00:00Shaqir completed, this is behind Cooper who brought it in, pitched it back to Allen, who's gonna go for one, and he did it!
00:09Oh no! Spectacular touchdown!
00:16Oh my goodness! It is showtime at Buffalo!
00:23Now, back to Stiney and Guru, on 95.7 The Game.
00:27Mike Tirico, Chris Collinsworth, NBC Sports.
00:32Great play.
00:33Josh Allen gets a touchdown pass and a touchdown run.
00:36How did he get both?
00:38Because he threw a pass and then he ended up scoring.
00:43He didn't throw it to himself.
00:45No, he threw it to Amari Cooper and Amari pitched it.
00:49How else would you score? I don't know. I thought it was strange too.
00:54He didn't get both for that one play. That was a reception.
00:59They were saying it was the first time he did two and one.
01:03I think he gets a pass and a reception. Maybe I misunderstood Tirico and Collinsworth.
01:09No, I understood it like Stiney, where he got the two-for-one. I'm like, everybody was going crazy. That's one of the first times it's happened.
01:15Because he threw it to himself.
01:17Well, what would happen in a game if you throw a ball, it gets tipped, it comes back to the quarterback, and he runs it into the end zone?
01:22Now that I understand.
01:23Marcus Mariota did that in a playoff game.
01:25Yeah, exactly. They mentioned him as the last player to do it.
01:28Anyway, I don't know.
01:30Gray had that play on both.
01:32Made it 28-3.
01:34Pretty much ended that. 8-8-8, 9-5-7, 9-5-7-0 is the number.
01:40Niners, they lose 35-10. Christian McCaffrey gets hurt again.
01:45And the Buffalo Bills just ran over the Niners.
01:49They threw it when they needed to.
01:51And they bent, but they didn't break.
01:53It was every single thing we've seen all year.
01:56Yep.
01:5749ers get down in the red zone, they miss two field goals.
02:00Bills get into the red zone, they score touchdowns.
02:03And now all of a sudden you're down 21-3 at half.
02:06And what can you do?
02:09Yeah.
02:10What do you do if you're the Niners right now?
02:12Figure out how and why you are dependent on field goals and why the biggest rat on the table this whole season has been Stiney.
02:19I don't have the answer.
02:20Why are you not being able to cash in more times than not?
02:24And I guess that's where I'm at when people say, you know, let's just cash this season in or let's just get ready for next year.
02:34The implication that I hear is, well, we'll be fine next year.
02:40Why would you just assume you're going to score in the red zone next year?
02:45What if I'm just going here and this is why this injury to McCaffrey throws this off, but I'm going to throw it at you.
02:50What if last year they led the league in red zone efficiency?
02:54Well, that's last year.
02:55The team's different.
02:56No doubt.
02:57And now it's very different because we don't know if McCaffrey will ever be the same.
03:01This is Shanahan.
03:04We're not as good of a team as those past teams.
03:06So that's kind of how I look at it.
03:08We're not the same team at all.
03:11Every team each year is different.
03:13But I'm not going to say that this team is the same as last year's team.
03:16We're just not fighting as hard.
03:17We've got a bunch of different guys out there.
03:19We've been trying to find our way since the beginning.
03:21Haven't quite found that yet.
03:23There's still a lot of season left and we expect to play better.
03:26But I'm not going to say that our team does not fight.
03:30Yeah, Stiney.
03:32I don't get it.
03:33And I'm looking at Jordan Mason's line.
03:35Let me just start.
03:37What don't you get after 12 games?
03:41No, it's the 12 games I don't get.
03:44It's coming into this season.
03:46I would have bet my life that that trend with this talent that they had coming into this year,
03:51that they would never be able to rectify it 12 games in.
03:55That's what I don't get.
03:57I don't know what's going on.
04:00This team has stunk this year.
04:02They've stunk.
04:03I'm not arguing that.
04:05If they've stunk this year, why would you possibly bring back the same team
04:10and just expect a different result?
04:12Because we talk about the whole insanity is doing the same thing over and over.
04:18You brought back the team lost in the Super Bowl.
04:21You bring back essentially the same team.
04:23You pay your three guys.
04:25How do all three of those contracts look at this point?
04:30Now you're going to come back.
04:34I guess if it's all you can do, then fine.
04:38Bring it back.
04:39You've paid some of these guys.
04:40They're coming back.
04:42Are they?
04:43Well, George Kittle is.
04:44Is IUK coming back?
04:46Yeah.
04:47I mean, where's he going?
04:49Who would take IUK right now?
04:51Well, not right now.
04:53That looks like a bad contract right now.
04:55I don't believe McCaffrey, Debo, Samuel, Kittle, IUK, and Jennings
05:01will all be back.
05:02No, I believe Debo is on the first thing smoking out of here,
05:04not because he wants to be.
05:06All right.
05:07But if you just want to talk about a microcosm of the season,
05:11I mean, Debo, it used to be his league, right, and his skill set
05:15and everything he could do.
05:16And every time they used him on kickoff or punts, it was important.
05:20But I was always like, man, he's going to get hurt.
05:22The fact that Kyle Shanahan, the last couple of games, weeks,
05:26had him back there, it's like that's the only way we can get him
05:29the ball to be effective.
05:31That right there in itself is a signal telling you, Stoney,
05:35I feel like they're just like, hey, if he gets hurt, he gets hurt,
05:38but what happened to him?
05:41And he might tell us something else,
05:43but I just don't understand these 12 games that you mentioned
05:47as to why they're so porous in the red zone.
05:50And then last night you're in the red zone.
05:52Hey, I'm not going to nitpick here.
05:55Your boy Uschak fumbled the ball.
05:57Everybody's like, well, why did he even get it?
05:59But for George Kittle to only have two targets,
06:02like why wouldn't he feature at all down there?
06:06And I didn't see that happen, and I don't think it's a Purdy issue.
06:11I don't think it's a Kittle issue, Stoney.
06:13I think it's going back to the play caller.
06:16This is George Kittle.
06:19I did.
06:22I did not.
06:26No, I do not have an explanation.
06:28I think I ran like six more outs the rest of the day.
06:31It could be a combination of that, but no, no idea.
06:37Oh, goodness gracious, no.
06:39No, I didn't feel that.
06:40I felt pretty open multiple times.
06:42It is what it is.
06:43Now, how does that hit to you, Stoney?
06:46I'll tell you how it hits me.
06:48How you think and we're different, but that's George Kittle saying something,
06:52and I need somebody to help us decipher who that was to because I was open.
06:58First of all, every receiver thinks he's open all the time.
07:02Secondly, what's the one thing they did well last night?
07:08Run the ball.
07:09Right, and he blocked probably for a lot of those runs.
07:12So I'm not saying he shouldn't get the ball more,
07:14or shouldn't get targeted more.
07:16He only had two.
07:17Brock Purdy couldn't throw.
07:19He didn't throw for 100 yards, but we're going to throw down feet.
07:22That's what I'm talking about.
07:25The only thing you can do is run the football.
07:28You can't throw it anymore.
07:30I don't know why.
07:31Well, he had 18 pass attempts.
07:33That's okay.
07:35He's not good in the weather.
07:40He was terrible, Brock Purdy.
07:42No doubt.
07:43But you could still, of the 18 attempts,
07:4611 of them could go to the guy that could catch better than anybody else.
07:50That's all I'm saying.
07:52The guy who can catch better than anybody else is Jennings,
07:54and he got the ball enough.
07:57I mean, I don't know what to tell you.
08:00They got problems is what I'm telling you.
08:02We've done this all year, and it's like I'm –
08:08Debo doesn't get the ball one game.
08:10Why not?
08:11We've got to get it to Debo.
08:12Kittle gets a lot.
08:13Well, we've got to get the ball to this guy.
08:15Every single game, there's been two guys who don't do anything,
08:19and then we've got to figure out who to blame.
08:21Ricky Pearsall hasn't caught a pass in three weeks.
08:24Whose fault is that?
08:26Well, maybe it's Kyle's because he's not targeting Pearsall.
08:29Well, we want him to target Kittle too, and we've got to get the ball to Debo.
08:32And when McCaffrey plays, he's got to touch it 20 times.
08:35And let's not forget about Jordan Maitland.
08:37Maybe they have too many weapons.
08:38Maybe they have too many weapons.
08:41Well, that's a good thing.
08:43That's a good problem to have, Stony, because when you've got too many weapons,
08:46as long as you're effective, you're getting the job done.
08:49I'm not sure, but I'm not sure about that.
08:51Ricky Pearsall's a baby.
08:53He's an infant in this league compared to Kittle, right?
08:56Kittle's proven.
08:57So if Kittle's saying he's open and he's not getting the ball,
09:01and then on the flip side, Pearsall has been a ghost for three games,
09:05this is why I would just like to ask Kyle,
09:08it's got to be you, or it's got to be Purdy.
09:12Or it could be a combo.
09:13But it's not working, Stony.
09:15And I give you the dub on Guru.
09:18We've seen this 12 weeks.
09:20But good God, that means I'm not shocked.
09:27Kittle's saying he was open and didn't get the ball.
09:30And now Pearsall, one, if you just didn't watch the game,
09:33and you look at the box score the last couple of weeks, you're like,
09:36this dude, what did they draft him for?
09:38Or is it a combo thing of Kyle is having a bad year, scheming it up?
09:45Okay.
09:46Then again, if he's having a bad year, scheming it up,
09:48and you bring back the same players next year,
09:51what makes you think everybody's just going to turn it around?
09:55I don't.
09:56Okay, well, I don't either.
09:57I don't either.
09:58And that's why I'm not saying, well, let's just shelve everybody
10:02and just get them back next year and they'll be fine.
10:05I don't believe that for a second.
10:07That first drive, I'm just telling you and Evan and the listeners, Donnie,
10:11I was on the sofa like they're running the ball better than they ever have.
10:15Now, granted, it might have been because the field was so messy.
10:19The D-line for Buffalo was at a disadvantage, both D-lines.
10:22But all the people that kept telling me Christian McCaffrey,
10:25last time I saw you, did have a burst.
10:27Before he got hurt, there was a burst.
10:30Oh, you know why there was a burst?
10:31Because there were holes.
10:33And for him to average, what, 7.6 yards a pop, Mason 6.8, 6.0, Stiney,
10:40and you still get out of Buffalo with 10 points?
10:43There's a disconnect.
10:45You can't.
10:46Kyle Juszczyk fumbled at the goal line.
10:49So you're going in to maybe make it 21-10, maybe.
10:53He fumbles and they take the ball back to the 50.
10:56That's Kyle Juszczyk.
10:57That's your fullback.
10:59That is part of Kyle Shanahan's magic, right?
11:05He plays a fullback.
11:06Not everybody plays a fullback, but he does.
11:09And two, three years ago, well, it was smarter than everybody else.
11:14Now, it's not.
11:16So, I don't know what you do.
11:18And defensively, they couldn't stop a nosebleed.
11:21I mean, a safety is the last line of defense, Stiney.
11:26And he was taking the Anthony Old Raider dorset angles.
11:29Like, you can't just do that and allow Cook to hit.
11:34But bring everybody back and maybe next year he makes that play.
11:39Well, I'm with you, but Stiney, the reality of saying all you guys are out,
11:44there's not a hockey line change.
11:46They got some.
11:48This thing may take a couple years.
11:50And the rat on the table is the quarterback.
11:54That is the rat on the table.
11:58Josh Allen threw the ball.
12:00And then last week, I'm just asking.
12:03I was the guy saying give them $60 million.
12:06I know.
12:07You weren't the only one.
12:09Jed York said he was resetting the market.
12:11I appreciate that.
12:12Why he said that, I don't know.
