00:00The teaser trailer for the Netflix documentary about the Cowboys dropped yesterday.
00:21I mean, I know you were heavily involved in it and everything, but how much work did this
00:25take?
00:26Did you get a chance to see the teaser?
00:27Are you excited?
00:28Are you dreading seeing this where yet?
00:31Yeah, I've got a chance to see the teaser and it's going to be shown this weekend on
00:37the, uh, the, uh, Christmas showing that Netflix, uh, showing our NFL games and, uh, uh, but
00:45I can't say it was, uh, the producer's choice of what to use and how to say it relative
00:52to what's in that teaser.
00:55But, um, that's, uh, uh, quite an extensive work.
00:58We've been working on the actual documentary for going on two years.
01:04And so, uh, there's, there's, uh, probably a couple more years worth of work to do on
01:09it.
01:10You know, Jerry, the, the title of it says the gambler and his Cowboys.
01:14And I was kind of curious on the entirety of your career with the Cowboys.
01:19How much of a gambler were you before versus how much are you now and how different your
01:24gambling is at this point?
01:26Well, uh, taking gambling, uh, uh, hail Mary's at one might've been an appropriate thing
01:34to talk about.
01:35Uh, but the, but, but the real world is that, uh, uh, you're dealing with a pretty fluid
01:43world and football and no matter how, how you calculate it, no matter how it adds up,
01:49uh, one in one is not two, it's three.
01:53And when you get that ambiguity in between that one and one is three rather than two,
01:58there's a lot that happens.
02:00And a lot that happens, uh, uh, let's just take injury.
02:04Let's take availability.
02:05Let's take a, and then the talent, uh, level at, uh, what you might have expected as opposed
02:11to what it is one way or the other, up or down, Michael Barson, for instance, up or
02:17down, nobody saw that coming.
02:19So having said that in a positive way, I'm talking about, uh, nobody said that, but there's
02:25enough ambiguity that if you don't add an element and then can act with some serious
02:32ambiguity, tolerance, friend, good is a phrase I use a lot.
02:37If you can't act and, and, uh, be farm and, and, um, uh, basically make a big decision
02:45and beauty involved.
02:46Uh, you're not in the right world.
02:48I used to say, uh, my prior time in oil and gas prepared me for the NFL because I could
02:56be talking on a phone at that time, a normal phone back there with my left hand and hearing
03:04the news that I just hit a dry hole enough to absolutely ruin your day or week or month.
03:11And at the same time, put that one on hold and talk to someone else about doing a new
03:18prospect and getting very financially well off with that prospect.
03:23Now you got to take the news in your left ear that's negative and without your voice
03:28breaking, get over on the right one and talk positive and talk about the future and how
03:32well it's going to be.
03:33So that prepared me well for the NFL.
