00:00Let's get into our big race preview for this first segment.
00:06We're going to get into the grade 3 River City.
00:08Then we'll dive into the Churchill pick 5 for Saturday races 7
00:11through 11 in our final segment.
00:13We'll get into three graded stakes races up at Woodbine Alexa.
00:17I thought this race was really fun to handicap because you have
00:19some familiar faces some names that we've gotten to know over
00:22the last couple years and they're not quite in the grade 1
00:26caliber of horses because they're not really consistent horses
00:29all along and we can start out with one like Emanuel who is a
00:32multiple graded stakes winner.
00:34He was a big time purchase a couple starts back by new connections
00:37who wanted to point him to some bigger races, but he's been a
00:40little disappointing as of late.
00:42He did face a couple horses though who were running in the
00:44Breeders Cup last weekend.
00:46Yeah, he was, you know, kind of a big hope at the beginning of
00:48the year.
00:49I was a really big fan of him.
00:50He was actually my top pick back in April in the maker's mark
00:53and he led and then faded to fifth place and he's just kind
00:56of failed to get the job done since then.
00:58He's come up a little bit empty and flattened out in his last
01:01two starts which have been under the guidance of his new trainer
01:05Mike maker after leaving Todd Pletcher's barn.
01:07So I think they lost a little bit of faith in him.
01:09And unfortunately, so have I considering how many closers we
01:13have in this field and that is his running style.
01:15You're going to see a lot of horses in here who have kind of
01:18staked their claim winning a big race or two some time ago, but
01:22they're just not in the best of form a horse like Hades was the
01:24grade three Holy Bull winner, but he's over his last six since
01:28then and he'll try turf for the first time.
01:31What do you think about Hades in here?
01:33You know, my friend own hate owns Hades.
01:34So I'm always rooting for Hades and he is on improving form
01:38and his last two starts but it seems to me they're not quite
01:41sure what to make of him at this stage.
01:43They're giving turf a try pedigree wise.
01:46I don't think moving to turf is a very smart move his sire
01:50awesome slew is 17% for dirt routes and only 7% for turf
01:54route. So I think this move seems like a little bit of a
01:56desperate move to be honest Harlan Estate the number three.
02:00He's over his last nine.
02:02He was behind Master of Foxhounds the number five in this race
02:05in their most recent start.
02:07Do you think he can turn the tables on the Master of Foxhounds
02:10or do you like Harlan Estate at all in here?
02:13I don't really like Harlan State in here.
02:15He's never managed to pull off a graded stakes win, you know,
02:17despite many attempts his last performance was was his fastest
02:22in the last year, but his only win has been over Kentucky
02:27Downs in the last two years.
02:29So it's a little bit of a unique course to sometimes horses
02:32that like that course.
02:33Maybe they don't like and they're not quite as comfortable
02:36on some of the other courses one horse that has been pretty
02:38comfortable as of late is Reckoning Force.
02:40I think he's kind of a measuring stick for this race.
02:43Like, you know what you're going to get from him and that's
02:45a pretty good effort.
02:46And if somebody doesn't jump up with something that's a little
02:48bit better.
02:49He's a very logical winner of this race.
02:51I think I picked him third, but I would have a tough time
02:54playing any exotics without using him coming off that really
02:57good third place finish last time out in the Knickerbocker.
03:00Yeah, did we decide are we going to show us a replay for this
03:03one in the Knickerbocker?
03:04I think we were we showed replays on some of our videos that
03:08we have on YouTube and I think we have the ability to go back
03:11and take a look at the grade three Knickerbocker and that
03:13stretch run because he kind of loomed up with a pretty good
03:16run and just faded like he had every opportunity late.
03:19I don't really have many knocks on that.
03:20I just I think he's a pretty good fit in this spot.
03:23I think so too.
03:23He's running his best races in the fall, which we like to see
03:26a horse kind of peeking coming into a race.
03:28No, he pressed the pace and still came for on for a late
03:31rally and he has potential to stay close to the pace and make
03:35a late rally.
03:36Master of Foxhounds is a multiple graded stakes winner.
03:39He did a lot of his work recently out in Southern California.
03:42So I got familiar with this one Alexa and then he went over
03:45to Keeneland.
03:45He was a pretty good second in his last start and he should
03:48be in the mix early in this race and probably throughout.
03:51Yeah, I really like Master of Foxhounds, especially at 12 to
03:54one ons really talented horse who ran in the Breeders' Cup
03:57mile actually last year at Santa Anita didn't really get a
03:59good trip.
04:00That was a disappointing performance and he's now seven
04:02years old after the Breeders' Cup.
04:04They gave him a long time off, you know, since I think seven
04:07months and he's just come back very well.
04:11Most of these opponents I think are going to want to make
04:13their run at the end and he has that pace advantage being
04:16in the early pace.
04:18Public sector was 0 for 16 in a stretch of races before
04:22finally getting a win on July the 19th then tried the synthetic.
04:26I just feel like he hasn't been in the best of form.
04:28I'm going to kind of make him prove it in here.
04:30What do you think about public sector?
04:33Yeah, I don't seem have enough earlier like speed to be a major
04:35player in here and it's the first out after a three and a
04:38half month break.
04:39So I'm not high on him.
04:40Wonderful Justice is the number seven.
04:42He will go third start now for trainer Joe Sharp.
04:45He was a winner last time out.
04:47But if you're looking at that field and who he beat, defeated
04:50a horse named Pioneering Spirit.
04:51I think it's 0 for the last 11 too.
04:53So I'm not sure how strong that field he beat is.
04:56This feels like a group that's a lot stronger to me.
04:59Any thoughts on Wonderful Justice?
05:01I think Wonderful Justice is an interesting long shot.
05:03You know, he stretched out to a mile on 316th in October and
05:06wired the field.
05:07That was his first grass start with his new trainer.
05:11And I think his trainer Joe Sharp just brought him out for
05:14his best performance.
05:15So that's promising but this will be a big step up in class
05:18at least be forwardly placed.
05:19If you look at the time form US pace projector, they have him
05:22in that top flight.
05:23So for a long shot for a horse who you're going to get a good
05:26run for your money with you always like courses that you
05:29know will be forwardly placed.
05:30I think towards the outside.
05:31We have a couple of really interesting horses like the
05:33Eight Battle of Normandy.
05:34I like a little bit more than you do Alexa.
05:36This is a sharp horse who's improving who's logical.
05:39I think has some versatility to him.
05:40She defeated and the winner is who came back to beat Reckoning
05:44Force in the Knickerbocker.
05:46So I think Battle of Normandy is in a good spot here.
05:48Any thoughts on the eight?
05:51You know, I don't hate Battle of Normandy.
05:53I don't like him as much as you he likes to press the pace
05:55and grind him down at the end.
05:56I do think his career kind of cooled off and then it's heated
05:58up a little bit in more recent starts.
06:01I just don't see him having that extreme of a close to have
06:05an impact here and in races like this where it's really
06:07competitive.
06:08Sometimes it's not even that you dislike a horse.
06:10It's just that you like others more, right?
06:12Especially when there's really contentious races like this
06:14where there are four or five six horses who all seem like
06:17they make sense.
06:18Gigante, I thought had some legitimate trouble last time
06:21out.
06:21He's kind of buried down on the inside at Keeneland and he
06:24has the ability to show up with a pretty good effort.
06:27He'll go second start off six and a half months.
06:29Do you give him any bit of a look in here?
06:32You know, he's shown tactical speed in the past leading
06:34the field as well as closing from off the pace.
06:36I think in this race, it'll it makes sense for him to be
06:39part of the early pace.
06:41But I do think he may get run down by the closest at the
06:44end to round out the field.
06:45The number 10 cash equity is a French bread.
06:48You can see with the the italics are with the parentheses
06:51there and the FR that'll tell us a lot of times which country
06:54these horses have come from.
06:55So cash equity comes out of some really strong races Alexa,
06:59but he's not been a win machine as of late.
07:01He's over his last 12 with five seconds with three thirds.
07:05He's great three place.
07:06The couple starts back and he just lost to more than looks
07:09who came back to win the Breeders Cup mile, but he doesn't
07:11win a whole lot.
07:13Yeah, he's he hasn't won a lot in quite a while.
07:16And so that I do think is a red flag, you know, he is the
07:20biggest closer in the end.
07:21But again, when you have big turf raises and you're closer,
07:23you're going to run into traffic.
07:24So I do like him but at the morning line odds as the favorite
07:28is not going to be my topic.
07:29Yes, you look through our selections.
07:31Now, we both use this horse in the top four, but we're both
07:34a little trepidatious about using this horse on the win
07:37end at a short price for me.
07:39I'll use the 8-9-4 then throw the 10 in.
07:42Alexa will use the five horse on top with the 4-10-7.
