00:00Everton's late equaliser against Fulham ensured that their unbeaten run carried on.
00:04While former Blue Alex Robey had given the visitors the lead, it was Beto who scored
00:09very late on from a brilliant Ashley Young cross to ensure that Everton came away with
00:14a point at Goodison Park.
00:16One thing that has to be spoken about during this game is the fact that Ashley Young now
00:20has 3 assists this season making him the highest assisting defender in the league at the current
00:25time.
00:26Now he has had plenty of criticism over his time at the club.
00:31Now 39 he is very much a veteran, brought in to play a role where he will just fill
00:35in wherever is needed with injuries but because of injuries and the lack of finances he has
00:41mainly been a pretty key player featuring a lot of right back where they've had issues.
00:46He's filled in at left back, he's also filled in at midfield as well.
00:50For all the criticism that he has got it was a really calm and brilliant ball that found
00:54Beto in a crowded box, let's not forget, for that goal and it was brilliantly put away
01:00by the striker.
01:01Now one thing that Everton fans will be discussing is whether Beto can take over from Dominic
01:06Cavallun in that attacking role.
01:09Cavallun has struggled this season and while he has had moments of quality he has struggled
01:13overall to be really clinical and Everton do need a better striker up front or someone
01:17at least in better form right now.
01:20Beto's goal shows that he is able to find the back of the net and be in those striking
01:24positions and while perhaps he may not always have that consistent quality he is someone
01:28who works extremely hard for the team and given what we saw in his post-match interview
01:34he is clearly a very committed player to this club and really wants to succeed and perhaps
01:39it might be time to give him a chance.
01:42The stats have told us that Beto's late equaliser means that he has scored more non-penalty
01:46goals than Cavallun since the beginning of the 2023-2024 season.
01:51He has achieved this while playing almost 2,000 less minutes which is the equivalent
01:55of almost 22 matches and it's clear that he does need a chance up front and with South
02:00ampton coming up next it's a perfect time to give him that chance up front.
02:04And lastly for Everton they will be discussing the midfield partnership of Idrissa Gueye
02:09and Abdoulaye Diouf Khoury which has begun to form over the last few weeks.
02:14Now of course there's Aurel Mangala who has also been part of that midfield and of course
02:18over the last two years James Garner has been a real key player and there's been the
02:22youngster Tim Iribudinam who has started this season so strongly but as it stands Iribudinam
02:28and Garner are both injured leaving Gueye and Diouf Khoury and Mangala as the three
02:33senior options for that position and so far Gueye and Diouf Khoury look to have the most
02:38cohesive and most solid partnership at the current time so it makes sense that these
02:43two will carry on.
02:44Mangala is an experienced option who will be drafted into the side and the pairing looks
02:48solid it's gone up against a couple of good sides so far and it's been key to this five
02:52game run which they're now on where they're unbeaten so those two look pretty set to be
02:56the start of midfield pairing going forward.
02:59Next up for Everton is Southampton at the weekend.
03:02They get a break from playing in the Cup in the week as they were knocked out earlier
03:06in the season by the Saints.
03:08They travel to St Mary's where Russell Marr is under huge pressure and given that they
03:13found a way to win against Ipswich away they will very much fancy their chances of getting
03:17three points against a Southampton side who are under all types of pressure.
