00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. has ordered

00:03various agencies of the government to immediately respond to the effects of the León storm.

00:09Among those affected are the province of Batanes,

00:12as reported by Kenneth Paciente.

00:20The León storm hit Batanes.

00:24It hit the Batanes Police Provincial Office around 2 a.m.

00:29Heavy rain and wind gusts were seen.

00:32The waves were also high in some coastal areas

00:35because of the wind blowing, so some trees almost fell.

00:39Also because of the León storm,

00:41the oldest church in the town of Itbayat,

00:44the Santa Maria de Mayan Church, was burned.

00:46In the middle of the León storm,

00:48President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

00:51called for a whole-of-government approach to the calamity.

00:53According to the President,

00:54the government is closely monitoring the effects of the storm.

00:58Although the resources are affected due to the upcoming storm,

01:03he assured that the country's assets are sufficient

01:05to avoid the most severe effects of the storm.

01:08And that the rapid recovery of the affected individuals

01:11and the reorganization of the left-behind.

01:13The Chief Executive also assured

01:15that there will be no brotherly help and recovery efforts

01:18for those affected by the León and Christine storms.

01:21In addition to the President,

01:23all branches of the government remain alert

01:26and ready to provide assistance at any time.

01:28The DSWD Region 2 continues to assist the families

01:32currently staying in evacuation centers.

01:35In fact, the FFPs and sleeping kits

01:38for the affected individuals have already started to be distributed.

01:41Families living in areas affected by the disaster

01:44such as the landslides are also continuing to be evacuated.

01:49The DRRMC in Batanes is working hard

01:52to clean the roads from rocks and soil

01:54that were damaged due to the landslides.

01:56Meanwhile, the government has allocated

02:00P895.658 million for assistance

02:03to those affected by the León and Christine storms.

02:06According to the NDRRMC,

02:08this allocation includes food and non-food items

02:11from the DSWD, OCD, and local governments.
