00:00must win but um kind of look at must win is a little different. Must wins are like if you lose
00:03you're done. So at the end of the day we treat it as a as a must win for sure to get back on track
00:07and you know we got this mini buy and then get back to work on Monday, Tuesday, whichever day
00:11Kyle want to have a bonus practice. Now back to Stiney and Guru on 95.7 The Game. All right that's
00:18Deebo Samuel talking about last night 888-957-9570. How do you describe last night's win?
00:27I got Evan with ugly. I got Gu with grimy and apparently I'm the pessimist but I'm the guy who
00:33said pretty complete. Pretty complete. We didn't turn the ball over and I say we when we win.
00:42Look at you. We forced three turnovers. We ran for over 200. We threw for over 250.
00:49I just showed you that video. Who else is a Deebo fan? James Harden was at the game waiting
00:54at him as they came off the field. Deebo dropped to his knees and signed his jersey
00:59and gave it to Harden and of course we tried to lick the seat. Why is he in Seattle?
01:04Portland's Clippers are at home. I'm an assistant player. I am assistant. Let me borrow from you
01:10about James Harden. Take a play off. What do you mean? You have no business being at that game.
01:15You've got a game tonight in LA against the Blazers. Stop it Stiney. Seriously. It's called
01:22an airplane. Two hour flight. Hour and a half. I love when players from other sports show love.
01:28That's who I am in part. Here's what I want to know. Give me those prize picks numbers on his
01:35game tonight. Give me some of those props. I want the under on them all. Stiney do you always see
01:44the glass half empty? You were born that way. You got the wrong guy today. I'm not the guy
01:49nitpicking this crap. They won by 12 points. This is a three and three football team. We're
01:54in first. You need to make a boast of Stiney. You gotta give him some love. You called him out and
01:59he responded. Nobody called. You and Bonte called him out and he just had a dose of whoop-ass for
02:05you. Why'd you bring B in it? Guys, you guys have been... We all just want to see more. The plus
02:13button. So do I from my co-host. But you know what? I don't go around ripping you to everybody.
02:21My back is hurting from carrying you yesterday. Rene and San Jose. By the way, congrats to
02:27Macklin celebrating. They lost. Who cares? He had a goal and an assist. I could care less about the
02:37team. I've got a favorite player. Hey Rene, what's going on? It's a guy. Good morning, man.
02:45Rene calls a fair amount. Hey, what up, Rene? Thank you, 650. That win was great. Yes.
02:56And I'm gonna say this right now is that actually the team that we have now is as talented as the
03:03Montana Air team. But they just can't get it together at every game. If they get both the
03:10defense and the offense rolling, nobody can beat them. Not even KC. But you know, that's what
03:16they're gonna do at KC. And they're gonna win because they won't... They both... The offense
03:23and defense will get on the ball and get on them. The only thing that I suggest is that they don't
03:29get emotional because KC has won a lot of games because they get penalties on us because we do
03:36penalties at the wrong time. And you know, I've seen all the games and that's how KC gets third
03:43down, first down. Because of a penalty, which they shouldn't have gotten. And that's what we
03:48gotta do. We just gotta go in there with a mindset. Hey, this is our Super Bowl. Revenge.
03:56Yeah. No doubt about it. Appreciate it, Rene. But, Snotty, I would tell them that 88-niner team with
04:02Randy Cross, all the studs on that offensive line, Haley, Joe Montana, Roger Craig. What about them?
04:10Jesse Cipolla. I don't think this team is as talented as that one. That's what I was saying.
04:15He said ever. We'll see. Steve Wallace. Who else does that team have? They had... I mean,
04:22that team is bad, man. You do that all the time. You compare Purdy to Montana. What's wrong with
04:29comparing this team to the 88 team? Sometimes all you can do is laugh. Purdy was on his game,
04:36man. He needed that one to bounce back. Three tugs, no picks. Oh, no throws. I don't even
04:43remember an oh, no throws. I had one. Give it to me. Because that laser, I want to say,
04:48was down near the goal line. We threw it. There were two guys. Looked like
04:55they might get it, but they didn't. Would you consider the Debo Samuel touchdown?
05:01What did the safety do wrong there, Evan? Let me ask you that question on there.
05:06Well, he just kind of lobbed it up. Debo grabbed it.
05:08Can I be honest with you on that kind of play? That one looked to me like he's throwing it
05:13and saying, Debo, go get it. Yeah. Dance Bryant. That's his career. 50-50 balls.
05:21Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It was like a 50-50 ball.
05:25Explosive? You know, Evan,
05:30you see, this is what this kid holds on to. I got a nugget on the explosive, too.
05:34Okay. Go ahead. The Niners are tied with the Green Bay Packers with 20 receptions
05:40or more of 20-plus yards. So Evan was right. When we say, are they explosive, they are. They're
05:46tied with the Packers, 20-plus receptions of 20 yards or more. How many more than 30?
05:51I don't know that. I just know they're bogging down in the red zone.
05:54So you've determined in your mind a 20-yard play is explosive. I consider it a 30-yard play. That's
06:03an explosive. Do they lead in 30s? We don't know that. But you should know that if that's your
06:08metric. They're not. I use the eye test. And this team, you don't use my stuff because I love the
06:16eye test. No, you're stealing it. But anyway, you were last night and Harden wanted your jersey.
06:23I'm a Deebo, man. I'm not going to fit.
06:27That's a four. What do you do with that?
06:31That's a four. That is. I like that.
06:335-1-0, Goo. This one's for you. How about Goo starts talking about our $30 million decoy?
06:43Like, I don't do that type of radio or I'm not that type guy.
06:47That's the only kind you do.
06:49The Stony Stop. In wins, where they were hemorrhaging, they needed this win.
06:54But I'm telling you, I am in the caddy talking to myself like,
06:59Oh, why didn't he catch seven balls?
07:00No, two for 37 on four targets.
07:02Let me do this for the 8 millionth time this season.
07:05No, it's a reality, man.
07:07I'm going to do something again.
07:08Are you not getting open? I don't know.
07:11Oh, my God. Have you learned anything about the Niners offense? They spread the ball around.
07:18All right. Then there's nothing to see here.
07:20Stop thinking one guy's going to get 14 targets.
07:22I just saw a guy in one half get 115 yards last week. How about that?
07:27Oh, my gosh.
07:28How about that?
07:29How about these numbers?
07:31Where the heck are they? There they go.
07:33Give it to him.
07:33I will.
07:34DK had 11 targets.
07:36Receiving. Debo, five targets.
07:39Kittle, six.
07:41Ayuk, four.
07:42Jennings, five.
07:44Juszczyk, four.
07:46You see a pattern.
07:48They don't like to go.
07:49Samuel, 12.
07:51Kittle, three.
07:52Ayuk, four.
07:54They like to spread.
07:56Spread it out.
07:58Spread it out.
07:58I understand that. And you're the same guy. If this were Tuesday of next week, you'd be like,
08:05why did they pay him $30 million for that?
08:07Well, that's a mistake. I owned up to that.
08:09I'll give you that.
08:10I believe that was a mistake.
08:12You have echoed that. I will give you that.
08:14Yeah.
08:15You've been consistent there.
08:17I'm not there because they're telling you, because the money is the most important investment,
08:22that whatever he's bringing to the table outside of numbers is that valuable,
08:27that they need them. That's what that tells me.
08:30What if I told you that I just looked at the clock and I thought it was a little later than
08:33it actually was? And you know who I blame it on a little bit? A little bit.
08:38Evan?
08:38No, the audience.
08:39What happened?
08:40I thought they'd carry us through a little more today. No, there's a lot of them out there.
08:43You call them the front runners?
08:45I would never do that.
08:46Well, J-Dawg in Boston's a front runner.
08:49You're going to call, that's where he's labeled that.
08:51That's true.
08:52Yeah, I'll tell him when he calls.
08:53That is true.
08:55Charles in Sausalito.
08:58Hey, Charles, how you doing, buddy?
09:01I'm doing well. How are you guys doing?
09:04Hey, hey, we're great. We're having a good day. Thank you.
09:08Would you guys be doing any better right now if the Niners would have lost yesterday?
09:13No, I don't do that type of radio. I'm not, nah.
09:15I would have been more happy.
09:16People in the Bay would have been down. There wouldn't have been euphoria. And I like to party.
09:21I appreciate that. Amaya, I can't account for the special teams deficiencies of this particular team.
09:31Obviously, they are large and they are manifesting themselves and they hurt us.
09:38But I will speak to this. The red zone, which has been a very difficult thing for us, obviously,
09:46post McCaffrey. And I've been calling for this for weeks. We got it a little bit last night.
09:57Just go to Kittle. Throw fades to Kittle. Like Calvin Johnson used to be the taller,
10:04stronger guy in the end zone. Throw the fade to Calvin Johnson where only he can catch it.
10:11Throw the fade to Kittle where only he can catch it. And they're not even throwing fades to him.
10:18But it's like, why not throw? Why not? When you're in the low red zone,
10:23eight yard line, just like let Kittle leak out and like run. He gets one on one coverage
10:29out to the corner. You know, if he doesn't catch it, OK, but he probably will.
10:37He might. Well, I'll tell you this. To that point, George Kittle leads the NFL
10:42tight ends in red zone block agency. He's got a reception, Stiney, five touchdowns
10:48and flies in the face of you saying they don't use it. He's ahead of Tucker Croft.
10:53Who? Tucker Croft. Oh, he's having a good year. Yeah, it's Tucker Craft.
10:59See, that's why I need to. Is it really K.R.
11:03Boy, it looks like a oh, it looks like a they can sometimes look that way.
11:09It's OK. Yeah, he's on the Packers. Anyway, Tucker Croft doesn't lead the league.
11:14Kittle's got more touchdowns. I need to go get them. I'm a head on out.
11:19Where are you heading out to get some glasses? Let's go. You're listening to 95,
11:25seven, the game KMG. Oh, God. Time for the legal. Like, I love you, but if I had done that,
11:33you would never let me live it down. No, but you notice I'm laughing about it. I can laugh at
11:38myself. So when I laugh, it's it's a laugh of love. Yeah, because I know if that were me and
11:45I read it, I mind on how he trusts you to close out the. There's some errors, of course.
11:53No, not my my errors are always related to this crap. Yeah, like that kind of crap legal
11:59extra pressure on what they call traffic. Yeah, you put extra very, very seldom. Do I make a
12:03sports mistake? He deserved it. Very seldom. I love you. Let's try it again, Stiney. You're
12:08listening to 95, seven, the game KGMZ FM and HD on San Francisco. Always live on the free Odyssey
12:13app, Twitch and YouTube powered by First NorCal Credit Union. Six, five. Oh, but Kittle doesn't
12:20have good hands, right, Stiney? They're average. But that was a bit you told people. I stand by
12:28everything I said. He's a better blocker. It's looking worse. He's a better block. He's a better
12:32blocking tight end than the passing pass catching tight end. But it all goes in the same. Sure.
12:37Absolutely. So they don't get the hall of fame. So then don't get so wound up about it.
12:42Wendy. Oh, hey. Oh, my gosh. You got Wendy in Minnesota. Yeah. And I got. Oh, my. I
12:49go ahead, Wendy, because I got a friend who referenced you recently and I'm I may try to
12:54find this email. Go ahead. Well, OK, first of all, I said my word. I did not watch the game. You know
13:02what I watched instead? I don't play ball and I don't even like baseball. Wow. Baseball. So,
13:08OK, here's my thoughts on the game. First of all, was it a great win? No. Did they need to win?
13:13Did you watch it? Did they leave? Did they let
13:19Seattle kind of get back in the game? Yeah. Second of all, what is going on with the special teams?
13:26They've given up two touchdowns back to back. Inexcusable. Both kickers, both kickers got
13:32injured on tackles, making tackles because the special teams suck. When are they going to address
13:38this problem? You cannot be giving up a touchdown every game on special teams. This is like
13:42unheard of. And obviously, Kyle is not going to is not going to do anything about it because
13:49he should have done something about it the first time it happened. I do agree with
13:53Stein, with Guru about you need to get more than four catches. I get that they spread the ball
13:58around everybody. You just paid him 30 million dollars. He needs to be in the game a hell of
14:03a lot more. You don't pay somebody 30 million dollars for four catches. They could have used
14:09the 30 million dollars for other positions. How about the offensive line? Might have been a good
14:14idea. 49ers, 36. Seattle, 24. Come on, Wendy. Wendy, I didn't want to tell her. I don't like
14:25her not watching the game. What did she say? She called last week and said, I'm not watching
14:29anymore because I don't think they're a good team. Harry's been echoing the same sentiments.
14:34And he said, why didn't you tell Wendy? Would you tell me that they're going to be good? You just
14:39let Wendy say the same things I do, but you don't contradict her. Watch the game again. Wendy,
14:45he had four targets. He had two catches. He got open four times. No, I'm not saying anything.
14:51It was a great, complete team win. I thought you said it was grimy. Yeah, well, see, it ain't got
14:57to be that for the rest of the show. There are other words in English language, man. My point
15:00being is you should feel euphoria right now, headed in to you got the extra rest and you got
15:05Kansas City at home, man. And you hope everybody heals up. How about that? Because guys keep
15:11dropping. But the next man up mentality. Seahawks banged up to last night. Very.
15:2152 yards. Kenneth Walker, he couldn't do anything. This is Kyle talking about red zone.
15:30Kittle action. Two scores. The first one was awesome. That was a long third down.
15:35We're obviously struggling in the red zone to make a big play like that. I think it was third
15:38and goal from I want to say the 10, but that was huge. It was a dime right in the corner.
15:42It was a hell of a route and catch by George. And then I thought the second one was just as
15:45impressive. Called a looky to be a play to coverage where two people were on him and
15:48he went across the board and had a hell of a throw to George. Yeah, that's how I saw it.
15:53Everything. That was a great throw. The second one was a great throw to
15:58party was good last night. No doubt about it. And he said he tried to keep it simple and.
16:05Kind of look like that. Kind of look like that. I thought he played a little differently than
16:11the game against the Cardinals. Yeah, a little bit different. They had the ball
16:16with that six point lead. And I was like, OK, they got to do something here,
16:19starting to kind of, you know, do something with the momentum. And
16:23Seattle got him to punt and I was like, oh boy. But I was listening to the guys this morning
16:29standing. We have not mentioned his name, which now ski all what three punts inside the 10 yard
16:34line. So you got to give him credit to. Sure, sure. This is Brock Purdy being proud of his team.
16:42Listen to this. Just listen to this because I get something to add at the end.
16:45Every opportunity we step out in the field, man, we want to do that. We want to get better and
16:49prove to ourselves that, you know, we're going to play at the standard that we need to play at
16:52and that we're capable of playing at. And so tonight was another opportunity is a Thursday night
16:56game and a great, great team in the Seahawks, great environment. And so for us to come out
17:01and just do our job, do it well and be efficient, I thought for all of us, it was, like I said,
17:05the right step in the right direction. And so the stuff that we still get better at. But more than
17:09anything, I'm proud of just how we all stuck together, man, as a unit. And when guys got
17:13banged up or went down, the next guy came in and did their job really well. So that's a good sign
17:17for all of us. And we just got to continue to walk this road together. That's the 49ers quarterback
17:23and leader, Brock Purdy and leader. He has really. You start thinking about him from where he came
17:34from to now. Pretty impressive, pretty impressive. This is his team. And like I that's one thing
17:41that's happened to me the last like he's he's the guy. He's the guy and everybody knows it.
17:49What do you think about that? Real quickly, a couple of injury updates from Kyle Shanahan.
17:55Malik Mustafa, low ankle sprain day to day. Matthew Wright, his shoulder was dislocated,
18:01but went back in. They'll see how it goes. Not sure if he's going to play next week. They're
18:05awaiting MRI results. Jordan Mason officially has a shoulder AC sprain. He's day to day.
18:10Ricky Pearsall planning on opening his practice window this week. And Traverius Ward. He's also
18:16day to day with his knee did not play last night was a late scratch. And finally, Christian
18:20McCaffrey. They are not opening his practice window this week. All right, but I got to believe
18:25that. I think most of those are good news. Day to day. I'll take that all day. There you go.
18:30No pun intended. But man, day to day, sprained AC joint. I was like, Oh, me being Dr. Goo.
18:36That means that McCaffrey will not play against the Chiefs.
18:41Fair enough. Fair enough. I think I think the guy who we were most worried about coming out of that
18:46game was Mason, but it looks like he avoided a serious injury. And obviously, they need Mason
18:53while McCaffrey's out. But as Evan just said, they're not opening McCaffrey's window, so he
18:59won't be playing against the Chiefs. But I don't think anybody was expecting him to play against
19:03the Chiefs anyway. I think the expectation for McCaffrey would be we'd love to have him
19:09after the bye. So we'll see. We'll see. Albert Breer said these next two or three weeks are
19:17going to be important. And we'll see how he how he responds. More Kyle Shanahan. This is on the
19:25rookies, Renardo Green and Malik Mustafa. I was huge. And I just looked like they sailed it a
19:32little bit over DK or maybe under threw it and he cut in front of him. It was a hell of a play by
19:36him. Hell of a job by Malik to get in the pick. I thought a rookie stepped up big time today,
19:40but Renardo was huge coming in for Mooney. You know, Mooney was a game time decision,
19:44tried to get him going. He tried to go, but the workout didn't go well before the game. And
19:48Renardo and the whole defense stepped it up. Goo, the 49ers had two rookies
19:55intercept the pass for the first time since 1989. You know, those guys were I do. Do you know? I was
20:05going to I'm going to hear. Well, you were running off a lot of the guys on the team from back then.
20:11Well, that was 8018. Oh, yeah. You remember Keith DeLong? Okay. And I didn't get the other one.
20:21Johnny Johnson. But still, both of those picks were huge, Donnie. And I was like,
20:24Seattle, here we go. Send in a message early going down. Mustafa gets the pick. But the late
20:30one is when that money time and the green made a great play. You think that was on? I think I
20:39asked you in real time. DK or Gino Smith was a bad throw. I thought it was overthrow. No,
20:46the last one where green stepped in front. It's kind of underthrown, right?
20:52No more green stepped in front on the last one. I was a bad throw. Well,
20:56he saw it that he said he saw it the whole way. I'll say that was kind of underthrown. If you
21:00heard him on that one. Now Kyle's critiquing the opposing quarterbacks just telling you about
21:03to play how he saw it. But a beautiful thing about our rookies, man. Shadowhead on the
21:10uh, the team win, you know, that we're sick about those two losses that we had and talk about
21:16some heart losses are harder than others. And when you feel like you had those one,
21:19especially division games, and that's made us sick about it. And, you know,
21:23we've gone on a stretch here the last two years where we want to want a lot of games in a row
21:26and a lot of the fourth quarters. And some of those win strings, these last two years,
21:29haven't been that tight on guys have been able to relax a little bit and stuff.
21:32And we've been talking about how these two losses are a reminder and how the NFL works.
21:36And I think we got a little spoiled in that way of just human nature of sometimes feeling too
21:40relaxed and you can never feel too relaxed. I thought we played real well in the second half,
21:43but that doesn't mean it's easy to win. I mean, that's how it works. We played well,
21:46they played well, they came back and made some plays, which made it tighter. And I was glad that
21:50our guys could fight through that. Realize that games are really never over where you can just
21:54sit and chill in the fourth quarter. You got to go beginning to the end and got that experience today.
21:58Kyle Shanahan talking about the wind and how they talked about the two tough losses
22:03where they blew leads. And he talked about something that I think is,
22:12I don't want to put this, I don't think we account for it. We think these guys are robots sometimes,
22:19but he talked about human nature. And I think he was right on the money.
22:26I think this team is starting to figure out how important the games are. They're getting more and
22:31more important. And I think the loss, obviously, to the Cardinals was a wake-up call. And now
22:38they're 3-3 and they hope to right the ship. I don't know what you want to call it. You want
22:45to call it a hangover. You want to call it a realization that the season's going to be very
22:50long and you got a long, long way to go. But I absolutely believe human nature is a big part
22:58of sports. And I don't think the 49ers have been at the top of their game for whatever reason.
