00:00 Viewer discretion is advised.
00:03 - Annual no views, very excited for this today.
00:05 - I think the last time EJ was on one of these shows
00:07 was many years ago.
00:09 - I'm ready for something spooky.
00:10 - For the uninitiated, this is the show
00:12 where Jon goes to Vimeo and he looks up horror movies
00:16 made by average people, everyday people.
00:18 - Everyday humans.
00:19 - And he looks for ones with very low to no views.
00:22 - Yeah, 100 is absolute max.
00:23 Most of ours today, one even just has one view.
00:26 - And did you say that you found this year
00:28 that there's like even less content on Vimeo?
00:29 - Way less new uploads.
00:31 There's still a big back catalog,
00:32 but I was trying to get some new stuff,
00:34 like a couple months that it's been out with no views
00:36 to get some fresh ideas.
00:37 Uploading to Vimeo is kind of a relic of a time gone by.
00:40 - Like the alternate portfolio website.
00:42 - Yeah, the portfolio, yeah.
00:43 I definitely had my portfolio on Vimeo.
00:45 - So what does a student do now, a film student do now?
00:47 - I guess maybe YouTube?
00:49 - You have your own YouTube?
00:50 It just feels like YouTube's a little bit too,
00:51 like not walled off, a little too public.
00:53 - Yeah, it is true.
00:55 - Like Vimeo, the appeal is that no one's gonna find it.
00:58 (Jon laughs)
00:58 - So Jon has picked out seven movies in our horror marathon.
01:01 Again, we're wondering if we were running a film festival,
01:04 would these be in them?
01:05 So this first one is called
01:07 The Evening Lovers Horror Short Film.
01:08 The plot is a woman is confronted
01:10 with a strange entity from the past.
01:11 Does that not sound very much like the kind of fare
01:14 we see here on the film?
01:15 (all laugh)
01:16 - It very much does.
01:17 It describes probably half of them.
01:19 - It was selected in a lot of film festivals.
01:21 It was a nominee at Canada's
01:22 Yes, Let's Make a Movie film festival.
01:24 - Wow.
01:25 - And a finalist at Spooktacular Spectacular
01:27 Family Film Festival,
01:27 but that tells me it didn't win.
01:29 (all laugh)
01:31 Let's see what you got.
01:32 (gentle music)
01:33 - Oh, very stylish title.
01:35 - It's a good logo.
01:36 - Yeah, it is.
01:37 - The R's dripping down, that's kind of cute.
01:39 - Yeah.
01:40 - Probably gonna be the best thing about the film.
01:43 - Fruit by the Foot.
01:44 - Yeah.
01:45 (Jon laughs)
01:46 - It's not some like standard,
01:47 like final cut font or something.
01:50 - This looks kind of nice.
01:51 Remember in the old studio,
01:52 we had it on in the back of the,
01:53 like behind us while watching it.
01:55 - Yeah.
01:56 - We had a nice situation.
01:57 Now we're just on a couch.
01:59 - Now we're in Jon's (beep) living room again.
02:00 - What are we doing here?
02:02 (gentle music)
02:05 - Oh, dolly shot.
02:06 - Or just something with a stable hand.
02:09 - Yeah.
02:10 - Stable hand.
02:11 I love all these like,
02:11 these standard like film school insert shots,
02:14 like putting the keys down.
02:15 - Yeah, like, oh my God,

02:20 There we are.

02:28 - This is really slow.
02:29 - Yeah, look at it.
02:30 (Jon mumbles)
02:31 This is so film school.
02:32 I love it.
02:33 - Yeah, like, bit by bit.
02:35 (water splashes)
02:38 Okay.
02:39 - Yeah, using like the water in this kitchen
02:40 and the water in the bath as a bridge.
02:42 Like, wow, very film school.
02:44 - Ever so titillating.
02:45 - Yes.
02:47 Not really.
02:48 - How many of these are gonna be just like people,
02:50 like walking around their apartment?
02:51 - Most of them, EJ.
02:53 (all laugh)
02:54 I don't wanna like spoil it for you.
02:55 - This was a finalist in the people walking around
02:57 their apartment film festival in Canada.
03:00 - I can totally understand that.
03:01 I mean, it's doing great.
03:03 The water's boiling, get rid of it.
03:05 Oh, it's bloody.
03:06 - Oh, it's bloody boiling.
03:07 - A spooked woman.
03:08 - She forgot she was making Jell-O.
03:10 - Oh, the indignity of being in a towel.
03:13 Oh no.
03:17 I spilled my boiled water all over the place.
03:19 - My first instinct if I saw my,
03:21 that I was leaving red footprints
03:24 would not be to grab a knife.
03:26 - Have you ever once like in your house
03:28 like kind of went for a weapon?
03:30 - Never.
03:31 - No. - Never once.
03:32 - I don't think I have either.
03:33 But John actually was attacked one time in his backyard.
03:37 There was a crazy neighbor who started crowbarring
03:39 the (beep) out of his car.
03:40 - Broke the window?
03:41 - Yeah.
03:42 - Yeah, this is a true story.
03:43 - 'Cause he was flying too fast down the driveway,
03:45 and they share.

03:59 I was quite nervous because she was like freaking me out.
04:02 - Who the hell knows what she's gonna do.

16:06 - But you see, that's a great example of like,
16:08 they caught us into this.
16:10 - Rhythm.
16:12 - Yeah, and so then when we go close,
16:14 it matters more.
16:15 - Yeah.
16:16 - Sometimes so hard that I piss myself, really.
16:18 - She's not pissed.
16:19 - Everything's coming out of her.
16:21 - There's Lucy, who is so sweet.
16:24 She's got the biggest heart.
16:26 I love her.
16:27 - The biggest what now?
16:29 - Biggest heart.
16:30 - That's right.
16:31 - You know, the kind of person that puts the needs
16:35 of others before their own.
16:37 Shit, I'm sorry.
16:42 - One of the most constructive.
16:44 - I'll just cut that out.
16:45 - Hmm?
16:46 - You'll cut that out, right?
16:49 - If you want me to, sure.
16:51 - That was some good stuff.
16:54 - Father hates seeing me cry.
16:56 Right before he died, he'd say not to cry
16:58 because he'd always be there.
16:59 I didn't really ever know what that meant.
17:01 - You mean your mom, right?
17:02 You said you're taking care of your dad?
17:04 - Yes.
17:10 I am out of it today, aren't I?
17:12 - Do you feel a little intimidated by the teeth?
17:15 - Yes, I think that's part of the point.
17:16 - Yeah, are we meant to,
17:17 is there gonna be some vampirism?
17:19 - My father.
17:22 - Wait, so is your dad alive or?
17:26 - Not yet.
17:26 - And so they're doing the low angle shots too, right?
17:31 - Yeah.
17:32 - So they've changed that.
17:33 So they were making her stable.
17:34 Now we're supposed to be a little bit more afraid of her.
17:42 - I feel like that could have been a little bit better.
17:43 - Yeah, that was.
17:44 - I felt a little like derpy.
17:46 - That was very derpy.
17:49 - Yeah, like that should, I should feel those stabs.
17:56 - Yeah, you should with some sound effects.
17:58 - Sound design, yeah.
17:59 - Yeah.
18:00 - That's not as bad.
18:05 - Yeah, like subtle's okay.
18:07 You don't have to have ridiculous.
18:08 - Yeah, cartoonish.
18:11 (growling)
18:13 - Father.
18:14 How do you feel about people who call their mom and dad
18:17 father and mother?
18:18 - It's concerning, unless you're British.
18:20 - Yeah, it normally means something.
18:21 - Yes.
18:22 You're like detached or insane.
18:25 - I call my mother mother.
18:28 - Are you detached, DJ?
18:31 - You live in the bamboo.
18:32 - Yeah.
18:34 - Again, some sound design there so that we could have,
18:37 it could have felt as though the whatever eyeball
18:40 was being ripped out.
18:41 - Yep.
18:42 - It was pretty effective, right?
18:44 - Yeah.
18:45 - In a short period.
18:46 - Yeah, I think it was reasonably good.
18:49 - My only tip would be like get that sound design
18:51 so that we feel like the impact of the cuts
18:53 and the stabs and the rips.
18:55 - Yeah.
18:56 (growling)
19:00 (thudding)
19:02 (growling)
19:06 - I would have accepted that into my short horror film.
19:20 - Your little short horror film festival?
19:21 - And apparently it got into like a billion of them.
19:23 - Yes.
19:24 - That's all you gotta do.
19:25 We summoned a demon short film,
19:27 award winning horror comedy short that I produced
19:29 for director Chris McEnroy.
19:31 Wow.
19:32 - Wow.
19:33 - Who is that?
19:34 Festivals and awards, lots of them.
19:35 - A whole bunch.
19:36 - 130.
19:37 Let's say the average submission fee was $15.
19:39 - And that's what you got into.
19:41 You're spending way more than that.
19:42 - Right.
19:43 Okay, that's cute.
19:45 - Ready?
19:49 (screaming)
19:53 - I must have hit him hard.
19:56 - This is good.
19:58 - Yeah, it's got a good style to it.
20:00 - I like something that also like gets right into it.
20:03 - My shirt!
20:04 - Sorry.
20:07 - It's okay.
20:09 Did it work?
20:10 Did it make me cool?
20:12 - Probably.
20:14 Let's test it out.
20:15 Pretend I'm Brenda and ask me to lunch or something.
20:18 - Okay.
20:18 - I appreciate a good visual gag.
20:25 - Yeah, slipping is always funny, especially if it's real.
20:27 - You're Brenda.
20:28 - Brenda.
20:30 - Tacos?
20:31 - Didn't work.
20:35 Like, not at all.
20:36 Like, you're less cool than you were before.
20:39 - Well, I mean, you messed the thing up.
20:41 - The eye line was a little weird.
20:42 - Yeah.
20:43 - Have it catch a little closer to the camera.
20:47 Yeah, it's probably 'cause he was gonna walk into that.
20:49 - Right.
20:50 'Cause he was farther on the other side.
20:53 (rumbling)
20:55 - Power Rangers right here.
21:00 - Yeah, I was gonna say, I really respond to this.
21:02 - Yeah, me too.
21:03 - Some fun lighting.
21:09 - Yeah.
21:10 - Yeah, it's great.
21:11 - Who's that?
21:14 - I don't know.
21:15 - What's up, man?
21:16 - Whatever dude.
21:20 - I don't actually know why they were doing
21:21 like the blood stunt thing.
21:22 - Yeah.
21:23 - The (beep)
21:25 - That's cool looking.
21:29 - What?
21:37 - Run.
21:39 - Go, go, go, go, go.
21:40 - I'm going.
21:41 - What?
21:42 It's a little confusing.
21:42 - Yeah, I thought it'd be like a kill shot or something.
21:46 - Right. - Yeah.
21:47 - You touch him and he bleeds for real
21:49 or is that the fake blood or?
21:51 - The boat's gone.
21:52 - You're a (beep) demon.
21:52 What are you talking about?
21:53 - Don't make fun of me.
21:54 - You're a (beep) demon.
21:55 - You're a demon and meet your eyes bleed.
21:57 - My eyes bleed, when?
21:58 - Like five seconds ago.
22:00 - These guys have like pretty good comedy sensibilities
22:02 but like I feel like.
22:04 - They're underutilized.
22:04 - It's more like they're telegraphing comedy
22:06 than actually engaging in it.
22:07 - Yeah, yeah, the writing of the comedy is not great.
22:10 - Yeah, also that shot's not great.
22:12 - It's not a demon.
22:14 - Okay, that was weird.
22:16 - It's a demon.
22:21 - Guess his name.
22:22 - What?
22:23 - It'll give you power over him, guess his name.
22:24 - Ronnie, Barry, Tawny, Gary, Donny, Larry, Belphegor.
22:27 It's not working.
22:28 - That was pretty funny.
22:31 - Yeah, yeah.
22:31 - Pretty funny comic timing.
22:35 - I could do without like some of the digital stuff
22:36 that they add on top of a look they already have.
22:39 - Yes, the practical effect is good enough.
22:41 - Yeah.
22:42 - Thanks.
22:43 - Yeah.
22:44 - I think we lost him.
22:45 - For sure, man, we're gonna be all right.
22:46 - Yeah, we're gonna live forever.
22:47 - Hell yeah.
22:49 - Is he like terribly injured or not?
22:52 - Do you think he sees us?
22:54 - I don't know, he's looking right at us.
22:56 - He's gotta see us, right?
22:58 - Well, he's not looking away.
22:59 Maybe if we just hold completely still,
23:02 we're calm and don't move an inch, we'll get away just fine.
23:07 I think we're doing a great job, so let's just chill.
23:10 - Seems to me like he can get away
23:11 from this thing very easily.
23:13 - Jesus Christ.
23:14 - Yeah, just leave.
23:15 - It's only endangering if you stand right up next to it.
23:19 - Okay, so.
23:20 (gagging)
23:20 - What are you doing?
23:21 (speaking in foreign language)
23:25 - Did you say John Travolta?
23:26 - What, no.
23:27 (speaking in foreign language)
23:29 - You said John Travolta.
23:30 - No, I didn't.
23:31 - Yeah, I'm like disoriented.
23:33 - You're based on him.
23:34 - Yeah, well, I don't know what the tone or mood
23:36 or what the hell's going on.
23:37 Did you see that digital camera shake?
23:41 - Yeah.
23:42 - I think they enjoy their effects.
23:46 - Yeah, they do.
23:48 - I didn't need the digital.
23:49 - Demon, be cool.
23:51 - In the glasses, the digital's cool.
23:52 - Yes, yeah.
23:53 - Yep.
23:54 - It's like a subtle thing.
23:56 - It's like funny in theory.
23:57 - Mm-hmm.
23:58 - Hey, brother.
24:05 I don't know what you're up to after this,
24:08 but I was gonna go grab some tacos if you wanna join.
24:10 - He's gonna do it, right,
24:13 and they're all gonna go to Taco Bell?
24:15 He just wanted a friend.
24:19 (dramatic music)
24:22 - The kindness of Zoomers.
24:24 - Yeah.
24:25 They could just hang out and chill, you know?
24:29 - Yeah.
24:30 - We got power over you, Demon.
24:34 You gotta do what we say.
24:36 Three wishes.
24:37 - Like, why would the character do that?
24:41 - I mean.
24:41 - It's cool looking, though.
24:44 - Wow, man.
24:45 Such a rad punch, bro.
24:47 (whooshing)
24:49 - So rad.
24:50 - Okay, so he was horribly injured.
24:56 - Cool.
25:01 (upbeat music)
25:06 - It was close to being good.
25:08 - Yeah, it was a little--
25:09 - It needed some cleanup and some better layout
25:12 of the story and motivation.
25:14 - Yeah, you know, it had a deliberate tone,
25:18 but I felt like the whole thing was uneven.
25:21 - Yeah, yeah.
25:22 - And also, I think the joke of, like,
25:24 let's be nice to him could've went further.
25:25 - Yes, and him being nice back.
25:27 Like, it's a bit played out,
25:29 but do something new with it, you know?
25:31 Still wasn't bad.
25:32 - You can understand why it got into 130 film festivals,
25:35 because even though it's not great,
25:37 it's five minutes, it hits with a punch.
25:39 If you get a bunch of people in a room to watch it--
25:41 - Yeah, they're gonna laugh.
25:42 Here is our only entry today with a single view.
25:44 - Yeah, one single view, so we're about to add to that.
25:46 It'll be two by the time the moon rises.
25:48 It's called TheRiverTroll.mp4.
25:51 (laughing)
25:53 The official genre for this short film
25:56 is sci-fi, horror, comedy, mystery.
25:57 It's all over the place,
25:58 but this film was fun to make.
25:59 Happy Halloween.
26:00 So I like that.
26:01 It's actually gonna be Halloween-y.
26:03 - Prophet.
26:05 - Yeah.
26:06 - Patience.
26:07 Mankind understood one simple fact,
26:10 and it kept them safe.
26:13 This low-budget short film contains explicit material.
26:15 - It's fate from what was always--
26:17 - Why does this look so janky?
26:18 - I don't know.
26:20 - It's kinda all over the place.
26:21 - And rationalization took over.
26:24 - That's a free font if I may say.
26:25 - Yeah, that's the font.
26:27 - Was this shot on a widescreen Sony TRV?
26:30 - Came superstition.
26:32 The monsters we knew became--
26:33 - Wow, they have a lot of logos and--
26:37 - Yeah, really.
26:37 A lot of affiliates.
26:39 A lot of--
26:40 - A lot of upfront credits, contractually obligated.
26:44 - Completion funding.
26:45 Writers.
26:48 Oh my God.
26:49 Scott Prophet.
26:51 - Is half this thing gonna be--
26:52 - Wow, four PAs.
26:54 - Yeah, we're a significant fraction into this,
26:57 and it's just credits.
26:58 - The first AC gets an opening credit.
27:00 Somebody bought a drone.
27:02 - I think that's a Guild thing.
27:04 (laughing)
27:07 - What does a cover artist do?
27:08 - Who does this?
27:09 - Now, if the Guild Strikes had gone on for a while,
27:12 this could replace commercial media.
27:14 - It's true.
27:15 - You could watch this instead.
27:17 - All right, we're a third of the way through the movie.
27:19 We're still doing the credits.
27:21 Is this a joke?
27:22 (laughing)
27:23 - That would be hilarious.
27:25 That would actually be genuinely funny.
27:26 - That would be genuinely hilarious.
27:28 - Just atmospheric shots of roads,
27:32 and narration, and then like,
27:35 it's not clear.
27:36 - It keeps going.
27:38 - It's not clear when it becomes ending narration.
27:41 - Okay.
27:42 (laughing)
27:43 - That must mean that it's the end.
27:43 - I was really hoping it was gonna be the joke.
27:45 (laughing)
27:48 - Now, back to John's original question.
27:50 Was this shot in 16 by nine on a TRV?
27:53 - Yeah, the driver.
27:55 - This has such a feel of like,
27:57 what's that movie we made with Will on the farm?
28:02 - Like, Skeletus Mortis.
28:03 - Skeletus Mortis.
28:05 (drone buzzing)
28:07 (drone buzzing)
28:10 - I like the way that the ambient noise shifts harshly
28:15 between each shot.
28:16 (laughing)
28:18 - So, they didn't invest in any sound equipment.
28:21 - No.
28:21 - No.
28:22 - The Doug Walker School of Sound Design.
28:25 - Filmmaking, yeah.
28:26 (laughing)
28:28 - What?
28:36 - I mean, there's like a D noise plug-in in Premiere.
28:40 - Just start there.
28:41 - Just start there at least.
28:43 - Back there, do you have something to say to me?
28:45 Back there, do you have something to say to me?
28:47 - Guys, what the (beep) is that?
28:49 - I heard that.
28:50 - What is what?
28:51 It was the same shot.
28:52 (laughing)
28:53 Normally, you change the visual.
28:55 - Yeah, you show us what?
28:56 - But now, yeah, it doesn't seem concerned now.
29:00 - See, you know how this is a horrible piece of (beep)?
29:02 - Yes.
29:03 - I feel like the visuals are not that bad.
29:06 - No.
29:07 - No.
29:08 - For something that looks horrible, it sounds horrible.
29:11 - Oh no.
29:12 - Yes, I'm a witch.
29:14 Get over it.
29:15 (laughing)
29:17 - Yes, I'm a witch, get over it.
29:18 - What the (beep) should we trust you?
29:20 - It's like all the language.
29:22 - In the first place, I'll start to make her weep.
29:25 - I, all I hear is a room tone.
29:28 (growling)
29:30 - Oh my lord.
29:31 (laughing)
29:33 (dramatic music)
29:36 - We need to leave.
29:41 - Let's go, let's go.
29:43 - See, like, that shot's okay.
29:45 Like, you know, just in terms of perspective
29:46 and like the fact there's a little bit of lighting.
29:49 (dramatic music)
29:52 But then like the costumes are like atrocious.
29:55 It's really, I'm enjoying myself.
29:58 Like what the (beep) is that?
30:00 (laughing)
30:02 - They said at the beginning, they were like,
30:03 this is all over the place.
30:04 - Yeah, low budget.
30:05 - Low budget.
30:06 - They let, yeah, they underlined it in Photoshop
30:09 with the yellow brush tool.
30:11 - Looking for us?
30:12 - Who?
30:13 - People at the, the party.
30:16 - Yeah, for me.
30:16 (beep)
30:17 You losers, I'm gonna (beep) this thing up.
30:19 (dramatic music)
30:20 - I like all the completely gratuitous swearing.
30:22 - Yeah.
30:23 - Yeah.
30:24 - There was some, what do you call that?
30:26 The muzzle, oh yeah, that's great.
30:27 - Oh yeah, sure.
30:28 - The muzzle fire, the Photoshop.
30:32 - I'm actually like very unclear about what the thread is.
30:35 - Monster.
30:36 - Yeah, just monster.
30:37 - The monster that killed me.
30:38 (laughing)
30:40 - Lot of credits.
30:42 (laughing)
30:43 - And then there you go.
30:44 - You know what, I had a good time.
30:45 (laughing)
30:46 I had a good time.
30:48 - This was a really good day.
30:49 - I hate to say it,
30:50 but all good things have to come to an end.
30:52 - Yeah, this is our final one.
30:53 - A Tricky Treat, a Halloween funny tale.
30:56 So a man is kidnapped by a very strange family
30:59 and his fate is held in the hands of two kids.
31:00 A Tricky Treat presents a shocking tale
31:02 of the unexpected with a twist.
31:04 - What a twist.
31:05 - Guess what?
31:06 Only a billion film festivals.
31:09 Oh, they got critic quotes.
31:10 - Wow, they got reviews.
31:11 - Here's what we'll do.
31:12 We'll watch it, then we'll go down to the critic reviews
31:14 and we'll see.
31:15 - Yeah, I like that.
31:16 (upbeat music)
31:18 - Ooh, I like it.
31:21 And I like the font too, it was great.
31:24 - Honey, I gotta go finish that job in the garage.
31:29 - Okay, sweetheart, the kids should be ready
31:31 when you're back.
31:33 - I like that stove, it's nice and old looking.
31:35 - Retro.
31:36 - Yeah, it's cool.
31:37 - But what's that?
31:38 What's this choice?
31:39 - It's moon with an overlay.
31:42 (bells ringing)
31:44 It's like a crumble pop overlay of dust.
31:50 - See, I feel like you gotta introduce this to me.
31:53 - I don't know what the hell is going on.
31:55 - Yeah, right?
31:56 - What's with the, are these digital effects?
31:58 No?
31:59 - It's like a crumble pop overlay
32:02 that you can put over things.
32:04 - But it's slow-mo while the film itself is,
32:06 what the hell?
32:07 (motor revving)
32:10 (glass shattering)
32:11 - What?
32:12 (laughing)
32:13 - Maybe just--
32:14 - Wow!
32:15 - That's the best one yet, huh?
32:16 - Yeah.
32:17 - Wow, that's a ripe one.
32:18 - Maybe just open with that, right?
32:19 That would've opened with a hit.
32:20 - Yeah.
32:21 - So glad we do this tradition.
32:23 - Yeah, son.
32:24 All right, let's give a moment of thanks.
32:26 Okay.
32:27 (laughing)
32:28 - Okay, here we go.
32:29 - This is kind of effective.
32:30 - Ew, it's still--
32:31 - It's (beep) disgusting.
32:32 - Yeah, it's a pretty good whatever that is.
32:35 - Yeah.
32:36 - Prosthetic, I don't know.
32:37 - Come on.
32:38 - Or probably--
32:39 (laughing)
32:40 - Yeah, it's a pretty good--
32:40 - Yeah, it must be.
32:41 - Yeah!
32:42 (laughing)
32:43 - I like this.
32:44 I didn't really like what preceded it.
32:45 - Yeah.
32:46 - That was some nice brains.
32:47 - Disgusting.
32:48 - Get in there, we're gonna--
32:49 - This is awesome.
32:50 (laughing)
32:51 - Yeah, they had--
32:52 - Look at this.
32:53 - It's like cracking open a lobster or like a turkey.
32:56 - Yeah, they had somebody who goes to that
32:58 Hollywood makeup school or whatever.
33:00 - Yeah.
33:00 - This is great.
33:01 I mean, it's really disgusting.
33:03 (laughing)
33:05 Ew.
33:07 - You ready to go outside?
33:08 - Yeah.
33:09 - Nice.
33:10 Oh, like yeah, showing us.
33:11 - Yeah.
33:12 - But whatever that stupid snow was.
33:14 - Hold very still, kids.
33:16 - Oh, I get it.
33:18 - Oh, yeah, okay.
33:19 - Okay.
33:20 - It's cute.
33:21 - All right.
33:21 - You know what I think would have been a little bit,
33:22 'cause that obviously looks really stupid.
33:24 - Yep.
33:25 - What if you had just seen them from behind?
33:28 So like you see like pumpkin heads from behind.
33:30 - Yeah, I think that would have been more effective.
33:31 - And you kind of realize like,
33:32 oh, these are pumpkin people.
33:33 - And I think just ditch the whole thing
33:35 of him sitting in the chair.
33:36 - Or literally just make him like have this kind of face.
33:40 Like you don't have to superimpose people.
33:41 - Yeah.
33:42 - Right.
33:43 - Like do the classic Jack and the Panthers.
33:44 - Yeah, just have them be kind of spooky Jack and the Panthers.
33:46 - That would have been way better.
33:47 Instead we had like the annoying orange kind of feel.
33:50 - Yeah.
33:51 - At least it had an idea.
33:52 - No, I--
33:53 - Which is more than anything else you had.
33:53 - I thought it was kind of cool.
33:54 - It had a really cool prop.
33:56 The beginning looked a little weird and cheap
33:57 with the overlay.
33:58 - Yeah, that was the worst part.
34:00 - Even when they killed the guy,
34:01 it had like a weird digital blood splatter.
34:04 - The most deliciously vile of the bloodbath
34:06 comes from Patricia Chica, says Fangoria.
34:08 The Independent Critic says,
34:09 "Welcome to the world of a tricky treat.
34:10 "An immensely satisfying three minute short
34:12 "centered around one ill-fated man
34:14 "who not so willingly encounters a family
34:16 "who invites him into their ghoulishly sentimental
34:18 "Halloween tradition.
34:19 "Nasty little ditty that tends to shock, horrify,
34:21 "and make some even gag,
34:22 "but eventually ends on a creepy funny note."
34:24 - Greatest serving of the payoff is perfect.
34:26 - Yeah, I generally agree with these sentiments.
34:27 - Is that the best one of the bunch?
34:29 - I kind of think the Uber Eats one
34:31 was definitely the best,
34:31 but I don't think that that really qualifies
34:33 because it has 100K views on the platform.
34:35 - I like this one 'cause it was more succinct.
34:36 - Yeah, a pretty good crop this year.
34:38 A couple duds.
34:39 - One year I would love for the theme
34:41 to be like that level of quality,
34:43 like on-camera microphones, white walls in apartments,
34:46 artifacts around the font.
34:47 - The problem is people just don't upload those anymore.
34:49 Like everything that's new that's uploaded
34:51 is stuff like this.
34:52 - Technology's there, you can get--
34:55 - Who still has TRVs with widescreen mode?
34:57 (beep)
34:57 - I didn't think you were--
34:59 (car engine roaring)
35:00 Guys, what the (beep) is that?
