00:00It is caught! Touchdown!
00:04The New England Patriots select Drake May.
00:08He's got the ball! And that's the ball game!
00:12Here we are, the All-32 pod once again. Mike Ciardi alongside
00:16Will Parkinson. Big show planned for you as we get ready for the AFC
00:20and the NFC title games. We're going to go through the coaching search as well. A reminder, this show brought
00:24to you by PrizePix, the exclusive Daily Fantasy partner of the CLNS Media
00:28Network. In game time, best tickets, best prices. To get you in to see any event
00:32you want to see, let's jump into the coaching. Let's jump into what happened.
00:36What do we got? Texans have fired team president
00:40Greg Grissom. Grissom, sorry. That was out of nowhere.
00:44Bit of a surprise. Not anything that cool, but
00:48team president being fired out of nowhere in the middle of the offseason
00:52is not normal. Particularly when the organization seems
00:56like it's finally pointed in the right direction. You know what we should do?
01:00Texans.
01:04The Texans will Texan still, even with the contract extension
01:08pre maybe a lawsuit coming up. You never know with them.
01:12Let's get into the head coaching. Let's get into Aaron Glenn
01:16officially the hire for the Jets. We talked about it. We've talked about
01:20it quite a bit for the last, I don't even know how long, months really, but
01:24Aaron Glenn, I'm sure you've heard in on him. Got him. Just the overall vibe
01:28you're picking up from from the Jets offices right now.
01:32Yeah, it's look. This has been the guy for this dates back
01:36three years ago at like at the at the
01:40like it dates back 20 years ago, but three years ago at the Senior Bowl,
01:44the Lions were coaching and and Jets were also coaching there and Glenn
01:48who had a relationship with a couple of Jets guys that you know some of the Jets
01:52you know where she media in particular who's rich covered and Glenn's first
01:56practice with the Jets for Newsday back in 94 with the
02:00locker next to Ronnie Lott. Carol's head coach
02:04the Jets traded up ahead of the Saints in that draft one pick
02:08to grab Aaron Glenn. Everyone thought they'd go receiver. They draft Aaron Glenn. There's five nine
02:12corner at Texas A&M. I was pretty cool that that clip
02:16if you like retro like watching some of those draft clips from the 90s and 80s. It actually
02:20was really cool. Boomer Boomer looks great. Kiefer's there's going in the whole thing
02:24but loved it in New York and he told you know
02:28rich at the time the Jets were his dream had coaching job and this is Aaron interviewed in 2021.
02:32He was he had been a coordinator. I mean he'd been in a D-backs coach for one year. It's not you know
02:36right got some preliminaries on him. He had scouted for the
02:40Jets in-house and as you know and on the road
02:44so this is not this is not a surprise. He's a Texas guy.
02:48He talks about it. That's why he ended up retiring in Houston and he went followed Bill
02:52and Dallas and stuff but he's been a jet forever.
02:56They've you know first game of the stars a player. He made multiple
03:00Pro Bowls. People don't remember 96 and the Jets had
03:04the first pick back to back years, but 96 they were awful.
03:08They went one in 15. They were the worst team I've ever seen
03:12and you know Keyshawn's a rookie. They've Aaron Glenn. They start to bud
03:16town. Bill Parcells comes in and changed Aaron Glenn's life
03:20became a Pro Bowl level corner. There's multiple Pro Bowls
03:24obviously and an All-Pro. The Jets 12 months later were in the
03:28AFC title game and up 10-0 against the Dynasty Broncos on the road and had
03:32every reason to be going to the Super Bowl. Had Curse Martin not fumbled and we can do that whole
03:36diatribe of like what happened in the 90s, but Aaron watched
03:40and helped turn this organization around and it's probably its low point
03:44or one of its lowest points in 97-96 going into
03:4897-98. Was then a scout under Rex Ryan and Mike Tannenbaum. Mike
03:52Tannenbaum who was running the interview process. There's a picture I tweeted out of Rex
03:56Woody Johnson and Aaron Glenn in his first year scouting. He's obviously
04:00he's worked his way up. He's been a scout. He's played in the league for 15 years.
04:04He's been a coach at every level and
04:08one thing I'll say about Aaron Glenn and this is the reason I think Mike Vrabel and Aaron Glenn
04:12Mike Vrabel was not a good defensive coordinator. He was a really damn good head coach.
04:16He was an awesome player. He was an awesome position coach. He had a
04:20year in Houston Mike and I don't remember Mike Vrabel. We weren't like wow great D.C.
04:24We were like Mike Vrabel probably is a great leader of men. He will hire a really
04:28strong staff and he'll figure it out. That's what the hope is with Aaron Glenn. He's going to have that
04:32Vrabel Pete Carroll level role where he's going to run everything. It's going to be his franchise.
04:36He's the face. The face now of the Patriots is Mike Vrabel and Drake May.
04:40The Jets will be their future quarterback whoever may be in Aaron Glenn. It's not about Woody
04:44and whoever they hire GM. Darren Moogie looks like
04:48the favorite at the moment. Mike could get hired before this episode comes out.
04:52But it'll be about Aaron Glenn. They want him to bring a couple
04:56scouts, a couple nerds with him and he'll do his thing.
05:00Good defensive coordinator, better coach.
05:04A couple of things that I just want to highlight here and I'll turn over to you on your thoughts but
05:08a couple quotes I got. Very big in analytics. I talked about that the other day.
05:12Aaron Glenn, he's on the Pivot podcast
05:16with Ryan Clark and Fred Taylor who he played with in Jacksonville and the whole thing.
05:20One thing stood out to me and this has been, you ask any Lions player, any Saints
05:24player, Chris Banjo is probably going to be their deep special teams coordinator who played for him
05:28in New Orleans. Sean Payton, Dan Campbell, Bill Parcells
05:32all very successful. That's his tree.
05:36There's a lot of Parcells in Aaron Glenn and Bill Belichick.
05:40The 98 Jets staff, what Glenn is based on,
05:44the way he talks about it, he said he models himself after Belichick.
05:48We're talking 90s Belichick, not 2019 Belichick who was just kind of an asshole.
05:52We're talking the guy that was the most bright defensive mind in the world.
05:56Parcells and Payton. He said that anybody that doesn't
06:00follow his standards is a traitor and can go play anywhere else. You're going to follow my standard.
06:04We're going to play violent football and we want to bring violent football back to the NFL.
06:08Again, good defensive coordinator. I think he's going to be a better head coach.
06:12They got to get quarterback and offensive coordinator right. That's all that's paramount.
06:16On the face of it, I'm not sure the Jets and Jets fans could have asked for a better
06:20like, oh, we can take a deep breath. It's not about Aaron Rodgers
06:24anymore. It's about Aaron Glenn. I love your point about sort of him embracing
06:28the qualities of that staff that he grew up under as a player
06:32because Vrabel to me is the exact same thing.
06:36Mike, in a lot of ways, when you hear Mike talk about what he wants in a football team
06:40and what he wants out of players and the opportunities that are going to present themselves.
06:44In other words, we let you try something. If you show us that you can handle it,
06:48we'll give you a little bit more and then a little bit more. You earn the opportunities
06:52that you get and if you continue to get them and make something out of them,
06:56then we'll give you more. But the whole baseline of his belief system
07:00was what Belichick brought to the table
07:04when Vrabel was his player underneath him in New England. And obviously Belichick
07:08got that from Parcells, right?
07:12Vrabel has more of the Parcells personality
07:16but the baseline of what he is as a football coach
07:20comes off of that tree. Yeah, these guys, I think Vrabel and Glenn very specifically
07:24they played under Bill and they played under Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick
07:28I believe, if I'm not mistaken, was Vrabel there
07:32when Parcells was in New England? I don't know.
07:36No, he was brought in. He was in the 2001
07:40before the 2001 season. He was part of that free agent class.
07:44Regardless, these guys played under these guys. So they're a Belichick tree or Parcells guy.
07:48Aaron Glenn is a Sean Payton guy. That's his coaching tree.
07:52Who is a Parcells guy? So it's like Vrabel is a Bill O'Brien guy
07:56is a Bill Belichick guy. So it's a little bit removed where you don't try to emulate
08:00and be this person you're not. And the one thing I think is the key here
08:04I'll say this, and I'm going to be pretty harsh about Robert Sala here, but Robert Sala
08:08cared more about being liked than winning, in my opinion. That's the way his tenure felt
08:12with the Jets. I want to be liked by all these other coaches. I want to be liked by all these players.
08:16I want to be best friends and buddies. And I can't speak to John Mayer. I was in the locker room
08:20but sometimes it feels like you don't need to be buddy-buddy with everybody. There's a good
08:24side to have that. Aaron Glenn's like, I'll watch tape with you and I'll talk you through
08:28situations, girlfriend problems, all that stuff. I'll be there for you as a brother
08:32father figure. But when it's time to go, it's time to go. And I want to win
08:36more than I want to be your buddy. So I don't think there will be
08:40a problem with Aaron Glenn telling anybody in that organization, including
08:44Woody Johnson, including his kids, to shove it where the sun don't shine.
08:48It's very similar to my example. It's the same thing like, hey, I appreciate it. You're my boss.
08:52I don't really want you to fire me. But I'm going to be who I'm going to be
08:56and I'm not wavering.
09:00Take me or leave me. He said the one quote I liked
09:04he asked him about the Rooney Rule. And obviously Aaron Glenn's a guy who people feel like,
09:08oh, is he affected by it? He said, if you don't think I'm the best candidate for the job
09:12do not interview me. I have no interest in your job. I'm not a token.
09:16And I was like, this dude truly just
09:20believes in himself. And there's no fluff, man. He's like,
09:24I'm who I am. Take it or leave it. And the Jets took it. And I think it's going to
09:28we don't know if it's going to result in wins. But I think there's going to be a much more
09:32the culture there for at least next year and the year after probably
09:36will be much different than the mopey, crappy
09:40Rodgers, solid lead culture.
09:44They need to flush that out big time. It reminds me of what Vrabel said at his press conference.
09:48We've got to remove entitlement. The Jets have to remove entitlement from that organization
09:52and getting Rodgers out of the building is certainly a way to start.
09:56Nick Haley.
10:00Keyshawn Johnson, teammate of Aaron Glenn, about 10 minutes ago said there is
10:04zero chance Aaron Glenn has interest in Aaron Rodgers
10:08on his team. I believe Rodgers is going to retire. And I just don't think Keyshawn just says stuff
10:12I take that back. Keyshawn does say stuff to stay stuff, but I don't
10:16think that he would have, for a guy that he's teammates with and buddies
10:20with multiple years, multiple different stops, I don't think he would just
10:24like James Jones when he would say stuff about Rodgers or Rodney Harrison and the McCourty's
10:28would say stuff about the Patriots. That's not a guess.
10:32It feels like it's an educated opinion.
10:36Nick Haley
10:40has in the last 24 hours emerged as the front runner for the offensive coordinator position.
10:44Of course, his background, he was with the Patriots for a number of years,
10:48was in the last year of his contract, appeared to be in line to be the
10:52offensive coordinator when Josh McDaniels took the gig with Las Vegas, and that is
10:56when Bill Belichick decided, no, you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to put Matt Patricia
11:00and Joe Judge in charge of the offense. Obviously
11:04at the end of the year, Haley left, went to the West Coast, joined
11:08Sean McVay's staff. He was up for the OC position. In fact, he
11:12was the choice for Gerard Mayo and the Patriots staff last year, turned down
11:16the job. There was some talk that it was about money.
11:20I think there was just reservation in general with the entire setup there
11:24and the Rams turned around, reworked his contract,
11:28gave him more duties, more responsibilities in LA. I think
11:32he is a bright guy. I think Tom Pelissero five years ago had him as
11:36an up and coming head coach. The one fear would be obviously he still
11:40hasn't called plays, so he will be a first-time play caller for a first-time
11:44head coach, and that's where beyond that hire, which is
11:48critically important for Aaron Glenn, becomes the next
11:52layer to that is who helps Nick Haley become the offensive
11:56coordinator that you want to be. Obviously having experience under McDaniels is great
12:00because Josh is a really good offensive coordinator. Now having the experience of being under a different
12:04tree and a different style in McVay, a great play caller,
12:08is also really important, but I'd still, if I was them,
12:12if I'm Aaron Glenn, I'd still want someone who's been around the game a lot longer
12:16than Nick has to just sort of be his right-hand guy.
12:20Bounce things off of, hey, you might be overlooking this or maybe you need to look that direction.
12:24I feel like Aaron's got a good handle on, especially
12:28having come from Dan Campbell's staff and the way Dan built his staff,
12:32that I would feel like Aaron's got a good handle on. If I'm going to go this route,
12:36I need some experience there alongside. You know the name that's
12:40likely to join the Jets staff? It's a blast from the past. Todd Haley
12:44is the guy. He coached Glenn. I'm telling you, I
12:48researched that Jets staff from 98 to 2000.
12:52His coaches, most of whom we've joined him on the staff
12:56or who endorsed him to get this Jets job. Todd Haley, likely to join
13:00his senior advisory role, is obviously multi-time head coach. He's a lunatic
13:04and their practices are going to be as intense as it's going to get.
13:08Todd Haley does not mess around. Todd Haley was the
13:12receivers coach. The DB coach, assistant DB coach, Todd
13:16Bowles, the real defensive back coach and defensive coordinator, Bill Belichick.
13:20There was Charlie Weiss. A lot of the Patriots guys obviously ended up
13:24with the Dynasty guys, were on that Jets staff. And obviously Parcells.
13:28I would expect very, and then Mike Westhoff was also
13:32there, who is likely to resume kind of an advisory role.
13:36If you were asking the staff right now, it'll likely be
13:40offensively some combination of these five names.
13:44Nick Haley, who you just mentioned, who I think is the favorite. McVay had a quote today.
13:48There hasn't been a request yet or anything official. I think he knows
13:52it's going to happen. Good for Nick and good for Sean. He gave him a promotion.
13:56He came over. He helped him a lot this year and he'll get his own opportunity to grow his own
14:00tree. Josh McCown's the rogue outsider. Glenn's apparently interested
14:04there. It seems like Josh wouldn't leave just to be
14:08an OC. He would only leave to be a head coach. Mark Brunel and JT
14:12Barrett on the Lions staff. Those are guys to watch for both the Bears opening
14:16and also the Jets opening. Or do they get promoted to be the Bears,
14:20I mean to the Lions offensive coordinator role. Brunel obviously similar to McCown.
14:24Quarterback that saw everything, mentored a lot at the end and has been a quarterback coach with the Lions
14:28for four years. The other two names, Clint Kubiak
14:32and Hank Fraley. Fraley, the O-line coach
14:36looking to get that promotion to be an OC. He may get the Seattle job
14:40so we'll get a Seahawks shout out in this episode. And lastly, Clint Kubiak
14:44who's done a really nice job. I know we talked a little bit about him.
14:48Clint, could Gary Kubiak come and be the offensive advisor
14:52type of guy. So those are the names there. Defensively, it looks like Steve Wilkes is going to be the
14:56OC. Again, a guy with head coaching experience. And then lastly,
15:00Chris Banjo, former safety Glenn coach for four years in New Orleans
15:04has been the assistant special teams guy to Mike Westhoff out in Denver.
15:08It looks like Denver, there'll be a lot of, the Jets staff will be the Lions,
15:12Saints, Broncos, basically.
15:16Did you in some way touch the 98 Jets? If you did, you will be
15:20on the staff. Well, and it just goes to show you though that having
15:24Aaron between being a player and then getting
15:28into coaching and doing scouting and going through the different levels there, you
15:32build up relationships. Something Gerard Mayo didn't have a year ago when the
15:36Patriots were trying to form their staff. You let guys work their path through the league.
15:40Yeah, hodgepodge of guys. Like, we'll take this guy. I know him from a second
15:44guy over there. My brother's cousin's sister's friend. He'll
15:48come on board. Obviously, it didn't work.
15:52Let me read prize picks real quick for you people because
15:56we're getting down to the nitty gritty. Big game almost here. It's now or never. Don't miss out on the last
16:00football game of the season with prize picks. The best place to win cash while watching the
16:04big game. Prize picks also giving away a free pick for the big game where one of the starting
16:08quarterbacks will only need to throw to one yard to win if you're correct on it.
16:12At least one more stat projection, you can win real cash. Speaking of
16:16which, they've already got that for the NFC Championship game. Jaden Daniels
16:20only needs one passing yard or more
16:24for you to win one square. Then you just add to it
16:28and hopefully you can win up to a thousand times your cash. Again,
16:32at least two players up to six prize picks.
16:36Run your game all season long. Just download the app today. Use the code CLNS
16:40to get $50 off instantly. After you play your first $5 lineup again,
16:44download the app today. Use the code CLNS for $50
16:48off instantly after you play your first $5 lineup. You don't even have to win
16:52prize picks. Again, run your game.
16:56Mike, can we go to Dallas quickly? What do you got?
17:00Florio just put out an article. Again, take this for what you will. Brian Schottenheimer
17:04is deep. He interviewed for five hours yesterday. It's his second round. He's been
17:08the OC there. He obviously interviewed two days ago as well.
17:12There are some very respected Dallas Beat reporters that
17:16said the deal is going to be done soon. There's other Dallas reporters. Jane Slater
17:20said they're not close. Again, competing stories. This tends to happen this time
17:24of year. The rumor is
17:28Rex Ryan, who was supposed to get the job but due to money, apparently,
17:32according to Rex, did not take the job this year. Mike Zimmer ended up getting.
17:36Would join Brian Schottenheimer as his DC in Dallas,
17:40which to me is objectively funny because Rex was time with the Jets. His offensive
17:44coordinator was Brian Schottenheimer. What do you make of the Dallas
17:48turmoil in Dallas? Unserious
17:52franchise. That's the first thing that came to mind. There are a bunch of them
17:56in the National Football League, but when you consider the brand that is the Dallas
18:00Cowboys, when you consider the financial resources that
18:04Jerry has, Jerry's world is unbelievable. It's the greatest stadium.
18:08Well, I haven't been to the LA one yet, so I can't say it's better than the LA one,
18:12but I've been to the Dallas one. I've been to the others. The Dallas stadium is
18:16unbelievable. It's a gold mine. He has a
18:20franchise-ish quarterback. Franchise quarterback, depending on how you feel about
18:24Dak Prescott. He has C.D. Lamb, one of the three best receivers in football.
18:28There is an inordinate amount
18:32of things that line up for that franchise to be good almost every year,
18:36and he's not approaching it that way.
18:40He didn't approach it that way with Jason Garrett, who was a puppet as his head coach for, what,
18:44nine years, I believe it was, and Brian Schottenheimer feels to me like
18:48this is the next version of Jason Garrett. I can control the coach.
18:52I'm the star. He's not the star, and this is how we go.
18:56If I was a player there, and I'm not saying Brian Schottenheimer
19:00is a hack. He's not. He's been in the league for a long time, right? He's a good football coach.
19:04And I would be a good head coach.
19:08And maybe he turns out to be a great head coach, but there's nothing
19:12in his past that would lead you to believe that that's what he's going to be.
19:16At best, this is like an average hire
19:20doesn't push the needle one way or another. And again, if I'm a Cowboys
19:24player, I'm looking at my owner going,
19:28are you serious? You fired Mike McCarthy, who has a resume and at least
19:32one Super Bowl win. You fired him to hire his
19:36coordinator? That's what this search was all about? And it always felt like this was
19:40going to go in a weird direction. Kellen Moore seemingly felt like
19:44that was the way it was going to be. And we'll see. As you said, there's varying reports, but I just
19:48think it's laughable. I do. I really do. And good for him if he
19:52gets the opportunity. Truly.
19:56I know it's a different situation, but it is a little...
20:00Again, I know Mike McCarthy is not Bill Belichick
20:04or Bill Parcells, but part of me feels like it's like,
20:08oh, we're going to fire Bill. And we just can't wait to get this coordinator who
20:12probably doesn't have the resume to be a head coach right now. It's different. Gerard's younger.
20:16But the Jets, Parcells walks away. They hire Billy, who obviously leaves. And they're like,
20:20here's Al Groh. You're like, are you serious? This is a good team.
20:24We were in the playoffs last year. What are we doing here?
20:28The problem for me is it's not even about Brian Schottenheimer
20:32as you mentioned. Look at the other names that are finalists.
20:36Robert Sala, Anthony Weaver.
20:40Oh my God, I just blanked out. Kellen Moore, Jason Witten. There was the
20:44Deion Sanders rumors. Wesley Frazier. Dude, those are
20:48the names, if I'm being entirely honest and real
20:52about it, are the names that you look at and you go, the worst team in the NFL is probably
20:56the Houston Texans three years ago, four years ago, when they were looking at David Culley
21:00and Lovie Smith. It's like, retread here or retread there.
21:04I hope Brian Schottenheimer does an amazing job because he's
21:08worked an entire NFL life to get this opportunity. I hope he does.
21:12But the time for him to get a head coaching job was like 2011
21:16when the Jets won the AFC title game back-to-back years as the OC.
21:20Mike, that was 14 years ago. The Jets haven't been in the playoffs since. And Brian Schottenheimer
21:24hasn't deserved a job since as a head coach. So I don't know what they're doing.
21:28Well, you know what's kind of funny? You said like you're trying to make comparisons.
21:32Well, let's make the comparison to the Jacksonville Jaguars, who
21:36fired Doug Peterson as we all knew he was going to get fired. He gets fired.
21:40And after two weeks of a head coaching search in which their two top candidates
21:44were, um, why am I drawing a blank on his name?
21:48The coach of the Bears now. Oh, Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson.
21:52I was like, where did that go? Ben Johnson and Liam Cohen,
21:56head offensive coordinator for Tampa. Ben Johnson basically was like, you know what?
22:00No thank you, because you're keeping Trent Balke, the general manager, who has hired
22:04five different coaches and four of them were terrible.
22:08Look at his past history. This goes back to San Francisco now. Jim Tomsula.
22:12Right. One year. Chip Kelly, one year. Like literally just
22:16He had one year and one coach. And that was, again, like 15 years ago.
22:20Harbaugh, right. Um, so it takes them
22:24two weeks and Liam Cohen saying, you know what? I'm out.
22:28They think they're going to give him the job after Ben Johnson goes to Chicago.
22:32They'd zero in on Cohen. Who's going to say no to a head coaching job?
22:36We've got a, you know, whatever. We've got a $50 million quarterback who
22:40may or may not be good, but we have it. We have some pieces. We can create
22:44some cap space. Whatever. We've got a high draft pick. We've got all these things.
22:48And Cohen's like, no. And then they decide, you know what we should do?
22:52What everybody told us we should have done before the season even ended is fire Trent
22:56Balki. So they fired Trent Balki. And I'm guessing
23:00some, you know, we're taping this. It's Thursday, 4-12 in the afternoon.
23:04I'm guessing they're making one last overture to Liam Cohen and being like, dude,
23:08get your GM, whoever you want, and we got you here.
23:12And we'll see. Maybe Liam Cohen now is like, nope. You guys, again,
23:16I'm serious. You're an unserious organization. And I'll wait
23:20one more year and be like, maybe like Ben Johnson, where I
23:24was the hot guy last year, and I still remain the hot guy this year. And maybe
23:28there's a better job out there than the Jacksonville Jaguars.
23:30Yeah. I suggested this. I think when we, I don't know,
23:34maybe two weeks ago, three weeks ago, it feels like the best path
23:38for him was either take one of these jobs now or wait one more year, get another
23:42year of experience. The Buck's job's probably yours if anything goes wrong this year
23:46or if Todd decides, hey, man, I've been doing this as we've just talked about. He's on
23:50the DB coach in his 40s and the 90s Jets.
23:54This is quite a long time ago. Todd's been doing it a long time. Now, maybe
23:58he says, hey, I'm kind of tapped. I don't know. Maybe he really does. Maybe he doesn't.
24:02I have no idea. He's a good coach.
24:04Or maybe they say, hey, you've been good for us. We've won division titles,
24:08but you're not taking us to the next place. And maybe Liam becomes the coach in waiting.
24:12Yeah, a little Mike Martz, Dick Vermeule, obviously
24:16again, different situation. Just the hot shot offensive guy that doesn't have to be
24:20head coaching experience. This is
24:24so inept. Look, I understand if you try to sell me
24:28on, hey, listen, I know Trent hasn't done a great job, but he has drafted
24:32some good guys. Trevon Walker's actually good. Trevor Lawrence is
24:36good. Josh Hines-Allen is good. Look what he's done, man.
24:40We just haven't gotten the right coach. We made the playoffs two years ago. We won a playoff game
24:44three years ago, whatever. We should have made the playoffs as a division winner
24:48last year. We choked at the end. Trevor gets hurt.
24:52Whatever. Again, I wouldn't buy into it, but
24:56I could understand Sean Conley. For sure. Same way
25:00we talked about a lot. Drodd could have done it with the Patriots or all these things.
25:04But once you kept him and you fired Doug Peay,
25:08it was over. Now, figure out who you're going to get.
25:12Even if it's Robert Sala, who felt like the favorite,
25:16as soon as Liam Cohn pulled out. Now I don't know, because Bahlke
25:20did that. Ruined his shot. Who knows? He's interviewing, I believe,
25:24in person tomorrow as a second round.
25:28He's also apparently got an offer from San Francisco to be the highest paid defense coordinator
25:32in the league. That's a pretty good fallback place. Hey, go rebuild for a year.
25:36Dallas and Vegas still. It's crazy. This guy was
25:40whatever.
25:44I guess what I'm struggling with, Mike, is they're going to turn to
25:48hope Joe Brady and somebody
25:52else. Oh my God, I'm blanking out. That's still in the playoffs. Whether it's
25:56Matt Nagy or Joe Brady or whoever it may be.
26:00Or Cliff Kingsbury or somebody is going to
26:04magically wait two more weeks. Maybe they do. Dan Quinn was hired in February last year.
26:08That said, if you're a
26:12Jags fan, where's your optimism in saying
26:16they're going to get this right? Because now it's like we just reacted to the fan and media outcry.
26:20That's not a good strategy. Whether I think Trent
26:24Bahlke should have kept his job or not. It's a horrible strategy of a way to run your
26:28team. Now I'm going to overturn it. You're not going to start the interview process over?
26:32What are we doing here? It's two weeks later.
26:36They should have listened to all the coaches
26:40who told them your job's not nearly as attractive.
26:44All the executives who told them your job's not nearly attractive if you keep Trent on board.
26:48You could have maybe landed Ben Johnson. Maybe Ben Johnson
26:52looks at Trevor Lawrence and says, I can fix him.
26:56I see why he was the best quarterback prospect to come out since
27:00I see it and I can do it. But you screwed it all up.
27:04In terms of a landing spot for your first job, Jacksonville,
27:08easy media market. That division's not
27:12very good. You could go in there and all of a sudden, year one, boom, you win the division.
27:16You're king. You've built up this equity already.
27:20Instead, you've totally slubbed the whole thing up,
27:24which is just absolutely remarkable, but yet at the same,
27:28this is what the Jaguars do and Shad Khan does and his son.
27:32They're a mess. I wanted to mention one other thing just on
27:36Patriots front. They officially announced Josh McDaniels as the
27:40OC, which we talked about when we did the emergency pod on Tuesday.
27:44They also, as I kind of been leading you down this road, Terrell Williams
27:48named the defensive coordinator. He, of course, was the Lions run game coordinator
27:52defensive line coach last year under Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn.
27:56That had spent six years as Vrabel's defensive line coach in Tennessee
28:00and eventually became the assistant head coach. Mike actually let him coach
28:04a preseason game as sort of a thank you and respect for
28:08and also to everyone else. This guy should be on your radar
28:12at some point. He's never gotten that kind of buzz, but that's going to be
28:16an interesting marriage between he and Vrabel because I think having Josh
28:20on board allows Vrabel to spend more time on defense
28:24and be more of the CEO type coach and let Josh coach the offense
28:28as Bill used to do. Bill would turn his back on the offense at times
28:32because he knew that Josh had it handled and Tom Brady did
28:36as well. This is a little different, obviously, with Drake May being in his second year, but
28:40you can have trust that this guy has done it for a very long time as an OC.
28:44Their floor is raised a lot. That's all I really have to add there. I just think the Patriots
28:48have done a good job of what I talked about the other day. When we did the Vrabel
28:52reaction pod, a lot of the Patriots fans liked my comment about
28:56they feel like an 8-win team next year. I actually say that
29:00as a big comp. I think that if they win 8 or 9 games, you go from what?
29:04They went 3 this year, 3 then... And then have a freaking parade here. That's how desperate they are.
29:08We have our franchise head coach, our clock down corner,
29:12and we just more than 50% increased our win total.
29:16That's a successful season to me. This staff, to me,
29:20screams, like, I don't know about the ceiling.
29:24I have a couple questions there. Does Nick Caley's ceiling
29:28higher than Josh McDaniel's? Absolutely. But is his floor
29:32a lot worse? He could be Michael Floor.
29:36We don't know. I do like
29:40some of the moves they're making. Again, I believe they brought in the Titans strength and conditioning guy.
29:44I saw that Tony Dews, the running back's coach,
29:48that's who did some good, nice work this year. He was also with the Titans prior.
29:52As long as they keep Keith Carter away from that organization, you'll be fine.
29:56That's the next big hire, quite frankly.
30:00Instability with that offensive line coach. I'll give you just two more nuggets on the
30:04coordinators. One,
30:08Josh McDaniel's is really excited about the prospect of coaching Drake May.
30:12It's an interesting relationship because obviously
30:16does Drake May want to be the best? We don't know that yet.
30:20He's pretty internally driven, but we don't know. Is he going to spend this offseason
30:24looking at the things he did wrong and working to fix them? Josh Allen, every summer,
30:28every offseason goes away, and he works on something and comes back, and it's better.
30:32It's fantastic. Brady used to do that. This is what I couldn't
30:36do, or I didn't do it as well as I want, and he'd work on it. Does Drake do that?
30:40But Josh knows what that looks like because Josh did it
30:44with Tom. He helped Tom
30:48as Tom helped him. I'm just curious. He looks at Drake May
30:52and looks at this moldable clay and says, I think if this guy's got
30:56the internal drive that I can get him to where he's a top five player at the
31:00position. I think that's going to be fascinating to watch. Then on
31:04Williams, real quick, talking to a lot of people in Tennessee,
31:08absolutely love the guy. Jeffrey Simmons basically gives him credit for
31:12developing him into one of the best interior defensive linemen in football, a guy who
31:16completely ruined the Patriots offense in their game this season.
31:20Then there's a quote from Brad Holmes, who actually
31:24they overlapped at North Carolina A&T, which I mentioned the last thing. Holmes
31:28said he's a great teacher. He's a straight shooter. He's really the first coach that
31:32taught me the nuances of achieving what you want to achieve on the field, behind the scenes.
31:36He's the one that used to bring me in and sit me down and watch tape with me all summer and learn
31:40the ins and outs and develop a relationship so that you can build that trust with the coach.
31:44Vrabel talked about this in his opening press conference,
31:48about how he wants his guys to be great teachers and to be great
31:52leaders. Terrell Williams fits that mold. As one guy who
31:56played for him told me, he's the kind of guy that will MF you to your face,
32:00but he also will tell you that he loves you and you believe it.
32:04He knows the names of your kids, knows the names of
32:08your wife, the whole thing. He's involved with his players off the field,
32:12but when it comes time to work, as you mentioned with the Aaron Glenn stuff,
32:16OK, it's time. Put that stuff here
32:20and let's go do what we're supposed to do.
32:24Here, before you do your reading, we're going to do the games. Tony Buscelli,
32:28Jaguars Hall of Famer, is going to be helping lead the search for their next coach.
32:32What does he know about that?
32:36He doesn't. It's just getting worse
32:40the more they talk about it. Jon Spitek, obviously a Brady guy,
32:44announces the Raiders GM. It's probably almost a year late, but
32:48a really nice hire. Pete Carroll looks like the guy that, if I had to be a betting man
32:52right now, that's what I would make, which would be a nice coup for them.
32:56There was one other thing I wanted to mention there. Oh, Bill Belichick, Mike.
33:00Monday night football to start the year against
33:04TCU. Bill finally signed his contract
33:08when the NFL told him to go scratch.
33:12We just covered a lot, but man, that is quite an entrance
33:16against TCU. Yeah, that's going to be fun. Like I said, I'm really looking forward
33:20to what it looks like and see how he can motivate 18, 19,
33:2420-year-olds and see, for someone who likes to
33:28get exotic on you and likes a lot of different points there, how does he
33:32put it down for 18 and 19-year-olds? You want to go to that
33:36North Carolina TCU game? Use game time.
33:40It's a no-brainer. Curated deals
33:44make it easier to find the best price on great seats. The super deal is the best value for that event.
33:48You can see the seat view before you buy the ticket, the actual view, so you know

34:28guaranteed. Let's get to the football games.
34:32Let's start with Philly hosting Washington,
34:36NFC Championship game. My first question to you,
34:40can Jaden Daniels continue to do what Jaden Daniels
34:44has done, which is throw for nearly 600 yards in the two playoff games,
34:48four touchdowns, zero interceptions, rush for, I believe,
34:5286 yards in those two games total, and just has had
34:56an answer for whatever teams have thrown
35:00at him. He played a lot of college football, and I think
35:04you're seeing that experience and the coolness under pressure
35:08shine through, but I think even this is beyond
35:12what you could have expected, even after a terrific rookie season for him to play.
35:16Right now, he's the best. In terms of the four quarterbacks left in the playoffs,
35:20he's the one who's playing the best. Yeah, a couple different stats
35:24ESPN shared this morning that I thought were pretty relevant
35:28and I wanted to bring to the show. QBR
35:32during Washington's last seven game win streak, Dan Orlovsky tweeted this out, make sure you give him credit.
35:36Jaden Daniels' QBR, Mike, is 98.5 out of 100,
35:4071% completion, only taking three sacks.
35:44For other further reference, these teams played in Week 11. Daniels was clearly
35:48injured. They only blitzed 11% of the time, but when they blitzed, his QBR
35:52was 21. He was pretty bad, frankly. Yes. That was the game where
35:56he was a little bit beat up coming into that one. Yeah, it just wasn't pretty.
36:00Week 16, they blitzed him three times his amount. Fangio's like, we're going to light him up 33%.
36:0496 QBR went healthy.
36:08Look, I think this is a house money game for Washington. I think they're going to make
36:12this really close. They're playing so well right now,
36:16and they do some of the things Philly's not great at.
36:20I don't know. He's going to press some of these. He's going to save the pocket.
36:24I don't think you can blitz him the same. I don't think you can rush him the same.
36:28I think he'll make you pay. Dan Quinn over Sirianni is a big
36:32advantage for me. I'm sorry. Dan Quinn
36:36and Joe Witt Jr. versus Kellen Moore is a mismatch.
36:40The Eagles' talent is going to win them this game. It's not going to be coaching.
36:44Cliff Kingsbury versus Fangio, actually a pretty fun matchup.
36:48There's Cliff trying to get the ball out of Jaden's hands quickly. Can Terry McLaurin make
36:52two big catches? That's what he did last week. That's what he does every week. He's not a
36:5610 for 104 in a touchdown. He's like 6
37:00for 150 or 3 for 75 in a touchdown.
37:04They've got to be able to run the football. They have to get off the field on third down.
37:08If I'm Washington and I'm Dan Quinn, I am making
37:12Jalen Hurts make not quick decisions. I am making
37:16him process. You need to get to your second and third reads buddy
37:20because we've seen even teams like the Panthers, we've seen it
37:24across other games too, but that game stands out where it was like
37:28no offense, the Panthers at that point in the season
37:32were playing better football. That said, they are very bad.
37:36He looked awful. I think he's 150 yards
37:40a game, Mike, or something like that in playoff wins. Make him make decisions
37:44and get the ball out of Jaden's hand quickly, quickly, and then you've got to beat him over the top
37:48when you get the opportunity. Yeah, 6 of his last 7 starts.
37:52He is thrown for less than 200 yards, Jalen Hurts.
37:56You were talking about how Fangio defends him.
38:00It's going to be fascinating. Fangio raved about him. He's like, the tape says it's not a rookie.
38:04I know what it says on this thing, but the tape... He is 22 years old.
38:08Quinn Yon Mitchell is a big one here. Left the game
38:12with a collarbone injury against Los Angeles. They had a walkthrough on Wednesday.
38:16I have not seen the practice report for today. Again, we're taping this Thursday afternoon
38:20427 right now. He's an important piece. In Week 11
38:24he locked up Terry McLaurin.
38:28They played a little bit more man. In the Week 16 matchup, McLaurin
38:32got him for a touchdown, but Mitchell's a very good player. He was my, by the way,
38:36Rookie of the Year for the Pro Football Writers. He did not win.
38:40I thought he had a terrific year.
38:44Again, that doesn't have the counting stats. I knew that first was probably going to win.
38:48That's because people are lazy and they didn't look deeper into it.
38:52That's my shot on people, period.
38:56Sam Cosme. Here's another one. We talk about injuries. Sam Cosme,
39:00Washington's best offensive lineman. Tore up the knee. He's out for the rest of the
39:04postseason. Now Jalen Carter.
39:08Carter's still the better player. Carter was the best defensive player on Philadelphia's
39:12team. One of the best defensive players in the league, but Cosme did a decent job on him
39:16or at least slowed him down some. Without him in the lineup,
39:20does Carter just straight up eat in this game? How does Vic Fangio
39:24move him around? He probably should. I'm sure there will be doubles
39:28in this process, but Jalen Carter has the potential to be
39:32a game wrecker, the best offensive lineman for the other guys
39:36who lined up across from him quite a bit is not going to be out there.
39:40Again, this is going to be a trench game.
39:44I think the Rams gave you a good blueprint in just some
39:48ways to beat this team. The offensive line,
39:52Washington does not have the same kind of edge rushers
39:56that the Rams do. Braden Fisk
40:00had every shot to win, by the way, Rookie of the Year. He went out early in that
40:04game and they started to run the football. Washington's got to get themselves out of
40:08the one spot where Chris Shuler made a couple mistakes. It was only a few,
40:12but he did make a few. Saquon one-on-one with a safety
40:1610 yards deep is not going to cut it. You've got to make sure Frankie Louvu and
40:20Bobby Wagner are playing really well with their eyes.
40:24I don't want to say eat blocks because I think that
40:28in turn makes me feel like that's not a smart decision either, but
40:32maybe not be as overly aggressive.
40:36It sounds stupid, Mike, and I would never say this in any other game
40:40versus another team. Kind of make Kellen Moore run the ball 12 times
40:44in a drive and almost get the slow death if that's what it takes.
40:48It keeps your offense fresh and maybe your defense gets worn down by the end of the game.
40:52I don't think Kellen Moore is going to stick to the run for 12 straight plays.
40:56I don't know that I'm selling out
41:00run blitzing as much as I can against Saquon who is
41:04very much, whether you run blitz him or not, he's negative 2, negative 2,
41:084, 2, 2, 2, 98. That's who he's always been when he was amazing
41:12with the Giants, when he's been great with the Eagles. I'd almost
41:16call his buff and be like, dude, this is what happened.
41:20The Commanders did a great, great job of this last week against Detroit. They were like,
41:24Ben Johnson, I'm going to ask you to not do something stupid
41:28for 60 minutes. Dude, run a basic
41:32offense. I bet you can't because it's what makes you great, but it's also what kills you.
41:36You want to take Saquon out, but if you make them
41:40one-dimensional in either way, you've already won. I'd much
41:44rather them be one-dimensional passing. If I'm Dan Quinn, Joey Jr.,
41:48can we copy some of the Detroit tape of what we did to them? Jameer Gibbs,
41:52Saquon Barkley, probably the two scariest guys to defend in the league. I'm on a run.
41:56Chase Williams are great players. A.J. Brown and Devontae Smith, great players.
42:00I don't know. Mike, I don't know.
42:04Look, they traded for Marcus Lattimore and sat him for a good long time
42:08for him to get healthy. Obviously, his leg's under him a little now. Yeah, a little bit better.
42:12Mikey Sandler still is playing great, the rookie out of Michigan who
42:16loved him coming out. He's playing that way. Do they
42:20trust those guys on the outside at times? We're not going to put
42:24you out there on an island by yourself all the time, but you know what, Lattimore,
42:28A.J. Brown's a bit of a hothead. You want to talk to him like you talk to Mike Evans
42:32and maybe whatever. You get him off his game a little bit. Obviously, we know that
42:36they've struggled to get him the damn ball.
42:40I'm really curious to see how they defend them because I think
42:44you look at it simply and you say, look, load up on Barkley
42:48and say, Jalen Hurts, you haven't beaten anybody with your
42:52arm for pretty much two months. Can you do it on a bad
42:56knee, by the way? A lot of people feel like he has a sprained MCL. Again, in the walkthrough, he was
43:00a participant, but they went walkthrough for a reason on Wednesday.
43:04I think it's going to be... Philly's the better team. Philly has
43:08the best talent left of the Final Four,
43:12but I don't love the way the quarterback's playing.
43:16He's either going to have to find a different level, a higher level than he's been playing at, or they're going to
43:20have to lift him up, as they've been doing, whether it be through the defense
43:24and Barkley, to get it done. The next one is
43:28the rematch. We get this pretty much every year in the playoffs now. Bill's
43:32at the Chiefs for the AFC title game. Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes,
43:36they're 4-4 against each other in their eight starts. The problem with that is
43:40Allen wins in the regular season and Mahomes and the
43:44Chiefs have won in the postseason. We know the 13-second game, which stole
43:48a victory from Allen and probably stole a Super Bowl from the Bills, but the Bills
43:52going in there... This isn't the best
43:56talented... This isn't the most talented Bills team, but I feel like this
44:00is the deepest team and a team that has
44:04a bit more of an identity, especially on offense, where it's not all
44:08about Josh. I feel like
44:12if they can run the ball as effectively as they have for a better
44:16part of the season, particularly in the postseason where they've had their two best rushing performances
44:20in terms of success rate all year, then they have the chance
44:24to finally do this and slay the dragon and stop the three-peat.
44:28There's going to have to be a lot of things to go into this. I think some ball control,
44:32I think Josh continuing to make the right decisions.
44:36I don't know if you saw the clip from him, Will. He was asked
44:40on Wednesday, if you remember the play down by the goal line where he was
44:44pitching it and then he got twisted up and he looked like he was going to pitch it
44:48and he didn't, but it was clear that it was on his mind
44:52and he was asked about it and he smiled. He's like, no, I wasn't thinking that.
44:56But then he was pushed and he's like, it crossed my mind. He's like, but that was
45:00the old Josh, the new Josh, the one with the good angel on his shoulder versus the devil.
45:04I chose the good angel and I didn't do it. He's had that kind of year
45:08where he has made better decisions than most. In fact,
45:12probably in terms of making the best decisions from start to finish this year at the quarterback
45:16position, it's probably been him. Can he keep doing that against his Kansas City
45:20defense? This is who doesn't beat themselves.
45:24Neither team has done it this playoffs thus far. Buffalo, obviously, twice
45:28and Kansas City last week. Quick nugget on that, by the way,
45:32the two quarterbacks have turned the ball over since their Week 11 matchup. There has been
45:36one turnover between the two guys and that was Josh Allen's arm punt
45:40against the Patriots in the finale. Not the arm punt.
45:44I just think it's who doesn't meet themselves
45:48and I said this last pod and I'll say this again
45:52just as a disclaimer. I am praying we don't talk about the refs.
45:56I can't do it, Mike. It's so tiring.
46:00They're right. Everyone's right. I complain about it all the time, but I just
46:04don't want to talk about it. I don't want to hear Nick Wright defend the Chiefs. I don't want to hear
46:08the Patriots fan complain about the Chiefs. I just don't. I can't do it.
46:12This should be a great game. Two great quarterbacks. I hope.
46:16Last week it felt like the Ravens-Bills game
46:20there was a few calls, but they got overshadowed, thank God,
46:24by Mark Andrews and other things. By the way, before I even
46:28was curious. I didn't prep you on this one. Curious your thoughts on
46:32donating to a guy's charity who choked the game away on the other team. A little demeaning.
46:36It's interesting because it's sort of been...
46:40The Bills Mafia has sort of jumped in and done this
46:44a few times, and they've had people do it for them as well.
46:48Look, Mark Andrews did not want to be
46:52in that position. I guess it's cool that people are putting...
46:56Whether you want to call it demeaning or not, the fact that people are willing to put money
47:00into his charity. He's going through it. He just posted, I don't know
47:04if you saw it, he posted on Instagram sort of like... Because he didn't speak after the game.
47:08He didn't speak on the breakup day on Monday, which
47:12is kind of frowned upon. That's not supposed to be the case. Cam Newton had a mental
47:16breakdown today about it. Oh, really? Oh, yeah. He said it's just like Fox
47:20News and how no one holds anyone accountable these days.
47:24Oh, I wonder where that's coming from, Cam. Did you maybe not speak after Super Bowl in which you had one
47:28of the softest plays we've ever seen? That's so weird. Why would you ever be upset
47:32about that? He doesn't belong on television. He's just not very good.
47:36Anyway, Mark was very... Like, look,
47:40I feel like I let everybody down. It's a dark place. I don't want to talk to anybody.
47:44Yeah, which you understand. There was a lot riding on that. I think Baltimore felt
47:48like they were the best team in the National Football League. Yep.
47:52Don't even get a chance to play in overtime there and get the game
47:56on. When we look at this game, and we talked
48:00about this quite a bit going into the last one, Joe Tooney playing left tackle.
48:04And Joe Tooney had his struggles at left tackle against Houston
48:08Will Anderson. It appears that Joe Tooney is going to play left tackle
48:12again. And we
48:16kind of talked about it a little bit, but he's so good at left guard and Creed Humphrey
48:20at center and Smith at right guard
48:24that have they taken what was a strength
48:28and made it into a weakness to cover up another weakness? Or have they
48:32downgraded a strength to cover up a weakness? And is that making
48:36them maybe not as good as they should be? Maybe you're better off just saying,
48:40hey, we're going to stick whoever it is, DJ Humphrey's out there at left tackle, and we're going to chip
48:44and we're going to double. But we're going to have the three guys that we have in the
48:48middle that we were able to run the ball behind effectively quite a bit
48:52and they haven't been able to run the ball effectively for quite a bit now.
48:56Is that the right move?
49:00Yeah.
49:04Kansas City is going to be really interesting in this game, in my opinion, Mike,
49:08because it's like you mentioned the devil
49:12on Josh Allen's shoulder at times versus the angel and stuff like that. I almost
49:16the devil versus the angel of the Chiefs are
49:20better when they run the football a ton and they punch
49:24you in the mouth. And then Mahomes on third down just is amazing.
49:28Very Patriots-esque, especially at the end where it was like kind of dink and dunk
49:32and get yourself in third and four and everyone in defense is like, oh,
49:36third and four, that's awesome. And then it's like Brady's like, cool, I'll take six yards every time.
49:40Mahomes is like, oh, it's third and 12, dude. I'm going to run around. I'm going to flop. But I'm going to
49:44somehow hit some guy that nobody can see on the television screen for a 40-yard gain. And I'm not
49:48sure why no one's covering Travis Kelsey. The Bills
49:52ended the run much better on Sunday night. They still got
49:56gashed on a couple of drives. And the Chiefs need one of those. They need one of those drives.
50:00They had them last year in Baltimore. They had one drive where it was like punch you in the mouth, punch you
50:04in the mouth, Kelsey, punch you in the mouth, Kelsey, punch you. That's what they did. Right down
50:08the field, Kelsey turned back the clock. They put himself, the Gronk, take him out of
50:12the garage for three or four weeks. That wins them this
50:16football game. Do not turn the football over. Eliminate the
50:20bad holding penalty that's going to happen from John Taylor or Joe Thune. We're going to get
50:24one. Or they go offsides and everyone gets mad.
50:28And if you're Buffalo, I don't know, I kind of almost
50:32very similar to almost the opposite of Philly.
50:36I'm almost like make the devil
50:40in them run the football too. I don't know.
50:44Buffalo is decent enough right now against the run that I take
50:48chances challenging Patrick Mahomes to just turn back and hand it off.
50:52I don't know if that means sitting in zone. I don't know if that means some overload blitzes
50:56specifically off of those tackles.
51:00Try to keep your rush lanes. Can Vaughn Miller give you, does he have one or two
51:04plays in his bag? Can he get something out of
51:08Ed Oliver inside and can he beat somebody once or twice and just keep you honest,
51:12keep Mahomes honest? Got to hit him early. Mike, we saw in that Super Bowl, we've seen when they've
51:16lost very few times. Very similar to Brady.
51:20Any good quarterback, you got to hit these guys early. For Buffalo,
51:24on offense, I don't think it matters quite as much. Josh is like a battering ram.
51:28I don't actually think he weirdly likes getting hit.
51:32I almost think Josh is the opposite. It's almost like let him get a little really confident early and maybe he makes
51:36a mistake getting a little too ballsy, very farvish, where it's like
51:40please just give us one. And Josh hasn't done it to his
51:44credit. The one thing I'm curious, Mike, is
51:48kicking, as always in these games with the Bills especially.
51:52And McDermott is a good coach. He's a damn good coach.
51:56We talked about Todd Bowles. I know probably not quite as successful as
52:00McDermott, but very similar. Very good regular season, gets you to the playoffs.
52:04Great defensive mind.
52:08All that said, does he curl up
52:12a little bit? Got really tight last week in the second half. The Bills
52:16are up. I don't know. Let's play the scenario. They're up 17-10
52:20halfway through the third. They score a big touchdown and go up 17-10.
52:24Does he put it in second gear instead of fourth and say,
52:28ooh, we're going to try to drain this game out? I hope he doesn't, but that's my one worry
52:32I guess from Buffalo. That and Bass kicking, it's really a crapshoot
52:36with him in the playoffs. And Bucker, I know he's got the knee, but you trust him at home.
52:40Those are two things we just don't talk about that I think are crucial here.
52:44I would hope McDermott, after seeing Patrick Mahomes
52:48up close and personal for eight different matchups, would realize that if you're up 17-10
52:52you can't take the air out of the ball. You've still got to let your quarterback go make
52:56plays. He's helped get you here. He's really been
53:00the driving force behind what's gotten you there, and I wouldn't want to take the ball out of his hands.
53:04Certainly looking forward to that one. We've got to do prize picks.
53:08I lined them up. I went deep. I got five
53:12of them for you. And of course, one is the Jaden Daniels more than the
53:16half-yard passing. So you can combine these any way you want. You can do the
53:20five and aim high, or you can piece mail them together.
53:24I've got Saquon Barkley more than a half a touchdown,
53:28and that can be, they have the, the prize picks has it with both
53:32rushing and receiving, so you get the benefit there.
53:36I've got James Cook more than 57 and a half rushing yards. I think they're going to lean on him a little
53:40bit in this game, and obviously try to keep the ball
53:44out of Patrick's hands. I've got Josh Allen with more than a half rushing touchdown. I think
53:48they get down inside the two or three yard line and he's just going to bulldoze.
53:52And then I have Jaden Daniels. He's been awesome. This number seems
53:56low to me. 223 and a half yards passing. I'm going to take more
54:00on 223 and a half because I just, if they're going to
54:04win, he's going to have to have a big day, both with the arm and the legs.
54:08So I'm going to go Jaden Daniels. Obviously
54:12we talked about the passing yards one for him.
54:16I'm going to go Jalen Hurts on under, lower, I apologize, on his passing
54:20yards. I've talked about it, weirdly, for whatever reason with him.
54:24The yards kind of have never been like, he never is a massive
54:28yards guy, but in the playoffs for them to win, like he
54:32just simply does not throw for more than like
54:36130 yards. He's at 179.
54:40They've never won a, he's averaging one, he needs
54:44179 to get to 300 for the playoffs.
54:48So I'm going to go less than for Jalen Hurts. I just think they win this game. It's because
54:52of Saquon and those guys. They have another advance.
54:56Travis Kelsey Moore receiving yards, 70
55:00and a half. Do I think Travis Kelsey is like a tenth of the player he was even
55:04like 24 months ago? No, but these games he just like pops up
55:08and it's like, how are you still doing this? Why are you so open?
55:12You look like you're in cement, but he still figures it out. So those
55:16two, I'm going to give you a third one here, Mike, that's a bit
55:20of a weird one. Not weird.
55:24Amari Cooper more than 16 and a half receiving yards. There's no
55:28way, I said this when they traded for him by the way, that he was not going to work because
55:32for whatever reason the games get tight and he gets a little
55:36tight for him. You're telling me he can't catch
55:40two passes for 20 yards? Come on. And he showed up in their first meeting
55:44like that. I just, I don't,
55:4819 and a half is, it's a dummy line. I know it's going to end up being
55:52less, but I just feel like I have to go with it. That's not
55:56fair. Yeah. Shakir was the only receiver who went nuts in their
56:00first meeting, but Cooper had a couple of big catches in that game. All right.
56:04That's going to wrap it up. Enjoy the weekend. Enjoy the football.
56:08Next time we come from you, come at you. We're going to be coming from the Senior Bowl in
56:12Mobile. Might be an actual in-person
56:16pod or he might be in his hotel room and I might be in mine. You never know how
56:20that's going to work, but we're looking forward to that. Enjoy the games. Remember
56:24to like, listen, subscribe, rate, review, do all those wonderful things here
56:28for the All32Pod. We'll see you again next week.
