01:21 Did you know that there's a bubble woman

01:22 that has your same technique?

01:24 - I didn't invent any of that.

01:25 - Well, you know, she's a member of your trade.

01:27 - Licensed bubble men's 305.

01:29 - Is this the first time you've ever worn that box neck hat?

01:31 - I think it might be.

01:32 How many of these were minted?

01:33 - 25.

01:34 - Were any available for sale to the general public?

01:36 - Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

01:37 Some people got some.

01:38 - Yeah.

01:39 - Fewer than 25.

01:41 - There actually was parking, which came as a shock.

01:43 - Yeah, I was quite surprised too.

01:45 I was very concerned when we arrived.

01:46 - So I would be hopeless stringing this thing up.

01:48 It looks like Nina kind of knows what she's doing.

01:50 Let's look at what he's got in his collection.

01:52 A purple, a jet plane, a Lego bag.

01:55 But the one he didn't have was this butterfly one.

01:57 I think he has a butterfly.

01:58 It's just in poor condition.

02:00 - He doesn't have the same as that one though.

02:03 - Yeah, your butterfly is way cooler.

02:04 These are the kites that I found here in the kite graveyard.

02:09 - Abandoned kites last year?

02:11 - Well, I mean, you can see all these up in the air.

02:13 And some of them get caught loose or whatever.

02:14 I think I caught it in the trees.

02:16 - Matt has been softly recommending this for content

02:19 for about three years.

02:20 - Yeah.

02:21 - And then last year he got you to do it.

02:23 - Yes.

02:24 Well, I think it's fun.

02:24 I mean, it's free.

02:25 There's a cool display of kites.

02:27 - I just noticed that.

02:29 Oh, there they are.

02:30 - Do you remember in Plymouth when we flew a kite?

02:31 It was a barbie kite, I think.

02:33 - Yeah, I love it.

02:34 Are you a kite flying expert?

02:36 - No, but I would call Matt a kite flying expert.

02:39 Though I will say, last year,

02:40 when the event was canceled, by the way,

02:42 there were more kites.

02:43 The wind is good today for flying.

02:45 - Now for audio on the other hand.

02:48 - Yeah, they're getting great audio in dead kites

02:50 or bad audio in flying kites.

02:52 - You can see way up high, those boring looking kites

02:54 that provide incredible lift.

02:56 And then you can put cool display kites

02:58 down below on the line.

02:59 - Oh yeah.

03:00 - Uh, oh yeah.

03:02 - Look, my entire kite education

03:03 comes from contending last year.

03:06 - Yeah, inflatable dragon's pretty rad.

03:07 - I really like the purple one in the back.

03:09 - Like sea kaiju.

03:10 - Come on up, kite.

03:12 Let's get Matt's advice, 'cause I am a kite dude.

03:15 Go back there a little bit, Gloria.

03:17 I'll come with you.

03:17 Just watch out for that line.

03:19 Watch out, watch out, you're taking it out.

03:20 You have to put it in your hand

03:21 so you can let it out in controlled ways.

03:23 You gotta hold it like this.

03:24 - We're gonna get this kite fly.

03:31 - I've been collecting kites for like the last 20 years,

03:36 but I've never made one.

03:37 And recently within the last year,

03:39 I had an idea of repurposing old materials

03:42 to make a new kite.

03:44 I went to Savers and I bought an old prom dress.

03:48 - Oh my God, oh, that's so cool.

03:49 - But I don't think there's any way this is getting up there.

03:51 - You finally have a prom date.

03:53 (laughing)

03:54 - Maybe in stronger ones.

03:56 I mean, I also have material to fill in these.

03:59 So this is like, I guess my prototype.

04:01 It's a perfect kind of like triangle shape.

04:03 And it has elements that are really nice

04:05 to kind of catch in the sun.

04:07 - It's almost got a little bit of an element of a,

04:08 is the dress blue or is the dress gold?

04:10 - In order to keep the kite from listing back and forth,

04:15 a good tail is what kind of balances it out.

04:17 - How is it that something that heavy and that large

04:19 is staying nice and afloat the whole day?

04:22 - Well, the material is made out of really, really light.

04:24 This is designed specifically to be light

04:27 and then also not let air through.

04:30 - What makes this your favorite kite?

04:32 - Big and colorful, one of my oldest ones.

04:36 - Then they got kite adjacent things like, you know,

04:38 this stuff.

04:40 - It's a technically wind sock.

04:41 - John, I don't want to call you out,

04:42 but you look like a man who doesn't want to be in the sun.

04:45 - Oh, that is accurate.

04:45 There are a few things I like less than being in the sun.

04:48 I'm thoroughly doused in sun lotion, SPF 50.

04:52 I've had enough problems without skin cancer.

04:53 This is such a spectator sport for me.

04:55 I mean, in the past, Matt has handed me a kite

04:57 and I can hold it, unwind it and wind it back in.

05:01 My mother, knowing how much I love kites,

05:03 bought this for me for Christmas,

05:05 but then it went, it's a little temperamental.

05:20 - I'm trying to like, not get it tangled

05:22 in everyone else's kites,

05:23 because the kite density here is not extreme,

05:25 but pretty high.

05:28 - I'm gonna add a little bit of string.

05:30 Gloria's about to fly this sucker.
