00:00Well, this is going to be a little bit different from the last debate.
00:05Instead of a panel that are questioning the leaders, it will be a gallery full of journalists
00:09that will be asking those questions before the two leaders are then able to go head-to-head
00:14and grill each other on the topics we heard from last time.
00:16Now, this is, as you mentioned, the second of three debates that the leaders will participate
00:21in before the state election next Saturday on October 26th.
00:25And really since the start of this campaign has kicked off, we've seen the leaders tour
00:29a lot of Queensland.
00:30They've been focused on the regions as well as the far north, and that's because Queensland
00:34is one of the most decentralised states in the country, where the larger population actually
00:39exists outside of the capital city.
00:42So yesterday we saw the Premier, Stephen Miles, who was in the seat of Rockhampton in central
00:46Queensland, where he was continuing to spruik his cost-of-living measures.
00:50Now, the seat of Rockhampton has been traditionally considered a safe Labor seat, but only recently
00:55have they faced a major challenge from the former mayor-turned-independent candidate
00:59Margaret Strulow, who's now contesting it.
01:01It does come as the opposition leader, David Christopher Lee, spent the day in the electorate
01:05of Ipswich West yesterday, continuing to tout his youth crime policies.
01:09Now, many Queenslanders would have already started to see those big billboards around
01:13the state with the LNP party slogan, Adult Crime, Adult Time.
01:17The party has largely been running their campaign off addressing youth crime here in Queensland.
01:22As for the debate today, the two leaders are going to have quite a bit of a tough act to
01:26follow after their deputies fired up at each other yesterday.
01:29We heard from the Shadow Treasurer, David Janetzky, who called out his counterpart,
01:34Cameron Dick, effectively asking him to reveal his economic plan, but it only came after
01:39he himself was accused of hiding during this state election.
01:43So we are expecting this debate to kick off at about midday local time here in Queensland.
01:48It's hosted by the Queensland Media Club and will be presented to a crowd of about
01:52600 people.
01:54And topics like cost of living, youth crime, housing and health, which are some of the
01:58four main topics that we're hearing emerge from this state election, will all be on the
02:02table as the countdown does continue with less than 10 days to go.
