00:00Everton made it three games unbeaten in the league after drawing Milner with
00:03Newcastle at the weekend at Goodison Park. The big team news came with Jair
00:08Brantford who wasn't available for this game after suffering an injury in
00:11training which was again another blow for Everton having only just
00:15returned last weekend in the win over Crystal Palace.
00:18Despite that Everton started pretty strongly and had a goal ruled out for
00:21offside by Abdoulaye Diouf Khoury who's brilliant
00:24header from a brilliant James Garner cross was
00:27ruled out for offside but it was a strong start from Everton at that time.
00:32However James Tarkowski who has been an ever-present in Everton's
00:35lineup in the league since signing in 2022 made what was a very very rare
00:40mistake when he gave away a penalty for his
00:42foul on Sandro Tonali. Having rugby tackled the midfielder to
00:46the ground the VAR had no choice but to give a penalty
00:49and it was ex-Everton striker Anthony Gordon who stepped up
00:53to take the spot kick. He was met by plenty of cheers given that
00:58his exit from Everton was far from amicable in
01:012023 and when Jordan Pickford saved the penalty
01:04which was down to his right which was a brilliant save Everton fans were
01:08extremely happy to see an ex-player who definitely not loved by the fans anymore
01:13missed that spot kick but it was a huge chance for Newcastle and Jordan
01:17Pickford as always came to the rescue for Everton.
01:20Everton then had their own penalty shout turned down by
01:23the VAR and the referee on the day. Carver Lewin was seemingly brought down
01:27by Dan Byrne having already had a shot on target saved and
01:30he was just about to fire in the rebound
01:32but collided with the big centre-back and it looked like he impeded him
01:35but nothing was given. Sean Dyche was hugely frustrated after the game and
01:39called the incident bizarre and the Sky Sports RefWatch panel team
01:43Stephen Warnock claimed it was an astonishing moment that
01:46Everton were not given a penalty for that incident.
01:49But a point made it three games unbeaten and they remain 16th in the
01:52Premier League table two points ahead of Crystal Palace
01:55who are sat in the relegation zone and heading into the international break
01:59they have a chance now to see if they can get Brantwight fit and back for the
02:02fixtures that start in two weeks time and they do have a favourable fixture run
02:06now where they will look to put together a
02:09little bit of form and try and add some points to their tally
02:13and get up the table having what was being
02:15a very difficult start for them this season.
