00:00 Hello Vogue, I'm gonna walk you through my everyday skincare routine.
00:09 When I wake up, I want to wake up my skin.
00:14 You know, as I tell you, every day when I wake up, I do a lot of stretches and things
00:18 like that.
00:19 And so I do the same thing with this.
00:21 I use this essence just to give it some moisture.
00:29 All over.
00:30 And it's got all that to wake it up.
00:32 Because we Asians tend to have a little bit fleshy cheeks, and I want to have that nice
00:38 little contour going.
00:40 So and then under the eyes as well, all the way up.
00:43 Normally when I'm doing all this, I'm doing my squats.
00:46 But if I do my full squat, you'll see me disappearing from the screen.
00:50 I guess you don't want that.
00:52 Remember, you can do your kicks, you can do your stretches while you are also waking up
00:57 and exercising.
01:03 I have this cold ice water into this HR roller.
01:12 I normally have two.
01:15 On your eyes.
01:16 Give you that clean jawline.
01:21 It's what we all aspire to have.
01:25 My earliest memory of taking care of my skin is seeing my mom do this every day.
01:33 Morning and night.
01:35 And she does all these incredible things where she's like, it's like doing martial arts on
01:42 her face.
01:43 She's 83 and she looks stunning.
01:45 So you know, I love this new product that I discovered.
01:49 Helena Rubinstein mask.
01:51 You warm it up and the contours of your face all the way across and never forget your forehead.
02:02 This is like the warm up massage for the face and the neck and all the limp nodes that surround.
02:09 It's like wakes up.
02:12 All the little nerves in the head.
02:15 I think it helps with the growth of your hair as well.
02:17 And I do it all over.
02:22 With your skin, the most important is drinking water.
02:26 That really helps because I think when you have good skin, that's just sets up a beautiful
02:32 canvas for you to be able to paint on your makeup.
02:38 Eye cream is very important for me.
02:40 I don't normally rub.
02:43 I like to give it a little pat.
02:45 Like do little jumps for the face and all the muscles.
02:51 I never leave the house without sunblock.
02:54 Since I am going out for a hike later on, I am using a little sunblock that's heavier
03:01 than usual.
03:05 My skincare routine changes depending on the climate I am going to.
03:11 If I am going back to Malaysia or to Asia where it's more humid, then I use a lighter
03:17 lotion kind of skincare.
03:20 But if I am going to, for example, where it's winter and the conditions are more severe
03:25 and harsh, then I tend to use slightly creamier.
03:30 I am using a natural sheer foundation because one thing I learned is when you have makeup
03:36 that's too thick or a foundation that's too thick, it tends to highlight the creases that
03:44 you normally would prefer not to have.
03:49 And I use a little concealer.
03:52 My favorite is the Clé de Peau concealer because I have some unfortunately sun spots that I
03:57 had from a long time before when I used to stay out in the sun for too long without using
04:04 the right products in my younger wild days.
04:08 So now older, wiser, but then you still have to pay for mistakes that you did before.
04:15 Fortunately, my mom loves makeup so she's always very careful with eyebrows.
04:21 And she's a very good makeup artist because she's practicing on herself like all the time.
04:26 So that's one thing that she always taught me was like, don't let anybody pluck your
04:30 eyebrows because they just don't grow back properly.
04:34 I'm quite blessed with a very natural.
04:39 I try not to over pluck it.
04:41 I just leave it the way it is.
04:44 At night, generally, I use a serum to help with the growth.
04:49 I just fill in all the blanks, but not too much.
04:54 I always like a little bit of color on the cheeks.
04:59 I like it a little further up.
05:01 So it sort of highlights the cheekbones a little bit more.
05:06 Generally with hair and makeup, I try to be involved all the time because you have to
05:10 be comfortable.
05:11 But also of course, when you are playing a role, you're not being yourself, then it's
05:15 very different.
05:16 You have to understand why that that kind of makeup is being used.
05:20 The most important, I think for me, is like the foundation because nowadays with the lighting
05:24 and all that, it doesn't have to be the old style cakey.
05:28 You can see it sticking out like a mile.
05:30 It can look like you have little, almost your own skin coming through.
05:35 So that is the kind of makeup I like.
05:37 And fortunately, even in Wicked where it is so glamorous and theatrical, the makeup is
05:45 still beautiful.
05:47 But I am lazy normally, so I like to be able to have my makeup done in like 10 minutes
05:55 or under.
05:56 So really it's just a little bit of the eyeliner to highlight the eye.
06:02 I don't like it too thick, especially if it's during the day.
06:05 I just want it to be there, a hint of it.
06:09 I do like to give it a little bit of a contour, you know, just to highlight the cheekbones.
06:15 So I am going to redo my eye.
06:17 I like to give it a little bit of color sometimes.
06:21 Don't run away.
06:22 And this one is like an olive color.
06:25 I do my eye line very close to my lash line just to give it like a complete look.
06:37 A little bit of mascara.
06:42 A little bit of lipstick goes a long way.
06:47 That's it.
06:51 I've played in the last two years, three, and I find very different mothers.
06:57 Eleanor Young from Crazy Rich Asians, Evelyn Wong from Everything Everywhere All at Once,
07:04 and now Eileen's son from Brothers' Son.
07:08 All mothers are pretty much the same, no matter whatever culture, whatever language you're
07:13 speaking.
07:14 There are certain gestures that just like transcend and it's global.
07:17 I've been brought up with, you know, to always be who you are, be true to yourself.
07:22 You can't hide.
07:24 You can pretend to be something different for a little while, but eventually who you
07:29 are will always come shining through.
07:32 And I think the most important thing for me is to be able to find and fine tune a nicer
07:38 me, a kinder me.
07:40 And so I think in that way, this is what you get.
07:45 This is pretty impressive because one little thing will just clear it all up.
07:53 Thank you so much for watching and putting up with me and my silly little tips.
07:58 Have fun.
07:59 Go and have a nice day.
