PAGASA: Parts of Luzon, Mindanao to experience scattered rains due to 3 weather systems

00:00Good morning and live from the weather forecasting center,

00:08our time of the day is now on Feb. 16, 2025.

00:14From our latest satellite images, we can see that there are still 3 weather systems

00:18that are affecting our country.

00:20First, the shear line that will still bring rains particularly in extreme northern Luzon.

00:25Again, the shear line is made of hot and cool air

00:28and it brings rain, especially here in the extreme northern Luzon.

00:33We still have the Easter Leaves or the wind from the Pacific Ocean.

00:37It brings rain, especially here in the eastern part of the northern and central Luzon.

00:44Meanwhile, we have the Intertropical Convergence Zone or ITCZ.

00:48This is where the wind comes from the different hemispheres of the world.

00:53As you can see, there are clouds in the southern part of Mindanao.

00:57That's why today, there is a high chance of cloudy weather in the southern part of Mindanao,

01:06especially in the Zamboanga Peninsula, and also in the Barm, Soxargen, and Davao region.

01:12Meanwhile, based on our latest data, we are not monitoring any low-pressure areas.

01:18We also don't have any typhoons inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

01:22However, the winds are getting weaker.

01:25That's why today, the weather is a bit hot, especially here in the northern part of the country,

01:31including the province of Bataan.

01:33And a large part of our country will experience generally fair weather,

01:37with isolated weather, such as rain, thunderstorms, and storms,

01:42mostly in the afternoon and evening.

01:45We expect that in the next few days,

01:47possibly tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday, the winds will be strong again

01:51and the weather will be cold again in our country.

01:55But again, today, we expect that in the afternoon,

01:57the weather will be a bit hot in a large part of our country.

02:02Here in Luzon, we still expect a high chance of rain in Batanes and Baboyan Islands,

02:08along the shoreline.

02:10Meanwhile, there will be heavy rains in the eastern part of the country,

02:13particularly in the mainland, such as Isabela, Aurora, and Lalawigan in Quezon.

02:19In the southern part of Luzon, we expect generally fair weather,

02:23but isolated rain, showers, and thunderstorms are still possible.

02:27And like what I said earlier, the winds are a bit weak,

02:30so the weather will be a bit hot, especially here in the northern part of Luzon.

02:34The temperature outside is 24 to 31 degrees Celsius in Tuguegarao,

02:3923 to 31 degrees Celsius in Baguio,

02:4216 to 23 degrees Celsius in Metro Manila.

02:45It's a bit hot today, 23 to 32 degrees Celsius in Tagaytay,

03:17The temperature in Iloilo is 25 to 31 degrees Celsius,

03:25and in Tacloban, 24 to 32 degrees Celsius.

03:29And due to the ITCZ, or Intertropical Convergence Zone,

03:32there's a high chance of cloudy skies,

03:35with heavy rains in Buanga Peninsula,

03:38in the Barm area,

03:40in Sultan Kudarat area,

03:43in South Cotabato,

03:44and in Davao region.

03:46There's a high chance of sudden floods,

03:50landslides, and landslides in the southern part of Mindanao.

03:55A large portion of Mindanao will experience isolated rain,

03:59showers, and thunderstorms today.

04:02But generally, fair weather in a large portion of Visayas

04:05and other parts of Mindanao.

04:07The temperature in Buanga is 24 to 32 degrees Celsius,

04:11in Cagandeoro, 24 to 32 degrees Celsius,

04:14while in Davao, 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.

04:19And because the wind is a bit weak,

04:21we don't have high gale warnings in any part of our country.

04:24This means that sea vehicles and small boats

04:28will not be able to reach our neighboring islands,

04:30even though there's a high chance of sudden floods,

04:34especially if there are thunderstorms.

04:37So be careful, especially for our countrymen

04:39who have small boats.
