00:00You know, I'll just, gonna have to teach him some basketball today during the show.
00:03I'm the dude that told you the lineup, or you all, the lineup last night.
00:07And you think that's what they're gonna go with.
00:08And Evan hits me in the morning like, that's not gonna be the starting lineup.
00:12I'm like, you know what, Evan, you might be right, but what was wrong with that lineup?
00:17Well, to let people know, they went with Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins, Kaminga Green, I think
00:25Trace Jackson Davis started last night.
00:27Yes, sir.
00:28Yeah.
00:30You're out on it.
00:33So I just think they gotta figure out Wiggins slash Kaminga at some point.
00:38There's no way to me, and real quick, I'll throw it back to you.
00:41There's no way in a contract year, this is just me, that Jonathan Kaminga, who we know
00:46will go tell his representation, representatives, and they'll go to the paper or whatnot, in
00:52a contract year, if he doesn't get paid by the start of the season, that you're telling
00:56him, I'm coming off the bench.
00:59Keep his value down.
01:04He is an athletic freak, man.
01:05I know the game of basketball is more.
01:08Did you watch it?
01:09You can just, it looks different when you watch him.
01:12Like he stands out, man, he's shooting the hell out the ball.
01:15So is Buddy Hield and so is Moses Moody, who for some reason or another, it's not you,
01:21Stiney.
01:22I don't think Warrior fans are given enough love, man.
01:25And maybe there's too many of the same thing.
01:29They gotta figure it out.
01:30They gotta figure out who plays, who doesn't, and whether they're gonna go with kind of
01:36the same rotation, game to game, or whether they're gonna switch it up game to game.
01:41But that's the one issue that I see early, is they got 10 or 11 guys who wanna play,
01:48and so how are we gonna do it?
01:49Are there gonna be two guys each night that aren't in the rotation, or is Steve Kerr gonna
01:55do it game by game, and then every game, there's a different guy or two who doesn't
02:01play for matchup reasons?
02:03Have you seen a good team in your years, seriously, that did that and it was successful?
02:08To where, you know, each night was its own, you know what I'm saying, Stiney?
02:12I don't know if there's any, I guess the word, I brought it up earlier, continuity in that.
02:16Well, they don't have continuity.
02:17They lost Clay Thompson, and he's been a part of this team for, what, 12, 13 years?
02:22Well, how do you develop that?
02:24You bring in veterans who know how to play, like Melton, like Kyle Anderson.
02:29Even if their role fluctuates on a nightly basis?
02:31That's why you bring in professionals, so that if their roles fluctuate on a game-by-game
02:36basis, they're still professional.
02:39And then you get solid play regardless of whether they're playing consistent minutes.
02:45But 888-957-9570, and the question I have for Warrior fans this year is, is it refreshing?
02:54That this team's a work in progress, and the reality is, maybe they're not going to be
03:01very good.
03:02Maybe it's a 35-win team when it's all said and done.
03:05I wouldn't bet on it if they stay healthy.
03:07I think they can be better than that.
03:09What's that Vegas number again?
03:1043-and-a-half.
03:11See, I would go, man, if you gave me some bread, I'd go to that counter and slap it
03:14on like...
03:15On what?
03:16Oh, the over.
03:17Well then, you are optimistic about this team.
03:20I'm worried about if you get 46, it may not even...
03:23You still could be part of the plan.
03:24That's what I'm worried about.
03:25I'm not saying they can't reach those heights in regard to the numbers of last year's team.
03:30I don't need to be sold on that.
03:32What's scaring me is what the others are doing.
03:35Sacramento, who kept you out the playoffs, just added DeMar DeRozan to what they got
03:40going.
03:41And right now, I feel like they know who and what they are in their rotations.
03:45They don't have continuity.
03:46They just brought in DeMar DeRozan.
03:50Well, he's going straight into the starting lineup.
03:53And so is maybe DeAnthony Mountain.
03:55Or so maybe is Brandon Podjemski.
03:58I like our players.
03:59It's just like, how are they going to fit?
04:02They're going to fit better than last year, I think.
04:06I think they're going to fit better than last year.
04:09I like the makeup of the team.
04:13Talent-wise, they're probably, obviously, not as talented as they've been in the last
04:18several years.
04:19And I don't know, either.
04:21I think you can make up for a little bit of loss of talent with guys that are playing
04:24the right way and guys who are bought in.
04:28That team was not bought in last year.
04:30And I know it started with Clay, but you look at a guy like Chris Paul, and now I look back
04:35at last year, and I'm thinking, there's no way he enjoyed last year playing for the Golden
04:42State Warriors coming off the bench.
04:44Damn.
04:45That was with Wimby.
04:46Let me just throw this to you.
04:47I've heard from Kerr, I've heard from players, that the three-ball emphasis is real and is
04:53here.
04:54Steiny, 45 attempts last night.
04:57Is this what we're going to see from the 2022-2024 Warriors?
05:02At least 40 a night, because it looks like it's going that way.
05:06It looks like they're going to just let them fly.
05:09Steve Kerr says he wants a lot of threes.
05:12Wow.
05:13A lot.
05:14I mean, look, last year's NBA Finals was Dallas against the Celtics, and those two teams took
05:21more threes than any other teams in the league.
05:23They were 1-2.
05:24Now, that doesn't get you to the Finals just taking them, but in this day and age of the
05:30NBA, Spadoni had a great stat last night.
05:33The combined shooting of threes last night was 17 for 72.
05:37I mean, apparently you don't have to shoot them well to win a game.
05:44Let's go out to Cameron.
05:45Cameron's in Antioch.
05:46What's going on, Cameron?
05:47How you doing, buddy?
05:48Good morning.
05:49Good morning.
05:50How y'all doing?
05:51Doing well, man.
05:52OK.
05:53OK.
05:54Steiny, I think you can be strong.
05:55The Warriors did have a chance at a championship last year.
06:02We had 15 double-digit losses throughout the season, most in the league.
06:09The only reason we were losing those games was because Kurt was closing with Chris Paul.
06:13He was going to be strictly a second-bench option.
06:18If he were to play in the AAD, Moody, and Kaminga from the beginning of the season,
06:23we would have had a way better record.
06:25We would have not been in the play-in, and we would have had a chance at the championship.
06:30Whenever Stephen Curry is healthy, we have a chance at a championship.
06:34We have to stop disrespecting him like that.
06:39Yeah, you know what?
06:40Thanks, Cameron.
06:41I appreciate the call.
06:42Now, what did he mean by disrespect?
06:44Well, they did blow a bunch of leads.
06:46We got to there.
06:48Right.
06:49That's what I took from that call.
06:50You are correct.
06:51But he's saying a healthy Steph gets what we saw in the Olympics.
06:56A healthy Steph does not get you to the finals.
07:00But that's my point.
07:02I mean, that's a big leap.
07:04I don't think he was—well, he might have been saying that.
07:06No, he said as long as we have Steph Curry, we have a chance at a title.
07:09That's fine to think that, but you can't go into the season expecting it.
07:14I just don't think you can.
07:16I think you take this team, and you look at it as a brand new version of the Golden State Warriors,
07:22and if somehow, someway you can, throw out the past.
07:27Throw out the last two years, and throw out the previous ten.
07:30We know they've got four titles.
07:32That was a while ago.
07:34What are they now?
07:35Can they be a 49-win team?
07:37Can they get to 4-5?
07:39Can they make the playoffs?
07:41Can they win a round?
07:43Can they win two rounds?
07:45If they lose in the second round, can we then look at the team at the end of the year and say,
07:49huh, that's a 49-win team, and we should be even better next year if we make a tweak or two.
07:55But I think this year, the team as is can be very competitive,
08:01and I think the story behind the story is this team is open for business.
08:09They've got an excess of role players, and it's the age-old thing in the NBA.
08:16Can you somehow package a few role players and maybe a draft pick for a difference-making type player?
08:24And I think that's going to be what Mike Dunleavy's focus is on this season,
08:29just monitoring the league, figuring out a couple players that you think could be brought onto this team,
08:38and change it fundamentally for the better.
08:42Who that guy is, I don't know who it is right now.
08:46But I guarantee you somebody's going to emerge because somebody's going to start having a disappointing year,
08:53and a team's going to need to start thinking about making moves if they're not having a great year.
08:58And maybe the Warriors will get off to a bad start.
09:00And they'll have to be in aggressive mode trade-wise earlier than normal.
09:07I feel like you sent this text into the Comcast Business Text Line, Stony.
09:11The uncertainty with this Warrior team has me excited.
09:14Can't tell you how the team is going to get into it.
09:19I just hope for a sixth seed, being optimistic, Anthony.
09:23And Stony, I feel that.
09:25But I'm just like, what if it goes left fast?
09:28What if any season goes left fast?
09:31But what if it goes left because you're not playing the right keys on the piano?
09:35That's why I want to see manifest.
09:38And the players are going to control that, right?
09:41Or you played the game at a high level.
09:43Not really.
09:44Commission three.
09:46Franklin and Marshall, but some guys can't respond to not knowing what their role is going to be.
09:52You know what?
09:53No, you're right.
09:54Maybe they're not for you.
09:55I got you.
09:56I guarantee you, and this is part about...
09:58But there's a mental thing to this, too.
10:00Who are we talking about?
10:01You know damn well who we're talking about.
10:03We're talking about one guy.
10:04Oh, no, I was...
10:05We're talking about Jonathan Kamenka.
10:06And I was throwing Moody in there.
10:07No, Moody is going to play.
10:11That's the beauty of Moody.
10:13He can play, not play, play, not play, and he plays the same way.
10:19And he gives maximum effort.
10:21Like Moses Moody, this is his fourth year, but he may as well be 30 years old.
10:25He's that professional.
10:26But we've seen him fall out of the rotation.
10:28Yes, that's right.
10:29Where he wasn't warranted.
10:31Well, I don't know.
10:32Well, Steve Kerr would probably disagree with you.
10:34But what I'm saying is the one guy I never worry about in terms of his attitude or approach is Moody.
10:40There's only one guy we worry...
10:41Well, two.
10:42Wiggins.
10:43Wiggins and Kamenka are the two guys that you've got to somehow figure out a way to keep in the fold.
10:48And a buddy who's been on fire in Fuego Stadium, what if he were to get off to a slow start?
10:53You know, OG.
10:55You know, is he second guess?
10:57What am I doing here?
10:58You know who I am, Buddy Heald.
10:59If he were to get off to a slow start.
11:03I love you.
11:04Yeah.
11:06But for a half hour, you've just been like, well, what if Podjemski's not red?
11:11But this is when you do it.
11:13This is why there's so much uncertainty.
11:15No, but this is when you're optimistic.
11:17Like, you can look at this.
11:19They're 5-0 in the preseason.
11:20I get it.
11:21It's a preseason.
11:22Who cares?
11:23I give you that.
11:24I'm scarred from last year.
11:25You know me.
11:26I don't want to be a jerk.
11:27I'm scarred.
11:28No, you don't have Steve Martin.
11:29You don't have to be.
11:30I'm just telling you, I'm scarred.
11:31I am scarred.
11:32So, hey, I'm at the party.
11:34I'm just not in the pool yet.
11:35But I'm looking around.
11:37I mean, I have no rebuttal.
11:39It takes a lot.
11:40I have no rebuttal to you if you say, well, Steini, what if Kaminga gets off to a slow start?
11:45Or what if Wiggins isn't?
11:48Yeah, then they're in trouble.
11:49And, you know, what if LeBron James falls off 10%?
11:53And Anthony Day?
11:56I mean, yeah, there's a chance things could go wrong.
11:59Absolutely.
