00:00Today is indeed a good morning because we have a beautiful guest with us this morning.

00:06She is the new Miss Planet Philippines 2024.

00:10She is Christelle May Curellos.

00:12Good morning Christelle and welcome to Rise and Shine Philippines.

00:15Good morning Christelle.

00:16Good morning to all of you.

00:18So Christelle, before you become Miss Planet Philippines 2024,

00:22we heard that you are joining another pageant.

00:25Can you tell us about it?

00:26How's your journey?

00:27So as a nature advocate, I have joined pageants that are very much involved in protecting our environment.

00:35So I also joined Miss Earth just last year.

00:39And then I had other pageants as well.

00:41And I also joined fitness competitions.

00:45You said that as an environmental advocate, this is in line with the advocacy of Miss Planet Philippines, right?

00:51Tell us about that.

00:52What is the advocacy of this pageant?

00:55Okay, so the organization focuses on promoting the 17 Sustainable Developmental Goals of the United Nations

01:04in relation to the protection of the environment.

01:10So it's not just beauty, but beauty with a purpose.

01:1417 SDGs is the focus of this.

01:17Of the United Nations.

01:18And it's not a joke.

01:20Here in the Philippines, what do you think we should prioritize in those 17 SDGs?

01:27So personally, I think that each Sustainable Developmental Goal is important in developing our economy

01:36because each of them are interconnected.

01:38So each of them can affect what will happen in another SDG.

01:42So we need to prioritize everything.

01:45So you've been in the pageant for a few days now.

01:49Is this still going on?

01:50Yes, very much.

01:52What are your preparations?

01:54So aside from physical trainings like Pasarela, I also do question and answer trainings.

02:02And then there are media exposures.

02:05And I also did my charity events.

02:07There are clothes.

02:09Because Filipinos are fans of outfits that will make you explode.

02:13National costume, that's what you're waiting for, right?

02:16Candidates are really preparing.

02:17What can we expect from the outfits that will make you explode?

02:23Especially in the national costume.

02:25Yes, for me, the artist who actually created my outfit is from my very own province of Surigao del Sur.

02:34So he is the son of a mayor there in Lanusa.

02:38I really hope that my fellow citizens in Surigao del Sur will appreciate the artistry of our local artists.

02:45Where will this be held and how many candidates will be competing?

02:49Okay, so it will be happening this coming November 19 to 27.

02:54Yes, in Cambodia, we are expecting to have 82 candidates.

03:04Okay, what do you think will be your edge when you compete in Miss Planet International?

03:09I think for me, it's my positive attitude towards a lot of things.

03:14You know, being in this kind of competition, there will be a lot of challenges.

03:18And you will see a lot of girls competing with a lot of girls.

03:21But I believe that I am looking into everything as a good experience, as a learning experience.

03:27And when somebody enjoys the moment, it's already a winning memory for me.

03:36Okay, in a scale of 1 to 10, how prepared are you for Miss Planet Philippines and why?

03:41For me, it's 9 first, so that I have room to grow.

03:45Oh, that's possible.

03:47Because as you go along in the Miss Planet International pageant, you will learn a lot.

03:54So, what are you most excited about in this competition, April?

03:59Oh, I'm always excited to meet the girls, to make new friends.

04:02Because when I join pageants, the things that last are my friends.

04:07Pageants can only last a year, but friends can last a lifetime.

04:14I have a question.

04:16If you were a planet, what would you be and why?

04:19I would still be a planet Earth.

04:21Because I believe that it is where I belong and it is the world that I want to protect,

04:28not just for myself, but for the future generations.

04:31Wow!

04:32Do you have a message for our fellow Filipinos?

04:35So, for our Filipino fans, I know that you are all supportive in the different kinds of pageantry in the Philippines.

04:41But I also hope and look forward of you supporting me in my journey this coming November 18 to 27 in Cambodia.
