garden Report is brought
00:02:15 to you by PrizePix, America's number one fantasy sports

00:02:32 Sorry, Heat fans.
00:02:33 --final sponsors.
00:02:34 You won't be needing game time anytime soon.
00:02:36 But everybody else--
00:02:37 You won't be needing game time anytime soon.
00:02:38 Stay with us.
00:02:38 We'll tell you how to sign up.
00:02:40 You see it on the screen.
00:02:41 Use that code $20 off your first purchase.
00:02:44 Terms apply.
00:02:46 With game time, you want to get to those conference.
00:02:48 You want to get to round two?
00:02:50 Going to cost you.
00:02:51 It's going to be hard to get a ticket.
00:02:52 Game time might be the spot for you.
00:02:54 But let's talk about the game itself.
00:02:57 And again, how much to analyze this game?
00:03:01 Really, it was what you expected it to be.
00:03:05 And that was a freaking blowout.
00:03:07 And now the Celtics are going to play the winner of the Cavs
00:03:10 Magic Series in round two.
00:03:13 We'll talk about that, preview those matchups.
00:03:15 Which one do you prefer?
00:03:17 If you have a preference or not, does it even matter?
00:03:20 Chris F. Porzingis updates.
00:03:21 Not really updates, but we'll talk about KP.
00:03:24 We'll talk about your second center.
00:03:27 How good is that?
00:03:31 He's your second center.
00:03:32 Oh, Dick, can we just not--
00:03:33 He will be your center.
00:03:35 The most audacious thing that happened tonight
00:03:37 is Bobby Manning tweets about Luke's plus minus.
00:03:41 Luke being a plus 20 while scoring zero points
00:03:44 and riding the coattails of a Jason Tatum, Sam Hauser
00:03:48 barrage of the Heat's G League second unit team.
00:03:52 I would have been a plus 20.
00:03:53 Right out of there.
00:03:55 Exactly.
00:03:55 But he set some great screens, John.
00:03:57 The screens were great.
00:03:59 I know.
00:03:59 He's a great screen setter.
00:04:01 Bobby's going to make me say bad things about Luke,
00:04:04 and I don't want to.
00:04:05 We're glad it worked out the way it did.
00:04:07 But Bobby's going to bring that out in me.
00:04:09 I'm just letting you know.
00:04:10 Let's wait, because we're going to have
00:04:11 to talk about him later tonight.
00:04:12 We've already said too much.
00:04:14 It's not possible.
00:04:14 And we'll be making an appearance in this show.
00:04:18 Cornette Kim.
00:04:19 It's not personal.
00:04:20 So we talk about this--
00:04:23 I feel like we've talked about every game.
00:04:26 What matters is not what happened tonight.
00:04:28 It's what matters the next night.
00:04:30 And I think that's very apropos just for this series,
00:04:33 because it really was a one-on-one-off sort of night.
00:04:36 I think masked in game four, the blowout,
00:04:41 because the Heat were just brutal,
00:04:42 was that Celtics didn't play a clean game there either.
00:04:45 And you wanted to see them play with a little bit more
00:04:47 dog in them, a little bit more aggressive.
00:04:49 Sherrod, overall, did you like it, or just the shots fall?
00:04:53 Was this better?
00:04:54 Was this cleaner?
00:04:54 Were the executors more focused?
00:04:58 This was the best game of the series.
00:05:00 It was-- to me, it was as close as I've
00:05:02 seen them play at both ends of the floor,
00:05:05 close to their potential.
00:05:06 They could definitely play better than they did tonight.
00:05:08 And again, look at the previous games they've won.
00:05:12 They're beating the snot out of Miami by 20 points
00:05:14 and playing C, C-minus basketball.
00:05:17 This was more B-minus for the Celtics.
00:05:20 Because again, I still--
00:05:22 Jalen Brown, I thought, had a great game offensively,
00:05:24 really efficient, four turnovers, one assist,
00:05:27 did not like that.
00:05:28 Tatum didn't shoot the ball particularly well,
00:05:30 but he was a beast on the board.
00:05:31 So I would have put his fourth double-double in five games.
00:05:34 Derek White had it going on.
00:05:36 Sam Hauser made big shots.
00:05:39 They got-- they're moving in the right direction.
00:05:42 But this team still has room to grow and play better
00:05:46 going forward.
00:05:47 But to me, that's the thing that makes this team so special.
00:05:50 They did not have a good series that they
00:05:52 won it in five games.
00:05:54 I don't know if there are a lot of teams in the NBA that
00:05:57 can play below their average level of play
00:06:00 and put a team away in five games.
00:06:03 Yeah, they cut against the heat.
00:06:04 And that was the one thing that I think a lot of us
00:06:06 said, Sherrod, before the series,
00:06:07 was that Celtics can get away with making
00:06:09 mistakes against the heat.
00:06:11 So again, they were kind of damned if they do,
00:06:13 damned if they don't.
00:06:14 They beat the heat fairly easily.
00:06:17 And we say, well, of course they beat the heat.
00:06:19 The Heat shot 10% from three-point range.
00:06:22 Anybody's going to beat the Heat.
00:06:24 But if they lose to the Heat, we're
00:06:25 saying, what's wrong with this team?
00:06:27 These guys can't beat a team like the Heat.
00:06:30 So they were kind of screwed either way in this series.
00:06:32 I think at the end of the day, it ended--
00:06:37 they beat them in five games.
00:06:38 However which way they do it, I think we all kind of expected
00:06:41 four or five games.
00:06:42 A couple of us here I won't name.
00:06:44 Thought maybe it would go six.
00:06:45 But regardless, I'm happy with this one
00:06:49 because I always criticize them.
00:06:52 Not always, but oftentimes, probably always criticize them
00:06:55 for not having that killer instinct.
00:06:57 When you see your prey flopping around on the ground,
00:07:02 just go in for the kill.
00:07:03 Just go in for the kill.
00:07:04 So tonight they did that.
00:07:05 They win by whatever it is, 34.
00:07:08 34, 44?
00:07:09 I'm not going to do that math.
00:07:10 34.
00:07:11 It's 34, homeschool.
00:07:12 12 wins away.
00:07:13 12 wins away.
00:07:14 There we go.
00:07:15 12 wins away.
00:07:16 You get the one, two, and then you carry the one,
00:07:18 and then you put it--
00:07:21 Yeah.
00:07:22 So--
00:07:23 They won by a lot.
00:07:24 To your point, answering your question, John, yeah.
00:07:26 You're happy with this win.
00:07:29 Again, all that.
00:07:30 It's a hard-hat win.
00:07:32 And listen, we understand that he'd had Joe Schmo playing.
00:07:36 I mean, literally, I mean, even--
00:07:39 you know, Hac-- what's his--
00:07:41 That's the lone right to you, Jimmy.
00:07:44 Who's the guy that sat tonight?
00:07:46 No, we're not telling you.
00:07:47 Hacquez?
00:07:48 Hacquez?
00:07:49 How do you say his name?
00:07:50 With UCLA.
00:07:51 Oh, Jimmy.
00:07:52 Yeah, that dude.
00:07:53 Anyways, with Butler, Rozier, everybody out,
00:07:56 they still took care of business.
00:07:58 Yeah.
00:07:59 They did not play down to the competition.
00:08:02 And they didn't let the competition get comfortable
00:08:04 or get into any kind of rhythm or anything like that.
00:08:07 And that's what you're supposed to do if you're the number one
00:08:09 seed.
00:08:10 You're not supposed to laugh.
00:08:11 Hacquell.
00:08:12 Sorry.
00:08:13 Sorry.
00:08:14 Beverly Hills Club.
00:08:17 Hacquell is here to see you.
00:08:20 That's what I was trying to think of when he was struggling
00:08:22 with Hacquez.
00:08:23 I was thinking of "Bronx Within Show."
00:08:25 I knew what I was--
00:08:26 Hacquell.
00:08:27 Hacquell.
00:08:28 Axel.
00:08:30 Jacquez.
00:08:30 Foley is here to see you.
00:08:32 Yes.
00:08:32 Oh, gosh.
00:08:35 "Bronx Within Show" should have been in more.
00:08:37 I'm just saying that.
00:08:38 Anyway, so Jimmy--
00:08:41 If you hang in next time, you can't think of a name.
00:08:44 Hacquez.
00:08:46 Like your own name.
00:08:47 You're getting up there.
00:08:48 I'm going to wait.
00:08:48 It'll happen.
00:08:49 [LAUGHTER]
00:08:51 I love it.
00:08:52 [LAUGHTER]
00:08:55 Jimmy, do you kick old man down the street, Jimmy?
00:08:58 Hey, welcome to the show.
00:09:00 You kick old man across the street?
00:09:01 Do you clip him?
00:09:02 This must be his first episode.
00:09:03 The thing is, Jimmy doesn't even work here.
00:09:06 We just-- he just shows up.
00:09:07 I just found the link.
00:09:09 I just find the link, dude.
00:09:12 He's Milton from "Office Space."
00:09:13 Like, we fired him like seven years ago.
00:09:16 But like, there was a glitch in the payroll,
00:09:18 and he just keeps showing up.
00:09:20 If Nick decides to audit the company like the Red Sox
00:09:22 are about to do--
00:09:23 [LAUGHTER]
00:09:24 I have a feeling I'm out of here, folks.
00:09:27 Yeah.
00:09:28 Yeah.
00:09:29 It is exactly right.
00:09:30 He's like, oh my god, I have been paying this guy, right?
00:09:33 The hard cat.
00:09:35 Hard hat is best--
00:09:36 You can't fire me.
00:09:37 I don't even work here.
00:09:38 Yeah.
00:09:39 Yeah, it's good.
00:09:41 Tatum, does Tatum need a groove back?
00:09:44 What's wrong?
00:09:46 Why does everyone think Tatum--
00:09:47 Tatum only took nine shots today.
00:09:50 But he finished a plus 35.
00:09:54 He's had four double doubles in--
00:09:56 yeah, he's had four double--
00:09:58 he's had one triple double, three
00:09:59 double doubles in five games.
00:10:01 You think he was limited by the ankle tonight
00:10:04 and decided to take it easy?
00:10:06 I think he realized--
00:10:07 Derek Wyatt-- to me, this is what should
00:10:09 have happened in game two.
00:10:11 That Mark and Melody--
00:10:12 When you feel like a guy that--
00:10:13 Sorry.
00:10:15 It's OK.
00:10:15 I like these guys.
00:10:16 I like these guys.
00:10:17 Yeah.
00:10:18 No, I don't think he was--
00:10:19 I don't think he was--
00:10:21 I don't think he was limited.
00:10:22 No.
00:10:23 I just think--
00:10:24 I like Mark and Melody.
00:10:25 Yeah, they like you, John.
00:10:28 And it didn't look like he was being passive.
00:10:30 It just looked like he recognized
00:10:31 other guys had it going.
00:10:33 And he just kind of just played defense, rebounded the ball,
00:10:36 and keep it moving.
00:10:38 Yeah.
00:10:39 I didn't think he was favorite at all,
00:10:41 particularly on defense.
00:10:42 I mean, I didn't think he was getting torched on defense.
00:10:45 It almost seemed at some point that he was just bored.
00:10:47 I thought he was good.
00:10:48 I just don't think he needed to score a ton.
00:10:50 He hit a few shots early.
00:10:51 Just that was it.
00:10:52 And then he did other things.
00:10:53 But again, he's part of that second unit that
00:10:56 drives the game up huge, the Bobby Cornett plus 20 unit.
00:11:00 That was regular season stuff there.
00:11:03 It was him with Hauser, Pritchard, Cornett,
00:11:06 and helped extend it.
00:11:09 And he played a good game.
00:11:10 So he just wasn't crazy aggressive
00:11:16 or trying to find a shot.
00:11:17 But that's fine, right?
00:11:21 I think we can't have it both ways with Tatum.
00:11:23 We've said a lot of times, he doesn't need to be the alpha.
00:11:26 He doesn't need to force.
00:11:27 We always talk about the Celtics giving games what it needs.
00:11:29 I'm not sitting here and criticizing
00:11:32 Tatum's performance tonight.
00:11:33 Nope.
00:11:33 Nothing to do with it.
00:11:35 Clip that.
00:11:37 I'm not going to do it.
00:11:38 I mean, the only thing that I didn't like
00:11:41 was the Frito shooting.
00:11:41 Frito shooting aside, everything else I was cool with.
00:11:44 But I mean, six for nine, he's better than that.
00:11:48 He shouldn't be shooting that bad.
00:11:50 Yeah.
00:11:52 That was the only thing I didn't like.
00:11:54 Yeah.
00:11:54 Where are the Heat fans?
00:11:56 This was-- the biggest audience we had was the one Heat win.
00:11:59 We needed more Heat wins just to jack the CLNS audience.
00:12:03 Because those idiots came in here taking a big ass--
00:12:06 one victory lap, one lap around the track.
00:12:09 And that's all they got.
00:12:11 But man, did they take it.
00:12:13 They were killing you guys in that one game.
00:12:15 They make up some count.
00:12:17 Yeah.
00:12:18 They owned this.
00:12:20 They got under your skin.
00:12:22 They were relentless.
00:12:23 They drove people out of here.
00:12:24 They took it over.
00:12:25 They did.
00:12:28 They kind of knew they had to unload it all in one game,
00:12:32 I think.
00:12:34 Oh, he's here.
00:12:37 Hydro Wilson.
00:12:37 Hey, what's up, Hydro Wilson?
00:12:40 Yeah.
00:12:42 There's some of them.
00:12:43 There's some of them here.
00:12:45 Heat and Six.
00:12:45 But anyway.
00:12:46 Is that like six minutes till they get to the airport
00:12:49 for 1, 2, 3 Cancun?
00:12:50 Oh, man.
00:12:51 What a terrible team this was.
00:12:52 And again, not their fault.
00:12:53 We got a good graphic, don't we?
00:12:56 Of what?
00:12:57 The Cancun?
00:12:58 The Heat.
00:12:58 There it is, guys.
00:13:00 Ta-da.
00:13:02 Ta-da.
00:13:03 Producer boy.
00:13:05 Producer boy.
00:13:06 Bye-bye.
00:13:07 There they are.
00:13:08 There you go, Sherrod.
00:13:09 Sherrod loves Cancun.
00:13:10 The Cancun.
00:13:11 1, 2, 3.
00:13:11 I do.
00:13:13 You know what's funny, though?
00:13:14 There's an actual commercial with Jimmy Butler.
00:13:17 Is that Hassel?
00:13:19 Do you miss the sex bots?
00:13:21 I kind of do.
00:13:22 Oh, God.
00:13:23 I was like, Ahmed, block the sex bots.
00:13:27 Ahmed spent 50% of his time blocking sex bots,
00:13:29 and the other making me graphics.
00:13:31 He's like, I think I got them all.
00:13:35 And then Jimmy would put them on the air.
00:13:37 A couple times.
00:13:38 But you know what the problem is?
00:13:40 It's very-- it's kind of tough.
00:13:43 Sometimes you want to block somebody,
00:13:44 but you end up putting their--
00:13:46 they got to change that with this program.
00:13:48 It's too easy to--
00:13:49 I told you not to tinker with the chat.
00:13:51 Posting and blocking.
00:13:52 I can't help myself.
00:13:53 Yeah.
00:13:54 So we are going to--
00:13:56 we're going to chat here.
00:13:57 We're going to talk.
00:13:58 We're going to hear from these guys.
00:14:01 From the Garden, we have Bobby Manning.
00:14:03 Jose Pavone standing by with Larry Bird.
00:14:05 We'll get to him in a minute.
00:14:06 We'll get to him in 20 minutes.
00:14:12 With Larry Bird, Bill Walt and John Havlicek are all there.
00:14:15 And The Truth, Paul Pierce.
00:14:17 We'll get to Josue later.
00:14:19 Josue, tell those guys to chill.
00:14:21 Tell those guys to hang out.
00:14:23 We're going to get The Truth on this show.
00:14:24 We got to get Pierce on.
00:14:27 With his number being raised and John bashing him.
00:14:33 That was-- you guys can't--
00:14:34 I had to say it.
00:14:35 Sorry.
00:14:38 It wasn't bashing.
00:14:39 I was just setting--
00:14:40 I was just giving my opinion.
00:14:43 We will hear from Joe Mazzullo.
00:14:45 We're going to hear Joe Mazzullo pregame as well.
00:14:46 Getting a little snippy with Bobby.
00:14:49 But I'm not going to get into that.
00:14:52 What?
00:14:53 I'm going to wait for Bobby.
00:14:54 Snippity.
00:14:56 Yeah, I heard all about this.
00:14:58 I can't wait.
00:14:59 Snippy.
00:14:59 You want it now?
00:15:01 Kind of, yeah.
00:15:02 All right, I'll give it to you now.
00:15:04 Now we'll play it later.
00:15:05 So the report earlier in the day, I'm not--
00:15:07 here's what I'm not doing, right?
00:15:10 I am not blaming Joe Mazzullo for anything.
00:15:15 I am simply pointing out that Joe made a comment earlier
00:15:18 in the day about allowing Chris F. Forzingas to continue playing
00:15:22 even after he noticed he was hurt.
00:15:24 That raised some eyebrows and some flags.
00:15:26 I don't think that's uncommon.
00:15:28 Jason Tatum tweaks an angle.
00:15:30 He walks around.
00:15:33 You want to say--
00:15:34 It happens all the time.
00:15:36 It happens.
00:15:37 It happens.
00:15:38 If you want to be on the other side of it and say,
00:15:41 yeah, but it's Chris F. Forzingas.
00:15:43 He's your first center.
00:15:44 He's important.
00:15:46 Maybe immediately run out there and be like, up, up, up, up,
00:15:49 up, up.
00:15:49 Come out, come out, come out, come out.
00:15:51 You could make that claim.
00:15:53 But it's not a strange thing.
00:15:55 But it does seem like Forzingas kind of wanted out.
00:15:57 And Joe was like, you sure?
00:15:59 And he let him go.
00:16:00 And it just kept getting worse and worse.
00:16:01 Whether he exacerbated the injury or not,
00:16:03 I don't know that's necessarily clear.
00:16:05 But Bobby asked about it.
00:16:08 Prior to the game.
00:16:09 As he should.
00:16:11 As he should.
00:16:12 Because I think it was relevant.
00:16:13 So what happened there?
00:16:14 And how do you normally handle that?
00:16:15 And honestly, I think it's pretty easy for Joe to say,
00:16:19 as you said, Sherrod, as we said, happens all the time.
00:16:22 Guys, Tatum did it, blah, blah.
00:16:23 You see players roll things, tweak things all the time.
00:16:26 They walk it off.
00:16:27 And you let them play.
00:16:28 If they're fine, they're fine.
00:16:30 But he chose a different tactic.
00:16:31 Here we go.
00:16:32 Here's Joe.
00:16:34 We'll do this while we wait for Bobby.
00:16:36 Like for Chris Stapps going forward.
00:16:39 I'm not sure.
00:16:39 We're just going to give it a week,
00:16:41 kind of see where he's at.
00:16:43 Kind of see how he responds to the treatment
00:16:44 over the next week.
00:16:45 I know you mentioned he was kind of struggling
00:16:47 out there for a couple of plays before the injury occurred.
00:16:51 What's the balance there?
00:16:52 Obviously, guys are going to play through some stuff.
00:16:54 But when you see him struggling a little bit out there,
00:16:57 is it on him to kind of call out there?
00:17:00 Is it on you guys to kind of identify that?
00:17:03 What's that balance like on a play like that?
00:17:05 I mean, he told me he needed to come out of the game.
00:17:08 He told you that?
00:17:09 Yeah.
00:17:10 And that was the initial--
00:17:11 I don't know.
00:17:12 It was at some point.
00:17:12 It was a long time ago.
00:17:13 It was a long time ago.
00:17:20 Yeah, it was like 1879.
00:17:22 It was a long time ago.
00:17:23 It was 20 hours ago.
00:17:26 It was like freaking a day ago.
00:17:29 Oh, God.
00:17:30 The way he answered it, he's like, I know you are.
00:17:32 But what am I?
00:17:33 And he was just talking.
00:17:34 Yeah, yeah.
00:17:34 And then it was silenced for like 10 seconds,
00:17:37 and nobody followed.
00:17:39 Come on, guys.
00:17:40 Like, wait, what?
00:17:43 I just thought it was complicated.
00:17:44 They left Bobby out to dry.
00:17:45 I am not blaming Joe Mazzuola for the Corsica's injury.
00:17:48 It's just a relevant--
00:17:50 exchange was freaking funny.
00:17:53 It was literally--
00:17:53 It was a legit--
00:17:54 It was two days ago.
00:17:56 It was a good question.
00:17:57 It was a legit question.
00:17:58 It was a totally legit question.
00:18:00 I thought Bobby phrased it perfectly, pointing out--
00:18:03 He even used the word balance, where it's like,
00:18:05 sometimes you just gotta throw the word balance in there
00:18:07 just to make the question make sense.
00:18:09 But then he's like, I let it play.
00:18:10 He's like, so what happened?
00:18:11 He told--
00:18:12 I don't know.
00:18:13 It happened a long time ago.
00:18:14 The only thing is, Porzingis said, I want out.
00:18:16 And Joe's like, nah.
00:18:18 And he let him--
00:18:19 but he said he wanted out.
00:18:20 At that point, there's no balance at that point.
00:18:23 He said he wants out.
00:18:24 Get him out of there, man.
00:18:25 You know, it was your night, though.
00:18:30 He needed the somber voice.
00:18:32 That was a pretty somber voice from Bobby, honestly.
00:18:36 Pretty somber.
00:18:37 That was--
00:18:38 It was.
00:18:39 That was somber.
00:18:40 That was somber voice.
00:18:42 Somber voice.
00:18:43 Maybe that's the thing.
00:18:43 I think when--
00:18:44 I don't know.
00:18:45 It was so long ago.
00:18:47 When you go somber voice with Mizzoula,
00:18:50 I think he sees it as a sign of weakness.
00:18:53 It's a threat.
00:18:53 It's attacks.
00:18:54 Yeah.
00:18:55 You gotta go in hard.
00:18:57 You gotta go in hard.
00:18:57 You're like, Joe, that all happened out there.
00:19:00 Why'd you let Porzingis run around on one leg?
00:19:03 Then you gotta kind of go fire for fire.
00:19:06 You don't want to come in like puppy dog eyes.
00:19:10 Like, Joe, Porzingis was basically crawling around
00:19:14 out there begging to come out.
00:19:16 Why didn't you take him out earlier?
00:19:18 That's the question.
00:19:18 Done.
00:19:20 He's dragging his leg up and down.
00:19:21 Sorry, Bob.
00:19:22 I don't remember.
00:19:24 Yeah.
00:19:24 He was almost amputated in the back of the play.
00:19:30 All of a sudden, he's like, I don't want
00:19:32 to talk about this anymore.
00:19:33 I don't-- it was so long ago.
00:19:34 I'm done.
00:19:36 It almost felt like if he had long hair,
00:19:37 he would have brushed it back.
00:19:39 [LAUGHTER]
00:19:39 Yeah.
00:19:40 Yeah.
00:19:41 [LAUGHTER]
00:19:43 Can we play that again?
00:19:44 All that was missing--
00:19:44 All that was missing--
00:19:45 --was his hair.
00:19:46 --was missing was obligatory next question.
00:19:49 Yeah.
00:19:50 Right.
00:19:51 Whatever, shut up.
00:19:51 You're stinking.
00:19:52 Next.
00:19:53 I'm looking at his nail on that.
00:19:54 Gary, what do you got?
00:19:55 Gary, what do you got?
00:19:57 That would have been perfect.
00:19:59 He would have rather--
00:20:00 Gary, you got any questions, Gary?
00:20:01 He would have rather talked about three--
00:20:03 But the room bailed him out.
00:20:04 I might have--
00:20:05 For secondary assists.
00:20:07 I might have followed there.
00:20:08 Joe, just the timeline.
00:20:10 Do you really not remember when he asked out?
00:20:12 Was it early or late?
00:20:13 And like, you know, it's just funny.
00:20:15 The whole thing was pretty funny.
00:20:17 [LAUGHTER]
00:20:19 It was good stuff.
00:20:20 Anyway, going through tonight again,
00:20:23 look at the performances.
00:20:24 I know some people are talking about Tatum,
00:20:25 but you have to talk about--
00:20:28 hold on, is there more?
00:20:29 You got something for me?
00:20:30 We have something from Joe Postgame.
00:20:31 We'll talk about it.
00:20:32 We're going to get into Derek White--
00:20:33 By the way, guys--
00:20:34 --as well.
00:20:36 Impossible not to talk about White at this point
00:20:38 because he might be--
00:20:43 He might be him.
00:20:44 He might be the X Factor now.
00:20:46 He might be him.
00:20:46 What Porzingis out, he is.
00:20:48 What Porzingis out, he is.
00:20:50 He might be him.
00:20:51 You might be relying on him to do things.
00:20:54 And again, another lights out shooting performance.
00:20:57 Just absolutely phenomenal, phenomenal play from him.
00:21:04 It really is.
00:21:05 The problem for teams that--
00:21:08 the problem for teams that try to shift more attention
00:21:11 to Derek is that because he's a perimeter player,
00:21:14 that's going to open up things for Tatum and Brown more
00:21:16 if you start shifting your attention.
00:21:18 And whereas Porzingis, you can continue
00:21:20 to do whatever you're trying to do with Jalen and Jason
00:21:22 and shift some attention to Porzingis
00:21:24 because the two aren't necessarily directly related.
00:21:27 But with Derek out there, you can't start all of a sudden
00:21:30 double teaming him and tilting for him and blitzing him
00:21:33 because that means Tatum is going to-- or Jalen
00:21:35 is going to have a very favorable matchup.
00:21:38 So the better Derek White plays, the more it kind of
00:21:41 screws your defense up because you can't--
00:21:43 you almost have to just hope that he just misses
00:21:45 and hope that he just doesn't get hot.
00:21:48 Because I think teams are more comfortable with him
00:21:50 going off for 30 than Tatum.
00:21:52 But the scary part for teams is that now, Derek,
00:21:55 you know he can do that.
00:21:57 And you know that he's comfortable going at you.
00:22:00 I mean, Derek, I mean, he's doing chin-ups
00:22:02 on the damn rim out here.
00:22:03 How many times-- I mean, Derek has had like three or four
00:22:05 dunks in the last couple of games.
00:22:06 He might have went all season with maybe four dunks.
00:22:09 And he's got like two or three in the last couple of games.
00:22:12 Yeah, he's getting up there.
00:22:14 He's a problem now.
00:22:15 He is a problem for Cleveland, Orlando,
00:22:17 whoever's next on the docket.
00:22:19 He's going to be a major problem for them.
00:22:21 It's great.
00:22:22 We always theorize like what--
00:22:25 if you lived in a universe where Derek White was clearly
00:22:27 like the number two option on a team,
00:22:29 would this be a normal occurrence?
00:22:31 25, 26, 28?
00:22:32 You know, you do wonder.
00:22:34 You wonder how much he's getting because the attention given
00:22:37 to the other guys.
00:22:38 I think that's fair to talk about.
00:22:40 But also, I honestly think he's just--
00:22:43 I mean, he's borderline perfect.
00:22:48 Like in the sense of like he just
00:22:50 does the right thing or the well-intentioned thing
00:22:54 all the time.
00:22:55 Sometimes there'll be a physical execution issue.
00:22:57 Like I was a second late on that pass, or I went for the block
00:23:01 and I missed it, or whatever.
00:23:03 And like it's not-- you can't make every play.
00:23:05 But it's almost always kind of the right read on what
00:23:09 he should be doing at all times.
00:23:11 When he attacks, he attacks at the right moment.
00:23:13 When he pulls up at a shot, he's doing it
00:23:16 with just the right amount of space
00:23:18 before someone takes that space away.
00:23:20 Just moving the ball and getting things going.
00:23:23 And obviously, defensively, he's so good.
00:23:25 He just does almost everything right all the time.
00:23:29 And I feel like the more you put on his plate,
00:23:31 the more you do it.
00:23:32 And yes, it is weird.
00:23:34 But it's crazy.
00:23:35 Like I mean, there are people who
00:23:38 will tell you the first three months of the Derek White era
00:23:41 looked exactly like this, except shots didn't fall.
00:23:44 But that's-- but they know ball and we don't.
00:23:48 Right, right.
00:23:49 This is-- he's different.
00:23:54 He keeps getting--
00:23:56 I mean, price is going up.
00:24:01 Well, we said after the 38--
00:24:04 yeah, after that 38-point game, Sherrod, I thought--
00:24:07 Sherrod, I thought-- we thought you were going to jump on,
00:24:09 do everything in your power to jump on this show,
00:24:11 even though I know you were teaching.
00:24:12 Because you know how I love Derek White.
00:24:14 You know how I love me some Derek.
00:24:16 And I wrote about him in my sub stack after the game.
00:24:20 And I went back to a conversation
00:24:21 I had with Will Hart, our assistant here,
00:24:24 was with Derek in San Antonio.
00:24:26 And how Will was real bullish on what Derek could do here.
00:24:30 Perfect fit was how he described him.
00:24:32 And I thought he was just going to BS to me,
00:24:33 because that was his guy.
00:24:35 But then you start watching Derek play, and it's like, wow.
00:24:39 He's like the perfect complement to these guys
00:24:41 in almost every sense of the word--
00:24:44 offensively, defensively, moving the ball,
00:24:47 being a help side defender, being a guy that you don't
00:24:51 have to call plays for.
00:24:52 He can still get you points, get you buckets.
00:24:55 He's been so much better than I think the Celtics even
00:24:58 envisioned him being.
00:24:59 I think they felt he could be a guy that can help them.
00:25:02 But I don't think they saw him as a borderline all-star
00:25:05 caliber guy.
00:25:06 And to your point, John, you're right.
00:25:08 The price has gone up significantly.
00:25:09 I mean, he's entering that near-max salary zone
00:25:15 when you look at all the things he can do.
00:25:17 At least holiday range, right?
00:25:18 Like, you know, he's--
00:25:19 At least holiday range.
00:25:22 And over.
00:25:23 It's scary.
00:25:24 If they can get that--
00:25:25 If he-- if he can--
00:25:26 if he takes the holiday-type deal, I think--
00:25:30 So lucky.
00:25:31 Yes.
00:25:32 Yeah.
00:25:32 So lucky.
00:25:33 Yeah.
00:25:34 Which is crazy to think about this.
00:25:37 Yeah, it was.
00:25:38 And again, I think--
00:25:41 we don't like doing this--
00:25:42 You think he's getting that much, huh?
00:25:43 You guys think he's going to cash in at--
00:25:44 I think he's going to have the opportunity.
00:25:46 He may take it home.
00:25:48 $40 million.
00:25:49 $30-something million.
00:25:50 He may take less just to stay in Boston
00:25:52 because it's a great situation for him.
00:25:54 No, he's not.
00:25:55 He's not going to do that, Sherrod.
00:25:57 I am a firm believer that he's not taking any team discount.
00:26:02 Shut up, Jimmy.
00:26:03 OK.
00:26:04 This is his big deal.
00:26:04 OK.
00:26:04 This is his big contract.
00:26:05 This is his big contract.
00:26:06 He hasn't cashed in on a big one like Holiday.
00:26:09 Holiday's got two of those now.
00:26:11 Whatever, Jimmy.
00:26:13 I'm just saying, I think he's--
00:26:15 Let me sleep, Jimmy.
00:26:16 Can I just sleep this one through, Jimmy?
00:26:17 Just let me sleep this one through, OK?
00:26:19 Don't wake me up anymore, all right?
00:26:22 We're going to hear it.
00:26:23 Can I just dream?
00:26:24 You can dream, my bad.
00:26:25 I think he will.
00:26:26 You don't need to talk about it.
00:26:28 It's not going to be a discount as much as it's going to be,
00:26:32 we'll work together on this.
00:26:36 He's going to--
00:26:36 I don't think he's squeezing every last penny.
00:26:39 I think he's going to want to get paid.
00:26:41 He's not taking significantly less.
00:26:43 But I do believe the desire is going to be there to stay.
00:26:46 Anyway, but who knows?
00:26:47 It seems like--
00:26:48 It's down the road, and it's not the thing now.
00:26:50 But the way he's playing now is insane.
00:26:52 We're going to hear from Joe.
00:26:53 We're going to hear from Jalen as well in the locker room.
00:26:56 And we're going to hear about our sponsor, PrizePix,
00:27:00 which everybody knows about now.

00:27:58 Is it that easy, Jimmy?
00:28:00 It's that easy.
00:28:01 Pick less on two.
00:28:02 Pick less on faker.
00:28:04 I'm not done.
00:28:05 I'm not done.
00:28:06 I want to tell you guys also about Game Time, which
00:28:10 is a new sponsor in the Garden Report.
00:28:12 And we're going to get these out here quick
00:28:14 because we're going to get the other guys coming on
00:28:15 and we want to chop it up with them a little bit more.
00:28:17 So we're doubling up.
00:28:19 And as we said, we're lucky.
00:28:21 We get to go to games using press credentials.
00:28:22 I was at the Garden today.
00:28:24 I snuck in, snuck out, came back here.
00:28:25 I haven't been in a minute.
00:28:27 You guys probably didn't see me, but I went.
00:28:29 I picked up my press pass.
00:28:30 I walked around a little, shook some hands,
00:28:33 kissed some babies, moved on.
00:28:35 Sherrod, Josue, Bobby, they get to go.
00:28:37 You guys might not get to.
00:28:39 So enter Game Time.
00:28:40 Pop it in, John.
00:28:41 Gee.
00:28:42 It's cool.
00:28:43 We're lucky.
00:28:43 We're lucky.
00:28:44 We're fortunate.
00:28:45 Jimmy doesn't get to go.
00:28:46 But if Jimmy wants to go, he uses Game Time.
00:28:48 Authorized ticket marketplace of the--
00:28:50 Jimmy is a homeschooled NBA enthusiast.

00:29:18 You get this awesome panoramic view.
00:29:20 It's great.
00:29:21 Again, I think that's particularly awesome
00:29:23 for concerts when you're really like, oh,
00:29:25 what's it going to look like relative to the stage.
00:29:27 I think that's really cool.

00:30:01 So yes, have at it.
00:30:03 I'm sorry to rub it in, but yes,
00:30:04 we do get to go to kind of games from time to time
00:30:07 and it's fun and we like that.
00:30:09 And we're on to either--
00:30:10 - I like Game Time because like I said,
00:30:13 you can just chill outside the stadium
00:30:16 and the game starts and the price starts to drop.
00:30:18 Who cares if you miss the first few minutes?
00:30:20 You go in for like a nice little discount
00:30:22 and you see all the good stuff.
00:30:23 - Yeah, you see all the good stuff
00:30:25 and you can absolutely do that.
00:30:27 As we talked about earlier, Cavs Magic.
00:30:29 I think I know who I wanna see less.
00:30:32 Do you have a pick, Jimmy?
00:30:36 Like who would you rather play here?
00:30:38 - Star Power is on Cleveland.
00:30:42 You know, get Donovan Mitchell.
00:30:43 I actually think Orlando is sneaky good,
00:30:46 but they may not even beat Cleveland.
00:30:48 So I guess I'm wrong about that.
00:30:50 I think maybe Orlando's a year or two away,
00:30:51 but they've got some good young talent, some athleticism.
00:30:54 And then Cleveland's got Donovan Mitchell,
00:30:56 who on any given night can be the frigging
00:30:58 best player in the damn league practically.
00:31:01 So I think you'll probably see Cleveland at this point.
00:31:03 They're up by one.
00:31:04 I originally thought Orlando might steal it,
00:31:06 but I don't know if Orlando has the forces
00:31:09 to make that happen.
00:31:10 - I prefer to see Cleveland.
00:31:14 'Cause I just think Orlando, they're so young
00:31:17 that they don't know they're not supposed
00:31:19 to beat the Celtics, if that makes any sense.
00:31:23 They just, to your point, Jimmy,
00:31:27 I just think they're better.
00:31:28 They have more talent, I think, than Cleveland does.
00:31:31 But Cleveland has the benefit of experience
00:31:33 and wisdom to have been there, done that.
00:31:35 You know, that game five, that was Orlando's moment
00:31:38 to really kind of catapult themselves
00:31:42 into being a legitimate team that isn't seen
00:31:45 as a young team that's on the rise.
00:31:47 They had a chance to be in the mix to win.
00:31:50 I don't think they'll win game six.
00:31:51 I think they'll lose that one.
00:31:53 And, you know, go home for the summer.
00:31:56 They had a good year, they got to the playoffs.
00:31:58 But Cleveland, because of their size,
00:32:01 if you're the Celtics, you want that series to go
00:32:05 as long as it possibly can go,
00:32:07 so that the clock for Porzingis to get back
00:32:11 won't be as long.
00:32:12 - Now, is there a chance they play Sunday?
00:32:14 If Cleveland wraps it up on Friday,
00:32:16 are they coming to Boston Sunday?
00:32:18 Is that how it works?
00:32:19 - Yeah, it would start early.
00:32:21 - I think so.
00:32:23 - Yeah.
00:32:24 - Yeah, that's Greekster, guys.
00:32:27 Just telling you.
00:32:29 - Is it?
00:32:30 - Yeah.
00:32:31 - Is that what that means?
00:32:33 - It's going to be a Nick Gelso-Evan Valenti special.
00:32:36 - Oh boy.
00:32:37 Sunday?
00:32:39 - Yeah.
00:32:39 Are you on?
00:32:40 - Did they say what time it would be Sunday?
00:32:41 It did happen.
00:32:42 - I don't know yet.
00:32:44 - Depends what time the game is.
00:32:46 - I got to roast a whole lamb, Jimmy.
00:32:48 I can't be messing around with post-game shows.
00:32:51 - Could it be a night game or is it definitely a day game?
00:32:53 - 1 p.m.?
00:32:54 Luke says 1.
00:32:55 It's probably a day game.
00:32:56 - I can make it happen, I'm sure.
00:33:02 It's a 1 p.m.
00:33:02 - Okay, good.
00:33:03 I understand Orlando is bigger and longer
00:33:09 and might be challenging in some ways.
00:33:12 I can't see them winning four games against the Celtics
00:33:14 under any circumstances.
00:33:15 I think Cleveland could, won't, but could.
00:33:21 So I don't know.
00:33:22 I'm still kinda figuring it out in my head here.
00:33:27 I wanna dig deeper into the match.
00:33:30 They're two and one against both teams.
00:33:32 That doesn't really mean much.
00:33:33 Again, I think you're trying to factor
00:33:35 how the no Porzingis thing is going to go.
00:33:37 And again, an optimistic assessment today was Porzingis
00:33:42 back for the Eastern Conference Finals.
00:33:47 I've seen two weeks.
00:33:49 I've talked to some people who know some things about Cavs
00:33:53 who think two weeks is insanely optimistic,
00:33:56 even without like-
00:33:57 - Oh, I know a thing or two about Cavs.
00:34:00 - I know, yeah.
00:34:01 - You got a Cav, John, you've got a Cav guy?
00:34:05 - I got a Cav guy.
00:34:06 - Of course you do.
00:34:07 You got a guy for everything.
00:34:09 - I got a Cav guy.
00:34:10 - Get him on.
00:34:11 Get that coward on.
00:34:12 Put a face to that report.
00:34:13 He doesn't think Porzingis is gonna be on the court.
00:34:16 - It's not.
00:34:17 I just think it's saying two weeks seems too...
00:34:20 I was told that two weeks is a little optimistic.
00:34:23 - Who said two weeks?
00:34:24 - That's what you would be to get ready
00:34:28 for the Eastern Conference Finals probably.
00:34:29 You know, that's about that.
00:34:31 Couple of weeks is gonna be a quick turnaround.
00:34:33 - I think what the report said was he would be back
00:34:37 for the Eastern Conference Finals,
00:34:40 but maybe not necessarily game one.
00:34:42 Did he say he was gonna be back
00:34:43 for the start of the Eastern Conference Finals?
00:34:45 - Jimmy, do you have Cavs or no?
00:34:47 - Could be a little...
00:34:48 I've got a couple of Cavs
00:34:49 and I've been working them out too, by the way.
00:34:52 You won't see me going out with a Cav injury.
00:34:54 Not right now.
00:34:55 Peak right now.
00:34:59 Peak Cav game.
00:35:01 - I think Nick Gelso legitimately
00:35:05 is giving away the store right now.
00:35:07 - What's he doing?
00:35:09 Nick, what are you doing?
00:35:10 We talked about this, Nick.
00:35:13 He's actually... - Cornet MVP, no way.
00:35:17 - He's actually giving away the store.
00:35:19 I have no way of knowing
00:35:21 if Nick actually created this promo code.
00:35:23 He's just messing with you guys.
00:35:24 The only way you'll know, go to the merch store.
00:35:27 - I feel like it's legit.
00:35:29 He actually texted it to us too.
00:35:31 - I think it might be legit.
00:35:33 - Cornet MVP.
00:35:34 So you can get...
00:35:35 By the way, guys, this shirt is $25,
00:35:37 but with 20% off, you do the math.
00:35:40 You can only imagine what the...
00:35:41 - It's five bucks off, Jimmy.
00:35:42 - It's five bucks off.
00:35:43 - 20 bucks, just like that.
00:35:45 20 bucks.
00:35:47 Covers your shipping probably.
00:35:50 - This is...
00:35:50 You catch Nick after a series win and 11 vodkas.
00:35:55 - We only do this after series wins, guys.
00:35:58 So there you go.
00:36:00 - There it is, one more time.
00:36:01 - It's gonna be a one night deal here.
00:36:05 - And while you're buying our stuff, I will say,
00:36:10 it really is cool when you like and subscribe,
00:36:14 like the videos and subscribe to our channel.
00:36:19 If you're here and you're hanging out
00:36:20 and you haven't subscribed yet, what is wrong with you?
00:36:23 Okay, what is wrong with you?
00:36:24 - Yeah, seriously, you're just a bad person.
00:36:27 - We love this stuff.
00:36:28 - By the way, guys, I'm gonna be ordering,
00:36:30 I'm gonna say this now, in the spirit of merch,
00:36:31 I'm gonna be ordering some hard hats.
00:36:33 There's gonna be a limited supply of them,
00:36:34 but they will be available soon.
00:36:37 - Yeah.
00:36:39 - I will take suggestions from the chat as well,
00:36:43 what type of stuff, what type of merch you would like to see
00:36:47 'cause we would like to create it.
00:36:49 Would you like a Luke Lemon Square's apron?
00:36:53 It's something we would consider.
00:36:56 Luke Lemon Square's lunchbox, that'd be fun.
00:36:58 A lot of L's in that, a lot of alliteration.
00:37:00 - I'm not sure the Luke merch is,
00:37:03 I don't know if we start with Luke merch.
00:37:06 - He's your third center, you don't think that's great?
00:37:10 - Hey, that code is legit, guys.
00:37:11 That code's legit.
00:37:14 - It's my third T-shirt.
00:37:16 It's my third T-shirt.
00:37:17 - It's my third T-shirt.
00:37:19 (laughing)
00:37:22 - Yeah.
00:37:23 - No, the Nick code is legit.
00:37:25 You go there, you get the 20% off.
00:37:28 - Nick's saying he's gonna do it after,
00:37:30 for every win.
00:37:32 - Nick, Nick, Nick, Nick.
00:37:33 - That's true though.
00:37:34 - Nick.
00:37:35 - He might just be, Nick might be drunk.
00:37:36 - Nick, sleep on it, Nick.
00:37:38 Nick, sleep on it.
00:37:39 - This is what he does.
00:37:40 This is what he does after a win, he goes crazy.
00:37:43 - Sleep on it.
00:37:44 - Starts giving the company away.
00:37:46 Watch out, John.
00:37:47 - Yeah, we'll do--
00:37:49 - Stock tomorrow, we got tomorrow,
00:37:51 the stock torpedoes.
00:37:53 - Sad girls margarita glasses.
00:37:55 You could do that.
00:37:58 That's what you do on Valentine's Day when you're single.
00:38:01 You go, you go have, we're having fun, right?
00:38:04 We're having margaritas.
00:38:05 (laughing)
00:38:08 - Oh boy.
00:38:11 - Sad girls, walk away.
00:38:13 - I'll get 'em to walk away.
00:38:15 - Let's just walk away.
00:38:17 - They come with a box of tissues.
00:38:19 (laughing)
00:38:21 - I'm sorry, sad girls.
00:38:27 My wife wants 11 squares apron,
00:38:30 but it's my third apron, I like that.
00:38:32 (laughing)
00:38:35 - Very good stuff.
00:38:36 Anyway, here's Joe Mazzuola talking about stuff
00:38:40 about the post game.
00:38:42 Huh?
00:38:43 Yeah, as a Celtics fan.
00:38:45 Talked about, I don't know, Ahmed kind of told me.
00:38:50 - Stuff.
00:38:51 - What did he talk about?
00:38:52 - Stuff.
00:38:53 - It's pretty boring.
00:38:55 Oh, they trust each other.
00:38:56 - The trust all around this year with this team is just,
00:39:03 it's way more than, not saying you need to trust each other,
00:39:08 but just the growth.
00:39:09 - Yeah, I mean, the longer you're around each other,
00:39:11 the longer you have the conversations to go about
00:39:13 how you wanna do things,
00:39:14 you're gonna develop that sense of trust.
00:39:16 But I think it starts with the guys.
00:39:17 I think the trust they have in each other,
00:39:19 the way they communicate,
00:39:21 the way they prepare is super important.
00:39:22 So I think it's more about them.
00:39:24 - Thanks.
00:39:28 - Thanks, Joe.
00:39:29 - Boring, Ahmed was right.
00:39:30 - And thank you, Renee.
00:39:34 You think I won't make a pie cookbook?
00:39:35 I'll make a pie cookbook, don't you dare.
00:39:37 - Thank you, Renee.
00:39:38 - Yeah, thanks, man. - Thank you, Reen.
00:39:40 - As much as we like super chats, we also like-
00:39:43 - Criticism.
00:39:45 - Yeah, we also like this type of honest feedback.
00:39:48 Trash.
00:39:50 We're trash.
00:39:51 - Trash.
00:39:52 - Yeah, oh, we do need one of these.
00:39:55 Do you have children?
00:39:57 T-shirts.
00:39:58 - Yeah, that'd be good.
00:39:59 - Well, you know what, actually,
00:40:01 that would be good on a mug.
00:40:03 Just a coffee mug.
00:40:04 Do you have kids?
00:40:05 Just picture a dad drinking it being like,
00:40:09 "Damn it, it's like kids running around crazy
00:40:12 five in the morning."
00:40:13 - Here's the secret.
00:40:16 I'm not really that good at baking pies.
00:40:17 I didn't want to tell everybody.
00:40:19 I'm just starting out.
00:40:21 I'm just getting into it.
00:40:22 It's a brand new thing for me.
00:40:24 Baking is new for me.
00:40:25 - Baking is new for you?
00:40:28 - Yes, I'm not a pie wizard.
00:40:29 I just started baking.
00:40:30 That's why I was so proud of them.
00:40:32 I'm like, "Look, they look like actual pies."
00:40:35 But it's not my thing.
00:40:37 Definitely not my thing.
00:40:38 - It might be your thing.
00:40:39 - I'm a fraud.
00:40:40 I'm a fraud.
00:40:40 - I think it's becoming your thing.
00:40:43 - Yeah.
00:40:44 It's fun.
00:40:45 - You're growing into it.
00:40:47 - Yeah.
00:40:48 - I'm growing into it.
00:40:48 - What are you gonna make on Sunday?
00:40:51 - I'm making a pastitsio,
00:40:53 which is like a Greek lasagna.
00:40:55 - What's in it?
00:40:59 - Instead of cheese, it's like a bechamel.
00:41:02 And the ground beef, and it's not heavy.
00:41:04 It's not tomato saucy.
00:41:06 It's a ground beef that has some tomatoes in it,
00:41:08 but it also has different flavors.
00:41:10 There's like nutmeg and cinnamon.
00:41:11 So it has a different kind of flavor profile than lasagna.
00:41:14 And the bechamel is like a thick little layer at the top.
00:41:17 You're using basically like Bucatini style pasta.
00:41:20 So it's like this tubular sort of thing.
00:41:22 And it's great.
00:41:24 The pastitsio is great.
00:41:25 And then-
00:41:26 - A lot of big words.
00:41:27 A lot of words.
00:41:28 I don't know what they mean.
00:41:29 (laughing)
00:41:30 - Bechamel is one of the mother sauces.
00:41:33 - Bechamel?
00:41:34 - Yeah.
00:41:35 - Okay.
00:41:35 - Yeah.
00:41:36 - Okay, and cinnamon?
00:41:37 Just toss a little.
00:41:38 You know, like, it's like a pastitsio.
00:41:39 Like, you know what this needs?
00:41:41 Cinnamon.
00:41:42 - Yeah, it's good.
00:41:43 It's good.
00:41:44 - Like Buddy the Elf or something?
00:41:46 - It's damn good.
00:41:47 I'm telling you.
00:41:48 It's good stuff.
00:41:50 - You can toss some syrup in there too.
00:41:52 - I'm trying to Greek it up a little.
00:41:53 Some roasted potatoes.
00:41:54 Nothing crazy.
00:41:55 It's a small gathering.
00:41:57 But yeah, it's fun.
00:41:58 It's fun.
00:41:59 - Nice.
00:42:00 Well, happy Greek Easter to you.
00:42:01 - Yeah, yeah.
00:42:02 - We might not see you.
00:42:03 We might not see you after that if they don't play.
00:42:07 - Yeah, so we'll see.
00:42:09 But I gotta do it.
00:42:10 Gotta do it once.
00:42:11 And then we do egg wars.
00:42:13 Which I talked about in the show before.
00:42:16 Yeah.
00:42:17 You butt eggs together
00:42:19 and whoever has the pristine egg at the end is the champion.
00:42:21 It's nose to nose and butt to butt.
00:42:23 And you go around and everybody does it.
00:42:26 And it's like, you know,
00:42:27 everybody in your family has one
00:42:28 and you crack eggs.
00:42:29 - You crack eggs?
00:42:30 Are you holding it in your hand?
00:42:32 - Dude, it's so frigging fun.
00:42:33 Yeah.
00:42:34 Not raw eggs.
00:42:35 Hard boiled eggs that are dyed red.
00:42:37 They're awesome.
00:42:39 - Why do you dye them red?
00:42:40 - It just is.
00:42:41 It's just a thing.
00:42:43 Yeah.
00:42:43 - You never asked.
00:42:44 All right, it's time to dye the eggs red, everybody.
00:42:48 - It's a religious thing.
00:42:49 Yeah.
00:42:50 - All right.
00:42:51 Yeah, it makes sense.
00:42:52 It makes sense that it's a religious thing.
00:42:53 Hard boil the eggs,
00:42:54 paint them red and smash them against each other.
00:42:55 It makes, yeah.
00:42:57 - Egg wars.
00:42:58 - I can see that being a religious thing.
00:42:59 - Nick is selling shit.
00:43:00 Nick's like, look, Nick.
00:43:02 - Are people buying it?
00:43:04 - Yeah, they are.
00:43:04 - Am I getting a cut of this stuff?
00:43:06 - Yeah.
00:43:08 The phenomenal t-shirts have already sold out.
00:43:09 They may have been sold out before Nick started promoting.
00:43:11 - Bobby must get a cut of that.
00:43:13 We also have the logo.
00:43:14 We have a good t-shirt of our logo,
00:43:18 which I'm still looking for one.
00:43:20 - Amit, what's this thing with Bobby and Josue?
00:43:25 - Adding, who knows?
00:43:27 Putting something on the screen that I'm in.
00:43:29 - Oh, wow.
00:43:30 Orders are flying in.
00:43:31 - Is this what Bobby did?
00:43:35 - We're gonna sell out.
00:43:36 - Yeah.
00:43:38 Two more.
00:43:39 Orders are coming in.
00:43:41 Nick gave away the store.
00:43:42 - You haven't even put the hard hats up.
00:43:43 You guys, save your money for some hard hats.
00:43:45 I'm telling you, they're coming.
00:43:46 They're coming.
00:43:47 - Nick knows how to hustle.
00:43:49 Nick knows how to sell.
00:43:51 Trust me.
00:43:53 - All it took was 20% off.
00:43:54 Unbelievable.
00:43:55 - All it took was 20% off in a blue cornet.
00:43:58 Small code.
00:43:59 - Yeah.
00:44:02 Yeah.
00:44:03 - Nick's gonna have to order some more shirts.
00:44:04 Get on the horn, Nick.
00:44:06 - You know who's cool?
00:44:07 - Your t-shirt guy.
00:44:09 - You know who's cool as hell?
00:44:10 - Also, if anyone has any cool...
00:44:11 What?
00:44:12 Who's cool as hell?
00:44:13 - This guy.
00:44:14 Look at how cool this guy is right here.
00:44:16 I'm not kidding.
00:44:19 - You guys took this serious.
00:44:20 This is kind of a step forward,
00:44:21 like a graduating from last year.
00:44:23 - Yes.
00:44:24 - I think we still have tests to go through.
00:44:27 - I think he's got the Emmy Awards.
00:44:29 - Especially now.
00:44:30 - Accepted as the producer of the year,
00:44:33 record of the year.
00:44:34 - I think I'm up to the challenge
00:44:37 and I'm excited about that.
00:44:39 So we're graduating.
00:44:41 We haven't graduated yet.
00:44:43 - Come on, you're moving forward.
00:44:44 - Exactly.
00:44:45 Something like that.
00:44:46 - Yeah, 'cause you know, you know,
00:44:50 something like that.
00:44:51 Yeah.
00:44:52 - Yeah.
00:44:53 - Those sunglasses were damn cool.
00:44:56 Yeah, those were cool.
00:44:57 That's, you're allowed to be that cool
00:45:01 when you advance to the next round.
00:45:02 - When you are that cool,
00:45:03 you get to be that cool.
00:45:04 So Jalen is that cool.
00:45:07 You know, you got Bobby sitting there
00:45:09 with a frigging bucket hat and cream cheese
00:45:11 all over his face,
00:45:11 asking him questions.
00:45:13 Jalen's like, "Whatever, Bobby.
00:45:16 I'm hanging out with my shades
00:45:18 and I graduated.
00:45:20 Take me out."
00:45:21 - I'm graduating.
00:45:22 I'm graduating.
00:45:24 Haven't graduated yet.
00:45:25 - I'm great.
00:45:26 He's got, the beard is great.
00:45:27 All of it is great.
00:45:28 Awesome.
00:45:29 Awesome.
00:45:30 Good stuff.
00:45:31 - Everything's up.
00:45:32 - Yeah.
00:45:33 - Wow, the phenomenal t-shirt
00:45:34 is actually officially sold out right now.
00:45:36 - Yep.
00:45:37 - I can't believe it. - I told you.
00:45:38 - Just like that.
00:45:39 - I can.
00:45:41 - So that means the Guardian Report T
00:45:44 is still available, everybody.
00:45:45 That's got all our faces on it.
00:45:49 Including the hard hat.
00:45:49 - Yeah.
00:45:50 - Not bad.
00:45:52 - Yeah.
00:45:52 - Phenomenal bucket hats are still available.
00:45:54 - We have phenomenal bucket hats.
00:45:56 - Believe it or not,
00:45:57 they're still available.
00:45:58 - You guys don't want bucket hats?
00:46:01 (laughing)
00:46:03 - How many of those did Nick buy?
00:46:04 Oh boy, we're gonna be selling those
00:46:05 for the next decade.
00:46:07 - Yeah.
00:46:08 We've got some Brockton WiFi clogs.
00:46:10 (laughing)
00:46:13 Yeah, so, you know,
00:46:18 we got all the high fashion,
00:46:20 if you want.
00:46:22 - Oh, you're graduating.
00:46:24 Graduating.
00:46:25 - A lot of people in the chat saying
00:46:27 they're gonna buy the hard hat
00:46:28 when it becomes available, so.
00:46:29 - Bobby Manning sure has a funny way
00:46:31 of getting on the show quickly, huh?
00:46:33 - He does.
00:46:35 - He certainly does.
00:46:40 We're almost out of stuff to talk about, honestly.
00:46:42 I guess, am I gonna talk about Luke?
00:46:45 No.
00:46:46 How do you think I'll ask you this question?
00:46:48 No, I'm not.
00:46:49 How do you think Al Horford acquitted himself here?
00:46:52 You know, and Bams get a Bam,
00:46:55 and it's gonna be hard.
00:46:56 This is not an easy matchup here.
00:46:59 That's, you know, Bam's get a Bam.
00:47:05 But, you know, Al, nice to keep it to 23 minutes.
00:47:08 Nice to have that little blowout.
00:47:11 Nice to have a little length of time.
00:47:12 If you're gonna be playing Al,
00:47:14 probably 30 minutes a night.
00:47:16 Any race, any space and rest you can give him is great here.
00:47:21 So again, not overusing there.
00:47:24 You know, Cornette acquitted himself fine.
00:47:26 I don't know how much of this just has to do with just,
00:47:29 there wasn't much resistance on the other side.
00:47:32 Miami's not bringing anybody big off the bench there
00:47:34 that's really gonna threaten you.
00:47:36 You can absolutely mirror the non-Bam minutes there,
00:47:40 you know, and get Luke in and not worry about it,
00:47:42 even though he did face off with him as well.
00:47:45 But yeah, I mean, I thought Al did well.
00:47:50 I mean, you're gonna need it.
00:47:51 You're gonna need it from him, you know.
00:47:55 - Well, you know what they did?
00:47:57 - You're gonna need the shooting.
00:47:58 You're gonna need him to knock down some threes.
00:48:00 He's gonna have to contribute.
00:48:01 You know, you can't have Al goose egg games.
00:48:04 He can't just be there.
00:48:05 You know, I think Al's gonna have to be part of this
00:48:07 'cause you're counting on Porzingis
00:48:09 providing a big offensive load.
00:48:11 I definitely don't wanna see those Al games
00:48:13 where you're like, "Oh, he didn't score tonight, huh?"
00:48:15 Like, "Ugh."
00:48:16 - No, no, no.
00:48:17 - So you wanna see him involved.
00:48:19 You wanna see him involved.
00:48:20 - Well, they poked the bear right off the bat.
00:48:22 He took that, he took that basically a foul from Bam
00:48:25 right off the tip.
00:48:27 And I think that gave him a little spark,
00:48:29 you know, that woke him up.
00:48:30 Sometimes that's all it takes to get these guys
00:48:32 going a little bit earlier into the game,
00:48:34 get him in the zone.
00:48:34 And he was aggressive tonight.
00:48:36 He was active on the boards.
00:48:37 He kept some, you know,
00:48:38 second chance opportunities going.
00:48:40 And listen, I mean, we talk about the pressure on,
00:48:45 you know, Tatum and Brown and that and all that stuff,
00:48:48 but Al Horford's looking towards the end of his career here.
00:48:51 And this is probably his best shot at winning a title.
00:48:54 I mean, every, you know, you don't wanna,
00:48:56 you don't wanna be looking at next year
00:48:57 if you're Al Horford.
00:48:58 You're looking at this year.
00:48:59 So he has every reason to leave it all out there
00:49:01 when he plays.
00:49:02 I mean, I'm sure he doesn't wanna have to take on,
00:49:05 you know, too much of a larger role
00:49:07 that he needs to with Porzingis out
00:49:08 for the next couple of weeks, but he will.
00:49:10 Certainly he's, you know, a professional.
00:49:13 He's, he's always ready to play.
00:49:15 For his age, he's been pretty damn healthy, Shurat.
00:49:19 You know, I mean, I think there were some concerns.
00:49:21 There were some concerns years ago
00:49:23 about like his knee and his lower body
00:49:25 and whether or not he's gonna hold up.
00:49:27 I don't think anyone's had those concerns
00:49:29 the last couple of seasons with him.
00:49:30 I mean, yeah, they've taken the proper precautions
00:49:33 on the back to backs and whatnot,
00:49:35 but he's been pretty damn healthy for this team.
00:49:38 - Yeah, I mean, they've done a good job
00:49:40 of keeping him in just enough bubble
00:49:41 where he actually doesn't hurt himself,
00:49:42 but just whipping him out there to help you
00:49:44 when you need him, like times like this.
00:49:46 He's a different kind of player than Porzingis.
00:49:48 I mean, obviously both of those guys
00:49:49 didn't shoot the three.
00:49:50 Porzingis is better, obviously,
00:49:52 but Al gives them the ability to actually post someone up
00:49:56 and who can actually do some work down there.
00:49:58 And because he's such a good passer,
00:50:00 if defenses are reacting to what Al's doing on a block,
00:50:04 he's gonna find an open man.
00:50:05 I thought they did a good job of swinging the ball around,
00:50:08 getting it to Al where he had a significant mismatch.
00:50:11 If he's got a guy like Tyler Hero guarding him
00:50:14 or one of the wing guys,
00:50:17 then Al has the green light to go to work
00:50:20 and try to get something going at the rim.
00:50:23 But he's doing what veterans do.
00:50:27 I mean, what you lack in athleticism at this stage,
00:50:30 you should be able to more than make up for in wisdom
00:50:32 and understanding what you can do to be impactful,
00:50:35 even if your body isn't quite competing
00:50:38 at the level that you're used to.
00:50:39 I thought he did a good job of just doing
00:50:41 Al Horford-like things, knock down a couple shots,
00:50:44 make himself present on the boards,
00:50:46 and just be a guy that's contributing to the win.
00:50:50 - No doubt, no doubt.
00:50:53 Very few teams have this kind of luxury, right?
00:50:58 Like to slide a guy like Al Horford into this role.
00:51:02 So, even if you're not getting,
00:51:04 you're not gonna get Porzingis' contribution here,
00:51:06 but a lot of it comes down to how they play when he's,
00:51:10 it's a different game.
00:51:11 I know Joe, Bobby got all bent out of shape.
00:51:13 And thank you, Rainn, very much for watching.
00:51:15 Thank you for listening, especially if you're--
00:51:17 - Thanks, Rainn.
00:51:18 - If you're listening on your way to work,
00:51:20 I know you're watching tonight, but if you miss it,
00:51:23 you of course can watch the replay at any point in time.
00:51:27 It's up all night.
00:51:28 And I know a lot of people do do that,
00:51:29 or they join late and kind of watch on delay
00:51:32 or watch it the next day.
00:51:33 But the audio version's up by the morning.
00:51:35 So again, you can just kind of jump in and, you know,
00:51:38 goof around and listen to us kind of just knock around
00:51:41 a little bit in the morning
00:51:42 if you're doing any morning commute.
00:51:44 The audio version is available
00:51:46 wherever you get your podcast, so go for it.
00:51:49 People were talking about the pace,
00:51:51 and we did talk about this as well.
00:51:53 You do notice when Porzingis is out there,
00:51:56 they do sometimes play with a little better pace.
00:51:58 Jimmy hasn't thought about basketball or this show
00:52:02 for like 20 minutes.
00:52:03 It's all merch right now.
00:52:05 He's all merch right now.
00:52:06 - I'm looking at the chat.
00:52:07 I'm trying to catch up with the chat right now,
00:52:08 to be honest.
00:52:09 - Yeah, he's just thinking about like,
00:52:11 his head's been off the screen for like-
00:52:13 - I'm looking at the chat.
00:52:14 You were right here.
00:52:15 - Jimmy's been like this.
00:52:17 - I know.
00:52:18 - I was like, "Dude." - I was looking at the camera.
00:52:21 - Sorry for wearing our own merch.
00:52:23 My bad. - Yes, I know.
00:52:25 Yeah.
00:52:25 - My bad.
00:52:26 - Jimmy's like, "Let me send this idea to Nick,
00:52:29 "and he'll give me percentages."
00:52:30 Like, "Just focus on the show."
00:52:33 - I didn't say that.
00:52:34 This is my PXG shirts in the wash.
00:52:37 - Well, let me tell you all about it.

00:54:26 - Yeah, your head, your head.
00:54:27 - It's 'cause of the damn helmet, man.
00:54:28 What do you want me to do?
00:54:29 I'm trying to get my shirt in and the helmet in.
00:54:31 You know how difficult it is?
00:54:32 It's because of this three,
00:54:34 it's this camera angle that you've got here.
00:54:36 If you did the other one, I'd have the widescreen.
00:54:39 You can see everything.
00:54:40 - People favor this.
00:54:42 And again, I've asked the chat before,
00:54:44 do you like, when we go four, do you like the slivers?
00:54:47 Do you like the around the horn?
00:54:48 Or do you like the Brady bunch?
00:54:51 - I like this one when it's three.
00:54:53 When it's more, I like the other one.
00:54:55 - Me too, I like the Brady bunch when it's more than three.
00:54:57 I don't like the four.
00:54:59 - I don't like the four, it's too skinny.
00:55:01 Too skinny.
00:55:03 - Yeah.
00:55:05 - Anyways.
00:55:07 - It's too skinny.
00:55:08 - Did you say who you wanted to play, John?
00:55:09 Orlando or Cleveland?
00:55:12 - I'm working through it.
00:55:14 - Well, it's time.
00:55:17 Time to decide right now.
00:55:20 - I'm working through it.
00:55:23 I think I, I guess I'm like a simple caveman
00:55:26 when it comes down to it.
00:55:27 - We know that.
00:55:29 - And I go with the, like, I fear the stars a little bit
00:55:34 more on the Cleveland side of things.
00:55:38 I fear the twin towers a little bit more
00:55:40 with Porzingis out.
00:55:42 I think Cleveland has more ways to beat you.
00:55:43 And again, that one guy who can just win a game
00:55:47 or two by himself, and that's Mitchell on the other side.
00:55:51 I just think they're more dangerous, you know?
00:55:53 I think they can catch you napping a couple of games
00:55:56 if you're not careful.
00:55:58 And I just don't think Orlando's ready yet.
00:56:01 I think they, you know, they don't know who they want to be
00:56:04 when they grow up yet.
00:56:05 Like they're spunky and they're sparky
00:56:07 and every once in a while they'll surprise you
00:56:09 and they are good defensively and they're long.
00:56:11 - I think they're a couple of years away.
00:56:13 - But I don't see it.
00:56:15 So I would prefer to play the Magic.
00:56:17 Cleveland is, I think is a little bit more challenging.
00:56:22 I still expect to win either series without Porzingis.
00:56:27 But I think Cleveland, the prospect of losing is, exists.
00:56:33 But again, I don't see it.
00:56:38 I don't see it.
00:56:39 - You don't think Orlando can just like catch fire
00:56:41 and like little momentum.
00:56:43 - Their offense is dreadful.
00:56:46 - Trag.
00:56:47 - Yeah, it's one of the worst in the playoffs.
00:56:50 Better than Orlando's.
00:56:51 - Orlando can just, I mean, Celtics,
00:56:58 I think the Celtics can play a couple of bad games
00:57:01 and win against Orlando because I think Orlando
00:57:04 is gonna be so offensively challenged.
00:57:06 I think whatever Orlando does to frustrate you defensively,
00:57:09 they might just simply not be able to put up enough offense.
00:57:14 So.
00:57:16 - Yeah, they're not ready.
00:57:17 They're not ready.
00:57:18 Cavs, like I said, Donovan Mitchell,
00:57:21 on any given night, man.
00:57:25 And I love Donovan Mitchell.
00:57:27 He's always been a player that I enjoy watching.
00:57:30 So that kind of adds a little bit to the-
00:57:32 - He's got that thing, right?
00:57:34 Like I know he's not perfect, but he just goes off.
00:57:39 I feel like we see it.
00:57:43 And again, it's one of those things where I bet,
00:57:45 like if you look at the numbers, it's not as big as it seems.
00:57:50 - Nobody who knows ball would correct you for sure.
00:57:55 - I feel like he scores 46 every time he plays the Celtics.
00:57:57 Like it just goes bananas.
00:57:59 - But they've also got, like you said,
00:58:00 they've got some other help there.
00:58:02 Obviously, Allen's a beast in the middle,
00:58:05 but I feel like Garland can give you trouble too.
00:58:09 Those quick guards, right?
00:58:12 On any given night, he can run laps around anybody.
00:58:15 So Cleveland's got some additional help there too.
00:58:19 So I think they're definitely a tougher matchup
00:58:21 for the Celtics.
00:58:22 I think I just have this thing for Orlando.
00:58:24 I just feel like they're like that young enough
00:58:25 up and coming team, but they're just not there yet.
00:58:27 I think that, I don't even think,
00:58:29 be surprised, I guess now thinking about it
00:58:31 if they do beat the Cavs,
00:58:31 but either way the Celtics should be able to handle
00:58:35 either of these teams, Porzingis or not.
00:58:37 I don't, I'm not, I wouldn't say that if you're the Celtics
00:58:41 you're scared of either of them.
00:58:43 And I would say the Celtics would be pretty heavy,
00:58:45 pretty heavy favorite in like the gambling land
00:58:49 for winning that series.
00:58:52 - Yeah. What is interesting just in terms of,
00:58:54 we talk about Orlando being offensively challenged,
00:58:57 Cleveland, and someone put it in the chat here,
00:58:59 Cleveland has broken a hundred,
00:59:01 one a single time in this series.
00:59:03 And that was last game and it was 104.
00:59:07 So their wins have been 97, 83, 96, 86, the losing,
00:59:12 and then they got, and then Orlando had popped off
00:59:16 for two games there, 120, 183, 112, 89,
00:59:19 and Cleveland won that last one, 104, 103.
00:59:23 It's been close. It's been a rock fight.
00:59:25 And again, testament as much to Orlando's defense
00:59:30 as it is like Cleveland's inefficient offense.
00:59:36 But I mean, they're not world beaters by any means,
00:59:39 the Cavs here.
00:59:40 I just think that you have some more dangerous elements
00:59:42 in there offensively than you do with Orlando,
00:59:47 which is just Ben Caro and what, you know?
00:59:50 So.
00:59:53 - Faults, don't forget about faults.
00:59:55 - That guy lost year for him.
00:59:58 Too bad, 'cause I was liking the direction he was going,
01:00:02 but he had a mess of a year here,
01:00:05 missing a ton of games.
01:00:06 I think he played like 20 something games.
01:00:08 So, yeah.
01:00:11 But yeah, Cleveland's not,
01:00:13 Cleveland, they're not world beaters either.
01:00:15 You know, they lighten things up offensively
01:00:17 and they haven't been all season long.
01:00:18 So I mean, both of these teams have to play almost perfect
01:00:22 or the Celtics have to puke all over themselves,
01:00:24 I think, for this to be whatever.
01:00:27 But again, if you talk about one thing
01:00:30 that one team does that's elite, it's Orlando's defense.
01:00:33 If you're worried about that, you know,
01:00:34 like Cleveland's kind of mid, mid.
01:00:36 Orlando has a legit defense.
01:00:38 You know, they do.
01:00:41 - I'll tell you what though.
01:00:42 I'm glad they're not playing the winner of
01:00:44 the Knicks Sixers series.
01:00:48 That's been an unbelievable series.
01:00:50 Both those teams look ready to go.
01:00:53 - Yeah.
01:00:54 That was a ton of fun.
01:00:55 - Thank you.
01:00:56 - I was watching that game and not paying attention.
01:01:01 And I was like, "Oh, I wonder what that Maxi three does."
01:01:03 And I was like, "Oh my God, they tied it."
01:01:05 I thought I was already written it off.
01:01:07 - Crazy shot, yeah.
01:01:08 - That was crazy.
01:01:09 And honestly, Milwaukee, massive gut check there.
01:01:11 You know why Bobby Portis found it insulting
01:01:15 that he was on the trade block for Grant Williams?
01:01:17 'Cause he, you know.
01:01:20 - Yeah.
01:01:21 - Guys, Grant ain't leading a team to a victory here.
01:01:24 I'm gonna give Bobby, what, three more minutes?
01:01:28 Five more minutes?
01:01:29 We'll call it.
01:01:30 - What are they doing?
01:01:31 - We're at an hour.
01:01:32 We're at an hour.
01:01:33 - I know.
01:01:34 - We're at an hour.
01:01:35 - I talk about this all the time.
01:01:36 - We're at an hour.
01:01:37 - They're onto the second round,
01:01:40 not the NBA finals, not the-
01:01:42 - Well, those guys will be up with other members
01:01:45 of the Stay Ready crew in the Garden Post game.
01:01:47 So maybe we'll save Bobby's commentary
01:01:50 for the Garden Report Post-Post game show.
01:01:53 Guys, anything else before we wrap it?
01:01:55 - Should we talk Cornette since we didn't at all?
01:01:57 - No.
01:01:58 - No.
01:01:59 - No.
01:02:00 - No.
01:02:01 - He played.
01:02:02 - He played fine.
01:02:02 It didn't matter.
01:02:03 I was just gonna troll Bobby a little bit.
01:02:04 He had two points, seven rebounds, two assists a block.
01:02:09 - But listen, I said this last game,
01:02:11 he just needs to go in and not hurt them.
01:02:14 And that's exactly what he did.
01:02:15 - Not lose your minutes.
01:02:16 Not lose your minutes.
01:02:16 - Exactly.
01:02:18 I mean, if they can-
01:02:19 - That's what he does.
01:02:21 - I mean, yeah, offensively-wise,
01:02:23 sure, you'd want more than two points,
01:02:24 but if he can go in there and just hold the fort down
01:02:28 as best he can and give Horford a little time to get back
01:02:31 in, oh, he heard the word Cornette and he came running.
01:02:36 - Bobby, I was this close to turning this car around.
01:02:41 - Bobby, you have 30 seconds, final thoughts.
01:02:43 - Yeah, just got out of Jason Tatum
01:02:47 and I'm glad I stuck on in with him
01:02:49 because he had some pretty interesting comments,
01:02:52 which isn't always the case from him.
01:02:54 - Tell us later.
01:02:56 - Talking about their toughness
01:02:58 and how he doesn't agree with the perception
01:03:02 that this team isn't tough.
01:03:04 And he thinks some of the toughness associated
01:03:06 with other teams and I think alluding to the heat
01:03:09 in many ways is that it's not easy to tough the Celtics
01:03:13 just because you're loud and audacious out there
01:03:18 on the court and you make a bigger commotion out there
01:03:21 or you just commit fouls or whatever it might be.
01:03:24 That doesn't align with toughness necessarily, he said.
01:03:27 And the other thing I found interesting, of course,
01:03:30 is that like we said, going into this series,
01:03:33 seeing the heat on the other side
01:03:34 create a greater sense of urgency from the Celtics.
01:03:37 They slept walked through that first round series
01:03:40 against the Hawks last year.
01:03:41 Tatum said literally that they relaxed in that series
01:03:47 and that wasn't gonna be the case here.
01:03:48 And he said, right when the playing tournament
01:03:52 was coming together, he put in his mind
01:03:54 that they were gonna play Miami
01:03:55 and they took care of business here.
01:03:57 I didn't think tonight was gonna be easy.
01:03:58 Obviously, everybody saw my tweet by now.
01:04:01 This ended up being easy.
01:04:04 The heat just didn't have enough in this series.
01:04:06 And I think we were robbed of a great series
01:04:08 in many ways by those injuries on the other side,
01:04:11 but these are the breaks you get
01:04:12 on the way to a championship.
01:04:13 And to go back to Joe Mizzou's commentary before the series,
01:04:17 this is the stuff people forget
01:04:18 when you win a championship.
01:04:20 No one's gonna remember if the Celtics win
01:04:23 three series from now that the heat didn't have anybody.
01:04:26 They'll just be champions.
01:04:27 And every team has gotten those kind of breaks
01:04:29 along the way.
01:04:30 - Who said you can't out-tough the Celtics?
01:04:33 - Tatum.
01:04:35 - Tatum said that?
01:04:37 - No, he said you can't necessarily out-tough.
01:04:42 You know what I mean?
01:04:44 Like, it's not easy to out-tough the Celtics,
01:04:48 as people would say.
01:04:49 - Okay, meaning people say it
01:04:52 and he thinks it's not that easy?
01:04:54 - Yeah.
01:04:55 - He thinks we're wrong.
01:04:56 - He thinks we're wrong?
01:04:57 - Yeah, and great quote from him.
01:05:02 - Yeah.
01:05:03 - You wanna clap back at what the perception is?
01:05:05 Go ahead.
01:05:07 And I think they did that in this series to a large degree.
01:05:10 The heat tried it, John.
01:05:15 - What's that?
01:05:18 - The heat tried in many different circumstances here
01:05:20 and none of it worked.
01:05:22 Whether you wanna say it was mixing up defenses
01:05:24 or getting a little chippy and dirty at times,
01:05:27 it just didn't work.
01:05:28 None of it worked.
01:05:29 - I think the heat could have played six guys
01:05:31 for half the game for this series and still struggled.
01:05:34 Look, an under-man team, the heat at full strength
01:05:39 probably have to resort to gimmicks and tactics
01:05:43 and different things to win.
01:05:45 Zone, Bam's ridiculous, like moving screens
01:05:52 and weird tactics, Caleb Martin's bullshit,
01:05:55 Tyler Herro acting tough.
01:05:57 Yeah, I'm sure there's lots of things there.
01:05:59 And Josue, come to you now or when the guests get here?
01:06:03 Thumbs up?
01:06:04 Now, okay, we're good.
01:06:06 But that's what you have to do, right?
01:06:09 If you're Miami, that's what you have to do
01:06:11 to beat the Celtics.
01:06:14 You gotta try unorthodox things
01:06:16 'cause you're not just gonna go out
01:06:17 and play 'em straight up.
01:06:21 - Yeah, and we're gonna figure that in the next series
01:06:24 because I think those are two teams
01:06:26 that in a similar way to the heat,
01:06:28 obviously with more health to their advantage,
01:06:31 are gonna try to out-tough the Celtics in those series.
01:06:34 Cavs, Magic, especially the Magic
01:06:37 who have to lean all the way in on defense
01:06:40 to compete in that series.
01:06:41 So it's gonna be interesting.
01:06:42 Not much to talk about either of those teams tonight.
01:06:45 Derek just said they're both good.
01:06:47 He left it at that.
01:06:49 So it's gonna be interesting to see how it plays out.
01:06:52 I don't know if I can sit here for five days
01:06:54 waiting for this next series.
01:06:56 So I hope they get it done Friday.
01:06:57 - Selfish, Bobby.
01:07:00 Let the Celtics take their time, man.
01:07:01 They need it.
01:07:02 I mean, they don't need it, but it'd be nice.
01:07:03 - They don't need five days.
01:07:05 - But you're not gonna get that again
01:07:07 the rest of the way here.
01:07:08 So why not?
01:07:09 I don't think it's the worst thing in the world
01:07:10 for these guys.
01:07:11 I mean, they've proven when they were waiting
01:07:12 throughout the playing tournament
01:07:14 that they can quote-unquote stay ready.
01:07:17 So I don't think it makes a difference, honestly.
01:07:18 It's just about ready when the moment,
01:07:20 when the series ready to kick off, you know?
01:07:22 And after what happened to Chris Dasporzinga,
01:07:25 it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world
01:07:26 to get an extra couple of days.
01:07:27 - No, I'd just get it started.
01:07:32 You don't wanna get rusty.
01:07:34 You don't need this extra preparation time.
01:07:35 - Bobby just doesn't wanna sit around.
01:07:38 These guys don't wanna get rusty, man.
01:07:40 - Obviously, like I said, I'm saying,
01:07:41 you don't wanna sit around.
01:07:42 That's my point.
01:07:43 - Yeah.
01:07:44 - We need the main Celtics to reopen their season.
01:07:47 - Yeah, exactly.
01:07:49 - Well, let me tell you, wait, what?
01:07:51 - Maybe I should go to Red Sox, some Red Sox.
01:07:54 - I'm gonna, I'm gonna, you didn't say that.
01:07:56 - Or you could generate cool content
01:07:58 for the Celtics that you cover, you know?
01:08:00 You know, it doesn't always have to be.
01:08:02 - Yeah, you can do other stuff, right?
01:08:05 - I'll take anything.
01:08:06 - Great idea, John, great idea.
01:08:08 - Why don't you pitch me?
01:08:09 - All right, how about, how about right here?
01:08:12 I'll pitch it to you.
01:08:13 - Let's get it.
01:08:14 - Luke Cornett is ready.
01:08:16 - Okay, okay.
01:08:17 - Let's take a break for these extra minutes.
01:08:18 Interrupted, did we talk about it?
01:08:20 - No.
01:08:21 - Did you guys talk about the lemon squares
01:08:22 in the media dining?
01:08:24 - The churrata.
01:08:26 - The lemon squares, yeah.
01:08:27 - Look what you did to Churrata.
01:08:28 Look what you did to Churrata.
01:08:28 - Look what you did to Churrata.
01:08:29 - That's all I needed.
01:08:30 - I'm leaving the hole there, just so you know what you did.
01:08:32 I'm leaving that hole to run back.
01:08:35 - Yeah, he's putting his laptop in his bag right now.
01:08:38 - Okay, here we go.
01:08:38 - Damn, I'm trying to get here.
01:08:39 - Oh, he's back, here we go.
01:08:41 What do you got, Cornett?
01:08:42 - So, I'll say this.
01:08:43 My prediction was he was gonna have
01:08:45 a regular season style Cornett game,
01:08:48 where he's scoring, getting some rebounds.
01:08:50 - He said five dunks.
01:08:51 - One of the higher end games, yeah, like a five dunk game.
01:08:54 We didn't get that, but we got the effective,
01:08:58 rim protecting, energy providing, passing Cornett.
01:09:03 The complimentary version of Cornett.
01:09:06 And I'll take it.
01:09:07 And yes, John, the plus 20 wasn't all him,
01:09:11 but it's just a credit to him being able
01:09:13 to survive those winnets.
01:09:15 - He definitely lacked a little context.
01:09:17 He'd scored zero points,
01:09:19 and everyone else was like plus a million.
01:09:21 - He got robbed of the alley-oop though.
01:09:23 That was a bad call.
01:09:25 - Okay, he could have had two points.
01:09:29 - Yeah, I don't know if robbed's the right word.
01:09:31 - Damn, John.
01:09:33 Damn, John Hill.
01:09:34 - He's fine.
01:09:35 Just don't make us say bad things, okay?
01:09:38 Luke did it.
01:09:40 - I love the Cornett-corpia of baked goods
01:09:44 in this Cornett cam, it's the best.
01:09:47 - Cornett-copia.
01:09:47 - I love that.
01:09:48 - Cornett-copia.
01:09:50 - Cornett-copia.
01:09:51 Tournament.
01:09:53 - Let's see if we get some matchup stats.
01:09:56 No, we don't, but I thought he was fantastic against Bam.
01:09:59 I thought he held guys out on the floaters.
01:10:02 The defense was great.
01:10:04 This is about all you can ask for from your third center.
01:10:08 It is strange there isn't a lemon square in that graphic.
01:10:10 He's not your third center, Bobby.
01:10:12 Now, so here's the thing.
01:10:13 - He's number two.
01:10:15 - Legit, okay?
01:10:18 Everything changes, right?
01:10:19 - I'm not joking.
01:10:20 - No, I'm not joking.
01:10:22 I'm gonna tell this, I'm gonna say this to you now.
01:10:25 I don't know how to get this off the screen.
01:10:27 I really don't know how.
01:10:28 - Cornett cam?
01:10:29 I'll do it.
01:10:31 I put it on.
01:10:32 - Yeah, Jimmy's probably the one that put it on.
01:10:34 - Okay, so here's the thing, Bobby.
01:10:38 When Luke Cornett goes from being your second center,
01:10:41 your third center to your second center,
01:10:43 the expectations completely change, okay?
01:10:47 Because your second center used to be Al Horford,
01:10:50 and now that's the standard by which you're judged.
01:10:54 Those are the minutes you're theoretically taking there.
01:10:59 So if you're the best third center in the league,
01:11:02 you're the blank second center in the league.
01:11:05 Like, you have to play it, you have to do a lot more
01:11:10 to still like pay out.
01:11:13 And so that's what's gonna be hard is,
01:11:15 for an entire series as the actual second center,
01:11:19 playing against other actual tall people
01:11:22 and being asked to do things like defend the paint
01:11:25 is a little scary, is it not?
01:11:28 Like, Cornett third center minutes, fine.
01:11:30 Cornett second center minutes, I don't know.
01:11:33 I don't know.
01:11:35 I don't think it's scary.
01:11:36 I just think he's been so consistent all year.
01:11:39 And he's stronger. - As a third center.
01:11:41 If he were the second center all year,
01:11:43 it would be different.
01:11:44 He'd be considered poor for a second center.
01:11:48 He's a good third center. - It's fair.
01:11:50 You're gonna get, I think. - As a second center.
01:11:53 If that'd be called from final series,
01:11:54 I don't think it's that terrible.
01:11:55 - It's harder, yeah. - Yeah, it's not ideal.
01:11:57 - I think those are good matches for him, though.
01:12:00 The Cavs played double big,
01:12:02 not a ton of shooting on that team.
01:12:04 In fact, they've put no shooting on the floor
01:12:06 in their series so far.
01:12:07 I think their offensive rating's 98.
01:12:10 So you can drop a center against the Cavs.
01:12:13 The Magic, similar story.
01:12:14 There's not a lot of shooting in their backcourt.
01:12:16 So you can drop a center against the Magic.
01:12:18 I feel really good about him entering this next series.
01:12:21 And I feel good about the Celtics as a whole.
01:12:22 - Either team. - For all the Cornett talk here,
01:12:24 Horford was awesome the night.
01:12:26 Stepped right in, didn't miss a beat.
01:12:28 I thought they almost played with a style.
01:12:31 - Yeah.
01:12:33 - Do you guys have a preference?
01:12:34 Before we wrap it, I'll ask your guys your preference.
01:12:36 Celtics, who do you like?
01:12:38 - Cavs.
01:12:41 - It depends what you're looking for.
01:12:42 - You want your brother to play the Cavs?
01:12:43 - Interest, from an interest perspective.
01:12:46 - No, I mean, matchup-wise,
01:12:47 who gives the Celtics more problems?
01:12:49 - The Magic give you fewer problems.
01:12:51 They can't beat you in a series.
01:12:54 - They can't score.
01:12:55 - Yeah, I mean, the Magic give you fewer problems,
01:12:59 but the Cavs, I just think it'd be a,
01:13:01 it's a better test for the Celtics team.
01:13:04 And I don't think it's a,
01:13:05 I don't think the Cleveland Cavaliers win that series,
01:13:09 honestly, 'cause they still have enough,
01:13:10 even without Chris Dasporzingas,
01:13:12 which we'll most likely not see
01:13:13 throughout that entire series.
01:13:15 - Yeah.
01:13:16 - Yeah, but Cleveland's got a guy
01:13:17 that can win a game for you.
01:13:18 So I prefer Orlando.
01:13:20 - Right, crunch time. - I might.
01:13:23 The defense is tough, but yeah, I might.
01:13:25 Here's that Tatum tough bite.
01:13:26 - Just being honest with ourselves, right?
01:13:30 What are teams, what's their message,
01:13:33 what's their game plan to beat us?
01:13:36 And it's to pick up the pace, the pressure,
01:13:40 be more, crash the glass, do all the intangible things.
01:13:44 So if we know that, why don't we flip the script
01:13:49 and be the tougher team?
01:13:52 Why don't we crash the glass more?
01:13:55 We pick up the pressure on defense,
01:13:58 while still being the talented team that we are.
01:14:01 Be tough to beat us.
01:14:03 - He's right.
01:14:07 He's right.
01:14:08 - Well, I mean, in theory, sure.
01:14:10 That's kind of like what simple-minded people like us say
01:14:15 when you watch a game,
01:14:17 it looks like they're not doing that,
01:14:18 is like, why don't you just play hard?
01:14:21 Make that your thing instead of like,
01:14:24 well, we got the shots we wanted,
01:14:26 we gave them the shots we wanted to give up,
01:14:28 or just crash the glass, die for loose balls,
01:14:33 play hard, fight through screens, move around,
01:14:37 get back on defense, push the ball up and transition off.
01:14:41 Push it up off of makes, doesn't matter.
01:14:43 Play hard, play fast.
01:14:45 I think always when you're putting pressure on people,
01:14:47 that makes you tougher.
01:14:50 You're tougher to defend, you're tougher to deal with.
01:14:52 I don't understand why the Celtics
01:14:54 kind of sometimes make it easy on teams.
01:14:57 You always want to be harder to play against.
01:15:00 And sometimes the standing around
01:15:01 or the giving people space or conceding certain shots,
01:15:05 which is what they did in that loss for sure,
01:15:08 and a couple of times during the series,
01:15:10 that's not tough.
01:15:11 That's kind of like, I'll live with it.
01:15:14 I'll live with the consequences here.
01:15:16 Daring people to shoot isn't tough.
01:15:18 Even if it's smart, it isn't tough.
01:15:22 It's easier to have a tough mentality
01:15:24 if you kind of play that way all the time, right?
01:15:26 - Right.
01:15:29 - Yeah, but he's right.
01:15:31 Like that's-
01:15:32 - I think every series the rest of the way.
01:15:33 - More pressure than yapping, yeah.
01:15:36 - Yeah, I think when we say tough,
01:15:37 we're not talking about- - I think every series
01:15:38 the rest of the way could require that.
01:15:40 - Yeah, I mean, really just the playoffs, right?
01:15:43 That's just what it is.
01:15:44 So that's it.
01:15:46 - When we say tough, I mean physical.
01:15:48 I mean physicality.
01:15:49 - Yeah, but I think all of that,
01:15:52 just playing fast, playing hard is tough.
01:15:54 But what did we say real quick before we wrap it?
01:15:58 Is it if Cleveland wraps it up Friday,
01:16:00 is game one Sunday?
01:16:01 Is that what they said?
01:16:03 - Yes, that's what they said, yeah.
01:16:05 - All right, so we'll see.
01:16:06 We're either back on Sunday
01:16:07 or we are on Tuesday at the Garden for game one,
01:16:11 one team or another.
01:16:12 If one team wins,
01:16:15 maybe we'll do something preview related prior to then,
01:16:18 preview the matchup and get into it.
01:16:20 But other than that, look for us on the Garden Report
01:16:23 on game night, either Sunday, we believe during the day,
01:16:28 or Tuesday night.
01:16:29 We're gonna wrap it.
01:16:30 Hard hats, fellas.
01:16:31 This all goes to win this one, 118-84.
01:16:34 Wrap it up.
01:16:35 Take care of Miami, their nemesis.
01:16:38 - I think that's it for Miami.
01:16:40 We may never see them again.
01:16:42 - They'll fight, you know why you'll see them again?
01:16:44 'Cause it's one of four or five destinations
01:16:48 everybody wants to play for or get traded to.
01:16:51 People are gonna find their way to Miami one way or another.
01:16:54 They're not going anywhere.
01:16:55 As long as Riley's there, as long as Bolster's there,
01:16:57 they're gonna have some magic.
01:16:59 So I wouldn't be done.
01:17:00 But anyway, thank you guys for hanging out.
01:17:02 We are gonna wrap it.
01:17:03 You're on the Garden Report.
01:17:05 Thanks to the guys down there.
01:17:07 Yup.
01:17:07 - Real quick, saw Chris Dasport Ziggins in the hallway.
01:17:10 No walking boot, no security detail.
01:17:15 No one helping him walk it on his own.
01:17:17 So he looked pretty good compared to two nights ago,
01:17:19 for sure.
01:17:20 A lot better.
01:17:21 - Did he have a suit on?
01:17:23 - No suit.
01:17:24 - He clothed.
01:17:25 - That's a great call, Jimmy.
01:17:25 I mean, maybe that's a pregame thing he does,
01:17:27 but he was in much more relaxed clothing,
01:17:30 making his way out of TD Garden.
01:17:32 - If he can dress himself, he's good to go.
01:17:35 That's all we need.
01:17:35 So yes, all things pointing up.
01:17:38 Celtics win the series.
01:17:39 Poor Ziggins clothed and walking around.
01:17:42 Way to go.
01:17:42 Jimmy, how many more wins?
01:17:44 - 12 to go.
01:17:44 - 12 wins.
01:17:45 - Yay!
01:17:47 - That's an easy one.
01:17:48 - A Baker's dozen.
01:17:49 There you go, Jimmy.
01:17:50 - We'll see you guys for...
01:17:51 No, that's 13, Josue.
01:17:52 - That's not a number, Josue.
01:17:53 - A Baker's dozen is 13.
01:17:56 It's 13.
01:17:57 We'll see you guys in the next game.
01:17:58 Bye-bye.
01:17:59 - Wait, Ahmed's got an outro for us, I think.
01:18:01 - No, he doesn't.
01:18:02 - He said he was gonna work on an outro.
01:18:05 - He had a phenomenal game.
01:18:07 - Phenomenal game.
01:18:08 (laughing)
01:18:10 - Poor Firdoud.
01:18:11 I think it's an odd one.
01:18:12 (laughing)
01:18:15 - That did not sound like a chair.
01:18:17 - It was a freaking chair.
01:18:19 It does sound like a chair.
01:18:20 What do you want for your third center?
01:18:24 (upbeat music)
01:18:26 (upbeat music)
