00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. immediately mobilized

00:03various government agencies to address the effects of Hurricane Christine

00:08and to warn its affected.

00:10This is the country or the change of the country of Kenneth Paciente.

00:15In the face of heavy rain due to Hurricane Christine,

00:19President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. directed to put dams in the country.

00:24His directive is to gradually release water from the dams in the Luzon area in general

00:29and to do this while the dams are not yet at a high level.

00:33According to the President, it is expected that the rain will intensify

00:37due to the landfall of the hurricane that is expected later tonight or tomorrow morning.

00:41But he should plan it well to ensure that no community will be affected by the impact.

00:48What can the downstream communities tolerate in terms of additional water?

00:53And do that and try to release that amount, just that amount.

00:58It should not be damaged, it should not be flooded.

01:02The actual outflow should not affect the downstream communities.

01:11The President also issued a directive to gradually distribute assistance

01:15to the affected families and individuals.

01:17Although it is difficult now to enter some places due to the flood,

01:20he assured that assistance will reach those in need.

01:24When the flood reaches Region 5, we can do everything we can do.

01:29But let's not enter Region 1 and 2 yet because it's just the beginning.

01:35There's nothing we can do except wait for it to pass.

01:40Give all the warnings that we can give.

01:43Evacuate as many people as we can.

01:45But we really have to batten down the hatches for a day.

01:54And make sure that everybody has what they need.

01:56Everybody has the emergency supplies.

02:00They have electricity, they have water.

02:08But maybe we'll have to shut that down.

02:10But let's not let it last too long.

02:12But in the meantime, let's think about when we can go in with our equipment for the public works.

02:22According to the DSWD, 2 million family food packs have been prepositioned to the affected areas

02:28and they were able to distribute them yesterday.

02:31Aside from providing assistance, the President also assured that

02:34there will be quick action to rescue those in need.

02:37The Department of National Defense confirmed that

02:39EDCA sites are ready to be activated for those in need of international relief.

02:44The country's assets for possible rescue operations are also ready.

02:48The AFP is also continuing to monitor the situation

02:52so that we will be able to activate the EDCA sites

02:57which were put there specifically for this purpose.

03:00We have the available assets to answer for lift capabilities as of this time.

03:07However, in the exercise of caution, we are planning two things.

03:16To foresee the effects in the coming days,

03:53We will be taking them to Mindanao first.

03:59According to the OCD, one of the casualties was from a landslide

04:03after a tree branch fell.

04:05Five were injured, four in Northern Samar and one in Camarines Norte.

04:10Seven were reported missing.

04:12Three in Masbate, three in Daan Bantaya, Cebu, and one in Pilar, Cebu.

04:16Fifty-seven were reported missing,

04:19forty-nine were partially damaged, and eight were totally damaged.

04:23The estimated damage in the agriculture and infrastructure sector

04:27is not yet estimated.

04:29More than 5,000 are stranded in the areas

04:32that are being assisted by the Philippine Ports Authority

04:35by providing their needs such as food.
