00:00On 95.7 The Game. Pushed the wrong button. You did. You did. A little rusty, but you're feeling better, huh? Alex Saar.
00:08Yeah? Saar. Yeah, we'll see. We're not there yet. Rookie of the month.
00:11How about Cooper Flagg? Drop 42 for you. Gets two. Temple. Hey, 42 is 42. Shout out. Notre Dame.
00:18Yeah, the Irish. They were up like 21-3 in that game. Sounds like you got a lot of garbage buckets. Don't matter. 42.
00:25You ever score 42? Is he gonna? No. Well, me neither. Without a three-point line?
00:30How? It's impossible. This is the one, you know, Steve Kerr talked to Slater before the game. Anthony Slater of the Athletic.
00:40Our man. And some of his quotes, you know, aren't sound. You know, they're just, I gotta read it to you. But this one, this one is another one.
00:51Like something, it feels to me like something has happened. They know something's not going on that they want to be going on.
01:01But I just find it more than coincidental that Draymond, Steph and Kerr are all talking like this.
01:08Slater says that that Steve Kerr bristled at this idea of ring culture, the idea that it's only championship or rebuild.
01:19This is what Steve Kerr said. Listen to this. I think it's really important these last couple of years that we handle ourselves with dignity and competitiveness and fight for everything.
01:31We want to maintain what has made us the Warriors, what made us into this organization. That means we have to keep fighting.
01:39But it means handling the pain and the indignity of losing with a dignified response.
01:46I think that manifests itself in a lot of different ways. And one of those ways is don't do anything crazy. Let's maintain the integrity of the operation.
01:55I think everybody is on board with that and aligned with that. We all want the organization to do as well as possible going forward.
02:03And we all agree it would be really irresponsible to jeopardize the future to take a wild stab at something.
02:11I told you during the break, Wynne Horst, he was flummoxed this morning on first take. I should have told you guys just about these quotes coming from from Kerr and Stephen Curry.
02:26I got to tell you something. I love Coach Kerr destined for the Hall of Fame. He would not have got that re-up had he said that to me in the interview about what we're going to do.
02:36All of a sudden, I just feel like Heathcliffs or the Fat Cats or it's OK. Let's just go out there and be there. But I'm not going to give my right arm or my left leg to win.
02:49And I hadn't ever heard this tone that I'm hearing now on a gloomy day. Again, I know we're talking about the future and the present.
02:59Stani, the Toronto Raptors had won one game in their last 17 going into last night, five in a row. And they beat the Warriors and make the Warriors look unathletic.
03:11So when I hear the coach say, don't do something crazy, my question is, why not? Where is your fire and desire? Rick James, where is, but do we get it done? Let's take a crack at it.
03:26When did these guys all of a sudden, the big three, Dre, Steph and Kerr, all of a sudden worry about 2031? I'm like, oh, my gosh. And if this is what it is, partner, let's go look at the menu with Chase, the parking, the ticket prices, the margarita prices, the nachos, all of it.
03:47If we're all just going to, hey, let's just be good Samaritans. We're going to be 10th or 11th or not make the playoffs, i.e. last year. Stani, what am I missing?
03:59You're missing the reality of the NBA. And the reality of the NBA is Draymond Green's been around for 13, 14 years. Steph Curry's been around for 16 years. And Steve Kerr's been around for 35 years.
04:14And they know when they've got a team, that's the real deal. And they know when they have a team that's in a little bit of trouble. And this team's in a little bit of trouble. And it's not just now. It's down the line.
04:29And I'll ask Warrior fans one more time. How can this team get better? With Steph and Dray, the number one and two most impactful players on the team, the two players that are champions, that we know if they're on the team, they've got to play. And they will take significant roles. But they're declining. So again, how do you do that?
04:56Somebody said here on the text line, anything for Steph is a false premise. And I kind of thought that way, too. I mean, you can't operate wanting to mollify one player over the best intentions of the team.
05:18And whether it's Steph or Michael Jordan or Bird, Magic, LeBron, they now have a guy who's going to be 37 years old. And he's their best player. But he's not getting better. So, you know, I just don't, like, I look at it as, in a way, you know, the details are less important than the big picture.
05:46And to me, the big picture is, this is the inevitable happening after a dynasty. There's just no way around it. You signed a lot of your veteran champions. You know, you signed Dray, you signed Steph. And now it's three years after they won their last title. And reality's setting in.
06:08Wow. I want you to hear something. I reference a first take this morning. Evans got it for us. Let's play it for us. You can't stop where you are at this pace where you got a guy like Steph Curry. Then you just wait. You're wasting away. So even though I appreciate what he said, it's hard to believe that he believes that. And if he does believe it, God bless him. But I don't give a damn. If I'm Joe Lacob, I'm like, what's the chances, guys?
06:36What's the chances at any time in the remainder of my lifetime as owner of the Golden State Warriors, if I'm Joe Lacob and Peter Cooper and those guys, that I'm going to find me another Steph Curry?
06:48Well, that's they're not. But does that mean your mortgage the future for a one percent chance of catching lightning in a bottle? I thought you would. But listening to these guys, Donnie, the players and the coach, it sounds like they're not.
07:03And what's your future? What's mortgage in your future? It's got to be picks. Right. Or slash cominga. And if we're keeping it really, I can't believe I'm saying this. If it's Tank City or everybody's OK, the leaders are OK with this mediocrity.
07:18Then tank for flag just to get some ball, ping pong balls and get a one percent chance of getting flag. They've done it before. That's how the dynasty. Many people think the dynasty started. You didn't bark back at me like I thought you were.
07:34You didn't bark back at me like I thought you were in regard to Quinton Post, Donnie. Like, I want to see more of the kid. OK, OK, so you can under that's where I'm at. Like, I'm serious. Like, I couldn't believe. OK, what do we got to lose now? Because the leaders are telling me we have a lot to lose.
07:52Tell because you start playing the young guys like this, the losses are going to look worse. They're going to look worse. And like, this is the part that I don't understand is. Like, you're doing the one thing that you said you didn't want to do, which is.
08:14Build around staff and now you don't have anything. To go along with it, it was. It was a long shot. And, you know, like I want him to be mad study, that's what's hurting staff. So I'm hoping there's he's he's just say this is wordplay because there was a briefing. This hurts when I hear him act like it's OK.
08:42He they know who they don't have a competitive championship type team in Vegas in summer. His tone was different and it went viral. He went viral because it was like, I'm not settling for this.
08:57So you got people coming here and the team's going to be out of it.
09:19Again, do you if you can get Jimmy Butler standing and it will cost you cominga Wiggins and three firsts, are you doing it? I'm doing it.
09:28OK, I'm doing it. And I'm doing it.
09:30And I'm standing on two. I'm standing on.
09:32What is it? All ten. And they're not business.
09:35They're not doing it, apparently. And I can't disagree with that.
09:40I can't. Like to me, this is what they're going through right now is the natural downturn after a dynasty.
09:46I know no one wants to hear it. Wow. And I know that they could have changed their present if they would have done better things in the past.
09:55But they didn't. And here they are. But the worst part is that they're in the middle, though.
09:59It's they're in the middle. That's the worst place to be.
10:02Well, they can't. That's because the owner that we all love says we never want to be on the bottom.
10:09So he's never going to tank. That's what he said. All right. And I how can you tank when you have Steph Curry?
10:17That was my they're in. They're stuck. That seems pretty obvious to me.
10:24And and the the problem is they're not only stuck, they're selling.
10:29It feels like up until the last few days, they've sold the fans a bill of goods that there was a move out there that was going to elevate them to, let's say, the top five in the conference.
10:41But they might have really thought that, Stani. Well, why? Why?
10:46How can you say on the one hand, trades are hard, but then try to tell everybody we're in on everybody.
10:52We're going to make a big move. It's not that easy.
10:57So now real quick study is trust the process because you're because now the future basically supersedes Kaminga.
11:04It's about the picks. But it's trust the process without not getting being sorry enough to get a top pick or be favored to get, you know, win the lottery or whatnot.
11:14And you got to do it on Steph Curry's watch if this team continues, if they're six or seven under by All-Star.
11:21Oh, who had that on their warrior bingo card, man?
11:25Well, I mean, the idea of them being OK with it pretty much.
11:29Well, the idea that they were they missed the playoffs last year.
11:33And that they were a lock to make it this year that I, you know, I thought they'd be as good or a little better than last year.
11:40They're not. They're not. And they're not even close.
