00:00Welcome to me. It's always fun game. Absolutely incredible. Now, back to Stiney and Guru on 95.7 The Game.
00:09So last week, we were talking about Draymond Green. It might have even been on Friday. It's always fun game.
00:16I can't remember, but we were talking, I said something like, man, Draymond Green's probably had the best week of his NBA career in about two years
00:25just because of his play and what he was saying and his leadership. Friday night, he gets ejected. He holds on to Zach Eaddy's leg and he ends up getting a flagrant one.
00:35Now, he's on his podcast saying the Grizzlies are soft and they're creating a culture that's too emotional.
00:43And if you remember, Guru, I said on Friday, I said, OK, right now, would you bet that Draymond Green can keep this up?
00:53Meaning the leadership, the play, etc. Is this who he's going to be? And I think I said for now or we'll see.
01:07But my first question is like, does this count as anything on the Draymond Green ledger?
01:14All right. I love this. The ledger talk. And before I answer, Stiney, I'm getting destroyed on the text line because people are saying I'm buying what Draymond is selling because he's talking about a code and he's going to the podcast doing the exact opposite.
01:27You've been very high on Draymond since you looked at his eyes.
01:31I'm not trying to be Johnny Cochran. He doesn't need me to defend him. What I'm marveling at is his perspective on things that they eat.
01:40This is you're teaching him how to be soft. I don't know. But I know his perspective. I do. I care about how he's fitting into the Warriors organization and whether or not.
01:52Well, what if he can turn over a new leaf? I was beginning to.
01:57I don't believe this is and we and you gave me this in the bet. That's why I hadn't paid up.
02:02But it has been a Friday. But I'll tell you this. I told you getting ran would not constitute the bet being over. We're talking about a problem with him.
02:12But when I read this story about what Memphis is politicking to have happened, then and then he reacts this way publicly.
02:21I'm like, I wish Dre maybe would have held on to it, but I can still marvel at it.
02:25But now I feel like tonight the refs are going to be OK. He's back. Like, you know, so we're going to call a tight whistle on you.
02:33The one thing that I just thought of is. So last year, Draymond got suspended for, I think, five games.
02:40Almost a year ago. And then obviously was suspended indefinitely.
02:46OK, so now we come into a new year. All right. And he plays 10 games and everything's fine.
02:51Now he gets a foul where he holds on to Edie's leg. They upgrade it to a flagrant one.
02:59And I just thought to myself, well, let's say another player had done that and the league would have said, you know what, we might want to suspend him here.
03:09Could the league really suspend Draymond Green right now for one game? You know what I mean?
03:18Last year he had five and an indefinite. There's been a lot of talk about, you know, what happens the next time?
03:25Well, if the next time is just a one game suspension, like, OK, I guess we're not looking at past events.
03:36That's the one thing I'd be worried about if I were a Warrior fan. If and when Draymond Green does something,
03:43will what happened last year impact the decision or will he just begin to start at one game, five the next?
03:53And I think the more I think about it, it's going to be tough for the league to suspend Draymond one game after everything that's happened last year,
04:04particularly because in recent press releases they've specifically put in there that past actions are a factor when they determine punishment.
04:14Yeah, no doubt. And let's put it right on the table early, Stoddy, brought to you by Adco Pest Control.
04:20How do we know that's not happening right now? Because it would be a bad look from the NBA if he were to get suspended for that infraction Friday.
04:28Because I'd be like, well, what's the hell? What the hell is taking so long?
04:31But if they're taking into account what this would look like and where this thing would go and it having to be more than one game,
04:40I'm starting to wonder maybe if he has some Geico, the fact that it is Dray, you know, you said in real time it wasn't a technical.
04:48So I just think it would be a bad look now if the NBA doubled back after the complaining of Memphis and came down with some form of a punishment.
04:57No, I don't think he's going to get penalized at all for that any more than he already has, which is a flagrant one and whatever the fine is that comes with that.
05:06But I'm just wondering what the protocol. Yeah, well, I'm also wondering how Warrior fans viewed that game on Friday and what happened.
05:16Did you see it in real time? I didn't. I had to go because it was so close to the end. I had to go back.
05:22I checked the replay and then watched the replay a bunch of times. You know what? People might be surprised at this, especially the people that think I don't like Draymond Green.
05:32I feel like whenever that happens in basketball, guys get tangled up. They always try to grab something and hold the other guy up. They kind of do.
05:44They pretend to get all tangled up. Like he did some bonus and stomped on him. No, that's different. He stomped on his chest. Different.
05:54I'm talking about guys get tangled up, the play starts moving up the court, and now both players are trying to mess with each other.
06:03Zach thought he was running freely. I'm being real here. That's why it could have been dangerous.
06:09But he never could run freely because his foot was always lodged between him and Draymond.
06:15I don't think Dray had his foot, Stony, and that's what makes this dangerous. And I'm going to defend Dray on the Sabonis flagrant one.
06:22He could have made the argument that I was getting ready to run. I didn't know Drew was right behind me when I pushed down or stomped down.
06:30I disagree. If you look at the tape from both, the Sabonis stomp to me is significantly worse.
06:38Well, it is, but I'm just telling you, Edie did not know Dray was going to hold his foot when he stood up trying to run.
06:46What if he got majored? Then what are we talking about? Then it's amped up times a foul out.
06:53And you know what? That's the other thing. Oh, a guy could get hurt on that play. When's the last time a guy got hurt on a play like that?
07:00Come on. It's almost like Dray isn't a bad thing. That kind of play doesn't bother me.
07:09So Dray is okay in what he was saying then? Saying or doing?
07:13No, when he's talking about what Memphis is looking like by politicking for something to come down on him on something that now you say is kind of trivial.
07:22No, the flagrant one's fine. Flagrant one's fine for that. I don't think it should have been more.
07:28Suspension talk is ridiculous. That's what I think. And Draymond does too.
07:33I mean, that's what I think. Let's go to Chris in San Jose. What's going on, Chris? How you doing?
07:40Hey, what's happening, Stiney? Spadoni played me. I mean, I tried to say I was Matthew Steinmetz from Reading, Pennsylvania.
07:48But hey, if Chris San Jose gets me to the front of the line, that'll work too.
07:52You know, Stiney, I think that with Draymond, death, taxes, and Draymond getting a suspension due to his ego and arrogance is a given.
08:05Those are the three given things in my life as a Warrior fan.
08:09So this, you know, and him, he's just so, listen, there's a quote, and I don't know if it's exact, but oftentimes the loudest person in the room is not the smartest person in the room.
08:20And there's nobody louder in the entire NBA than Draymond Green. If you think about that one for a second.
08:26No, I would agree.
08:27And nobody else, yeah, nobody else in the NBA has a, literally, go to YouTube.
08:32Nobody has a five to ten minute compilation over the last decade of egregiously dirty plays.
08:39And Guru, I'm sorry, brother, I don't know what level of sports you played or like how you watched the game.
08:45But you, the fact, you don't think the Sabonis, he jumped up and double foot stomped Sabonis on the chest.
08:52What are we talking about?
08:53No, I'm not defending that.
08:55Real quick.
08:56I came down hard on Dray for that.
08:58My thing is, he could have made the same argument that I was getting ready to run.
09:03And I, you know, and I stepped on dude, not knowing he was there.
09:07That's all. I'm not defending that play.
09:09And I never have.
09:10I hear what you're saying, but we can't do the revisionist history.
09:13It's been a decade.
09:14He does this time and time again.
09:16It's like Stiney said, 10 games into the season.
09:19And we're like, oh, wow, Draymond's not arguing.
09:21And then, boom, it takes one play where Draymond fumbles on his face, loses the ball, instantly gets frustrated and grabs this kid by the leg.
09:28I hear what Stiney's saying.
09:30Oh, his leg was already there.
09:31I don't care.
09:32Draymond clenched his leg and grabbed him.
09:35So, Chris, should he be suspended now?
09:37Should he be suspended, Chris?
09:38I do not.
09:39No, no, no, no, no.
09:40I don't think he should be suspended.
09:41I think the year restarted.
09:42I understand it went 1-5 and then it was, you know, it's suspended indefinitely until he came back.
09:48But he's so out of touch with reality.
09:50People, does he think people are watching the Warriors for Draymond Green?
09:53Really?
09:54I mean, he said ratings were down.
09:57Well, let me ask you this, Chris.
09:58They don't love you like that.
09:59In the words of Draymond, they don't love you like that, bro.
10:03That's pretty funny.
10:04They don't love you like that.
10:05Hey, Chris, let me ask you this before I let you go.
10:07So, is it fair to say you believe it's just a matter of time?
10:11Oh, absolutely it's just a matter of time.
10:14If I could bet on Draymond Green suspensions, I would, excuse me, I would bet the house on that, gentlemen.
10:20Thanks a lot.
10:21Thanks a lot, Chris.
10:22I don't know if I would bet the house on it.
10:25But for Dray to say, Stoddy, the ratings are down and they need to call on Draymond Green.
10:31I'm like, Dray, they ain't coming at you like that.
10:33You know what I mean?
10:34This is what Chris was talking about in San Jose.
10:38The ratings is low.
10:39We know Draymond name sparks bugs.
10:44We know that name carries weight.
10:47We know that's going to get people riled up.
10:50What's your name, man?
10:51Ratings low.
10:52And stop being Draymond.
10:55See, that's where he's losing me, Stoddy.
10:58You can't say that out loud, though.
11:00And I'm with Chris, Stoddy.
11:02It's bigger than you, Dray, in that regard to get the ratings back up.
11:07But that's how he feels and he said it.
