00:08My name's Kevin, I'm from Queensland and I'm here to help.
00:12That was 2007.
00:15I'm determined to represent all Australians.
00:17History shows most Prime Ministers hail from New South Wales or Victoria,
00:22but this time there's another Queenslander in the running.
00:26Do you think it's time to get our country back on track?
00:28Yes!
00:30The Sunshine State is a stronghold for Peter Dutton's Liberal National Party.
00:34The LNP goes into the election with 21 Queensland seats.
00:39The ALP has just five, all in the southeast.
00:43The Greens picked up an unprecedented three seats at the last election
00:47and Maverick MP Bob Catter rounds out the 30 seats in Queensland.
00:53About 3.8 million Queenslanders are eligible to vote.
00:57What issue's most important to you?
01:00Youth crime. Crime. We're all prisoners in our own homes.
01:04The cost of living, the environment.
01:07Having just one job is not cutting it anymore, so I'm right now in the process of looking for a second job.
01:13Community and health, aged care.
01:16Two thirds of retirees are currently in poverty, so I think it's a big concern.
01:23Political commentators are saying Queensland might not be a key battleground this election,
01:28but there are some interesting threads to watch.
01:31In the far north, LNP veteran Warren Ench is retiring.
01:35Can the Greens replicate their 2022 success in Brisbane?
01:39And what about minor parties and independents?
01:43I think they will play a key role because people are disillusioned with the two-party preference.
01:49And we're expecting at least one in three, maybe a little more, of Australians vote for a party other than Labor, Liberal or National.
