00:00 Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're looking at some of the weirdest and most fantastical
00:05 weapons in one of gaming's longest running franchises, Final Fantasy.
00:14 DICE - Final Fantasy X-2
00:25 Heading into any battle in a Final Fantasy game and achieving victory is a roll of the
00:30 dice.
00:31 So why not try your luck with Final Fantasy X-2's Lady Luck skill.
00:36 With a simple cast of the die, players have the chance to do critical damage during their
00:40 encounters or, just like in D&D, roll a nat 1 and end up on the receiving end of that
00:47 critical damage.
00:49 Watching Yuna, Riku, or Pain toss comically oversized dice in front of the enemy to determine
00:54 how much punishment to deal out remains a standout moment in a game that already took
01:00 the series in a decidedly more lighthearted direction.
01:10 Forks - Final Fantasy IX
01:13 Quina's character was always a bit odd.
01:17 Not only could you miss recruiting the food-obsessed Q, their reason for joining your party is
01:22 only to travel the world and try more delicious foods besides frogs.
01:28 Quina's special ability is Eat, in which once an enemy's health is low enough, she
01:33 will consume them and learn their abilities.
01:36 Likewise, along with her obsession, their main weapon of choice is an oversized fork
01:41 to consume anything unlucky enough to get in their way when their stomach grumbles.
01:46 Quina's trance ability is even Cook, which must be doubly horrifying for anything on
01:52 the menu seeing Quina casually strolling towards them with so much insatiable hunger that they
01:58 brought their own utensils.
02:00 Paintbrushes - Final Fantasy VI
02:06 Art imitates life, and that is no better personified than with Realm's paintbrushes in Final Fantasy
02:12 VI.
02:13 While the pen might not be mightier than the sword in the Final Fantasy franchise, it's
02:18 Realm's ability to draw copies of whatever enemy the party is facing down to create a
02:23 copy to fight on their side that makes her abilities so powerful.
02:28 The stronger the enemy, the stronger her copy.
02:31 Realm's painting powers aren't the only tool in her arsenal, as she's quite a powerful
02:36 magic user anyways, but for this child to enter the fray with nothing but a paintbrush
02:41 and absolutely dominate is something we don't think any casual player was expecting.
02:52 Fabric - Final Fantasy Tactics
02:55 You can tell a lot about someone by the way they dress, and the Dancer class in Final
02:59 Fantasy Tactics has a style that can kill.
03:03 While they are technically throwing rolls of fabric, they are surprisingly lethal, and
03:08 can also be used to hold enemies in place, often times an entire battlefield of foes
03:13 tied up in the Dancer's fabric.
03:16 Their attacks might be some of the most unconventional within the Tactics game, but some have taken
03:20 to building entire teams around this specific class, and taking out entire arenas like yesterday's
03:27 laundry.
03:28 Blitzballs - Final Fantasy X
03:39 Anyone who played dodgeball in school growing up will be familiar with just how devastating
03:44 it can be taking a rubber ball to the face.
03:47 And while Wakka's choice of weapon makes sense for his character, the sheer amount
03:51 of control he seems to have over the thing is unreal.
03:56 Not only can the Blitzball player create entire combos just hitting the ball over and over
04:00 again, but he can almost supernaturally control how it spins and strikes enemies.
04:06 You'd think with skills like these he wouldn't even need Titus to join his Blitzball league.
04:12 Just as surprising is the sheer amount of different balls at his disposal, each complete
04:17 with their own unique style and some even have elemental damage buffs.
04:28 Souls - Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
04:32 If you thought the fabric was an odd choice in the Tactics games, Final Fantasy Tactics
04:36 Advance takes things a step further and lets you use the very souls of your enemies on
04:42 the battlefield.
04:43 Exclusive to the Morpher class, Morphers will capture the souls of deceased enemies
04:48 from the battlefield and learn their abilities.
04:51 Or players can have hunters capture monsters, which the Morpher will in turn raise and care
04:57 for.
04:58 Morphers can transform into these monsters and then use their abilities in combat.
05:02 It's like a really dark version of Pokemon.
05:06 The Morpher class requires a lot of extra work, but using the very souls of your enemies
05:11 in battle is just too metal to keep off this list.
05:15 Dolls - Final Fantasy X
05:25 We already talked about Wakka's odd weapon choice in Final Fantasy X, but we'd be remiss
05:30 if we didn't at least touch on Lulu's, um, disturbing choice.
05:35 As the team's Black Mage, Lulu's primary attacks revolve around her use of magic and
05:40 elemental attacks.
05:42 However, should she run out of MP, she'll be forced to rely on her melee, which is more
05:48 likely to unsettle her enemies than cause any damage.
05:52 Lulu can send her sentient dolls at her foes to give them a fluffy slap.
05:56 While the dolls themselves are generally used to reinforce her already powerful magical
06:01 abilities, the sight of one of her adorable dolls casually strolling over is a hilarious
06:07 sight, unless you suffer from a fear of creepy dolls.
06:14 Cid's Mop - Final Fantasy VII
06:17 His quick wit and gruff attitude aren't the only thing he'll use to mop the floor with
06:22 you.
06:23 Cid is one of Final Fantasy VII's many straight-laced, no-nonsense characters, and in addition to
06:29 being the pilot of the Highwind airship, he also acts as the game's Dragoon, typically
06:34 sporting a long spear in each battle.
06:38 This is what makes it even more confusing, and hilarious, to see this super-serious foul-mouthed
06:43 pilot stroll into battle with nothing but a mop.
06:47 What's even more surprising is that it's actually a decent weapon, albeit one that's non-upgradable,
06:54 but still watching Cid sweep foes off their feet is always a good time.
06:59 The Cackstar - Final Fantasy VII Remake, Intergrade
07:08 Yuffie often seems to go out of her way to be a thorn in everyone's side, so why not
07:13 put one there for real?
07:15 Yuffie's arsenal already stands out amongst the rest of the familiar characters with her
07:19 oversized shuriken, but cause playing as a moogle is only the beginning of her bizarre
07:24 collection.
07:26 The Cackstar is one of Yuffie's most powerful weapons, and only available through DLC in
07:31 Final Fantasy VII Remake, Intergrade, but it's more than worth it for its special ability
07:37 that sees the Cackstar running around the battlefield and dealing massive damage to
07:42 anything in its way.
07:44 Cackstar are already one of the deadliest enemies in Final Fantasy VII, and you'll be
07:48 happy to finally have one on your side.
07:58 Angelo Cannon - Final Fantasy VIII Remake, Intergrade
08:08 It's safe to say that Rinoa certainly has a dog in this fight.
08:12 Like any good pupper, Rinoa's faithful companion Angelo will often accompany her into battle,
08:18 and should the moment arise, launch an attack with extreme prejudice.
08:23 However, simply having her canine companion fighting at her side isn't enough for those
08:28 truly overpowered baddies.
08:30 In these instances, Angelo will attach itself to Rinoa's arm and launch directly at the
08:36 enemy with all the power of a true laser-guided missile.
08:40 This doesn't end with a simple headbutt either.
08:43 No, Angelo explodes on impact causing devastating damage to any foe in the vicinity.
08:49 Out of all the weapons in the series, this is without a doubt the one that makes the
08:54 least amount of sense.
08:56 No dogs were harmed in the making of this video.
09:09 What weird weapon would you like to see in a Final Fantasy game?
