00:00Last week I reported that Poulton-based spirit manufacturer Luchellas, they produce this
00:13chocolate and rum spirit drink, they were experiencing a sales surge in the run-up to
00:18Christmas and they've responded with new packaging, bigger bottles and they're getting all the
00:24You can't see there, probably, but the Great Two Star Great Taste Awards and also, really
00:30impressively it has been named as the best chocolate liqueur drink in the world, not
00:36to come over all Jeremy Clarkson, but the world. So, being cheeky, I asked whether they
00:42would send me a sample and they have done. So I'm going to taste it neat and tell you
00:47what I think, but also, because it's so much Christmas, they've sent a recipe card with
00:53some festive cocktails. Now, I'm going to try this one, which is Rudolph Champagne Royale,
01:01which has got orange juice, triple sec, prosecco and of course, this. So, I'm going to take
01:09you through making that and tell you what that's like. Okay, so I've poured myself a
01:14little showy glass of this liqueur neat and it says, it's a sumptuous symphony of rich
01:22warming rum and heavenly indulgent chocolate suitable for vegans. And also, I can see on
01:28the back of this recipe card, it says suitable for people with gluten intolerances, lactose
01:34intolerance, celiacs, dairy, vegetarian, vegan, so there's no excuses there. Right, so that's
01:42the colour of it, very warm amber glow to that. It does smell of chocolate, it smells,
01:52it's not a very overwhelming smell, but I hate to say it, but it's a little bit reminiscent
01:57of Baileys or is that because I'm thinking it's going to taste like Baileys? Well, let's
02:06see. Okay, so first of all, really smooth, really, really smooth and very, very drinkable.
02:13It's not got a harsh alcohol taste at all. Rich, yes, caramelly notes. I wouldn't say
02:22it's overwhelmingly chocolatey, but also it's not, it doesn't hit you that it's really,
02:31really rummy either. Yeah, just a really easy, mellow, rich, soothing, sweet, very,
02:46very drinkable and pleasant little tip of that. So let's see what it tastes like in
02:53combination with these orange flavours for this Christmas Rudolph Royale. Right, so I'm
03:00going to follow the ingredients. What I'm not going to do is do the garnish where you've
03:04got to basically do a bruleed clementine wheel. We're not going to do that. I have got a dehydrated
03:13orange though that I'm going to stick on for a bit of fanciness, but all right, so it says
03:16Lucella's 25 ml. Again, unsurprisingly, I don't have measuring, shot measuring measures,
03:28so I'm just going to guess that that's 25 ml. I've found a little decorative shot glass,
03:33so I'm going to put that into my fancy glass. That might be more than what you're meant
03:39to do, but come on, who's actually measuring this properly at home? And then we've got
03:44the triple sec. Now, I did find some triple sec in the cupboard and I need 12.5 millilitres
03:51of that. So again, that's half of the Lucella's. Okay, and then it's 50 ml of orange juice. Very
04:02difficult to do this with one hand. And then you get the Prosecco. There we go. Got to top
04:12off with Prosecco. So I'm just topping it all off with some Prosecco there. It's like a fancy
04:23Bucks fizz, which I happen to really like. And yes, very festive. I would have a Bucks fizz on
04:28Christmas Day, but it's got that deeper tone of the chocolate in it that I can taste. It's just
04:40got more body is what I can say. It's like a Bucks fizz with soul. That's the best description
04:50I can give you. But yeah, I would say this would make a fantastic, I know that they've gifted it
04:57to me, but it would make a fantastic gift. I'm not just saying that. It tastes along the lines
05:04of Bailey's, although I don't believe that Bailey's is actually chocolate. It's Irish cream,
05:08isn't it? But if that's your kind of thing, then you won't go wrong with that. That's lovely. It's
05:14not too overpowering. It's wonderfully smooth and rich and a real treat.
