Queensland's Premier and Opposition Leader are campaigning in the state's south-east today. The two major parties will reveal their detailed policy costings two days out from the election.

00:00Well today is expected to be quite a busy day for both the leaders of the major political
00:06parties. Now we're expecting the shadow treasurer David Janetzky to unveil the cost of the LNP's
00:12policy plans and pre-election promises. It comes as the opposition leader David Crisafulli
00:17has called out the Labor government and has effectively said that debt here in Queensland
00:22is spiralled out of control under the Labor government.
00:25The choice is between a fresh start that only an LNP majority government can give or
00:30the chaos that can come from a re-elected Stephen Miles Labor government propped up
00:35by the Greens who are extreme and the Cadders who will lead to more chaos. And that is the
00:42choice that Queenslanders are facing.
00:44Today the treasurer Cameron Dick will also be unveiling a more detailed policy costing
00:49plan for the Labor government that also includes debt figures. Now both the major leaders have
00:55started off their day campaigning in the south east of Queensland. We've seen the opposition
01:00leader David Crisafulli who spent his time in Middle Park in Brisbane this morning while
01:05the Premier Stephen Miles has been on the Sunshine Coast touting health policies. Now
01:10in a press conference earlier the Premier Stephen Miles called out the opposition leader
01:15and said that effectively the LNP has left it far too late to unveil their policy costings
01:20plan with less than 48 hours before election day.
01:23Today is cuts day for the LNP. Today is the day they have to outline where the cuts will
01:30come from. The money has to come from somewhere. You can't spend more, reduce debt and reduce
01:37taxes without cuts. And it is a real shame that after four years the LNP have forced
01:44Queenslanders to wait until there's just 48 hours until the election to learn where
01:49the cuts will be.
01:51And of course it comes as serious allegations have been made with criminal charges against
01:56an independent candidate that's running on the seat of Caloundra which is on the southern
02:00end of the Sunshine Coast and one of the most marginal seats there. Now it's been unveiled
02:05that independent candidate Michael Jessup was arrested earlier this year in July and
02:10is facing seven offences of really serious criminal charges including unlawful stalking
02:16as well as possession of a weapon.
02:18Now police say that they responded to reports of a man acting suspiciously near a property
02:23in Bligh Bligh and when they conducted a search of a car that was near that property which
02:28belonged to Mr Jessup they've alleged that they discovered weapons as well as camouflaged
02:33clothing including an axe, a shovel, duct tape, rope as well as a cadaver bag. Now Mr
02:39Jessup has told the ABC that he will be fighting the charges, he's also said that they were
02:43fabricated. The Premier Stephen Miles says that it will be all up to voters as to who
02:47they decide to be that candidate for the region but certainly it does come as Mr Jessup was
02:54granted conditional bail from Brisbane's Supreme Court last month. He is expected to appear
02:59before Maroochydore Magistrate's Court well after the state election next month on November
03:0515.
