00:00You could get the one that played against the Warriors in the finals.
00:02Man, he was giving Draymond the business in that final, Stiney.
00:06He was great.
00:08Siakam right now, 30 years old, averaging 19, averaging 20 a game, 20 and 6.
00:17He can pass a little bit.
00:19He takes four threes a game.
00:20He's shooting 41% from three-point range.
00:23So the numbers really look good.
00:2620 points, 6 and 1⁄2 rebounds a game, and 3.6 assists.
00:32He's averaged as many as 5 and 1⁄2 assists a game.
00:35So he's not a bad name, but let me go to the bottom of his basketball reference
00:40page, and that's what you've got to talk about is you've got to be willing
00:45to pay Siakam $42, $45, $48, and $52 million.
00:51So you would have to match that salary with the players going out.
00:56And do you want him as the face of the franchise?
00:58Because when you say that, good God, Stiney, he would be the face
01:01when Curry were to leave.
01:03Yeah, that's a good question.
01:05Is he good?
01:06Then is he what you want?
01:09This is from our good friend Dublin Marge.
01:13Dublin Marge says, no Warriors trades mid-season,
01:17with an exclamation point.
01:19We have a deep connected roster.
01:21Curt will figure out the rotations.
01:23The grass is not always greener.
01:25We have the right squad.
01:27That's Dublin Marge.
01:30She could be right.
01:32I mean, the one thing that you do have to measure, and I do believe it.
01:36I know every team says it, but I don't believe every team has it, is chemistry.
01:41And I actually do think the Warriors have really, really good chemistry this year.
01:46Now, chemistry alone won't get you an NBA title, or even necessarily a deep run
01:50into the postseason.
01:52But you have to kind of inject that into your thought process.
01:59If you think this team's got good chemistry,
02:02then you think that this team could grow over the course of the season.
02:08And what are the goals, Stiney?
02:09Because you talked to me going into this season.
02:12You said, Goo, I think I'm paraphrasing.
02:15What would constitute a good season for this Warrior team, as is,
02:19would be a playoff, not playing, a playoffs.
02:22Have you changed or come down from that?
02:24Because that's where I'm at.
02:26But I know that's not going to suffice Steph Curry's appetite.
02:29Well, Steph needs to understand that we might not
02:32be able to suppress his appetite.
02:34That we might go make moves, but that doesn't necessarily
02:38mean we're going to jump up in the standings.
02:41Again, I get the West is a bear, but it works two ways.
02:46It works two ways.
02:47The Warriors right now are 14-9.
02:49And yeah, there's teams behind them, but they're also two games out
02:53of the second seed right now.
02:55Just two games from number two.
02:56See, I looked at it as being out one game back,
03:00but two games from being at the top.
03:02Yeah, the other thing I was thinking about
03:04was one of the greatest trades the Warriors ever pulled off
03:08was when they got Barron Davis back in 2005.
03:13And they were able to get Barron Davis because his reputation
03:20had been tarnished a little bit.
03:23And he was a real good player early in his career.
03:26Then he had some injury issues.
03:28Then there were a lot of people out there in the league
03:32that thought he was a diva.
03:36And acquiring a player like Barron Davis was risky.
03:40But the Warriors went ahead and did it.
03:43And they reaped the benefits from it.
03:45Now, the difference is that those Warrior teams
03:48hadn't won in a long, long time.
03:50And the Warriors were operating from a position of desperation.
03:54I don't think they're in a position of desperation
03:57right now, which means, in theory, they wouldn't have to take
04:01or they don't feel the need to take as big of a chance
04:05as that was going to get a player like Barron Davis.
04:09So let's say, and I've made no secret about it,
04:15the guy I'd be kicking the tires on in a big way
04:17is Zion Williamson.
04:19But he comes with risks, big, big risks.
04:23But if you're desperate, maybe you take that chance.
04:27If you're not desperate, then you don't have to make that move.
04:33I feel like back in the day, Chris Mullin
04:35felt like he had to make a move like that because the team was
04:39just not very, very good.
04:43And they needed a star.
04:44And he was the only star available,
04:46even though he had some warts.
04:48And I'll say this to that.
04:50I think if you're trying, the goal is to be a problem
04:54or win an NBA championship, Stiney, they're desperate.
04:57They are desperate to go find that ingredient
05:00or what player players they can get
05:03to put them in a different stratosphere
05:05than I think they are now.
05:06I like this team now.
05:08But I know when push came to shove,
05:11if this were the team in the off, I'd have to see it.
05:13I'd be rooting for it.
05:15I don't think this is it because there's
05:17no bona fide number two dude.
05:20But Stiney, I love me some Zion.
05:23But I would be lying if I told you right now
05:26his Carfax thing is scary.
05:29You don't do that.
05:31But if it worked, oh my gosh.
05:33But Stiney, how many guys like Zion?
05:36Steph might be the only one in a long time
05:39that actually beat the ailments of the body.
05:42And to be this young and have it go out,
05:45his transmission went out in the playoffs
05:48in a game that they were getting,
05:49a series they were getting ready to wrap up
05:52at home against the Lakers.
05:54Do you really want those problems?
05:56Because I just don't think his body
05:59is going to betray him.
06:01Yeah, it might.
06:03It might.
06:04And Curry beat his body.
06:07He's one of the few guys that beat his ailments.
06:11I mean, you know, Embiid's another one.
06:15If you want to go get Embiid,
06:17first of all, it's going to cost you an arm and a leg,
06:19but then you got to, it's like two things.
06:21It kind of reminds me of IU.
06:22The first thing you got to do is trade for him
06:24and give something up.
06:26And then that team has to pay him too.
06:28But that means, that's why they made the trade.
06:31And then you need him to play.
06:32Then you need him to play.
06:35So, 888-957-9570 is the number.
06:39We're batting around some warrior ideas.
06:42And again, they're 14 and nine right now.
06:45They sit in number five position
06:47in the Western Conference.
06:48They play the Rockets tonight.
06:50And the trade discussion season
06:54is absolutely positively on right now.
06:57Let's go to Dell in Virginia.
07:00What's up, Dell in Virginia?
07:01How you doing?
07:03Hey, how you doing, Stiney?
07:04Doing well, man.
07:05Hey, hey.
07:07Hey, yeah, I just wanted to say,
07:10you know, Jonathan Kaminga,
07:12he's, you just never know.
07:15He's almost just like Andrew Wiggins, man.
07:16You never know what you're going to get
07:18from the guys, you know, on a night-to-night basis, man.
07:21I know, I feel like the Warriors,
07:23they know that's why the trade discussions
07:25are at an all-time high right now.
07:28Because, like, they know they need a number two.
07:31They need a number two 20-a-night guy.
07:34Right.
07:35When they get down the stretch,
07:37they know that they need that number two guy
07:39that's gonna, when they get to the playoff time,
07:41that they can rely on.
07:42And Jonathan Kaminga, you just never know
07:45what you're gonna get from him, man.
07:47He just, he just, and then when,
07:49if you notice when Jonathan Kaminga
07:52goes up against better teams,
07:54like, that are in the top five,
07:57he tends to, you know, kind of disappear.
08:00And, you know, I just feel like the trade,
08:03I would probably, like I said,
08:04like, everybody's been talking about Dennis Schroeder,
08:08Cam Johnson, and I think the other name was Vucevic.
08:12Right.
08:13I would just try to, I would just try to go ahead
08:15and get Vucevic and Cam Johnson.
08:18You get those two pieces, you know,
08:20you know, you're working around the edges,
08:22you know, they're not, you know,
08:25Jimmy Butler and LeBron,
08:26but I feel like you got the team
08:28that can win with those two guys.
08:29Yeah.
08:30And Adele, I think, and thanks for the call,
08:32I think you bring up a good point.
08:35All we've heard is the Warriors are looking for a big fish,
08:38but maybe a tinker around the edges
08:40can bump this team up higher in the standings
08:43and give them a real shot.
08:44I think all these things
08:45are what Mike Dunleavy is definitely thinking about.
08:49You know, the other thing is if you're gonna,
08:50if you're entertaining moving Jonathan Kaminga,
08:54you know, I think there's a threshold
08:57that the player coming in has gotta be at.
09:00And when I look at, let's say, Cam Johnson
09:05or even Vucevic, are they a good enough player
09:08to get in here to change the Warriors' trajectory
09:13and be worth giving up Jonathan Kaminga?
09:16That's what they gotta, that's what they gotta decide.
09:19Yeah, I like both players,
09:20but just me going back to my past weekend, Stoney,
09:23being at the game Friday,
09:27you tell me if this makes basketball sense,
09:28and it may be basketball simple,
09:31but the bottom line is we always talk about
09:34Curry's timeline and Kaminga being ready for it.
09:37But there's no doubt that when he was empowered
09:41to be number one or two option,
09:44Jonathan Kaminga, and there was no Steph and Dre,
09:47Stoney, he is that player.
09:49Like, but that's not his reality.
09:52So when you ask him to be a compliment
09:56to Dre and Steph and just the team,
09:58I think it's more difficult for him
10:01than when he's driving to the arena
10:03knowing I'm a one or two, and we saw what it looked like.
10:07It's his greatest game of his career.
10:10So it goes two ways in regard to,
10:12are you ready to be the guy that you can be for Curry now?
10:16That answer to me is no, and then no harm, no foul.
10:20And then on the flip side,
10:21Jonathan Kaminga could probably be an all-star
10:24in this league or average 23 to 25 points a game.
10:27No problem, Stoney, if he were a number one
10:30or one A option on a team.
10:32You know what's funny is we throw around all-star a lot
10:36and there was a player that we talked about,
10:40Pascal Siakam.
10:42I love him.
10:43You know how many times he's been an all-star?
10:47Once. Okay.
10:48One time.
10:49Yeah, I love, Williams one time, yeah.
10:50But what I'm getting at is that's a one-time all-star,
10:54Pascal Siakam, and I'll bet you if you asked Warrior fans,
10:5890% of them would say,
11:00oh, if Kaminga could be Siakam, that would be perfect.
11:05And I'm just telling you,
11:06well, Siakam isn't a perennial all-star either.
