00:00A light gym workout before Queensland's Premier-elect got down to business.
00:09So were these shredding trucks, pulling into government headquarters ahead of a changing
00:14of the guard.
00:17The LNP's victory ending Labor's nearly 10-year reign still sinking in.
00:22In historic terms, I said it was like climbing a mountain, well it was like climbing a mountain
00:29laid down with a backpack and in the sleeting snow.
00:33Congratulations coming from Canberra.
00:36Not only did I speak with the Prime Minister, he was good enough to afford me about 20 minutes
00:39this morning.
00:40LNP!
00:41LNP!
00:42LNP!
00:43It was a jubilant night for the LNP, nerves turning to elation as seats turned blue.
00:52He reiterated his mandate, youth crime, health, housing and cost of living and promised to
00:58work for all.
00:59To the people of this great state, I've lived and I've worked at both ends of it and I love
01:05every inch of it.
01:09He's determined to break the one term curse.
01:11It has to be about generational government.
01:14So we govern with humility and decency and vision and tenacity and in doing so we get
01:22the opportunity to govern for a longer period of time.
01:27Stephen Miles had already addressed the party faithful.
01:30If you consider what we were up against, this is an extraordinary result.
01:35But this was no concession speech.
01:39It is clear that that hasn't been enough to secure a majority of seats for Labor.
01:45And also that the LNP is unlikely to have a majority.
01:55He waited until this morning to phone and congratulate Mr Crisafulli.
01:59There was no malice in that process.
02:02In the light of day, Stephen Miles had reassessed as he surveyed the damage in the regions.
02:08The post-mortem is underway.
02:11Our team will need to do the work of reconnecting with Queenslanders, particularly regional Queenslanders.
02:19Mr Miles keen to be opposition leader.
02:21I'm not taking anything for granted and I will let our caucus members decide who leads.
02:26There's plenty of soul-searching for the Greens, which has failed to make any gains.
02:31Stephen Miles managed to recover some vote and he managed to hold us off in some of those
02:36inner-city seats by picking up our policies and directly offering them to Queenslanders.
02:41The outgoing Premier acknowledging it's been a hard-fought campaign.
02:46I'm sure you'll all understand my desire to get to the pub.
