00:00:00Each and every Wednesday around the National Football League, a new week on the practice field
00:00:05begins. You see who is out there, who is taking reps with the starters, who might be learning
00:00:11a new organization and new offense. Although it's not all that new for Devontae Adams,
00:00:18who of course Nathaniel Hackett was the OC for Aaron Rodgers' final three years in Green Bay,
00:00:24the final two of the tenure in Wisconsin for Devontae as well. It's just miraculous,
00:00:30Donnie, that as quickly as he gets to New York, Devontae Adams' ham...
00:00:39Ah, Devontae, yeah, Devontae Adams' hamstring right here. Ben just got hamstrings right there.
00:00:43Maybe he got hit by the sniper over here, but let's focus on the point here for Devontae Adams.
00:00:47You are in Vegas here. Why did you go to Vegas? Number one, it's a great city to live in,
00:00:52the weather is fantastic. You're welcome maybe in Green Bay. You just wanted a fresh start and
00:00:56get back to your old college teammate, which was Derek Carr. You also had a talented running back
00:01:00in the back foot and what we thought would be a second time around being a head coach for Josh
00:01:04McDaniels, and that would work out much better in your favor. And it absolutely didn't. So if
00:01:09we are looking at Devontae Adams and saying, is he going to be refreshed going from Las Vegas
00:01:14to New York? Absolutely. He's back with one of his best friends in Aaron Rodgers. And how many
00:01:18times, quite just going back in the day, you switch schools like, man, I don't even know what
00:01:22they're learning at this point. I have no friends in the room. Not the same thing for Devontae Adams.
00:01:26You get shipped off to a team where you don't know the playbook or the players on the team.
00:01:30You got to ingrain yourself in that environment. He can step right in for the New York Jets and
00:01:35know exactly what that offensive playbook and play with a quarterback that threw you so many
00:01:40touchdowns in the past to get to his hamstring injury, Ben. There was no hamstring injury. And
00:01:45if there was, boy, you're getting some of that Mr. Miyagi healing out there, touching up on those
00:01:50legs, going, get out there, son. So, you know, I was just, we had a little bit of a technical
00:01:55difficulty right there. I did get a hamstring as DRS did just say, can we go back? Because I want
00:02:01to make sure I saw what I saw to that clip reel that we had of all the photos, like five out of
00:02:07six Devontae Adams in Sin City playing for the Raiders, the second to last, a random shot in
00:02:14Green Bay alongside Aaron Rodgers. All right, here we go. Raiders, Devontae Adams. Okay, there he goes.
00:02:20Let's move him. Oh, there it is. A Green Bay Packers with Aaron Rodgers, Devontae Adams and Aaron
00:02:26back to Las Vegas against the Minnesota Vikings. Keep it rolling. Oh, another one in Green Bay
00:02:32and the throwback uniforms, a little bit of give and take. This is scintillating stuff. More
00:02:37Devontae Adams and Aaron Rodgers. All right. So just a couple of Raiders thrown in, but actually
00:02:43majority Green Bay Packers, which I guess DRS, if you are a Jets backer, you still believe in New
00:02:49York, despite a two and four sub 500 start. You want to see what they did in their final four
00:02:55years together in Green Bay. Three of the four Devontae Adams, at least 1,370 receiving yards,
00:03:03at least 11 receiving touchdowns. The only year he didn't get to a thousand or double digit TDs,
00:03:09he only played 12 games. There is something to believe in. And because you and I were not
00:03:15together on Tuesday, when this trade was breaking, when we had this huge blockbuster in the NFL,
00:03:22in the conversation between myself and Joe Ranieri, does it really move the needle? Yes,
00:03:27Devontae Adams will provide a positive impact offensively, but does it turn a two and four
00:03:32Jets team into a 10 and seven Jets team at the end of the year, earning a playoff berth?
00:03:38That was the question. So that is the question, DRS. Does the addition of Devontae Adams
00:03:43make the New York Jets, in your mind, a playoff team this season?
00:03:47It's hard to say no. It is because they did get better and adding one of the best players in the
00:03:52NFL to your team is never a bad thing. But I always say this, Ben, I never looked at the New
00:03:57York Jets and be like, that team is one wide receiver away from actually doing damage in the
00:04:01NFL. They had a good wide receiver crew. They're supposed to have a good quarterback. They're
00:04:04supposed to have a dominant running game and a dominant defense. They're supposed to make the
00:04:08playoffs. They were favored to make the playoffs before the season started. So for me, it would be
00:04:12disingenuous to say now that they got Devontae Adams, watch out Jets. They're going to take it
00:04:17to another level. I don't believe that, but I can't honestly say they're not a better football
00:04:21team today than they were just a few hours ago because they added Devontae Adams. They are a
00:04:25better team. He's a great wide receiver, but nobody looked at the Jets and said they're a
00:04:30receiver away from actually competing. That's the issue we're all having.
00:04:34Minus 172, the price on New York to snap a 13-year playoff drought to make the postseason
00:04:40before the year got started. After the loss on Monday night to Buffalo in the immediate aftermath
00:04:46before about two hours and the trade of Devontae Adams, plus 164 to see the playoffs. It is now
00:04:52plus 136. The Jets still more favored to miss the postseason than to reach the playoffs as a
00:04:59wildcard team. But the good news in the silver lining outside of Devontae Adams DRS is the rest
00:05:06of the ASC ain't all that fantastic as we expected it to be. Only six of the 16 teams in this
00:05:12conference have a winning record after the first third of this NFL season. One of those teams,
00:05:18though, above 500, the team the Jets will see in primetime on Sunday night in the Steel City,
00:05:24it is the Pittsburgh Steelers. And despite a four and two start with Justin Fields under center for
00:05:31all six games to start this season, it appears a quarterback change is underway. Russell Wilson
00:05:37back on the practice field yesterday for Pittsburgh did practice for the first time
00:05:42since that hamstring injury before the year in full last week. And yesterday, Donnie,
00:05:47not just a full participant in practice for Pittsburgh, but taking the reps with the ones
00:05:52he is on track now to start on Sunday night for the Steelers against New York. I'm telling you,
00:05:58the minute he completes that first five yard out to start that football game, we're talking about
00:06:02Russell Wilson, a lot of Iron City beers being held high in the air, a lot of Heinz ketchup being
00:06:06poured on French fries, a lot of Promancy Brothers sandwiches going down the hall in celebration,
00:06:11because that's something you don't normally see there with Justin Fields. Well, wide open wide
00:06:15receiver and easy pitching catch. That's pretty tremendous. We understand Justin Fields can make
00:06:19plays, and he has made plays this year. He's great with his legs. He's a younger version of
00:06:24Russell Wilson and a more dynamic version. But all I need to be for my quarterback here in Pittsburgh
00:06:30is to be a point guard. Just make the simple play, distribute it, let everybody do their work,
00:06:35hand the football off the running back runs, pass it to the tight end over the middle, gain a couple
00:06:39yards, pass it to the wide receiver, let him get those yak yardage out there. Just make the easy
00:06:43plays. Russ will be able to do that. But as I've said already, Justin Fields still needs to be a
00:06:47big part of this offense. Chase some hill times two with what New Orleans has. He can be effective
00:06:52in the red zone, and he can be effective on short yardage situations, which Russell Wilson can't do
00:06:57that anymore. I think you're going to get the best of both worlds for this year. And Ben, I'm not
00:07:00saying Russ is coming in this weekend against the Jets, 30 of 35 for 325 and three touchdowns. I'm
00:07:06just saying it's going to be nice to see a wide open wide out eight yards away. Wow, wasn't that
00:07:11easy on that completion. It is a tough pill to swallow if you are Justin Fields. You did what
00:07:17was asked of you. You won four of six games. Oftentimes, Donnie, especially to start the season
00:07:23in the Steelers, perfect three, you know, start. He was not asked to throw the football down the
00:07:27field. He was as they tried to rally against Indianapolis had more than 300 passing yards,
00:07:32more than 50 on the ground, multiple scores, a huge component in the ground game for Pittsburgh
00:07:38that had been an F the last few seasons after big Ben's retirement last week on display in Las Vegas,
00:07:4559 yards for fields, multiple rushing touchdowns, Najee Harris over the century mark and a rushing
00:07:51score. But there was a little bit left to be desired out of Justin Fields in the passing
00:07:56attack for Pittsburgh. And that is what you hope Russell Wilson provides efficiency in the IRS 15
00:08:03games last year, 15 starts in Denver, just over 3000 yards. Only once after week three that he
00:08:10throw for more than 250. He played clean 26 touchdowns, only eight interceptions all year
00:08:16long. But the Russell Wilson of the let Russ cook days back in Seattle, those seem to be a thing of
00:08:23recent memory. So here we are Sunday night in primetime. Again, the Jets a very slight favorite
00:08:30for a monumental matchup for gangrene in primetime for a second consecutive week. Donnie, we said it
00:08:38on Monday, the Jets felt like they had to win this game against Buffalo. They did not. Well,
00:08:43they went on Sunday in Pittsburgh. I actually think they will win on Sunday in Pittsburgh.
00:08:48Because if you're looking at the Jets losses here, yes, a lot of it is on Aaron Rodgers. And
00:08:52you're hoping that a all pro slash pro bowler slash Hall of Famer can just have an average
00:08:57football game. Get a kicker that can make some kicks here. If your kicker was actually decent
00:09:02over the past month here, you have two more wins on your schedule than you don't now sooner than
00:09:06later, the dam is going to break through and the Jets are going to win football games just
00:09:10by being average. And I think they can do that this weekend. The Jets have found ways to lose
00:09:14football games. However, keep an eye on that total of 38 and a half. The other New York team
00:09:20that live right here on the early line on sports grid a new week in the National Football League
00:09:25begins tonight. It's week seven in New Orleans, between the Saints and the Broncos. We will talk
00:09:31about all of the players that are available or not in the big easy on this short week Thursday
00:09:37night football game. But Wednesday DRS the availability for the rest of the NFL getting
00:09:43ready for a new weekend two weeks ago, short week Thursday night football as the Giants hosted the
00:09:49Cowboys. Malik neighbors had a very promising first three quarters, and it was knocked out
00:09:54of the game with a concussion against the Cowboys. We have not seen him since that point back on the
00:10:01practice field for the first time for the G-Men yesterday in a red jersey, non-contact. He has
00:10:07made progress. He still remains in protocol, but the Giants are optimistic and they are hoping that
00:10:13he takes the next step for tomorrow, maybe being a full participant tomorrow being today at practice
00:10:20for New York. The Giants host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in MetLife Philly, a three-point
00:10:27road favorite. Yeah, it'd be great to get some of your best players back on the field. Also, they
00:10:31lose their left tackle, which is a devastating injury, but you do want to be preach patient. So
00:10:35I was joking to open the show. Hey, look, miss another week, help the Philadelphia Eagles out.
00:10:39That's all fine and good, but we got to be honest and have a conversation about what Malik neighbors
00:10:43is going to mean to the New York Jets, their team over the next five to six years. The worst thing
00:10:48you want is for him to come back and we're not, we're not saying it's going to be malpractice,
00:10:51like, oh, the doctor's clear to when they shouldn't have. They're being prudent. They
00:10:54already sat him the extra week. They're trying to get him to go through the protocols. And if he's
00:10:57medically cleared, technically he should play, but it's one of those where it's like, all right,
00:11:01we're going nowhere this year. And maybe if we give him an extra week off or even an extra two
00:11:06weeks off, just to make sure this clears out, he's 1000% healthy and ready to return. He's focused
00:11:11and ready to go because the last thing you want is him to play a game against the Philadelphia
00:11:15Eagles in a season for the Giants that will go nowhere to get two concussions right off the back.
00:11:20And then you're starting to talk about the long-term ramifications. Like we keep bringing
00:11:24up Tula Tagovailoa and when he's going to return as a key and integral part of the
00:11:28Miami Dolphins. That's all. I'm just overcautious in situations where the team is going nowhere.
00:11:32You have a flat out superstar probably over the next decade in the NFL. If he stays healthy,
00:11:38just don't ruin that man. Like the Giants fans, I don't know how much more they can take,
00:11:41but if neighbors goes back on the field this weekend and suffers another concussion right
00:11:45away, that's just a doomsday franchise at this point. Of course. And it's a doomsday scenario
00:11:51for anybody returning from a head injury. He will have to go through the steps of getting
00:11:56through concussion protocol to even be available to play on Sunday. If that is the Giants decision,
00:12:02but Malik neighbors off to a historic start. The first rookie rookie wide receiver in NFL history
00:12:08to have 25 grabs through his first four games. He had 35 receptions by the time he was bounced
00:12:15from that Thursday night game to end out September against Dallas. I guess that's now
00:12:20even three weeks ago, 12 grabs on 15 targets for 115 yards against the Cowboys. The RS wasn't all
00:12:29that prolific week. Number one, the Giants offense was not, they only scored six points,
00:12:34but from week two and on, he has been targeted at least 12 times in every game, at least eight
00:12:40grabs in every game, at least 78 receiving yards. He had three touchdowns on this season. He has
00:12:48been one of the offensive sparks for a Giants offense, still looking for it. Losing Andrew
00:12:54Thomas is I think larger than people truly understand. He has been sensational as one of
00:13:00those offensive tackles for the G-man never good as you're trying to keep Daniel Jones upright to
00:13:06find guys like Malik neighbors down the field. Donnie six and a half is the wind total for New
00:13:12York. It's pretty much where it was before the year got started. The outlook remains the same
00:13:17with or without Malik neighbors, frankly, on the football field. But after the historic start for
00:13:22neighbors, it was Jaden Daniels, his own historic start and odds on favorite to win NFL offensive
00:13:28rookie of the year. And then it was Malik neighbors, not all that far behind his former LSU
00:13:33teammate neighbors now at 14 to one. And Donnie more. So as we discussed earlier this week, after
00:13:39great performances out of getting Daniels, and of course, Kayla Williams on Sunday in London,
00:13:44it feels to be a race between one and two, the number one and two overall picks from the 2024
00:13:52NFL draft. If Malik neighbors returns, can he try to edge into that race right now?
00:13:58No, he can't. And it's, it's not fair to say that those other guys on that list aren't good
00:14:02football players, because they will be good football players. But the two up top have really
00:14:06separated themselves. And maybe it is just paint by numbers. Hey, look at this number one pick
00:14:09number two pick. Look at that. They're going toe to toe. We thought they would be very good
00:14:13quarterbacks. But the one thing we didn't know was how good those football teams would actually be.
00:14:17Washington looks like they're going to be a competent football team. Same thing with the
00:14:20Chicago Bears that adds on to it where the guy like Malik neighbors on the Giants. I don't know
00:14:24how competent they're going to be moving forward, which means can they challenge for division? No.
00:14:27Can they challenge for the playoffs? I don't think so either. And also he's down two games
00:14:31right off of the bat. That's never going to help the equation. But I do think neighbors
00:14:35is talented. Harrison jr is talented. He gets a concussion worthy is talented, but I don't think
00:14:39anybody Ben is going to challenge the top between Daniels and Williams. And by the way,
00:14:44I feel they're pretty much neck and neck. And next week in the NFL, when they line up toe to
00:14:49toe and play each other, that feels like an eliminator game where if I have a lead like
00:14:53Jaden Daniels at minus one 90, I win, I go to minus two 90. If I'm Caleb Williams, I'm behind
00:14:58at a plus 155. I win that game. I move to minus money at that point here. So I can't wait to
00:15:03watch that play out. But just a simple process of the rookies of the year. Those two quarterbacks
00:15:07have been everything and more than we thought they would be here living up to this point after
00:15:12six weeks, Caleb Williams and the bears on the by this week, Jaden Daniels and the commanders
00:15:18host Carolina as an eight and a half point favorite. The commanders already by week seven
00:15:24laying more than a touchdown. Speaking of other teams around the NFL and that wide receiver spot,
00:15:31Cooper cup, trying to make his way back to practice and return to the playing field
00:15:35for the LA Rams. Like the giants, the Rams win total is six and a half after week six LA on the
00:15:43by last week, but the Rams entered this year, Donnie, where they went total of eight and a half
00:15:48in the over had the juice seen as a playoff contender once more in the NFC. It has been a
00:15:54debilitating injury filled start to this season for Los Angeles. If Cooper cup returns and Puka
00:16:01Nakua starts to make his way back as well. What's your outlook for Los Angeles the remainder of the
00:16:06way? The outlook isn't very good. Let's just say it does come back this week. A lot of people would
00:16:10just beat up the Raiders any team, but after that the Vikings and the Seahawks on the road,
00:16:14Dolphins, probably the two attack on my lower back. You still got the Eagles on there,
00:16:17the bills, the 49ers. It doesn't look good here overall. So whether or not he comes back,
00:16:21if you've got a fantasy team, fantastic. If you want to beat them on a weekly basis to get yards
00:16:25and touchdown, that's great for the Rams future. It doesn't make any difference. They are buried
00:16:30on the season. It is pretty crazy. One of the more stunning lines for Sunday's slate. Probably
00:16:35the Rams, a six and a half point home favorite against the Raiders as a one and four football
00:16:41Thursday night football. Next week, number seven of the 2024 NFL season gets started tonight in
00:16:48the big easy. The Saints play host to the Broncos. So many storylines entering tonight's game in New
00:16:54Orleans is Sean Payton makes his return to Nola against the former organization that he was at
00:17:01the helm of for a decade and a half, but that's one component of this short week, Thursday night
00:17:07football game to kick off week number seven. The other DRS is how shorthanded and banged up
00:17:14new Orleans is of course, Derek Carr injured the oblique two weeks ago against Kansas city.
00:17:20Spencer Rattler, the fifth round pick at a South Carolina made his starting debut last week for the
00:17:26Saints, a great second quarter, but everywhere else they got hammered by the Buccaneers and
00:17:32Rattler did throw multiple interceptions and that's when he had at least to start the game.
00:17:38Chris Olave and Rashid Shahid, but Donnie, both Olave and Shahid injured in that football game
00:17:46against Tampa. Both are out tonight and Shahid will have to undergo surgery before he could get
00:17:53back on the field. An interesting component of this offense, Taysom Hill remains doubtful
00:17:59dealing with a rib injury on the other side, also in concussion protocol, one of the best
00:18:04young corners, or maybe just cornerbacks in all of the NFL. Pat Sertan is set to be out for Denver.
00:18:11A lot of key missing pieces for tonight's Thursday night football game in new Orleans.
00:18:17We've had some pretty good Thursday night and primetime matchups here on the season. This isn't
00:18:20one of those, and this is sometimes one of those poster child games are why you should not be
00:18:24playing football on a Thursday night, regardless. Yes, you get a lot of money. Everybody's going to
00:18:28watch regardless, but you're talking about banged up players that might be able to make it on Sunday
00:18:33that have zero chance to actually make it on Thursday night. And now you have two rookie
00:18:37quarterbacks starting on a Thursday night. One of the rookie quarterbacks talking about Spencer
00:18:41Rattler. I went back and watched the game last week. He actually performed quite well. Didn't
00:18:45look like he was scared for the moment. They let him throw 40 times, had some nice athletic plays
00:18:49out of the pocket, but certainly it's still a rookie quarterback. You are going to make mistakes
00:18:53and he did that. Now in the short work week here, he's going to make more mistakes tonight.
00:18:57Same thing with Bo Nix. Don't let him throw 45 times a game for 116 yards and one interception
00:19:02and no touchdowns. These guys are going to try to work their way through it, but just from a talent
00:19:06deficit, Spencer Rattler is really going through it. Now, granted, you're not going to have a lot
00:19:10of high numbers here for those wide receivers and tight ends and running backs for the New
00:19:14Orleans Saints because we're not expecting a high scoring game, but there are some advantages that
00:19:18you can play that will certainly get to, but it does stink where you line this game up and say,
00:19:22all right, let me watch these two rookie quarterbacks get after it and say like,
00:19:24who are they throwing to? Never heard of that guy. Can he step up? That's what we're getting
00:19:28in primetime football tonight. Yeah, it is going to be the case, DRS. There is the storyline and
00:19:34narrative component of this football game. As we know, as Sean Payton makes his return to the Big
00:19:39Easy, that might be the most compelling pregame narrative entering. This is week seven. It's our
00:19:45sixth short week Thursday night football game. It is the first one as we near the middle part of this
00:19:52NFL season that is no longer a divisional duel with the added magnitude of a short week Thursday
00:19:59night game. The last two weeks have gone over. The first three stayed well under, and you saw
00:20:05a total of 36 and a half. We are not expecting a ton of offense tonight as Bo Nix leads the Broncos
00:20:14and Spencer Rattler leads out the Saints. Donnie, the first two games of this year, Bo Nix did not
00:20:20look great against either the Seahawks or the Steelers through multiple interceptions. Then
00:20:25Denver went on to win three consecutive games. He did not throw a pick last week against the
00:20:30Chargers. One pick, albeit to two touchdowns as they came up short in mile high against the
00:20:37Chargers. This just the second time this season that Denver is booked as a favorite. The Broncos
00:20:44have been a good cover team so far this season. They are three and two ATS. They did cover and win
00:20:51in their only game as a favorite in mile high a couple of weeks ago against the Las Vegas Raiders
00:20:57late about two and a half, three easily winning that game by more than two touchdowns. It is going
00:21:03to be difficult to find those betting edges tonight, Donnie, especially with a road team and
00:21:08a rookie quarterback as a road favorite on a short week with a decent bit of travel to New Orleans.
00:21:15And also you're looking at a game from a perspective of I do think the Denver Broncos
00:21:19are a better team. You open up the first two games lost to the Seahawks and the Steelers,
00:21:22three straight wins as you said. You did get beat up. I don't care if that 23 to 16 score says it
00:21:26was 23 to nothing last week before they got a couple late touchdowns, but I think Bo Nix has
00:21:31much more under his cap right now than you do. Take a look at Spencer Rattler and also you have
00:21:36much more weapons, not really saying a ton for the weapons of the Denver Broncos, but everybody
00:21:40has heard for the New Orleans Saints. The Saints are on a slide right now and also Sean Payton's
00:21:44coming back to the dome. They know how important this game is to Sean Payton. I'm not saying you
00:21:49play one win one for the Gipper because that's what you do, but I just think it looks like a
00:21:53rookie quarterback on a Thursday night. How could you ever take it tonight? It's probably that night
00:21:56to take it. Yeah, that is probably a component of our handicap as we dive deeper into it in hour two
00:22:03which starts next. Welcome to hour number two live right here on this Thursday on the early
00:22:09line on Sports Grid. He is Donnie. I am Ben. Two more hours to go up until 11 a.m. Eastern. A new
00:22:16week starts tonight in the Big Easy in the National Football League. The Saints host the Broncos
00:22:22and their former head coach for 15 seasons, that of course is Sean Payton. Plenty of previews and
00:22:30breakdowns for Thursday night football are in store. We'll look at a new week in college
00:22:36football on the horizon. If last Saturday was sensational, if it's even possible DRS to one
00:22:42up the greatness that we have seen in college football this season so far, Saturday might be
00:22:48the one to deliver and of course we will get you set for everything you need to know around the
00:22:54league championship series. A doubleheader in October, first in Cleveland. It's game three of
00:23:01the ALCS. Can the Guardians return home and eke out their first victory of the LCS? Will the Dodgers
00:23:08take a commanding 3-1 series lead in game four tonight or will the Mets even it up back in
00:23:15Queens? So much to get to here, Donnie. It's a beautiful Thursday in October. It really is, Ben.
00:23:21You want to take a victory lap with me right now? Let's join hands and run around the track with our
00:23:25hands up here because you know what? I feel bad for Georgia football, like Athens. Saturday night
00:23:30you're playing Texas, the top team in the country. You already got a loss. Your season's over, man.
00:23:35Why even watch this football game? No! We're all watching this game because Georgia wins.
00:23:41They're going to the college football playoff. That's the way it should be. Anybody out there
00:23:45once again who said it's stupid that there's a 12-team college football playoff coming,
00:23:50don't you dare watch Texas and Georgia. And if you were a Georgia fan in the SEC, I don't know if
00:23:55I like this here, you wouldn't be needing to watch this game because your season would already be
00:24:00over and it's not now. So congratulations to us. Congratulations to the people that love the
00:24:05expanded playoffs because you know what happens now? We watch this game Saturday night and get
00:24:09excited because national championship implications are on the line when they wouldn't be in previous
00:24:16seasons. How about that? I like this guy. I like this guy that takes victory laps in college
00:24:22football based on the 12-team CFP expansion. Texas is the number one team in the country
00:24:29and the national title favorites at plus 350. Georgia is the number five team in the country
00:24:35with the third best price to win a championship this year at plus 490. And an underdog are the
00:24:42dogs for the first time in over three years. Plenty to get to in college football in our second
00:24:49half hour of this second hour. But we start DRS with one of our favorite games. It's time for
00:24:55buy-and-sell. Here as we get ready for a new week in the NFL. We looked at these odds ever so briefly
00:25:01in our opening hour. Offensive rookie of the year. We asked Ken Malik Navers, third best price at 14-1
00:25:07if he returns to the field this week for the New York Giants. Get back into the race
00:25:12because it seems as though it is a two-guy race. A two-quarterback race where currently the number
00:25:18two overall pick Washington's Jaden Daniels is in front and the odds-on favorite of the number
00:25:24one overall selection Chicago's Caleb Williams. You see the stats right there. Jaden Daniels has
00:25:31been historic. Caleb Williams after a struggle to start in his first two and a half three games of
00:25:37this season has looked really good the last three weeks for Chicago with the Bears on a three-game
00:25:44win streak. So as Caleb Williams continues to perform and get adjusted to the NFL and as Jaden
00:25:50Daniels continues what is already a historic rookie campaign for the Commanders buy or sell,
00:25:57Donny right side, Jaden Daniels should be a minus money offensive rookie of the year favorite.
00:26:05As we sit here on October 17, 2024, absolutely I'm buying this because if you just look at the
00:26:10statistics, 1,726 total yards to 1,486 total yards in the favor of Jaden Daniels. Ten total
00:26:17touchdowns to nine total touchdowns, two interceptions to five interceptions and also
00:26:22sometimes we just look at singular games here. Both of these guys have four wins on the season
00:26:27but coming into the season the expectations for me were much, much higher in Chicago
00:26:32for team total wins to start the season than the Washington Commanders. I thought Chicago
00:26:37would be good this year because of Caleb Williams and the talent they surrounded him with. I wasn't
00:26:41sure what I was going to get out of a new coaching staff in Washington, a new offensive philosophy
00:26:45here in Washington, a new quarterback and a lot of moving parts here and I've been quite pleasantly
00:26:50surprised by the Washington Commanders. But when you look at Heisman moments right, you need that
00:26:55big game in prime time in front of a national audience to say whoa this kid has arrived,
00:27:01Jaden Daniels has already had that. That Cincinnati game on Monday night he was damn
00:27:04near perfect throwing dimes all over the plates and essentially turning the lights out in
00:27:09Cincinnati. That gives him that little pedestal moment to say this kid absolutely has it and
00:27:14it's not been just a flash in the pan like hey highlight here, highlight there. This kid has
00:27:18been sensational making reads all over the place, being efficient with the football,
00:27:22making plays with his feet when he has to and it's been great in front of the media.
00:27:27Things will change, there's a long way to go but right now Ben I'm buying Jaden Daniels,
00:27:31I'm buying the Commanders right now and he deserves to be the favorite right now in the
00:27:36rookie of the year race. Deserves to be the favorite in my estimation, deserves to have a
00:27:41minus in front of his price but how much longer DRS is that minus there? Is Jaden Daniels even
00:27:50the offensive rookie of the year favorite? We would expect it to at least stand until week
00:27:55number eight. You're talking about the monumental showdown one versus two in week number eight
00:28:01between the Bears and the Commanders. Chicago on a bye after the return from London and a huge
00:28:08victory, a blowout of Jacksonville a week ago because Donnie when you look at the last two
00:28:13games for Caleb Williams this is the promise of the number one overall selection against Carolina
00:28:2020 at 29, 304 yards, two passing touchdowns, 34 on the ground, clean, smooth, efficient, the Bears
00:28:28absolutely blow out the Panthers. All right it's Carolina, how will you guys do finally away from
00:28:33the Windy City where they enter week six DRS three and two overall but all three wins at home
00:28:39against lesser competition booked as the favorite in every one. They go across the pond to a
00:28:45Jacksonville team that only had one win but coming off its only win of the year and a Jaguars
00:28:51organization of course very comfortable playing in London. The Bears closed as a slight underdog
00:28:58so how do the Bears respond 23 of 29 for Caleb Williams his best completion percentage in a game
00:29:04this year four touchdowns 226 yards becoming the first Bears rookie in franchise history
00:29:13for an organization Donnie that has struggled to develop and cultivate quarterback talent
00:29:18especially early in their careers became the first Bears starting quarterback as a rookie
00:29:25to throw for four touchdowns. Caleb Williams is finding his groove in this Bears offense three
00:29:32game winning streak he has been sacked only seven times he was sacked 13 times in the first three
00:29:38games of the year seven touchdowns to one interception in the four wins for Chicago
00:29:45this season of course it has not looked as good in the two losses two touchdowns to four ints
00:29:51but if Caleb Williams keeps Chicago on this trend those odds with the narrative behind are going to
00:29:58grow tighter and tighter in that distinction here very soon. Now look if we're just looking at who
00:30:04have you played so far Caleb Williams not all that impressive on this street so far the Titans
00:30:09are a bad football team yes you played the Texans you played him close but you lost that game the
00:30:12Colts leave a lot to be desired the Rams Panthers and Jaguars terrible now you're going to face this
00:30:16commander's team and let's just say he beats them he's probably going to go to and if he has a good
00:30:20football game maybe be the favorite but the reason I talked about member Josh Allen don't buy just
00:30:25yet on this tough win streak here and now he gets a top flight wide receiver now it's the time to
00:30:30buy in if you take a look at that schedule for the Chicago Bears next couple weeks here commanders
00:30:35you can win that game Cardinals you can win that game and the Patriots he'll be riding high but Ben
00:30:40look at the close after this season for the Chicago Bears Packers Vikings Lions 49ers Vikings
00:30:47Lions Seahawks and Packers that is going to be an unbelievable gauntlet maybe as tough as you will
00:30:54see in the NFL so maybe starting to look even more towards Jade and Daniels because that schedule
00:31:00that's going to be amazing now granted it can work in your favor if he wins his majority of
00:31:04those football games but if he doesn't he's going to start to lose a little bit in that rookie of
00:31:08the year race all six of the NFC North games for the Bears this year in the final eight weeks of
00:31:15this regular season I think we can both agree a quarterback though is going to win offensive
00:31:20rookie of the year more around the NFL next we continue by ourselves to get you started for a
00:31:26new week in the National Football League that kicks off tonight on this Thursday in New Orleans
00:31:31between the Broncos and the Saints TRS we just talked about the number one overall pick from
00:31:37this past draft in April Caleb Williams his competition individually with a number two
00:31:42overall selection Jaden Daniels for that offensive rookie of the year favorite and potential winner
00:31:48I do just want to remind people oftentimes it is difficult for a quarterback to win this award six
00:31:55of the 10 winners in this past decade have played a non-quarterback position three of the past six
00:32:02however have been a quarterback and we all saw what CJ Stroud did a season ago by this point week
00:32:07seven DRS pretty much had already inscribed his name into that trophy so that is now the expectation
00:32:15and so far Jaden Daniels and as of the last two to three weeks Caleb Williams have been living up
00:32:21to that expectation however there is also what happens often when you are drafted early to a poor
00:32:29franchise that does not have a lot of talent or a congruent coaching staff or good leadership and
00:32:35you can be in a miserable situation that is of course what has been happening to the number one
00:32:42overall pick from 2023 NFL draft Bryce Young who was benched entering week three in favor of the
00:32:49veteran Andy Dalton who won the first game for Carolina whoop dee the Panthers DRS after being
00:32:55the worst team in the NFL and only two wins a season ago are now just one and five they have
00:33:01been booked as an underdog in every single game all 23 since the start of last season whether it
00:33:09was Frank Reich as the head coach interim head guys in Carolina or now Dave Canales in his rookie
00:33:15season as the head coach they are just 5 16 and 2 against the spread as an underdog they look
00:33:25lifeless so as we show you both quarterbacks in consideration in Charlotte Bryce Young looked
00:33:31abysmal there is no sugarcoating that in his first two starts this season Andy Dalton does at least
00:33:37provide a spark to this Panthers offense all four games he has started Carolina has gone over the
00:33:44pregame total but it's not about going over totals heck it might not even really be about
00:33:49winning games it's just about being competitive DRS so does Carolina have its best quarterback
00:33:55out there for that buy or sell it's time for the Panthers to start Bryce Young once again
00:34:01bye it's time to start Bryce Young once again now hear me out how this plays out this isn't a rookie
00:34:06season for Bryce Young he was really bad last year had an entire offseason new coaching staff started
00:34:11maybe even worse than he was last year Ben and that Saints and Chargers game there was no doubt
00:34:16in my mind from a franchise perspective you had to sit him down because you lose the locker room
00:34:21if you believe that the players aren't putting their best foot forward specifically early in
00:34:24the season they come out with a victory with a terrible Raiders franchise but now it's three
00:34:29straight losses your season is over now it's time to get back to analyzing who can actually be on
00:34:35your roster moving forward and that includes your young quarterback that you drafted number one
00:34:39overall just a year previous he has to play and also there's a disconnect here between the
00:34:45ownership group the general manager and the head coach because as I talk about Mike Tomlin it's his
00:34:50job to win football games it's not his job to actually plan for the future and see what's best
00:34:55a coach's only job is to win as many games as I can and be competitive on a week-to-week basis
00:35:01you got that after the win with the Raiders now your season is done and from an ownership group
00:35:05you must have to come to your general manager and coach and say your job is going to be safe
00:35:10I need Bryce Young in there because if I have him in there we can evaluate him if he stinks the rest
00:35:15of the way he's not going to be on our football team anymore we can make decisions opposite you're
00:35:19not doing the team the city or the franchise anything here by starting Andy Dalton he's
00:35:25not your future guy he might even win an extra game or two that could ruin your draft position
00:35:29for a chance to get another quarterback in the draft next year so just to keep it simple
00:35:34evaluation mode is now underway let the young kid play he doesn't throw a single touchdown pass
00:35:39the rest of the way you obviously know exactly where you're going in the future Andy Dalton
00:35:43playing does a disservice to that franchise or what they need to understand they need to do in
00:35:49the future Ben completely agree DRS you turn back to Bryce Young you worry about the guy his
00:35:55confidence looks shot I'm not sure it's going to improve if Dave Canales walks into the meeting
00:36:00room today and says hey you want to get back out there for us maybe we can at least keep it keep a
00:36:05game within a single score I don't know how it gets better for Bryce Young and you do really feel
00:36:11bad for him maybe he finds a new situation like Justin Fields did I guess but now he's benched
00:36:16I don't really know it really does stink for a guy that I think yeah I do really think that hopefully
00:36:22there is some promise on the other side but for Carolina it's about figuring out if this guy even
00:36:28deserves to see a third year within your franchise maybe he looks decent but he's not
00:36:33your franchise quarterback there's some trade value for Bryce Young entering 2025 in another
00:36:39NFL team where he can find a greener pasture on the other side of this season but I do believe
00:36:46DRS it is time for the Panthers to turn back to Bryce Young listen it's been abysmal he has thrown
00:36:53for more than 250 yards once in his 18 career NFL starts it came in the second to last game
00:37:01against Green Bay a year ago he has thrown for 161 yards or less in each of his two starts this
00:37:07year 11 of the last 12 starts he has made Bryce Young has thrown for less than 200 yards those
00:37:14are unfathomable numbers if you are going to even be a mediocre starting quarterback in the NFL but
00:37:22it's time to figure it out and the key DRS if Bryce Young is not your starting quarterback and
00:37:28if Carolina ends up with a top three top five pick they are not trading it away to Chicago
00:37:34that resulted in Caleb Williams being drafted it is their pick this year and if you need a
00:37:40new quarterback there you go you have a top three top five selection to get that done plus 344
00:37:47Carolina second shortest number to have the worst record in the NFL the Patriots have that shortest
00:37:54price now let's turn quickly to Indianapolis we can continue the conversation on the other side
00:38:00Anthony Richardson his de facto rookie year where injuries have plagued AR now in his time in the
00:38:07NFL for Indianapolis he has made four starts this year he has thrown four touchdowns to six
00:38:13interceptions has looked inconsistent at best and then you turn to Joe Flacco and Shane Steichen's
00:38:19offense he has looked incredibly consistent two starts seven touchdowns to only one pick a one
00:38:25and one record Indianapolis a win last week as a road underdog in Nashville so Donnie we're going
00:38:32to talk about who Indy should turn to at the starting quarterback spot on the other side of
00:38:37the break in a Super Bowl rematch before the Super Bowl rematch in week seven it's all next
00:38:43live right here on the early line we get you set for a new week in the NFL having quarterback
00:38:49conversations should a veteran remain a starter or a young quarterback that needs to prove it and
00:38:55just gain that game experience in the NFL DRS both you and I are buying the idea that Carolina
00:39:01should turn back to Bryce Young for the future of him potentially being the face of the franchise
00:39:07the Panthers outlook moving forward as well how about in Indianapolis where Shane Steichen with
00:39:14a veteran and experienced backup can win you football games and look magnificent offensively
00:39:21or should they turn back to Anthony Richardson who was on the field yesterday a four-participant
00:39:27on track to start this week for Indy as the Colts host the Miami Dolphins the Finns
00:39:33off the by Indianapolis a three-point home favorite inside Lucas Oil again Anthony Richardson
00:39:40this year has started four games four touchdowns to six interceptions not a good ratio Joe Flacco
00:39:46and his two starts seven touchdowns to only one single pick leading the Colts to their second
00:39:52win of the year on the road this week as an underdog this past week in Nashville against
00:39:57the Titans buy or sell DRS the Colts should stick with Joe Flacco at quarterback
00:40:03I'm selling wide receiver in that room I'm buying the heck out of that because I want the guy that's
00:40:0960 yards down the field on a rope and hit me wherever I'm at as opposed to a quarterback
00:40:13where I'm running routes like George Pickens on the Steelers going like I don't even know I want
00:40:17to run this route with Justin Fields he's never going to be if I'm wide open I'm never going to
00:40:20see this football it is demoralizing for a wide out but you have to understand the end game here
00:40:25if you find out that Anthony Richardson is a really good quarterback boy you got it made for
00:40:29a couple years in the NFL if you find that he's not that quarterback you can quickly head back to
00:40:33the draft the one thing I will say is Shane Steichen is an amazing football coach it says a lot
00:40:38about a coach where if he has a real talented team and can guide him in the right direction yeah look
00:40:42he's you know leader of men you can do that but when you have backup quarterbacks constantly week
00:40:46to week last year and this year and you're still a competitive football team with all those injuries
00:40:52that's pretty impressive he just needs to settle on a quarterback and find out who that's going to
00:40:56be who will win with either one of them but the upside is Joe Flacco is not the quarterback over
00:41:00the next couple years that's going to take the Colts and lead them into the Super Bowl Anthony
00:41:04Richardson can be that guy with an asterisk right now I don't think he's going to be that guy because
00:41:09he can't stay on the field you can't even evaluate him he gets injured way too often for me but I
00:41:13always look at them the health of the franchise is not saying hey fans we're going to win an extra
00:41:18three games with Joe Flacco get bounced quickly in the playoffs the future is we drafted a quarterback
00:41:23high we think he can be something we owe it to him to get him on the field as soon as possible and
00:41:27get to evaluate him because let's just say Benny plays two more games and leaves with a fractured
00:41:31shoulder and is out the rest of the way now you're looking for a quarterback because it's not Anthony
00:41:36Richardson's fault some guys are just injury prone and get injured he's a giant at quarterback
00:41:40but his physicality makes him so intriguing but that physicality gets him in trouble way too many
00:41:45times with injuries here I do think you have to play him if he is available and healthy I don't
00:41:51know if it equates to more victories but the evaluation process must be completed by the end
00:41:55of this year before you start getting into those extra years we got to pick up the you know fourth
00:42:00and fifth year you might have to franchise tag them you got to start that process sooner than
00:42:04later Ben yeah completely agree DRS AR started only four games last year completing just two
00:42:11and a lot of the issues for Anthony Richardson that were a problem in college that were supposed
00:42:17to turn around in the NFL not often how it works inefficiencies and incompletions have been on
00:42:24display here to start off 2024 he's got to be your guy I understand it should have all happened
00:42:30last year had he not had the season-ending shoulder injury but he's got to be your guy to figure out
00:42:35what you have at the quarterback spot so I am selling the idea that Joe Flacco should remain
00:42:40the starting quarterback despite the success that Flacco has had magnificently either in Cleveland
00:42:46a year ago or this year so far with Indianapolis DRS week seven Super Bowl 58 rematch in Santa
00:42:54Clara between the 49ers and the Chiefs as it stands right now both Casey and San Francisco
00:43:01favored to win their conferences both have the two shortest prices to win Super Bowl 59 Casey
00:43:08those shorter in both five to one to win the Lombardi this year their third consecutive
00:43:13seven to one for San Francisco Casey fresh off a buy a perfect five and oh San Francisco
00:43:19just three and three buy or sell the 49ers and Chiefs will play in the Super Bowl again this
00:43:27season yeah let's sell and let's sell again where neither one of these football teams Ben actually
00:43:32makes it to the Super Bowl because they're not the best teams in either one of the divisions give me
00:43:37the Lions rising up and getting to the Super Bowl and give me the Bills and or the Ravens making the
00:43:42Super Bowl out of the AFC sell it across the board baby yeah I sell it the Chiefs have a better shot
00:43:49don't believe in the 49ers as of right now but no back-to-back Super Bowl champ which Casey is
00:43:55we've seen that eight previous times that NFL history has even reached a third consecutive
00:44:01Super Bowl the 49ers a slight favorite for the Super Bowl rematch in Santa Clara on Sunday
00:44:06Thursday night football next Thursday night football as we transition now to the National
00:44:11Football League kicks off week seven tonight in the Big Easy a storyline game for a game on paper
00:44:18that does not look all that appealing we are kind of reaching the middle part of this season
00:44:23where short week Thursday night football games lack a little bit of luster they know how to do
00:44:28with DRS those schedule makers of course in the NFL the first five divisional dual significant
00:44:34matchups that have an important implication even outside of a short week game this one from a
00:44:40narrative perspective as we will break down certainly does but in terms of the matchup
00:44:46Denver a two and a half point road favorite in NOLA against the Saints total is minimal at 36 and
00:44:53a half Donnie will break down the matchup in just a second but here is why this game has a little bit
00:44:58of added juice that would be Sean Payton making his return now in his second year at the helm in
00:45:05Denver to his former home in New Orleans Sean Payton spent 15 years as the Saints head coach
00:45:12from the 2006 season through 2021 of course he was suspended for the entirety of 2012 won a Super
00:45:19Bowl with the Saints back in 2009 in those 15 years as the active head coach led the Saints
00:45:25to double-digit wins nine times he is the winningest head coach in the history of the Saints
00:45:31he is the longest tenured head coach in the history of this New Orleans franchise that dates
00:45:35back to 1967 what will the reception be for Sean Payton back in the big easy tonight well they
00:45:43probably give him a nice cheer to start the game and then once that game starts here you're going
00:45:47to boom all the way through because you're always going to be rooting for your hometown team but
00:45:50from a perspective for me I don't really think the fans like hey Sean Payton's coming home it's going
00:45:54to be interesting to see but Sean Payton going home knowing that he wants to beat the franchise
00:45:58that he was with for so long and also a meaningful win which will really help the Denver Broncos out
00:46:03I think it means a lot more from that side of it so fans coming on because I remember also you know
00:46:07Philadelphia Eagles fans Andy Reid coming home was like yeah we want to see big red and all that
00:46:11stuff and all the years of joy that he gave us never able to get us over the hump different
00:46:15with Sean Payton because he was able to win a Super Bowl he'll get cheered there same thing
00:46:19with Doug Peterson came back to Philadelphia when the Jacksonville Jaguars were in town kind of
00:46:22standing ovation before the game brought him a Super Bowl but once that game starts you hope that
00:46:27he gets embarrassed and you win your game 35 to nothing at that point but the homecoming
00:46:30perspective I think means a lot for Payton as opposed to the fans and the Saints themselves
00:46:36it certainly does right there's not bad blood it was Sean Payton that walked away from coaching he
00:46:42was a broadcaster for a year and then went to Denver in fact for the Broncos even a higher Sean
00:46:48Payton as their head coach they had to trade with New Orleans and give the Saints draft assets
00:46:54because Payton still was under contract with the Saints having retired not having been fired
00:47:01or ending his contract out in the terms of it so that will add a magnitude to this game now as we
00:47:08see Denver is a two and a half point road favorite short week Thursday night football matchup of two
00:47:13rookie quarterbacks Bo Nicks for Denver Spencer Rattler in his second career game for New Orleans
00:47:19and a minimal number at 36 and a half do you add the Sean Payton homecoming to your handicap at all
00:47:27uh not necessarily but I do think he's the better coach than Dennis Allen I do think
00:47:30it's a better football team than New Orleans Saints so that's more of the handicap for me
00:47:34but there is added incentive in this game because you know sometimes we're the locker room itself
00:47:39you understand big events here when a football player is returning to play his previous team
00:47:43the quarterback's always going to want to take care of him and say you know what I know what
00:47:46this means to you I'm not going to force you the football but if you're there I'm going to make sure
00:47:50you get it here same thing with Sean Payton the last thing he wants is to go on a Thursday night
00:47:53football game with all the hype of him returning back and the Saints come away with a victory 24
00:47:57to 13 that would be embarrassing for him and his teammates know that and so does the organization
00:48:02so I'm not saying they're going to try harder just because of that because they're professionals
00:48:06they're trying hard every game but it is a little bit of that edge where you know how big of a game
00:48:10and before the season started hey we're playing the Saints this year where do we have them oh this
00:48:14one's going to be on the road you know that he circled the calendar going like this is going to
00:48:18be an emotional week it's going to be a short week here we better make sure that we're buttoned up
00:48:22for this one 36 and a half the total DRS this will be the fifth game in seven for Denver this year
00:48:29with a pre-game total sub 40 New Orleans who went under an 11 to 17 games a season ago is now over
00:48:37in four of six this is the first time the Saints have seen a pre-game over under that is less than
00:48:4340 total points just how much offense do we get in this short week Thursday night football game
00:48:48without a ton of key contributors offensively on either side yeah this is going to be a tough one
00:48:54to try to gaze because it's one of those if you out think yourself in the games up 17 10 but that's
00:48:58exactly what it was supposed to do but these young quarterback they let them rip all season long both
00:49:03Knicks and also and that singular start here from Spencer Rattler the good thing about them they're
00:49:07both athletic too they can make plays with their feet and also they can make big plays in the
00:49:11passing game but big plays in the passing game that lead to turnovers that might be good for the
00:49:15over we look at the rookie quarterback matchup okay Thursday night football starts week number
00:49:21seven in New Orleans Bo Nicks makes his seventh career NFL start in his rookie campaign he was
00:49:28the 12th overall pick Spencer Rattler was a fifth round selection he makes his second NFL appearance
00:49:35tonight his second career start both quarterbacks DRS a passing yards prop less than two bills
00:49:42191 and a half for Bo Nicks 182 and a hook for Spencer Rattler Nicks actually a slightly higher
00:49:50price to throw an interception that's just kind of mean in favor of Spencer Rattler but both favored
00:49:56to throw an interception tonight what can we expect out of the two rookie signal callers for
00:50:03either side I don't think you can expect a lot I think you can hope for a lot at this point because
00:50:08if you just look at the New Orleans Saints they're not a great football team as is their offensive
00:50:12line is injured and it stinks Spencer Rattler's going to start his second professional football
00:50:17game after getting beat last week 51 to 27 now grant a little bit of an anomaly it's a four-point
00:50:22game in the fourth quarter got away from him but when you're saying to a rookie this is and again
00:50:26let's equate it Ben to the start of the season hey Caleb Williams is coming in as a Heisman
00:50:30trophy winning quarterback we're going to surround him with some of the best wide receivers you can
00:50:33get hey you know what rookie's going to make some mistakes but these guys are going to be open
00:50:37and making plays Spencer Rattler enters into this game with Bob Means Wilson Jr. Tipton and Johnson
00:50:44at tight end Alvin Kamara his only hope and you don't think the Denver Broncos know that now the
00:50:49Denver Broncos down the number one corner in the top five cornerback in the league that should help
00:50:52some but for a guy that's not really used to being on the same page with a lot of players he's not
00:50:57going to get a lot of breakthrough like you know what let me throw this 18 yard you know deep slant
00:51:02route here that my guy can take it to the distance you're just hoping these guys are running the right
00:51:06route and you know what the play call is at this point that's what makes it tough from their side
00:51:10the Denver Broncos they've already been through it weeks and weeks and weeks of Bo Nicks Bo Nicks
00:51:14won that competition in training camp won that locker room over and away they go Rattler's in
00:51:19because Carr is hurt and I'm not saying Rattler can't be efficient tonight and have a decent
00:51:23performance but the odds been stacked against him for sure yeah certainly so listen Spencer
00:51:30Rattler was not bad last week 22 of 40 in that matchup against Tampa threw for 243 a touchdown
00:51:38albeit with multiple interceptions Bo Nicks started his first two career games throwing
00:51:44multiple picks in both Denver went on a three-game win streak did not throw an interception did throw
00:51:50a pick last week with two touchdowns but a pick last week and a lopsided game that doesn't look
00:51:56all that lopsided against the Chargers but Bo Nicks the R.S. in six starts has thrown for more
00:52:02than 200 in four of those he did throw for 60 in a win against the New York Jets that loss is going
00:52:09to I think haunt the Jets all year but that's a different story for a different day my bet on Bo
00:52:15Nicks was over his season-long prop before the year got started 28 50 in a hook the guy is
00:52:21averaging just a tick above a buck 80 per game and he's still on pace to break through 3 000 so I'm
00:52:28good there Donnie I do agree with your sentiment in tonight's game that Spencer Rattler is going to
00:52:35have a long leash just because there's not all that much offensively but Denver is the fourth
00:52:42best uh total defense in the fourth best scoring defense in the NFL and yes without Patrick Sertan
00:52:48the second that is going to take a hit but Riley Moss on the other side has been sensational for
00:52:53Denver hey you like Cooper Dejean keep an eye on Riley Moss tonight yeah R.S. for the Broncos I do
00:52:59think Spencer Rattler will be able to air the football out which goes into our next point Donnie
00:53:05Javante Williams for Denver and Alvin Kamara who of course has been really good this year for New
00:53:10Orleans yeah I don't think we're going to open up the passing games let's just say in the first
00:53:13and second quarter and quite frankly I don't think either one of these teams has the ability to run
00:53:17away from the other team so those two running backs will certainly be in play for most of the
00:53:21night the one thing I do like about this is rookie quarterbacks in pressure situations sometimes they
00:53:26make one read sometimes they get to their second very rarely they scan in the entire field for
00:53:31their third and fourth reads on the back side which you take a look at the Fandul sportsbook
00:53:35the rushing props tonight not for the running backs but for the quarterbacks two athletic guys
00:53:40Bo Nix 26 and a half Spencer Rattler 20 and a half I think both of them get over that number
00:53:45and specifically like to see it if it is a lower scoring game where both of these football teams
00:53:49are close together and nobody gets a double digit lead the quarterbacks will make plays with their
00:53:54feet if they're not trusting their arm or what they see and these guys aren't pocket statues
00:53:58they got some athletic ability they should be able to run in this game yeah Alvin Kamara seven
00:54:04total touchdowns this year DRS did score last week in Rattler's debut but only 18 touches for
00:54:10just 64 scrimmage yards probably has to be better and we do need to show this graphic here take a
00:54:17look at who is going to be on the receiving end of any potential completions tonight for Denver we
00:54:24know some of those names Cortland Sutton Devon Bailey even Troy Franklin Nix's former teammate
00:54:29in Oregon Bub Means Bub Means has the highest receiving yards prop for New Orleans we'll
00:54:37continue to break it down when our three starts next welcome to our number three our third and
00:54:42final here on this Thursday on the early line on SportsGrid all across the Spades Grizz network he
00:54:49is Donnie right side I am Ben Stevens week number seven of this NFL campaign kicks off tonight in
00:54:55NOLA it's the Saints hosting the Broncos and their former head coach in Sean Payton new New Orleans
00:55:01head coach at least into his third season was Sean Payton's defensive coordinator for six years of
00:55:08course that is Dennis Allen how does familiarity the atmosphere tonight in the Big Easy factor into
00:55:15our handicap for a short week Thursday night football game with a couple of guys out there
00:55:19that maybe you haven't heard of two rookie quarterbacks Spencer Rattler makes his second
00:55:24career start for New Orleans and the guys he is throwing the football to tonight will update you
00:55:30on who they are in just a moment but DRS of course we will continue to get you set for this huge
00:55:39Thursday in October a double header of Major League Baseball postseason action first a little
00:55:45bit after 5 p.m. Eastern time to the land we go for the first time in the ALCS as the home team
00:55:51Cleveland looks for its first win in the LCS against the New York Yankees the pinstripes
00:55:57eight commanding 2-0 series lead winning both rather comfortably in the Bronx to start off
00:56:02the American League Championship Series it's game number four elsewhere in New York in Queens as
00:56:08the Mets host the Dodgers LA winning yesterday eight zip the Dodgers up two games to one can
00:56:14the Mets even it after four games that is the question so much to get to here in this third hour
00:56:21yeah the Guardians hoping that Java Chamberlain takes the mound and the moths and the flies come
00:56:25out of nowhere to disrupt that series and get the Guardians back into play I like there's a
00:56:30couple games tonight those two in baseball I think there's some good sides on both of those also some
00:56:34RBI chances maybe some basic chances to get a look right here and also a lot of left-handed
00:56:40batters in one lineup that we're going to focus on B double S let's give that tease out there to
00:56:44the people I like that look DRS will talk prop perspective with Tom Vecchio in just a little bit
00:56:51our MLB insider Craig Mish helps us make sense of this MLB postseason Woba ISO power numbers
00:56:59XFIP numbers coming your way from the mind of Donny right side and just a little as well but
00:57:04we start of course with Thursday night football the start of week seven the Saints at home two
00:57:10and a half point home underdog against Bo Nicks and the Broncos minimal total just 36 and a half
00:57:16for this short week Thursday night football game where many key offensive contributors not there
00:57:21for New Orleans but a couple of banged up people in the Broncos secondary for what has been one of
00:57:26the best defenses so far this year in the NFL what does it all mean what is the best bet on
00:57:32Thursday night it was the question to all of you and fade the public
00:57:44DRS public spot on Monday night heavy into Buffalo to win outright in MetLife the bills do just that
00:57:52the fade the public poll in the public decisions this year five and six in any best bet categories
00:58:00NFL college MLB or otherwise another best bet being asked for Thursday night football
00:58:06what is it the public going mostly with the Broncos lay in two and a half second selected
00:58:13choice that's the under at 36 and a half more than 36 percent DRS back in the Broncos laying
00:58:19a short number albeit short week Thursday night football game on the road in New Orleans what say
00:58:25Donny right side yeah I think they're right in this one I'm with that minus two and a half in
00:58:29that 36 percent that's updated right now because I think it makes the most sense taking a rookie
00:58:33quarter like you know me I love home teams on a Thursday night you say a rookie quarterback's
00:58:37gonna on the road on a Thursday night get out of town he's not used to preparing or just a four
00:58:41you know day stretch at this point but also the Saints going through the exact same thing and
00:58:45not even having as much talent as the Denver Broncos have so for me it is a simple equation
00:58:50here I just trust the coaching staff and the team a little bit more in Denver so we can't say well
00:58:55I think Denver's gonna win Ben but New Orleans is gonna cover at two and a half you're not doing
00:58:59that so the Broncos by a few goal or more I think that makes the most sense and also you take a look
00:59:03at that over under under 36 and a half you can see it as well we just told you the offensive
00:59:07weapons in this game on a short work week with how many players are injured here it probably
00:59:12trends more likely to an uglier type game we just hope the refs don't step in and say we're gonna
00:59:17have more flags out here than actual yardage which they tried to do to us on Monday night football
00:59:22yeah 22 combined penalties more than 200 combined penalty yards on Monday night it ain't about the
00:59:29zebras it should be about a good atmosphere as New Orleans welcomes back their head coach of 15 years
00:59:36Sean Payton as he takes on his former team two rookie quarterbacks Donnie makes it a little
00:59:42bit difficult to handicap in my opinion to figure out just exactly how much offensive output we are
00:59:49going to see tonight everything in me wants to say it should be rather easy New Orleans is so
00:59:55banged up offensively against a Denver defense that is top five in scoring in total defense this
01:00:01year that it's going to be difficult for Spencer Rattler and the Saints to put up enough points to
01:00:06even cover or win outright as a slight home underdog and thus we should stay under great
01:00:13defense for Denver bad and injured offense for New Orleans with a rookie quarterback making his
01:00:19second career start Denver should win this game 17 to 10 14 to 3 21 to 10 whatever it is to stay
01:00:26under 36 and a half I just don't know I think both could get a little sporadic and erratic as
01:00:34you mentioned we could see a couple of picks could we see a pick six or short fields on turnovers
01:00:40leading to easy and quick scores for the opposing offense again that total tonight 36 and a half
01:00:48Denver over in three under in three this the fifth total in seven potential games for the Broncos this
01:00:55year sub 40 New Orleans who was a dead under team last year 11 of 17 games to the under one of the
01:01:01highest under percentages in all of the National Football League in 2023 over in four of six
01:01:08including so far over last week in Spencer Rattler's debut 51 27 in a helter skelter game
01:01:18against the Buccaneers we talked about Bo Nicks passing yards prop tonight 191 and a half Donnie
01:01:24again you have to think he goes over and gets to two bills which is not a huge threshold to break
01:01:31through as a starting quarterback albeit a rookie in the NFL he has gone over 200 in four of six
01:01:38this year in the same so the fourth worst passing defense in the National Football League now Bo
01:01:44Nicks is no Patrick Mahomes but he threw for 331 a couple of weeks ago he is no Baker Mayfield even
01:01:50who threw for 325 last week in the big easy he's no Kirk Cousins who threw for 235 he's no Jalen
01:01:57Hertz who threw for more than 300 he's no Dak Prescott who flirted with 300 in week number two
01:02:05but five of the six have thrown for at least 235 against this Saints defense you got to think Bo
01:02:11Nicks gets the 200 but if the Broncos aren't winning this game comfortably and recognize they
01:02:16don't need to do a lot offensively could be a big night for Javante Williams on the ground
01:02:21yeah but also you look at these two quarterbacks pedigree coming into the NFL but Bo Nicks been
01:02:25around the block played at multiple power five schools here through a ton of passes and Spencer
01:02:29Rattler much heralded coming out of high school played at a couple power five programs these guys
01:02:33aren't scared to chuck the football which is why I went to go watch and watch it's an entirety that
01:02:37game with Spencer Rattler yes they got blown out but the kid looked apart in the pocket he was
01:02:41athletic he was making decisive decisions even if it came up with a turnover or a touchdown pass
01:02:46I liked what I saw so I do think also those half touchdowns for each one of those quarterbacks
01:02:51does make some sense now they're going to be juicy on both sides but if you parlay them together
01:02:55each guy to throw a touchdown pass it doesn't work out too bad of a product at that point so
01:03:00yeah yes they are rookie quarterbacks yes they're going to struggle at times but we're not coming
01:03:04into the NFL like last week saying hey Spencer we're going to really protect you out here minimum
01:03:0822-23 passes he threw 40 times in that game and as I said it was close right up until about two or
01:03:14three minutes into the fourth quarter Bo Nicks do you remember his first career start on the road
01:03:18against Seattle they didn't tell him hey man 15-20 passes max they let him spin it here these two
01:03:23quarterbacks will throw which means good things usually happen turnover sometimes good for the
01:03:27total you're going to take a look at incomplete passes which stop the clock maybe pass
01:03:31interferences down the field and also touchdown passes as well so that's a low total to begin with
01:03:36but these aren't two rookie quarterbacks that you're looking to protect these quarterbacks
01:03:40should be able to spin it I wonder though if the Saints weren't getting blown out 17 zip after the
01:03:47opening quarter if Rattler would have thrown it as much or they would have trusted Alvin Kamara
01:03:52I do think both rushing props for the quarterbacks intriguing we'll talk later
