At the midpoint of the 2024–2025 season, Liverpool FC stands as the Premier League frontrunner, showcasing a blend of tactical innovation and consistent performance under new manager Arne Slot.
The team’s dynamic full-backs have been pivotal, contributing significantly to both offensive plays and defensive solidity. However, depth concerns have emerged, with key players like Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah logging extensive minutes due to limited rotation options.

00:00Liverpool's midway point this season has been pretty flawless so far, has it been off the
00:12pitch as well?
00:13The fans have taken so well to him. If you compare it to 12 months ago, there was a bit
00:18of a strange time for them. Obviously, Jürgen Klopp had announced he was leaving and maybe
00:24Liverpool fans didn't really know what to expect from Schlott's reign. As we are halfway
00:29through the season, just look back at his start. It's been pretty flawless, both domestically
00:35and in Europe as well.
00:36Certainly in Europe it's been flawless because they've won six games, they're into the semi-finals
00:42of the Carabao Cup and the Premier League. Who would have thought that they would be
00:47six points clear? Let's stress that, through all the disappointment there was after the
00:52Man United draw, they still moved six points clear of Arsenal and with a game in hand.
00:57I think if Liverpool were joint top, second, third within two points of the leaders, then
01:03a lot of people would have been happy to be honest. No one was quite sure how it would
01:08transpire after Arnold Schlotter's haul from Jürgen Klopp and there was so much made about
01:13whether he'd be able to fill the voids, whether he was a good enough head coach. He certainly
01:18answered those doubts. He's lost one game in 2024 at finals and Liverpool, he's still
01:30playing it down, he still thinks it's a long way to go and Liverpool fans aren't getting
01:33carried away because of a blip, there could be injuries. I think it's gone better than
01:41anyone would have expected. I think even the hierarchy at Liverpool probably weren't expecting
01:47it to be this good. They've probably been helped a little bit along the way, maybe Man
01:50City have had their fault, Arsenal have had a couple of injuries now to Sacher and Odegaard.
01:59These things happen across the course of a season. It's not like Liverpool have been
02:05stuttering themselves. They've lost one game and that was against Nottingham Forest who
02:10themselves are in a very good outfit and are pushing for Europe this season. I don't
02:17think it's quite as easy to say that just because Man City are having a woeful season
02:21that Liverpool are flying. They're certainly taking advantage and the precedence is set
02:29now. They've got to go on and win the league. If they didn't go on and win the league then
02:34it would be a capitulation, let's be honest. I think a lot of fans take the league and
02:39maybe one of the trophies in the semifinals of the Carabao Cup. Obviously performing well
02:44in the Champions League but it'll be a different ball game when the knockout stage starts and
02:50then the FA Cup as well. It could depend on how mood you draw after having to get past
02:56Atherton Stanley.
