00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. did not miss his trip to Laos PDR
00:05and his invitation to foreign businessmen to move to the country.
00:10This was the result of convincing a company to invest in the Philippines
00:16which is expected to open opportunities to many Filipinos.

00:23President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. accepted the invitation to move to the Philippines
00:30by a company from Thailand that makes fiber cement.
00:34A manufacturing facility will be built in the Philippines,
00:37the Shera Public Company Limited, one of the largest fiber cement companies in the world.
00:43The investment is worth 2.9 billion pesos.
00:46The operation will start next year in Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
00:51According to President Ferdinand R. Marcos,
00:53this will surely result in economic growth,
00:56increased jobs, and a reduction in the Philippines' dependence on the production of products.

01:05to the Shera Public Company Limited
01:07on the sidelines of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit and related summits in Vientiane, Laos.

01:22The Philippines is an ideal hub for smart, sustainable manufacturing.
01:28So let me put on my salesman's hat for just a while
01:32and invite you to explore the investment opportunities that are on offer.
01:38This was said by the President during his visit to the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit
01:44in Vientiane, Laos, People's Democratic Republic.
01:47President R. Marcos Jr. targets companies that produce batteries,
01:52energy equipment, data centers, and agribusiness.
01:56He highlighted the Philippines' aggressive efforts
01:59in the sectors of infrastructure, manufacturing, agriculture, and digital economy
02:05that are ideal for smart and sustainable manufacturing.
02:09President R. Marcos Jr. encouraged administration programs
02:14to become one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia.
02:18For example, the construction of the Manila International Airport,
02:22the construction of island provinces, and the improvement of infrastructure.
02:27The government is also investing in fast internet and telecommunications
02:32in various provinces to provide access to remote areas.
02:36The skill of one and a half million workers in the digital economy
02:41and the implementation of the Digital National ID
02:44for the government's rapid availability of services.
02:47The Executive Board also encouraged the construction of flood control projects
02:52to prevent floods and the proliferation of renewable energy resources

03:31such as the Internet Transaction Act,
03:33reforms to the Public-Private Partnership,
03:36and the creation of the Create More Act,
03:38which gives incentives to businessmen.
03:41It also speeds up the process for those who want to start a business.
03:44Developing connectivity and resilience within ASEAN is more than just optimizing value chains.
03:51It is about upholding inclusive growth that uplifts every region, every community, and every citizen.
04:00In the second quarter of 2024,
04:03Php 189.5 billion was approved for foreign investments in the Philippines.
04:10The Marcos Administration hopes that it will create a more vibrant economy
04:15and provide more opportunities and jobs for Filipinos.
