00:00Good day, you beautiful people.
00:11Welcome to Issa Does Tech, where we do tech in your life, in style.
00:15Very excited for this one because the very first time I ever saw a Mi Scooter was during
00:19I think the Mi Mix 2 launch, where to test the phone's durability, they had a Mi Scooter
00:25run over the phone.
00:27And yes, the Mi Mix 2 was cool, but at that point, my only thoughts were, I want that
00:32scooter.
00:33Fast forward to years later, we are on that video.
00:36In this video, I'm trying out the Mi Scooter 3.
00:40I'm so excited about this, except I didn't really think it through because I didn't realize
00:44that I had never been on an electric scooter before in my life, ever, before I shot this
00:50video.
00:51Anyway, that and a whole lot of other things I've learned in this video about the scooter
00:56and about my scooter riding skills.
00:59But first off, let's unbox.
01:02The Mi Electric Scooter 3 arrived in this box, pretty compact considering that's a whole
01:07scooter in there.
01:09There were instructions in taking out the scooter and as far as assembly was concerned,
01:13all we did was screw on the handlebar and that was it.
01:17Aside from the scooter body, it came with the screws and this thing you screw it with,
01:23instructions, there was an extra tire, there was the charging cord, and also this thing
01:29which I think is for the tire.
01:32The charging port can be found at the bottom here and you do need to charge once you receive
01:36the scooter.
01:37It's as simple as plugging it in and then once done, you need to activate the scooter.
01:43Before we do that, let's look at the scooter a little more closely.
01:46In the middle of the handlebar, there is a screen, tap to turn on, and then tap to turn
01:50on the headlights.
01:52On the screen, you're usually seeing the speed at which you're riding but you can also double
01:57tap to change different modes.
01:59As per previous Mi Scooter materials, these 3 modes are the Eco mode, the Standard mode
02:04which is the D, and the Sports mode which is the S.
02:07Of course, these have corresponding speeds and functions which I am later to learn when
02:11I get on the scooter for the first time, more on that later on in the video.
02:15Though also in this video, there is a setting instead of Eco for this pedestrian, so I'm
02:22assuming this is for when you're like walking with the scooter because it doesn't really
02:27go on this mode.
02:28On the left side are the brakes which you shouldn't do abruptly as I am to learn later
02:32and then there's this cute bell.
02:35And on the right is the accelerator, also do not use it abruptly.
02:39On the back of the scooter is a brake light that automatically turns on when you're on
02:43that pedestrian mode, I'm gonna call it pedestrian mode.
02:47It also automatically turns on when you brake.
02:50On the left back side, there is a stand which, well, lets the scooter stand.
02:55This thing does fold, all you need to do is pull that lever down, there are a few locks
03:00on there, and then the front part and the handlebar comes down and locks into place
03:05with that bell, it's pretty cool.
03:07And this is how you carry it.
03:20The Mi Electric Scooter 3 connects to the app via Bluetooth through the Mi Home app.
03:38It's pretty cute though, like the Mi Home app was asking me which room to put my scooter
03:43in as it does with all the Mi smart home stuff that I have in my house, but I mean technically
03:48the scooter shouldn't be in the living room, but it is, so I put it there.
03:53Like I said earlier, to use the scooter for the first time, you need to be activating
03:56the scooter, otherwise when you turn it on it just beeps forever.
04:00Activating is simple enough, once you pair your scooter to the phone, the Mi Home app
04:05detects the scooter, pairs with it, and then it gives you this really nice safety guide
04:10to make sure that whenever you're on your scooter, you're doing it right and you're
04:14being safe.
04:15As you can see here, here are my smart home stuff.
04:19If we tap Mi Electric Scooter 3, it's pairing via Bluetooth, and there we go.
04:25It gives you battery level, your average speed, current trip, and here you can lock the device.
04:31It not only locks your motor, it also makes people who want to move the scooter with the
04:36wheels very hard, and then there's a buzzer alarm.
04:40Pretty cool to deter people from getting your scooter, but I will say that if someone really
04:44wants that scooter, they're probably just gonna fold it up and carry it away.
04:49Hopefully no one does that, but please don't do that to other people's scooters.
04:53Up here are more scooter settings, so you can turn the taillight always on, you have
04:57low battery notifications, energy recovery intensity, you can choose between low, up
05:02until high.
05:03You have a password for your scooter, unit system.
05:07You also have basic info and battery info.
05:12Your speed and mileage info, and a riding guide.
05:16Yes, the same video you are made to watch after activating your scooter for the very
05:22first time.
05:24So before I actually try getting on this thing, let's talk about the new things that we can
05:28find on the Mi Electric Scooter 3 versus the older Mi Electric Scooters.
05:33First off, this scooter has a new folding design.
05:35It's supposed to be really easy compared to how the old locking mechanism of the older
05:40Mi Electric Scooters work.
05:42Xiaomi also claims safety upgrades across all batteries, brakes, and reflectors.
05:46Like, there's a new dual pad disc brake that allows for more steady braking, and there's
05:52a new sleep mode to protect your scooter's battery when unused for 10-15 days.
05:56If unused for that duration, the scooter automatically goes on sleep mode, or when the scooter's
06:00battery falls below 30%, it does the sleep mode as well.
06:05Also, there are new front and side reflectors for increased visibility.
06:09Right, let's try this scooter!
06:12First off, this thing does have a significant weight.
06:15Nothing I can't handle, obviously, but it is significant.
06:19Folding and unfolding this thing is simple enough, but it takes a little time to get
06:23the hang of it so you can do it smoothly.
06:26You start the scooter by kicking off the stand, and then kicking off manually, and then pressing
06:30the accelerator.
06:31Now, the scooter will only start once you reach 5kmph, which I didn't know at first
06:38so it was a liiiiittle awkward.
06:41Eventually, you get the hang of it, and you will go, and go, and go, and go even on incline.
06:52You will then eventually learn that scooting is fun, and it's not as scary as you thought
06:56it would be, and that in scooters, as in life, every time you fall, you get back on, and
07:02nothing will ever happen if you don't do anything you were scared of.
07:07Life lesson, scooter lesson, and yes, here is more of me on that scooter, succeeding.
07:14That was an adventure.
07:16Now some final thoughts about the Mi Electric Scooter 3.
07:20First of all, it's really, really fun.
07:21Riding an electric scooter, though as scary as it may seem, because I realized that this
07:25is not the scooter that I played with when I was a kid, so more of thinking of it as
07:30a toy scooter, think of it as a smaller vehicle.
07:34That being said, despite me never having used an electric scooter before in my life, it
07:40was easy enough to use, and all the controls were very intuitive.
07:43I literally got on, and went.
07:46I'm not the most balanced person, but I had no issues with this, I haven't fallen off,
07:51and all you really need to learn are the commands for the different modes on the scooter, but
07:56then other than that, you're good to go.
07:57Aside from being fun and easy, I feel like this is an economic solution versus stuff
08:01like motorcycles which run on actual fuel.
08:04Of course, it has to be said that when you do use this Mi Electric Scooter, you have
08:08to make sure that the places you're riding at are actually conducive to scooters and
08:13bikes and such.
08:14Also, it is a scooter, but it's a pretty powerful scooter.
08:17I don't know if it's just me, and it's because it's the first time I'm riding an electric
08:20scooter, but the fact that it does 25 kilometers per hour is mind-blowing to me.
08:25Like, I know that there are faster scooters, but riding it at 15 kilometers per hour, my
08:30brother was like, wow.
08:32And I haven't even ridden it to that speed, and yet I felt like I was already going pretty
08:37fast.
08:38Scoot, scoot!
08:39I was also pretty impressed with its performance when it came to inclines.
08:43I actually live in a hilly area, you guys, and so that put it to the test, and the scooter
08:48seemed to have no problems at all.
08:50And finally, I love that it's compact, and it's something that can carry me around and
08:56bring me places, but it's also something that I can carry around and bring places.
09:00You get what I mean?
09:01If I wanted to put it in my car and bring it somewhere where I can go around and scoot,
09:05I can.
09:06It's saying a lot that I think that this scooter is more easily transportable because it folds
09:11versus transporting an actual bike.
09:14At least the mountain bikes and racers that we have.
09:16All in all, the Mi Electric Scooter 3 did not disappoint.
09:18It was as fun and as cool as I thought in my mind from years ago when I first saw that
09:23Mi Electric Scooter run over a Mi Mix.
09:26I would definitely recommend to people who are looking to getting a smaller vehicle for
09:30shorter areas, or a fuss-free and portable thing to get around with.
09:34And that was it for today's video.
09:36Let me know what you think about how I did this scooter review.
