00:00And the playoff matchup is set.
00:03Sunday night, game one.
00:05Wednesday night, game two.
00:08Saturday night, game three, Chase Center.
00:11Monday night, game four, Chase Center.
00:14Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday, Monday.
00:16Correct.
00:17Wow.
00:18That's great for an older team.
00:2012 days between now and game four.
00:23So you've got no game, no game, no game, no game.
00:27All right, yes.
00:28Game, no game, no game.
00:30So between now and next Wednesday, they'll play twice.
00:35But next Wednesday would be the second time, eight days.
00:38Man, that is pretty sweet.
00:40And I thought that's the way it would break.
00:42And one more thing, because they lost Sunday, if they had won Sunday,
00:46their first game would be Saturday.
00:48So they really only lost one day of rest before game one.
00:51And you're playing Amin Thompson instead of LeBron James.
00:55Yeah, dude, I'm telling you, it worked out.
00:59Work doesn't mean they're going to win.
01:00That's not what I'm saying.
01:01We've got time to break that all down.
01:04I do think that they will win, but we've got plenty of time for that.
01:07Sure.
01:07But this worked out better.
01:08I've got the Mavs in six.
01:12Sorry.
01:12It had to be done once.
01:15It's that nice classic prediction from a lot of years ago.
01:17It only took a half hour.
01:18This guy is such a D.
01:21I would have gone there in the crossover, but we were hot on the game
01:25and the last two-minute report.
01:27And, yes, just 30 seconds on the refs.
01:30I don't think that they had a good night, but I think that they were equally bad.
01:34And that's less than 30 seconds, but I think that there were missed calls both ways.
01:38And both sides could be equally upset, but I didn't hear anyone on either side
01:43really complain.
01:43I wasn't really all about the refs until we got to the last 90 seconds of the game,
01:48and I just saw two calls that I was like, no, no, no, don't do those, especially not now.
01:53You know what I mean?
01:53Like, no, those are wrong.
01:56But outside of that, I mean, Jimmy Butler and Steph Curry had a parade at the free throw line.
02:02So I don't know how, as a Warrior fan, you can look at the entire game
02:06and think it was a bad whistle.
02:08There's plenty of calls throughout the night where you're like, what the hell are they doing?
02:11But believe you me, I didn't watch the game with any Grizzlies fans.
02:15I'm sure they were saying the same thing.
02:17I guarantee it.
02:19They've got fans, right?
02:20The Grizzlies have fans?
02:21Oh, yeah.
02:22Okay.
02:22No doubt.
02:23All right.
02:23Hey, let's go to the phones.
02:24We really want to hear from everybody today.
02:26So I guess who's on the line to start us off today?
02:28This is fun.
02:29It's Robin.
02:30Okay.
02:31Yeah.
02:32Robin!
02:33How you doing?
02:34Hey, you guys.
02:36I'm doing better.
02:37Thank you for asking.
02:38Good.
02:39I had some help.
02:40Yeah.
02:40Yeah, you know, this getting older is not for sissies.
02:44You know that, right?
02:45No, it's not that fun.
02:48No, it's not.
02:49But listen, I just got several points.
02:52Hold on.
02:52You know me.
02:53First of all, I want to say this about Jimmy Butler and his ability to play one-on-one.
03:00It was the same thing with KD.
03:02Even back then, the fan base would get on it.
03:04But the thing is, when that motion ball doesn't work, they need a good isolation player.
03:09And they didn't have one until they got KD, and now they got Jimmy.
03:13Okay?
03:14How funny we come full circle with that.
03:17But I also wanted to say that we need to rebound because we're undersized.
03:23I was having a conversation with someone, and I just wanted to share these points with you guys really quick and get off the air.
03:29I was saying, you know, the last five minutes of the game, you know, they either lose it, they lose the lead, or they lose it.
03:36And it's killing all of us.
03:37I'm about ready to have a heart attack.
03:39I actually get up and walk away from the TV, guys, turn it off, and just look at the score, you know, check the score on the phone because I literally can't take it.
03:49And so this is what we came up with about why they can't hold leads.
03:54They lack size, and they give up easy offensive rebounds.
03:59Draymont commits dumb fouls and turns the ball over.
04:02Curry isn't set on a rotation, so nobody's in rhythm.
04:06Curry's fatigued and hurt, so he's missing shots.
04:09Except he would normally drop.
04:11There are better teams in the West.
04:16Being a flawed misses team didn't show me anything.
04:20This should have been a 20-point beatdown.
04:22Instead, the Warriors barely made it out, and that's sad.
04:25And the last thing I want to say is when we won that championship in 2022, we were undersized then, but we had rebounded because Looney was a rebound machine.
04:37What people are crazy about, J.K. about, because he's athletic probably the most, but he don't rebound worth the damn.
04:46Peace out.
04:47Take care of yourselves and love one another.
04:50Bye-bye, man.
04:50Thank you, Robin.
04:51Thank you, Robin.
04:52All right, a couple things.
04:53That's all some really interesting stuff.
04:55First of all, you may have memorized this already.
04:57Don't look.
04:58Don't look at the box score.
04:59Do you know who the Warriors' leading rebounder was last night?
05:02Oh, boy.
05:03Don't look.
05:03A leading rebounder.
05:05Don't look.
05:05Yeah.
05:06Ah, boy.
05:09I don't know.
05:10I would have to say it's probably Jimmy Butler.
05:12Nope.
05:13Nope.
05:14Jimmy had seven.
05:15Too quick, Grandy.
05:16He was second.
05:17I know the answer.
05:18He had seven.
05:18Of course you do.
05:19You were there, and you did the post-game show.
05:22If you don't know it, that's a fireable offense.
05:24Yeah.
05:24Well, I know it, so.
05:25Jimmy had seven.
05:26Well, then ask him.
05:28Well, no.
05:28Instead of making the bit about how I'm wrong and I get buzzed.
05:31But that's not.
05:32That wouldn't go very far.
05:34He knows.
05:34I know he knows.
05:36And he knows that I know he knows.
05:38He was the fake rebound leader, by the way.
05:39It shouldn't count.
05:40I just wondered if you want.
05:41And that's fair, too.
05:42It was Steph Curry.
05:44Steph Curry led the team in rebounds last night.
05:46With?
05:47Eight.
05:47Okay.
05:48So, it's not.
05:49Robin has some points.
05:51But you brought up something right before she came on that I think is important.
05:55When she says, man, the Warriors, here's all the characteristics of why they blow these leads.
06:01I think that they blow leads because in the NBA, leads get blown.
06:07Unless you're an awful team or having an awful night, these 15 to 20 point leads in the age of the three pointer and the way people shoot it,
06:14they're just not what you used to think they were.
06:17So, I think it's us.
06:18I think our brain, we grew up in an age where when you got to 20, deuces.
06:26Ball game.
06:26It was over, yeah.
06:27It's not the case anymore.
06:29And so, what's the Warriors, because this was another one, what's the Warriors clutch record since Jimmy Butler arrived?
06:39They're actually 10 and 4.
06:41So, they don't blow it.
06:43They don't have everything go wrong down the stretch.
06:46Coach, you said to me, what did you tell me about Memphis and the lead or leads they took in the fourth quarter?
06:52It felt like they were up by four at one point, maybe even more.
06:57Just remembering, watching it, the stress that I was feeling.
07:00And when I looked at the box score a little bit ago, they led by two early in the fourth and they led by one with about nine minutes left.
07:08End of Memphis leads.
07:09And that's it.
07:10And that's going to do it for them leading in the fourth quarter.
07:13I really think it's us.
07:14I think it's our emotions.
07:15I think it's our stress.
07:16I think it's the way we watch basketball.
07:19And we look at it.
07:20And every fan I've ever known thinks this about their team.
07:24Everybody that we let get away in a trade is always great.
07:28And we always blow it.
07:30Our team always blows it.
07:32No, you just feel those a lot more.
07:35The Warriors do not always blow it.
07:37The Warriors have been phenomenal in close games with Jimmy Butler.
07:4110 and 4 is their record.
07:42The Memphis Grizzlies, while I don't think they're great, they're certainly a capable and talented NBA team and shot over 50% from three.
07:54If they do that, they're going to come at you.
07:57They're going to come at you.
07:58And, yes, the Warriors are undersized.
08:01Newsflash.
08:01It's been that way since I think that I could drink, for crying out loud.
08:06The Warriors are always undersized.
08:07Pretty much.
08:08And, you know, when you blow a 20-point lead and you blow it halfway through the second quarter, for me, that's not blowing a 20-point lead.
08:15That's you being unbelievably hot.
08:17And then you grew a little bit cold, and I'm looking at it here, where Edie with a dunk, Morant a couple free throws, Aldama a three, Morant a dunk.
08:26That's a 9-0 run.
08:27Now it's an 11-point game.
08:28So you go from 20 to 11, and you didn't score.
08:33You had a turnover.
08:34You had a GP2 missed three ball and the rest of it.
08:37So, yeah, that's a blown 20-point lead eventually.
08:41But you didn't go from up 20 to down 8 like Memphis did against Minnesota last week.
08:46We talked about it with Eric Hasseltine yesterday where, you know, they gave up 50 points in the third.
08:52They were up 6 at the half, and now you're down 14.
08:55That's a blown lead.
08:56This lead never got blown.
08:58It went from, oh, my God, they're on fire to now we got a ball game.
09:01Yeah, I agree with you.
09:02I think we need to change the word.
09:05That's not a blown lead.
09:07That's not a blown lead.
09:08It's just a game of runs.
09:09And what you hope for when you go up 20 is to stay hot.
09:14It's an opportunity to blow the game out.
09:17They didn't do it.
09:18Memphis made some shots.
09:20To me, now you've got to get north of 25.
09:23If you're north of 25.
09:24In the second half, right?
09:26At any point.
09:26If you're ever up by more than 25, that's when I'm like, okay, you should.
09:31I'm not saying you're going to win by 25, but if you're ever up by more than 25,
09:36you should win that basketball game.
09:38You should win that basketball game.
09:40And by the way, they did win this basketball game.
09:42They did.
09:42And so from the point where they were up by 20 and the point where they blew the lead,
09:47it took Memphis two and a half quarters to actually regain the lead.
09:51So that for me is not a classically blown lead.
09:55And if you look in the third quarter, most of the time it was 11, nine, it got down to
10:01five, back to seven, back to five.
10:03It got down to two.
10:04Then it was one.
10:06So it did get a lot dicier in the third quarter, but eventually you were able to stem the tide
10:12and the Warriors never gave up the lead until the fourth quarter when it was a little bit
10:16more back and forth.
10:17Right, right.
10:17Yeah.
10:17And I think they went in, were they up by only two, I think, at the start of the fourth?
10:23Is that right?
10:23I think they were up by only two points.
10:25Yeah, three at the end of three.
10:26Yeah.
10:26Okay.
10:27Was it three?
10:27Yeah.
10:27All right.
10:28All right.
10:28I knew it was one possession.
10:29So yeah, you had to like, at that point, like that doesn't even count as a lead.
10:33Like somebody walks down, shoots the ball and the lead's gone.
10:35Like that's not a lead.
10:37Right, right.
10:37Like that's not a lead.
