00:00Pelicans never made a move, they never made a run.
00:04After the Warriors took control in the third quarter, game was never in doubt, never even
00:08got halfway dicey, they were in total control.
00:14They beat the Pelicans last night, 104-89, Kaminga really good, Pods was really good,
00:20didn't shoot it great, but filling up the box score with a bunch of stuff, assists,
00:26rebounds.
00:27You know, I look at this team and who helped them win on Tuesday?
00:32Lindy Waters.
00:33How'd he play last night?
00:34He couldn't make a shot, he was 1-for-5.
00:37No biggie, no biggie.
00:39When you play 12 guys, chances are 4 or 5 are going to play well.
00:43No doubt about it.
00:44And if you have 4 or 5 guys who are playing well, then those are the guys who Kerr's probably
00:49going to go with.
00:50Guru, how dare you?
00:52Congratulate the Dodgers.
00:53Don't you know where you broadcast from?
00:56Stand down, soldier.
00:58No, I'm a soldier, but I'm going to say this, I put respect on all champions' names.
01:01You know, I don't have that mechanism to where I hate like that.
01:05That's not really true.
01:06That's why being a Cowboy fan, I have love for the Niners because I'm from the Bay.
01:09Yeah, but you don't respect McCarthy even though he won it all.
01:11He's not a team, he's a coach.
01:13Yeah, but that was years ago.
01:17I wouldn't take him over Kyle.
01:19Well, right now matters.
01:21The Dodgers World Series, does it make the Mickey Mouse ring go away?
01:29Yes, it does.
01:31Did you see Willard's tweet?
01:32Sorry, I was disappointed.
01:33I did not see Mark Willard's tweet.
01:34We know Willard's down bad, but he goes, congratulations, and I was like, that's my guy, Willard,
01:39congratulate him.
01:40I bet he stuck it to him though at some point.
01:41To the Dodgers' first World Series championship since eight.
01:45Come on, Willard.
01:46So he didn't count the bubble.
01:47Come on.
01:48Hey, Aaron Boone, wake up, go to the mound, send the call, how can you just let Cole?
02:02I mean, beat me 8-1 and it's a wrap, but us being up 5-0, and then we go, New York Times,
02:09they put the end with threes for three years, might somebody get a raise?
02:15That's pretty good.
02:16That is a New York Times?
02:17Well, what's the one that does the post?
02:20Yeah.
02:21This sucker.
02:22All right.
02:23Let's get it going.
02:24Let's get it going.
02:25Who's going to jumpstart the show?
02:26Let's go, Will and Marin.
02:27Uh-oh.
02:28What's going on, Will and Marin?
02:29Get us going.
02:30Hey, there.
02:31Hey, guys.
02:32Hey.
02:33So my sense of it is that the advantage is that we've got a bunch of underpaid and underestimated
02:44guys on the team.
02:46If you look at how late Trace Jackson Davis was drafted, how late Pudonski was drafted,
02:51and then you look at the salaries, everybody's underpaid.
02:54The second Jordan Poole is overpaid, it leads to trouble.
02:57It leads to dissent, and every single guy has been underestimated.
03:02Kyle Anderson, underestimated.
03:04Wiggins, underestimated.
03:05And the only one who's, I mean, even Draymond took a little less money.
03:09I think that's a big part of why the attitudes, why it feels so good right now.
03:15I said, you know, when you overpay people, that's why I'm so glad that they didn't give
03:19J.K. the salary at the beginning of the year, because he's still a guy who's making seven
03:23million a year.
03:24But they're all underpaid, and there's something about that that I think is so central to why
03:30things are so good so far.
03:31Yeah.
03:32I'm wondering what you guys think of that.
03:33Yeah.
03:34Go ahead, Scott.
03:35Yeah, I think that's a fair point.
03:36I'm looking at the salaries right now, and they've got three guys who are making a lot
03:39of money.
03:40Curry, 55.
03:41Wiggins, 26.
03:42Green, 24.
03:44All those are reasonable.
03:46And then this is, I think, what the caller's talking about.
03:50Melton, 13.
03:51Payton, 9.
03:52Heald, 9.
03:53Anderson, 9.
03:54Looney, 8.
03:55Kuminga, 7.5.
03:56Moody, 5.8.
03:57Pods, 3.5.
03:58Lindy Waters, 2.
03:59Trace Jackson-Davis, 2.
04:00So I think there might be something to that, too.
04:01I'm going to say this to that, because I like the call, and I agree with it, Stony.
04:13And I can already hear your rebuttal to this, but that's how it ended up, and right now
04:19it's working.
04:20It's a beautiful thing, but I can't ignore the tea leaves.
04:23And the tea leaves are, they tried to call Utah.
04:26They tried to call the Clippers, and I bring that up because this roster could have been
04:31blown up, and they would have chose to go that route, would you have been able to make
04:36that phone call that he just made.
04:38So the bottom line is, Steph Curry said in the offseason that healthy ego thing was real,
04:44just said it not too long ago.
04:46And obviously, egos come into play when you got status, clay hat status.
04:51But a lot of these guys, you know, are meshing together.
04:54Curry looks like he's just free, is all outdoors, like he's at a Woodstock concert, Stony.
05:00And I like that for him, and it's early, but man, Draymond Green, I cannot ignore what
05:07I saw from you with the Kings game in preseason, and now it's not what he's doing on the court
05:12because he's a four-time champ.
05:14And he said his body hurt after dealing with Zion for eight quarters.
05:18I love that.
05:19I'm sure.
05:20Because he was playing his ass off.
05:21But also, he had a moment, I don't know if you saw it, Stony, with Moody.
05:26He got foul called on him, Dray.
05:28He didn't blame Moody, but I guess he was telling Moody he could have did something
05:31different.
05:32So he was talking to him.
05:33Then after the first free throw went up, he went over and dapped him.
05:36I'm like, Dray, that's all I'm talking about.
05:37I don't know what was said, but it was leadership.
05:40And then for him to say and call himself out, that's all.
05:44I love Draymond Green, 20-24, 20-25, Stony.
05:47Yeah, I mean, look, I don't know if this can continue.
05:53I don't know if Draymond's going to continue to be a good soldier.
05:56But the reality of the situation is, through five games, and that's the only sample size
06:01we have, this team looks like it's together.
06:05And this team looks like it's really forming an identity pretty quickly.
06:11And you got to like what you see.
06:12I mean, you just do.
06:14And you were talking about marketing and Paul George, and the first thing that came into
06:19my head was, sometimes the best trades you make are the ones that you don't make.
06:23That's real.
06:24And we have first-hand proof of that with Klay Thompson for Kevin Love, the trade that
06:30never happened, and the Warriors went on to win titles.
06:35So who knows?
06:36I mean, they made that trade years back.
06:39Maybe they'll make changes.
06:40You might have one ring or none.
06:41Maybe.
06:42I don't know.
06:43Let's go to Mr. D in San Francisco.
06:47What's going on, Mr. D?
06:48How you doing, man?
06:49Hey, guys.
06:50How you doing, man?
06:51Just wanted to talk about this Go to State Warriors thing.
06:57Listen, guys, I'm happy like everybody else.
07:00I love this team.
07:02However, we got to keep in mind that they're winning right now.
07:07And the real test is going to come when they have a two or three game losing streak.
07:11No doubt.
07:12And we'll see what everybody is doing then.
07:14Wow.
07:15They're singing Kumbaya now.
07:17No doubt.
07:18But they're winning now.
07:19Right.
07:20No, that's a great point.
07:23Yeah, and I think we may find that out how they handle that in the next five games.
07:27I mean, it's going to be tough to win three of those games.
07:29So I'm with you, Mr. D.
07:32But you can do what you can do.
07:33You got to let it play out.
07:35And no matter what world or craft you're in or field you're in, Stiney, the old adage
07:41in life, you want to get off to a good start no matter what you're doing.
07:45Yeah.
07:46And that's what they've done.
07:47But I will say this to his point.
07:48I thought you were going to throw something at me earlier in the green room.
07:50You didn't.
07:51You're in a good mood.
07:52I think you respect where I'm coming from when I say I would just like to see Wiggins
07:59and Curry and Melton.
08:01So we could really.
08:02We will.
08:03But you know.
08:04It's an 82 game season.
08:05They'll play on the road trip.
08:06Yeah.
08:07See, like Buddy Hill's the leading scorer right now and I know that's not going to hold
08:10down.
08:11He's averaging more than Curry?
08:12Yeah, right.
08:1321.
08:14Because Curry probably only played half that game.
08:15I just, like to the caller's point, I just want, the quicker they come back, the quicker
08:19we can really assemble roles.
08:23Here's my question to you.
08:24I got to.
08:25I got to.
08:26I got to like a fun bet with my buddy Jay.
08:29And he said, you know, who I'll probably talk about this all year.
08:33Who's going to be better this year, essentially Buddy Hill or Klay Thompson.
08:38Buddy for the Warriors and Klay for the Mavericks.
08:41Go ahead.
08:42It's going to go a 15 round bout.
08:43I think I'm behind right now.
08:45Yeah.
08:46I have Klay.
08:47Yeah.
08:48I mean, once he played five games, he had one really bad shooting night, but that's
08:52it.
08:53But you're not worried about Klay because he's had some, he's been a plus for Dallas.
08:56I think they're happy with him.
08:58Obviously, he can shoot a little better, but I'll tell you what, he's letting them fly
09:02in Dallas.
09:03I'll tell you who lets them fly.
09:05The pods.
09:06The pods.
09:0718 percent.
09:08Let's see if that went up.
09:09But that little, that little, I need a nickname for him.
09:14He's like a.
09:15He reminds me of a left-handed Nash.
09:18Nash was more polished offensively, but he's like a top.
09:21He's like a spinning top.
09:23You know what I mean?
09:24Those things you'd spin around, like a little whirling, he's like a little Tasmanian devil.
09:28That's what he is.
09:29Hey, he took a hard fall almost at the end of the game.
09:32You saw that.
09:33I didn't see that.
09:34He was on the ground a little while.
09:35Uh-oh.
09:36He fell on his shoulder.
09:37I don't know what he had to say.
09:38He was young.
09:39Hey, 925 saying negative Nancy.
09:42Gotta be talking about you.
09:43No, the caller.
09:44Oh, the caller.
09:45Yeah, the caller said just, he was kind of asking us to say.
09:48Oh, the caller.
09:49Yeah, the caller.
09:50I got you.
09:51I like what I see now.
09:52You have to.
09:53By the way, Buddy Hield is leading the league with 24 total makes, shooting 49.5 percent
09:57from three.
09:58Good Lord, Buddy.
09:59Buddy Buckets.
10:00Oh my God.
10:01I can shoot.
10:02Dude, he can.
10:03Look at you.
10:04He's got a quick trigger.
10:05And we had him on the show.
10:07We did.
10:08Yeah.
10:09He sent the energy of his own team in here.
10:11That's when it kind of started for me, because he walked in.
10:13He had a big smile on his face.
10:15He was.
10:16I like the energy in this room.
10:19He must have caught us at a good time.
10:20No doubt.
10:21I don't want to bring the party down, but.
10:23Come on, Goo.
10:24Yeah.
10:25I got to just come at you and Evan.
10:26I remember what I was mad at you about the funeral day I was out.
10:30You guys describe my bets as being sucker bets.
10:34Oh, I didn't want it to come out to church.
10:38Is that how you look at.
10:39Come on, man.
10:40By the way, when are you paying me for that Cowboys loss?
10:44I will.
10:45I will.
10:46Tomorrow.
10:47OK.
10:48Yeah.
10:49Right.
10:50I mean, putting 19 and a half points on a game.
10:51What do you want to call it?
10:52But it's a.
10:53Evan.
10:54It's another win.
10:55It's another win.
10:56I'm proud that it was in the balance.
10:57It's 17.
10:58It was 2017.
10:59And I'm like, we're one deck kick away.
11:02You know how in a lot of times in baseball, like the the big club will go down to the
11:07minor leagues and play an exhibition, usually in the summer.
11:11And that's what making a bet with gurus like when the Giants go down and play San Jose
11:18for a game.
11:19You bet.
11:20Warriors road record last year.
11:22Cha-ching.
11:23That's true.
11:24Yeah.
11:25Yeah.
11:26You got caught there.
11:27That was.
11:28Well, hey, Jordan Poole averaging 24.
11:29Oh, the young.
11:30Is that all?
11:31I think.
11:32Watch out for him.
11:33Shots or points.
11:34Oh, that's the three points.
11:36Josh is in Arizona.
11:37What's up, Josh?
11:38How you doing, man?
11:39Hey, guys.
11:40As always, love you guys.
11:41Love the show.
11:42I'll try to make it quick.
11:43To me.
11:44You guys hit the nail on the head.
11:45Six people and six folks in double figures.
11:46This team is strength in numbers.
11:47I'm reading John Wooden right about now.
11:48And Steve Kerr loves this team.
11:49I think the late great John Wooden would love this team.
11:50It looks like a selfless team to me.
11:51That's what hits home.
11:52And a quote that comes to mind for me.
11:53It's amazing what you can accomplish.
11:54If nobody cares, you get the credit.
11:55That's what I think.
11:56Wow.
11:57Yeah.
11:58I like that.
11:59We'll see if it continues.
12:00But this team looks good.
12:01Thanks, guys.
12:02Go Dubs.
12:03Yes, sir.
12:04Thanks.
12:05That's Josh in Arizona.
12:06Yeah.
12:07Let's talk.
12:08Dre, my dream.
12:09You wanted to hear.
12:10Had you heard this yet, Stiney?
12:11Or you heard about it?
12:12No.
12:13No.
12:14No.
12:15No.
12:16No.

13:17No.
13:18No.
13:19No.
13:20No.
13:21No.
13:22No.
13:23No.
13:24No.
13:25What?
13:26Well, he gets it now.
13:27I mean, listen.
13:28I'm not...
13:29I'm not here to...
13:30But I told you, honestly, this is not a victory lap.
13:31Well, who leaves the station in cutoffs?
13:33Me or Schaske?
13:34Probably Schaszke.
13:35But listen...
13:37No, seriously, Styne.
13:39I saw something in that preseason game that made me
13:43come in the next day and tell you all.
13:45And now, I think I saw something that I might have saw
13:50in Wiggins, but I wasn't confident enough to say it.
13:53hearing him say he was bad. He he he he's working on himself. That's all you can ask for in the
14:01foreign world. I mean, I'm not going to berate the guy for for saying what he said. But, you know,
14:09he's going to have to prove it every single day for for the whole year. Right. And then you know
14:15what? He's going to have to come back next year and prove it again, because that's the place that
14:20he put himself in. But listen, you can't not like what you just heard from Draymond Green.
14:27And so we go with it. That's all we have. We got five games and and look, this is a tough road
14:35trip they're going to have. And it'll give us a better measure of where they're at. But I think
14:41if they keep playing like this, they're going to they're going to fall into winds. If they if they
14:47can continue to get this kind of effort from this many players over the course of this many games,
14:53maybe they do have some action. How much? I don't know. I don't know. But there's just something
14:58about this team that I like. I like it. I like it. Let's go to Scottie and Marin. What's up,
15:08Scott? How you doing, man? Hey, thanks for taking my call. I wanted to talk about the Warriors.
15:15I'm excited about the Warriors this year. I know that we're kind of in a maybe rebuilding stage or
15:22a transitional stage from the dynasty. But to have all these young guys who are all performing well
15:29and playing together with the stars that we have is exciting basketball to watch. And the fact that
15:36we have all of these great three point shooters on any one night, a Lindy Waters, the third or
15:43Buddy Heald or Milton can put up 20 points, I think means that we can win enough games to probably
15:51be a sixth or seventh in in the Western Division, which will get us into the playoff. So I really
15:58like what I'm seeing. I think Kerr's doing an amazing job. And I'm actually hopeful for this
16:05year. I don't know that we're a championship team, but we're we're certainly a fun team to watch. And
16:10one of the things I think is we're showing other teams who don't have mega stars a different way to
16:17play basketball, just like Curry and the Splash Brothers showed all of the NBA how important
16:25three point shooting was. I think Kerr and the team is showing other teams you can play 12 guys
16:32if you make the right decisions. Yeah, I mean, I don't I and the one thing I will say is I don't
16:39know that any I don't know about any other team, but most teams can't play like this because their
16:4410th man isn't as good as the Warriors 10th man. I mean, I'll agree. OK, starting five, it's not
16:50the best in the league, but one through 11, one through 12. I mean, who's got more talent at the
16:56end of their bench? I mean, I haven't looked at every roster in the league depth starting, but
17:00I mean, let me the Celtics have it. The Celtics have what depth? Yeah, they got about nine.
17:07I'm just saying only nine. Where's that? Twelve. Yeah, it might even be more than that. But I'm
17:12just I look at them as a team that's got, you know, a lot of guys that contribute. What does
17:16this mean from the four one five on the Comcast business tax line? Hey, y'all, don't fall for the
17:23banana in the tailpipe again, guru. What does that mean? Start and you have Draymond. No,
17:29no. For the the Warriors. No, I think I think the text is saying, don't fall for it. Now you
17:34disagree. So let's just go with my premise. No, it's for the Warriors. Start. OK, four one five
17:40on the car for Draymond. I think it's for Draymond. I think he's saying don't fall for anything.
17:45Well, you fall for you. You fall. You've fallen for Draymond. I'll stop dating Wiggins, too. Yeah.
17:52I don't know if he was three or five. Dre from three last night. Dynamite. Some respect. Oh,
17:58gosh. I had a number for me that a record in Warriors record in games where Draymond hits
18:05three threes. Oh, yeah. Pretty amazing. Remember, 57 and three years. Yeah. Hey, there you go.
18:12Let's go to Joel in Berkeley. Let's talk about Mike Dunleavy. Oh, early front runner for the
18:19executive of the year. What's up, Joel? Hey, fellas, I'm super stoked that the Warriors
18:27are back. Yeah, me too. At the beginning of the season, I was like, well, if we could just make
18:33it to the sixth seed, I would be stoked like that. And then just like the last caller said,
18:37oh, they look like at least the sixth seed. I'm going to say, man, if we're not in the top four,
18:41I'm going to be disappointed because I think defense wins championships. But what I wanted
18:45to say is and I'm not sure where all the credit goes, but if it was if we had a horrible offseason,
18:52I'm sure where all the blame would lie. And that would be with Mike Dunleavy. Right. I think
18:57a couple of things happened. First of all, he knew what he was looking for and he found it and
19:03then he got the dudes that we needed. And that was great. And I'm so stoked that we passed on
19:09Georgian marketing. But man, the way these guys fit, what their skills, the Lindy Waters. Yeah,
19:18he's a great three point shooter, but you know what else he is? He's really committed to defense.
19:22He's got long arms, quick feet and he's in your face, you know, and same with everybody. I mean,
19:28I didn't know Buddy Hill could play defense like that. I don't think anybody else did either.
19:31Maybe Buddy didn't know that. Right. But man, you know, they're they're bought in and doing what
19:38needs to be done. And I credit to Mike Dunleavy and his team or maybe he'd he'd probably spread
19:45it around quite a bit, but I don't know who to spread it to. I'm giving it to him. Yeah,
19:48we got a GM. We got a GM, fellas, and I'm looking forward to drafting and
19:53every offseason is going to be if they're all like this, the dynasty is back.
19:59Oh, boy. Well, see that for the original caller. All right, Joe. The city. Yeah.
20:04Don't print the playoff. You know, I'm just slow down. So we got to wait.
20:08Your boy Stein is is excited about this team, too, but I am not going to use the
20:13dynasty's back just yet. And you were excited before you got the Curry gift.
20:18I was excited when I saw the roster. No, I'm just having your I like Anderson.
20:23I didn't know much about healed. You learned about Melton. So we'll see. I was talking to
20:29I also didn't know Melton can play some point. Apparently, he's got to get on the court now.
20:35But see, that's the other thing. I mean, yeah, he's got to get on the court, but
20:38you don't have to rush him right back onto the court if he's if he's not ready.
20:43But I just I got PTSD just from a Bay Area sports fan. Haven't seen McCaffrey play football.
20:49Haven't seen. We're not going to see you finish Hargrave. Then you go to the Warriors early on.
20:55Wiggins is out and the chef is out. I just want him back in Houston.
20:59We got to get him Saturday. Yeah. Draymond Green played Zion Williamson on Tuesday.
21:03What does I have that like twenty nine thirty thirty still. But he had seven turnovers in
21:08that game. And then last night, Draymond did a great job on him. Zion only five for twenty.
21:13And how did he contain how did he contain Zion Williamson?
21:17He's just really taking on his force. I was telling him last night, man, he's gotten so
21:22much better ways moving. He's finishing a lot better. He missed some chippies tonight. But,
21:27you know, it's also a team effort. You need a lot of guys shrinking.
21:31But I wanted to bounce back last night. I told him, like, he got the best of me last night.
21:34He gave me hell. And so I just wanted to bounce back and have a good defensive performance
21:38tonight. It's always fun game. Wait, is that going to be on every day?
21:42That even better now, though. It's always a fun game. I'm just playing it. Oh, gotcha.
21:48Gotcha. Oh, no. I mean, right now you got to love what you see. That's all. And I want more
21:55in regard. I want everybody healthy. That's not reality. But that's all. Chill out. Yeah.
22:00I mean, the bottom line is they're two and oh without staff. And wow. Good call. That's
22:05was a death blow last year or the year. I mean, without him, you got to you got to you got to
22:11feel good about where the Golden State Warriors are right now. Eight, eight, eight, nine, five,
22:15seven, nine, five, seven, zero is the number warrior fans. How much do you believe in this
22:21team? Look, for the first five, 10, 20 games, we're going to say, well, it's still early
22:28because it is. But you'd rather be four and one than one and four, obviously. And all day
22:34and the way this team has turned or has gotten to one and four or I'm sorry, four and one is
22:40it's been it's been noteworthy how it's how it's done. Now, this is five games where they've used
22:47a lot of players. Right. And so far, so good. I forget who the initial caller was. You kind of.
22:53Yeah. Says roll. You said slow the roll and we'll see what happens when they start losing. But
22:58I'll say this about a great real quick. I know we're up against this tiny.
23:02What happened in twenty, twenty two? And I know that was a different team,
23:05but the Warriors got off to an 18 and two start. They did set the tone
23:09on a magical championship season. I'm just saying I'm not. Oh, they're good.
23:15My point is good starts matter. And this team right now, I know it's five games.
23:21I mean, I don't think you could ask for much more.
