00:02 Hey Vogue, it's Tate McRae.
00:06 Today I'm gonna be showing you my skincare routine
00:08 and my everyday makeup routine.
00:10 First things first is I put in these little hair clips.
00:13 First thing I'm gonna go in with
00:14 is this Augustina's Fader Serum.
00:17 Do like a little blot like that.
00:19 I started getting the worst acne of my life
00:22 right before I went on SNL.
00:24 I actually had to get like a cortisone shot in my cheek.
00:28 And it's just been so bad this past year.
00:30 So I really had to focus on not wearing too much makeup
00:33 and making sure my skin looks okay.
00:36 Little rose eye patches.
00:38 Usually before I go on set for music videos,
00:41 I'll put these on so I don't look dead.
00:43 And while this is going on, I'm gonna roll my face out.
00:50 And I kind of just do this
00:53 to bring circulation back to my skin.
00:57 Feel a teensy bit more awake.
00:58 Next thing we're gonna go in
00:59 with the Augustina's Fader Moisturizer.
01:01 The last two months of my life have been utter chaos.
01:04 And I feel like for the first time
01:05 I've like really seen it show through my skin.
01:08 So I think it's finding clean products
01:10 that have really helped keep it feeling okay.
01:13 Whenever I go back to Calgary, which is where I'm from,
01:18 it is probably the driest place on earth.
01:21 Like sucks up everything you do.
01:23 Your makeup looks terrible.
01:24 So you have to make sure you're like
01:26 using a deep moisturizer.
01:27 Next up, I'm gonna use this Supergoop Sunscreen.
01:30 I have been trying to use sunscreen more and more
01:34 because I know how important it is,
01:35 but it's so easy to forget sometimes.
01:38 Mario Badescu lip balm.
01:42 My makeup, I can usually do on tour with no mirror
01:49 in like six minutes.
01:50 I'm gonna spray my face.
01:51 Usually I wake up feeling a little pale
01:55 and I need some life back into my face.
01:58 So I will grab this Drunk Elephant tanning drops.
02:03 And what I do is I'm gonna put like a tiny little blot
02:05 of my moisturizer now.
02:07 And I'm gonna take a bigger blot of this tanning like that.
02:11 Next up, this one is very inconsistent
02:17 because I don't always wear foundation.
02:19 This Chanel foundation.
02:21 This one's super watery.
02:22 I like that because I just don't like it
02:23 to look too thick on my face.
02:25 My everyday makeup routine and my stage makeup
02:27 are so different.
02:29 Mostly because I'm dancing on stage and I'm sweating
02:32 and the lights are so bright.
02:35 So usually I'll put on like a pretty thick base.
02:39 Just be a little more amplified.
02:40 I learned how to do stage makeup
02:43 when I was like nine years old
02:44 because I competed all the time.
02:46 And then my mom just was like,
02:48 you have to do your own makeup.
02:49 So I just started to teach myself.
02:51 I'm very fortunate because my mom
02:53 has really good skin genes.
02:55 She literally has not had to touch her skin
02:58 a day in her life.
02:58 I'm gonna go in with my brow gel, Charlotte Tilbury.
03:03 I don't really do anything to my eyebrows.
03:09 They're kind of fluffy, so I'll just lift them up.
03:12 If anything, I'll like tweeze like right in between
03:15 my eyebrows because I can get a unibrow sometimes.
03:21 I never really expected to go into the music industry.
03:24 I just honestly had a big passion for poetry.
03:27 When I was about six years old,
03:28 my grandpa got me a piano
03:31 and I realized you could sing your poetry.
03:33 And then I started a YouTube channel
03:35 and started posting weekly original videos
03:38 when I was about 13 years old.
03:39 I would write about my classmates
03:42 and like the people I had crushes on
03:44 and everything in middle school.
03:45 And then I would literally just like post it on Friday
03:48 and show up to school on Monday, like nothing happened.
03:50 I give myself kudos for that.
03:51 I'm gonna go in with the Charlotte Tilbury bronzer.
03:54 The last like couple months,
03:55 I feel like I've actually been able to like dance in videos
03:58 and have like my vision that I wanted for everything
04:01 and being able to dance with obviously dancers
04:03 I really admire and love.
04:05 So that's been a really fun process.
04:07 Next, I'm gonna go in with this NARS concealer.
04:12 I kind of change my shade every once in a while,
04:15 depending on what the season is.
04:16 [upbeat music]
04:19 I feel very lucky.
04:24 I have a lot of friends in the industry.
04:26 If Olivia were to ask me to do something
04:28 or Iris were to ask me to do something
04:29 or Finley dances with me on tour sometimes
04:32 who's my best friend.
04:32 And I feel like we all just kind of work together
04:34 and it's really fun.
04:35 I mean, we keep it all really casual and exciting.
04:38 I'm gonna go in with this again.
04:39 I like to do it across the bridge of my nose
04:41 'cause it kind of just makes you look a little sun kissed.
04:45 A lot of people do this with blush
04:46 but my makeup artist taught me this.
04:49 It's one of my like signature looks now.
04:51 I'm so excited for 2024
04:54 just 'cause I'm going on a big world tour.
04:57 I'm also playing my hometown for the first time.
04:59 I'm going to take the Charlotte Tilbury
05:01 little highlighter stick.
05:03 Yeah, I'm actually gonna go in one more time
05:08 with the concealer and touch up a few spots.
05:11 (upbeat music)
05:14 Okay, I'm gonna go into an eye.
05:17 So here's a little YSL kit.
05:18 I'm gonna put a little bit of shimmer
05:19 at the front of my eye.
05:20 I love a little sparkle sometimes.
05:22 Then I go back in with the bronzer
05:26 into the crease of the eye.
05:27 What I've learned is now that I'm like dancing
05:32 and singing together,
05:33 it's obviously like such a different feeling.
05:36 When I do an acoustic set and I'm sitting down
05:38 and I'm breathing normally, it's like much easier to sing
05:40 but then you understand why Beyonce and Miley Cyrus
05:43 and all of them run on the treadmill and sing
05:45 because you can lose your breath really fast.
05:48 But I've attempted to run on the treadmill and sing
05:51 and it is so hard.
05:53 I'm gonna go in with this Benefit eyeliner.
05:55 Doing a winged eyeliner.
05:58 This is what I have been doing for so many years
06:00 but it's still the most challenging thing ever.
06:03 I like to approach my music videos sometimes
06:07 just like getting things checked off my bucket list.
06:10 What I wanted for the "Greedy" music video
06:12 is I was like how dope would it be
06:14 if I had these like huge six inch heels on
06:16 and I was just like coming in on this like massive Zamboni.
06:19 And so then we ended up doing this like whole hockey theme
06:22 for my music video.
06:23 The way that it looked just like felt really cool.
06:25 Like I wore this one hockey glove on tour the whole time
06:28 and just felt like a badass.
06:30 The telescopic mascara.
06:31 Now I'm gonna go in with a little Charlotte Tilbury
06:37 lip liner.
06:38 I over line like a little bit.
06:40 I always have looked up to Zendaya.
06:45 She has been fashion, beauty.
06:49 I watched all her interviews.
06:50 Just the way that she carries herself is like
06:53 I admire so much.
06:54 I love a glossy lip.
06:56 This is my favorite.
06:57 I try to keep my own natural lip color
06:59 and then put a gloss over.
07:02 This is my favorite thing.
07:03 I've been doing this for such a long time.
07:06 The Freck XL.
07:08 And I like to dab it on my finger like this
07:11 and then I put it on my face like that.
07:16 And it just makes it a little more natural.
07:18 Let's say a makeup artist does so much on my face
07:23 and it's super glam.
07:24 I'll be like add freckles
07:25 and it instantly looks so much more natural.
07:28 I'm gonna use the Cuddly The Spring Setting Mist.
07:35 This is important before shows.
07:37 This is like a dream come true
07:40 that I'm actually doing this.
07:41 I used to watch Rihanna's all the time
07:43 when she would walk into the bathroom
07:45 and she'd like retry it.
07:47 I just love her.
07:48 Oh my gosh.
07:49 My hair is such a big part of my performance.
07:53 I love a good hair whip.
07:55 It's like the biggest part of the choreography.
07:56 And so when I have a fan in front of me,
07:58 I can do so much and it,
08:00 I feel like I have my JLo moment.
08:04 This is the Too Faced Concealer.
08:05 If I feel like I'm missing any spots,
08:07 I'll put it on just to smooth it.
08:09 See, so much smoother.
08:10 What happens is you over listen to your music
08:13 when it's unreleased because you can still make changes
08:16 and you're the only one that has it.
08:18 And then it releases
08:19 and I literally just will never listen to it again.
08:22 Otherwise I will find mixed notes and fine notes
08:25 and I will have a panic attack
08:27 because I will want to change everything.
08:30 The last step is a fragrance.
08:31 This one is my favorite.
08:32 It has like a hint of like vanilla.
08:34 [spritzing]
08:35 Couple spritz.
08:36 I do it with my wrist.
08:38 I'm gonna take out these little clippies.
08:40 And that's it.
08:42 I love you guys.
08:43 That was my everyday makeup routine.
08:45 Mwah.
08:46 I'll see you soon.
08:47 (electronic beeping)
