00:02 Hi, I'm Jen, Jennifer Garner.
00:07 I'm gonna take you through my beauty secrets right now.
00:10 First of all, favorite ponytail holder.
00:12 I have a little bit of makeup on.
00:15 I'm really into this pre-cleansed balm.
00:17 Do you like this mascara coming off?
00:21 That's cute.
00:21 I had like, you know, hormonal acne when I was younger,
00:25 and so I got super into skincare.
00:28 Now, while this is on, I'm gonna do,
00:31 boop, boop, boop, Neutrogena Hydro Boost.
00:33 It's hyaluronic acid.
00:34 All right, taken care of.
00:42 This is your favorite exfoliating pad.
00:45 It's a good one.
00:46 I happen to know about hyaluronic acid
00:50 because I've been buddies with all of these chemists
00:52 for all these years.
00:53 And the thing about it is it brings and locks moisture
00:57 at the surface of your skin, so it adds like,
01:00 a layer of poof.
01:01 This is Biologique.
01:03 You've gotta take the under eye and the neck seriously.
01:09 Berry.
01:10 I need a little cream.
01:11 Sometimes I get really into the whole routine of it,
01:17 and I just really enjoy taking care of myself,
01:19 but pretty much, I'm getting it done
01:21 as quickly as possible.
01:22 Any kind of skincare, any kind of self-care,
01:25 it's like, pew, it just has to happen.
01:27 'Cause you can't get fancy about it.
01:29 Sometimes you just need to get ready or go to bed.
01:32 You always have to do sunscreen, it doesn't matter.
01:34 I'm sorry, but you must.
01:36 You gotta layer that SPF on.
01:39 See right here, I wasn't serious about SPF
01:42 when I was younger.
01:43 Nothing looks better in your 50s than sunscreen
01:45 in your 20s, ladies, you heard it here first.
01:47 That's enough on the skin.
01:49 It's fine, look, I glow.
01:51 This is my favorite thing that I have.
01:54 I have a couple of 'em.
01:55 That is how serious I am.
01:56 Like, if I use it up, I get another one.
01:58 And that's Westman and Tillier's Foundation Stick.
02:02 And I just use it wherever you see a little readiness.
02:07 I am not a doing my own makeup kinda gal.
02:13 This is as good as it gets.
02:15 Really, the biggest thing that happened
02:17 was during the pandemic.
02:18 We all had to do our own makeup for press.
02:20 So I would do Zooms with Adir.
02:23 Abigail, who has been my hairstylist
02:26 and is like one of my besties forever.
02:30 And then Cara, Yashimoto.
02:32 And we would do it together
02:34 and they would be laughing at me so hard
02:36 'cause I would have no idea what was going on.
02:38 But I figured it out and it actually did change
02:41 what I know about makeup forever.
02:42 For example, I now know the importance of a bronzer.
02:45 Chanel.
02:46 I do a little of this and then I put a little on my hand
02:49 so it's all mooshed in.
02:52 You gotta do the neck.
02:54 You don't wanna look like a Popsicle.
02:56 Ooh, look who's coming to life.
03:03 Let's do some blush.
03:04 Stila.
03:05 I mean, I'm not even sure if they make these anymore.
03:08 But it's an oldie and a goodie.
03:09 This is peony, but I like all the colors.
03:12 I think blush is supposed to go under the end of your eye.
03:17 Here, I'm liberal with blush.
03:19 'Cause why not?
03:20 It's my face, party if I want.
03:22 I really like my friend Chanel,
03:24 especially this eyebrow situation.
03:27 We're close friends.
03:28 This is something that I feel embarrassed to be seen
03:31 without my eyebrows done.
03:32 That is the thing that has changed in my life.
03:33 I used to have a lot of brows.
03:35 I don't so much anymore.
03:36 I gotta help 'em out a little.
03:37 All I care about my kids doing
03:43 is that they wash their face at night
03:45 and that they wear SPF.
03:46 Other than that, it's their business.
03:48 If they want serums and kids don't really need it,
03:50 but they're all into it right now, so good for them.
03:52 This is if I'm feeling dressy
03:53 and I'm feeling dressy for Vogue, so I'll do.
03:56 This eyelash curler is my favorite.
03:59 It's called Surratte and I bought it on this website
04:03 that I love for interesting, cool makeup.
04:07 Reed Clark.
04:08 Another Westman thing.
04:09 I just made a movie called "Family Switch"
04:12 where I have to trade places with my teenage daughter.
04:16 The makeup was a very big part of that.
04:18 We piled it on, we added sparkly stuff,
04:21 we added a lot of blush, a lot of color,
04:25 and a lot of eyeliner, just like a kid having fun.
04:29 Okay, this is my indulgence.
04:32 I really like an Hermes lipstick.
04:34 I know, don't tell my mom.
04:35 This one is Rouge Bois.
04:37 And what you should do, if you're getting serious,
04:45 is blot it and then reapply.
04:46 It just saturates the color so it'll stay a little better.
04:50 If I'm getting fancy, I'll do a liquid liner.
04:52 And you do mascara first, I learned,
04:55 and then that tells you where the liquid liner should go.
04:58 Let's do a little perfume.
05:03 This is like so, it's like everyone wears it,
05:06 but I've worn it forever, Gypsy Water.
05:08 I went to the Met Ball exactly one time.
05:10 I found it a little scary, so I haven't been back.
05:12 But I wore it that night, this magical red Valentino gown,
05:17 and I was his date,
05:18 and that was really like majestic and special.
05:21 For hair, I use the same two things when my hair is wet
05:24 as I do when it's dry.
05:25 I'm a virtue girly, like that.
05:28 And then this healing oil, it'll heal your hair.
05:32 Duh, I mean, it's literally the name.
05:34 It'll make you smell like a little angel.
05:36 It's great when your hair is damp and when it's dry.
05:40 To seal the ends, take care of flyaways.
05:43 You can't really screw it up.
05:44 I think it's always important to use something at the end
05:47 to take a little bit of your makeup back off
05:49 or to blend it.
05:50 My advice for moving through the world with confidence,
05:55 if you want to have self-esteem, do esteemable things.
05:59 Focus out more than in.
06:01 Focus on what you're doing for other people.
06:03 Hold the door.
06:04 Just be helpful to your friends.
06:06 Show up, say, "What can I do?
06:08 "You look busy.
06:09 "I'll get these dishes while you do whatever
06:12 "or I'll do that."
06:13 And it's a small, it's just small esteemable acts
06:16 that tell yourself that you are worthy of your own esteem
06:21 and then it'll start to radiate out.
06:24 This is my final look.
06:26 You have now witnessed my beauty secrets such as they are.
06:30 Thanks for being here with me.
06:31 Have a great day.
06:32 (laughs)
