00:00The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is working on recovering misappropriated 1MDB
00:07assets in Kuwait, Hong Kong, the UK and several more European countries.
00:13MACC said it is working with its international partners to actively pursue the recovery of
00:18these assets, and that efforts will be further intensified for the benefit of Malaysia and
00:24the people.
00:25The Anti-Graf Agency said the US$20 million in 1MDB funds recently recovered, in collaboration
00:32with the US Department of Justice, was related to a solar energy project in Malaysia.
00:38MACC said businessman Frank White Jr. from investment firm Disabled Capital Management
00:43LLC was unaware of the source of the funds and had voluntarily agreed to surrender the
00:49monies to the DOJ.
00:51Prior to this, the MACC recovered and returned RM29.73 billion in 1MDB assets and funds to
00:59the Treasury.
01:001MDB was a sovereign fund set up in 2009 with the help of financier Low-Take Joe or Joe
01:06Low and co-founded by former Prime Minister Najib Razak to promote economic development.
01:12The DOJ had discovered that some US$4.5 billion of the funds were diverted to offshore bank
01:19accounts and shell companies, of which many were linked to Low.
