Dubai chocolate - what is it and what does it taste like?

00:00Today I want to talk to you about the viral sensation that is Dubai chocolate.

00:07Now you might have heard of it if you're a follower of social media, TikTok in

00:13particular, or you might not have done but I guarantee that you're about to see

00:17way more of it because the likes of Lint and some supermarket chains like

00:22Morrisons and Lidl are bringing out their own version. So what is it? Well

00:27it's chocolate with pistachio cream and something called, now let me get this

00:33right, I'm sorry if I don't pronounce it right,

00:35knaffa, knaffa, which is typically Arabic but it's a spun pastry dough that

00:44they put with the pistachio cream and that's a filling for some thick milk

00:48chocolate. When I heard that the likes of Lidl and Morrisons were doing their own

00:55I went in search of it but I couldn't find any so I asked Father Christmas for

00:59some and this is what he got me. Now this is from I believe a Manchester

01:05chocolatier called Coco Cabana and it's all very sparkly and very posh so this

01:12one I believe is about £16 for that block so I'm not suggesting that

01:19it's all that dear, this was a particular special one for Christmas but let's see

01:24what it's like. What is typical from looking online is

01:30that this kind of Dubai chocolate is associated with very thick chocolate and

01:36this very dense luscious filling. Now it's a green colour which you might not

01:43necessarily associate with sweet treats and chocolates but that's pistachio and

01:48I believe that it's pistachio cream and it's got these kind of like very

01:53fine spun noodles essentially that are mixed in with it and when you bite in

02:00it's kind of reminiscent of a KitKat in a way, the kind of like the moist

02:07filling in a KitKat, it's got a crunchy and quite a mild nutty flavour, it's

02:13not overpowering at all and with the milk chocolate it is lovely, it's very

02:19very very rich and you wouldn't want too much in one go but do you know what I

02:27think it's completely worth the hype and I can't wait for this to be spread

02:30around in more mainstream shops.
