00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. of Camaguilan's ASEAN Business and Investment Summit in Laos was expected to bear fruit this year.
00:13This was said by GoNegotio founder Joey Concepcion, who is also with the President, who attended the event.
00:20He emphasized the importance of the government and private sector, especially in the ASEAN Food Security Alliance with the Laos PDR, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, and others from the ASEAN region.
00:38Concepcion also explained that through such alliances, the Philippines will be able to strengthen the agricultural sector, especially when it comes to increasing production to ensure food security.
00:56According to Concepcion, the Summit also discussed the need for big agri-companies overseas to use the land owned by local agri-companies for the expansion of the agricultural sector,
01:17where it is expected to help the beneficiaries of the agrarian reform in the country through cooperatives and local farmers.
01:29The target is to start a joint venture and partnership in 2025, where Concepcion is also hoping that in the first phase of the Philippines in 2026, the full implementation of the so-called alliance with the ASEAN will be realized.
01:49We have the best opportunity because if we don't scale up our small farmers, we will never eradicate poverty in the agricultural sector.
02:01So we have to give them growth, we have to make them succeed, and we will have a more vibrant economy.
02:11We have so many farmers, so imagine if we increase the income that they generate, the country will gain out of that, there will be greater prosperity.
