00:00 Oh, I'm so zen.
00:01 Do I have to finish the rest of the interview?
00:04 Hi, I'm Emma Watson and I'm headed to London.
00:08 This is what's in my bag.
00:10 So, this is what's in my backpack.
00:15 First of all, this is mine and my brother's gin.
00:18 And you know, you never know when you're gonna need
00:21 just a quick, straight glass of gin.
00:25 In this case, I'm ready.
00:28 Oh, this is one of my favorite things about Prada
00:29 is that she does this like incredible,
00:32 tiny, tiny, mini, mini, mini bag
00:34 that you can put inside the bag.
00:36 And this is what I have with me when I'm at the airport.
00:39 It's just got my passport in it.
00:42 I really love the color of my passport case.
00:44 It's bright blue, so I cannot lose this.
00:48 I also recently had my friend Taylor put inside the marker,
00:52 so I really can't lose it.
00:55 Oh, a bit of a rose mist, you know,
00:57 just a bit of a refresh at a sweaty airport.
01:00 I try to be good about wearing sunscreen.
01:02 Oh, I can't AirPods, why?
01:04 It's so painful.
01:06 You can never find the other AirPod.
01:07 I really just like the old school plug-in ones.
01:11 My friend introduced me to these recently, Zycam.
01:14 I travel all the time and I try not to get sick.
01:16 You literally put this up your nose
01:19 and it stops you from getting sick.
01:21 Even if it's a placebo, it's working on me.
01:24 I've been wearing this for forever.
01:25 It's disgusting now, but this is from the Body Shop.
01:28 It's a lip stain, cheek stain, hand wipes, Altoids.
01:33 You know, you never know.
01:36 Need to have good breath, makeup bag.
01:38 Oh, this is so cute.
01:39 I found this freckle pen recently, which I absolutely love
01:43 and use in the winter when my freckles kind of go away
01:46 and I want to bring out the ones on my nose.
01:49 More Zycam.
01:50 This is Jane Iredale.
01:51 I've been using this lip pencil
01:53 for years and years and years.
01:54 It's in my favorite color, which is called Spice.
01:57 This amazing sponge.
01:59 Isn't that great?
02:01 The thing I probably really can't live without
02:02 is these Body Shop stains.
02:04 And I think they actually might have stopped doing them.
02:07 So I had to buy a bunch of them on eBay
02:09 because I'm so obsessed with them.
02:11 There's a brand called Luna and Aster
02:12 and they do this under eye brightness situation.
02:15 I think probably if I only put these on my face,
02:18 I can get away with very little.
02:20 I've been wearing Tubular Mascara for years.
02:22 I love them because they come off with hot water.
02:24 So when I shower, I don't have to use a makeup remover
02:26 or anything like that.
02:27 And it's kind of more gentle on your eyes.
02:29 When I go to an airport,
02:30 maybe it's the conditioning of being aware
02:32 I might get photographed or there might be paparazzi there,
02:35 but I do try and put myself a little bit together
02:37 for the airport.
02:38 But when I get on the airplane,
02:38 I'll usually take stuff off
02:40 and I will try and moisturize and drink water.
02:44 Oh, I love this lip balm.
02:45 This is amazing.
02:46 It has SPF 15 in it and tea tree.
02:48 So I think I tell myself that it's gonna stop me
02:50 from getting sick as well.
02:53 Bit of a theme coming on here.
02:55 Oh, okay.
02:56 This cannot live without.
02:58 This is my Sleep Master Mask.
02:59 This means I can sleep anywhere.
03:01 You can basically put me on the floor in one of these
03:03 and I will be able to sleep.
03:04 I wear them on trains, airplanes, in bed.
03:07 It's like a hug for your face and it covers your ears
03:09 and you can't hear quite so much.
03:11 And all of my family wear them now.
03:12 All my friends wear them now.
03:13 It's a cult.
03:14 Oh, wait, and then I do this.
03:16 Hang on.
03:16 So you have the Sleep Master Mask on.
03:19 Here's the trick.
03:20 This and then the noise canceling headphones.
03:24 Oh yeah.
03:25 And it's like I can't, I'm just out of space, out of time.
03:29 I can't hear anything.
03:30 I can't see anything.
03:31 So I'm flying back to London for Vogue World,
03:34 which means it'll be an eight hour flight.
03:36 And that means really material.
03:38 I actually like reading physical books the most,
03:41 but I've relented recently and got myself a Kindle,
03:44 which I decided to decorate.
03:46 I really like cats, but I also have physical books
03:49 because I can't not do that.
03:51 This is T.S. Eliot.
03:52 It's the love song of J. Alfred Prufrock,
03:55 but actually this copy has an inscription in it
03:57 from Steve Chbosky,
03:58 who I did the Puck's Being a Wallflower with.
04:01 And it's so sweet, the note that he wrote,
04:03 so I have to read it.
04:03 He gave this to me for my graduation and he said,
04:06 "For Emma on her graduation,
04:07 "these words by T.S. Eliot are forever.
04:10 "So is your passion for learning,
04:11 "for living, for literature.
04:13 "I couldn't be happier for or proud of you
04:15 "for this accomplishment.
04:16 "You inspire me every day.
04:18 "Please enjoy this limited edition for an unlimited life.
04:22 "You are my dear Sam, infinite, Steve Chbosky."
04:25 I mean, he's just the nicest man in the world.
04:29 Inscriptions in books is my favorite thing.
04:31 I've really been enjoying this a lot.
04:33 As you can see, it's a little bit battered,
04:35 but refillable water bottle.
04:38 I love this one.
04:39 It was given to me by a friend
04:42 who I worked on the HeForShe campaign.
04:43 Our 10 year anniversary is next year.
04:45 This is a special one for me.
04:46 This makes me look like a crazy person.
04:49 I'm kind of okay with it.
04:50 Lots of thoughts, feelings, emotions.
04:52 It makes me look very emo.
04:53 I probably am a bit emo.
04:54 This is my ritual.
04:55 This is my daily, every single day I write in this.
04:58 And I write three things from the day before
05:01 that were fun or joyful.
05:04 Three things that happened that were kind,
05:06 either that I did for someone else or they did for me.
05:08 And then I write three things that I thought I did well
05:11 from the day before or that I liked about myself.
05:14 If I had to choose one thing
05:16 that I went on the plane with, with my passport,
05:19 it would probably be this,
05:20 because doing this has been really important.
05:23 Other Smithson diary.
05:24 This one is actually just for genuinely organizing my week
05:26 and my to-do lists.
05:28 So this week, return home to London.
05:31 And I have actually a couple of rest days
05:33 and then Rogue World, which is exciting.
05:37 Oh, pockets.
05:37 Let's go and let's see what's in these front pockets.
05:40 This is, okay.
05:42 So yeah, when I fly a lot,
05:43 I try and use these nose sprays.
05:46 This one is made from oregano oil
05:49 and it's actually really intense.
05:51 You know, you do it and you're like, whoa.
05:54 Oh, my tarot cards.
05:55 This is fun.
05:56 A friend gifted me a deck.
05:58 I think it's so much fun.
05:59 I love the ritual of it.
06:00 I try and pull one every day when I do my journaling.
06:03 This is actually the original tarot deck.
06:04 It's a classic, but I have a few different ones.
06:07 Should we do it now?
06:08 Wow, this on camera.
06:11 I am usually freaked out by how accurate
06:15 the cards I pull from this deck are.
06:17 So let's see what I get.
06:19 I'm giving it a shuffle.
06:20 Now that's interesting.
06:25 As I was shuffling, there's one card that's upturned,
06:28 which makes me feel like that's the one I should pick.
06:31 Oh, interesting.
06:34 Okay, so I pulled the World card.
06:37 Well, actually it was chosen for me by the deck.
06:39 The World represents an ending to a cycle of life,
06:42 a pause in life before the next big cycle beginning.
06:45 It is an indicator of a major and inexorable change
06:48 of tectonic breadth.
06:50 So it stands for achievement, fulfillment, possibilities,
06:54 and potentially successful conclusions.
06:56 I have been sowing a lot of seeds
06:59 over the last four or five years.
07:01 You can't always be in the reaping stage
07:03 or the harvest stage in life.
07:05 Life has seasons.
07:07 For me, the card speaks about a kind of ripeness,
07:09 things coming to fruition.
07:11 Exciting.
07:12 Okay, this is my Prada fragrance.
07:14 I'll often travel with one of these instead of a big bottle.
07:17 And I'll also carry around for when I'm sleeping,
07:19 I'll bring like lavender
07:20 or I'll bring different essential oils as well.
07:23 Deck of cards.
07:24 You never know when you're gonna get stranded somewhere.
07:25 Oh, a really crusty hairbrush.
07:27 These are my things.
07:28 Okay, gotta head to the airport.
07:31 Need to somehow fit all of this back inside the bag.
07:34 Biggest item is definitely gin.
07:36 So that's gonna go in first.
07:39 (can opening)
07:41 That is all 700 items.
07:42 I am ready to go to London.
07:44 Thanks for joining me for What's in My Bag.
07:47 (upbeat music)
