00:00I think Joe Lacob before he would say hey Andrew what is going on he would say
00:07to Mike Dunleavy get him out of here. Like that's what I mean like about feel
00:13like it's Joe Lacob's team. From whom priest? From whom? Ten days ago we were
00:21the number one seed. Sportsman. Well anybody who looked at the schedule knew
00:26that this was gonna be tough. It's bigger than the schedule. They're beating
00:30theirselves. They got no bucket getters. No Adrian
00:34Dantley's. No McAdoo's to wear. Okay hey one game you might not have it. The other
00:40game I'm gonna get Carmelo Anthony would get a bucket. Marcus Johnson Sidney
00:45Moncrieff would get you a bucket. You ain't gotta be super duper stars but you
00:49had a repertoire arsenal. But you know what I mean. There's no Hall of Famers
00:54out there to get. These you know. I have two. Well you're right. One and a half.
01:02Looney? I've never heard Evan make that. Even on this Saturday. I mean man
01:11everybody gets in. I mean Looney's been a steward for the Golden State Warriors.
01:17No you're kidding right? Just please say you're kidding. Just say it. I love Looney man.
01:23He was talking about Curry and Draymond. I'm having some fun. But if he got in. Who got in? Looney. Oh my god.
01:32If he got in what? That's my guy I ride with Looney. I wouldn't be shocked. Everybody gets in.
01:36You wouldn't be shocked? I'm having fun. They may as well burn the thing down if Looney gets in.
01:41Come on. Loon dog. I'm having some fun. I don't think you are. It's almost two. Stop. Put him in the
01:51Hall of Fame. He guarded Harden seven years ago. Let's talk. Let's see what the chef has to say.
01:57Yeah. See if he takes any responsibility for this. What happened out there tonight Steph?
02:03I mean their chemistry and cohesion. They don't ever get rattled which is why it hurts to have
02:10had the game won a couple times in the fourth and just couldn't maintain momentum. And I mean
02:16obviously against them. It happened a couple times last year too. It is a tough one to swallow
02:21because we play well enough even with our kind of draft spells and boneheaded turnovers. We
02:27still had enough you know to have a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter and lose. Yeah. Like
02:35Stani I think a lot of your I'm gonna call it commentary and you're not by yourself. They look
02:41at this warrior and the ages of the team and how they're currently constructed like they just get
02:45beat over the head and ran off the floor. It's more frustrating when you have closers like Curry
02:52and the likes of Dre who were in the last this five-game losing streak. That's when they these
02:57losses hurt more is because like last night man there was 36 assists. They were it was a it was
03:04pretty ass basketball. You're guarding. You're getting you know you're out rebounding them by 10
03:11and I'm just sitting there when it's all said and done like you didn't have to lose that game but
03:17it's becoming clear they don't have enough guys that I believe can just go get a bucket.
03:25The question is is it the system maybe? Oh now it's the system. I'm asking. It's the system. You
03:30gotta dumb it down. You know how much time? Let's get Shanahan in here to coach this team. Well
03:35he might be in Chicago. Um I'm just I'm just thinking out loud man. It's not okay. First of
03:43all I must vehemently disagree with you that you would rather lose by 30 than that game last night
03:50because I think what we fail to understand is that you can you can do a lot right and still lose a
03:58game. Right. All day. But that's better than losing a game when you do less right. But if you keep
04:04doing it then it's more frustrating. In the NBA if you can put together 42-44 minutes you're more
04:11likely to put together 48 minutes as opposed to a team that gets run out of town in the second
04:18half of a game because they only played a half a basketball. Like you can hear like and people
04:23might not like it but pods we did a lot of great things. We did a lot of great things. We play that
04:29same first 43 minutes and then we clean up the last five. Guess what? You'll beat Houston. You'll
04:35beat Houston tomorrow. Who's the second seed in the in the west 15 and 7. But I'm saying you play
04:4342 minutes like you did last night and then you clean up the final six you will beat Houston.
04:49This is an interesting one that I haven't heard yet from Steph talking about what the team may
04:55need to do. We've had some dry spells at the end of first quarter started second and same in third
05:01and fourth and we wanted to just change that when you lose you got to experiment. You got to try
05:06different things. I've done it years past when the you know the opportunity presents itself I'll say
05:12and I think we obviously I got I'll figure out my rhythm I gotta make more shots and you know
05:18be able to put the ball in the basket more consistently but I think the offense that we
05:22created the energy we play with it didn't I adjust it really well to it so who knows how long it'll
05:28last but we're trying to get out of this hole any way we can and you know you got to play a little
05:33desperate try desperate things at this point. I like what he said. That's what they did they
05:38played Kaminga down the stretch that's how desperate they were. He's searching for a rhythm.
05:43He said he found it. No I thought he said he was searching for it. No I thought he said he
05:47felt like the rhythm was okay. Oh well he may have I thought he said he was searching
05:51individually he was searching for his rhythm and that would explain you know 23 points per game
05:57but Stony I still like what I see from the chef in regard to behind now if he was at 18 behind
06:03arc like pods or GP then I'd be like you're on to something well I but this is just that's a
06:10collective and I would look at it differently. The three-point shooting is going to be the last
06:15thing that goes for Steph Curry. He has not he is absolutely positively not penetrated like he has
06:25in years past. He's got two knees that are barking. He's 36 again yeah we got to quit thinking that
06:32Steph is the same player he was five years ago. Well a couple of times last night he went to the
06:37rec he got knocked down and he's eight for 23 and made one three in the see that that's the other
06:44thing is like look man you just no I can look at every great player as they age they still have
06:52great moments it just doesn't happen as frequently you know I mean would it be cavalier to say I'll
07:00tell you what Steph Curry from two years ago they win that game well that's unfair
07:07I guess but I don't believe that I do believe it I absolutely believe it the way that game
07:12played out last night he had three shots at the end and I again it's it's not Steph being the
07:19problem it's that he's not going to be able to raise his level of play as frequently as he has
07:27over the course of his career so how do you make up for it yeah what's plan b a guy Wiggins and
07:33again I'm coming down Wiggins road because I'm mad at him sports mad for only shooting seven
07:37times in a game like that and especially when your team has lost four in a row you should have had
07:4217 to 20 field goal attempts but I get it Stoney if you want somebody Westbrook in his prime he's
07:48not that guy and he'll never be but he's becoming a problem now because the limelight now he's
07:54becoming a problem because the spotlight and the knees and the age of Curry is getting older
07:59is getting later that those things used to be cute before when Steph could be never cute
08:072022 half of 2022 I mean you want a guy to get 17 shots a game
08:16and tell Andrew Wiggins to hit the pike because that's not who he is he's not he what he's passive
08:24well we know he's passive but how come he didn't shoot in the fourth quarter well that's the
08:28definition of passive he's not the same player night in and night out you're listening to 95.7
08:35the game kgmz fm and hd1 san francisco always live on the free odyssey app twitch and youtube
08:41powered by first norcal credit union uh let's go to ej ej's in oakland what's up ej hey how's it
08:52going man hey few things that i see on the court um it seems like i mean i don't it doesn't seem
08:59like steph is the issue for me uh it seems like he's working really hard he's not getting the
09:04looks that we're used to him seeing uh we're used to seeing him with um the office has changed
09:10drastically so um say for instance like with moody and cominga i'm not a fan of theirs man moody uh
09:17and cominga it seems like on their closeouts they're they hedge so hard that you know they
09:21get beat off the drive off the uh drive quite often and that's a huge issue for our defense
09:27man those guys can't stop if we can't stop the first initial job drive it puts the whole the
09:33whole uh defense and i have to tell tailspin and they're they're constantly trying to catch up uh
09:39point of attack defense is horrible is one of my main points yeah um they're lost on defense like
09:45cominga is constantly lost on defense oh no don't talk about that all right i was doing my
09:53jim barnett oh no no let's not talk about that but you're right it gets lost sometimes yeah he
10:00gets lost quite often quite often man not sometimes it's quite often and he gets beat off the dribble
10:06so i don't understand for the fans who say that uh he's he's great he's such great offense and
10:11great defense he gets beat off the dribble quite often and then the the main time that i see him
10:17where he's able to break is when he gets that screen up top but any anytime as far as a
10:22solo solo taking an individual or a solo he doesn't do very well i don't i haven't seen him
10:28do very well consistently and beat people off the dribble maybe maybe once when he's coming
10:33off that top end screen he'll be able to beat some guys but sometimes he's not really beating
10:37them then either um but i mean most of the people around i think we have a mediocre offense man we
10:44have a very mediocre subpar offense and that's what's killing us we usually get get really you
10:50know get a ton of points up uh in the beginning of the first two quarters and uh that's that's
10:55actually drastically changed for us so you know those things are the some of the things that i've
11:00seen good stuff ej appreciate the call and i'll tell you what's donnie uh we talked about his
11:05on-ball defense i like it i'm not saying kaminga is a perfect player but there were junctures in
11:10that game and every game that we watch and you've given kaminga props for this stony when hit that
11:15post that mid-range is working and he comes down and just rises like an angel on a on the hardwood
11:22and the ball just hits nothing but net i'm like that's a bad like yeah you got both the shots in
11:28the last three minutes block i don't know why he went in on yokich but he's panicking this is money
11:34time you should have thought about that and and what do you make real quick on the murray
11:40that was a great play but what could kaminga have done different besides have a pair of eyes in the
11:45back of his head go up and dunk it he didn't even get i thought he was had a dunk on the fly
11:52i go you gotta be i was like oh you know and i do what i uh who was the last guy who called
11:57ej yeah i do agree with this here's what i think about kaminga
12:02oh defensively all right i think there's a big difference between when you tell kaminga hey go
12:09guard uh somebody and you know what kind of shadow him you know when we like kamek is pretty good
12:17when he's picking up somebody full court i've seen him do lebron yeah but he is luca infinitely worse
12:23when he's in the half court you throw it to his man and now he's coming out to guard you i i got
12:31you can he's not a good defender i got you so well he's got the gifts to be one but i don't
12:36know that he does great defenders have to think about the game all the time and what they got to
12:43do and i i don't think defense has ever been the highest priority for kaminga and
12:50you know for the life of me the one thing and and if you want to come down the organization's road
12:58come down the organization's road if you want to come down to kaminga's come down kaminga's
13:03why for the life of me they couldn't just tell him worry about two things go rebound
13:12forget getting out on the break for now let's see if you can get a rebound or go for a rebound
13:19and if you don't get it can you beat somebody down the court because i've never seen him do that
13:26now you've been covering this team stony for almost three deck don't you gotta believe that
13:30had to be said at some juncture yes i would think so i think jonathan kaminga if he rebounded and
13:37defended better we would never be having this con because then when kaminga didn't have his
13:44offense going he could be like you know he still got eight rebounds in 28 minutes and uh you know
13:48what he did a nice job on luca um turned him into a little bit of a volume guy luca was four for 12
13:54when he was playing and you know what well then guess what he just helped you you hit me in the
13:59cardiac with that because i know coach and vallejo has fun accusing me of being a pod stand i'm
14:04nobody's stand but the bottom line is what you just said and and i line all the people up that
14:10feel like there's a correlation pastor brown with pods opportunity and and and moody and coming in
14:17the bottom line is they were playing on championship teams that to me puts it to rest but at the end of
14:22the day exhibit a on why pods is on the floor stony there's no basketball world he should be
14:28having more rebounds than jonathan kaminga and he did that all last year just there's not dna
14:37there's no reason there's no answer well there is pods goes after rebounds right but i'm just
14:44saying i'm not saying you're wrong go play but that's not what comingo wants to do and that's
14:51not so for the people that call or call me and think i'm that matters the warriors would like
14:58cominga to do more dirty work hello and he never has for the most part seldom i know people like
15:06like cominger probably hating what i'm saying right they got three dirty work got well they
15:10got a bunch by the way um dray i heard this i heard this during the broadcast last night
15:15and i didn't necessarily agree with it statement was made better because i live with them i love
15:23i love these people at one point my family we need at one point he said
15:29you know the warriors can get anything they want on the inside and then there was no and then they
15:35said boy the warriors are missing a lot of bunnies inside it's like do you know who he like
15:43they've got a tree trunk of a seven footer planted under the basket all right and i will go with
15:52evan on this one jokic is not a bad defensive player oh my gosh he's not at all a bad defensive
15:59player but you have jokic gordon and michael porter jr trees man it's like it's not the
16:08easiest team in the world to finish against right and then let's get to the heart of it okay
16:14give me the top three warriors finishers cominga one okay curry two okay and three would be
16:23finisher uh wiggins and that's it and curry for the most part this year has not
16:31been playing that finishing game no doubt about it so
16:37i don't know i don't know what to tell you is it i believe and i'm hoping like warrior fans
16:42is something as simple as is is rest celebrity working his magic study when you're 36 and you
16:49the arm is barking as a pitcher you sit down or you're on the shelf for a little minute and
16:54they'll come back but he did go to the cup again i'm not saying he deserves mvp but he went to the
16:59cup again last night it was good to see stony finished and you heard the curry and you heard
17:03the splat no foul but he was on the ground let's listen to a little more steve kerr on um his team
17:10trying to get he didn't like the highlight real stuff kerr was fired up last night he was hot
17:17uh i think what happened was you know i looked at the stat sheet four minutes left in the second
17:21quarter we had 18 assists and one turnover we might have had one more for a shot clock violation
17:26but only one miscue because we were hitting singles and then we turned it over three or
17:32four times in the last few minutes of the first half and gave up a 12 point lead because we tried
17:37to hit home runs and um this league is unforgiving if you think you're gonna you know get on a
17:44highlight reel you know show everybody you know what what a special play you can make um it's
17:51gonna be a turnover we gotta hit singles we gotta make simple decisions you know and and when we do
17:57that we're really good but when we try too hard try to make plays on our own um we get into trouble
18:03and that's why we ended up with 15 turnovers in a game where we had one through 20 minutes of the
18:09game so i didn't feel like they were forced um by the defense either no no offense to denver
18:15but i'm gonna look at those turnovers and i might see one or two but almost all of them are unforced
18:21and so you know part of being a good team is decision making it can't just be about talent
18:27or whether you make shots or not it's got to be about decision making we have to become a better
18:31decision making team you know that's what's frustrating right now is poor decisions are
18:36leading to poor possessions which is leading to this losing streak so that's what's happening
18:43and i guess my question to steve kerr would be do you think this team
18:48can dramatically improve their decision making
