00:00The economic managers of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:04have made it easier for foreign businessmen to enter the country.
00:08Because the obstacles in the settlement of foreign businessmen in offshore wind projects have been removed.
00:13Here is the center of the news.
00:17The administration will strengthen the settlement of foreign businessmen in the country.
00:22After the economic team of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:26removed the obstacles in the settlement of foreign businessmen in offshore wind projects in the country.
00:32Through the joint efforts of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources
00:37and the Department of Energy after their signing of a Memorandum of Agreement
00:41that requires the use of offshore and auxiliary areas
00:45that are covered by the contracts for the service of offshore wind energy
00:49that will further strengthen the establishment of renewable energy resources in the country.
00:54According to Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs, Secretary Frederick Goh,
00:59the so-called agreement on the obstacles in the establishment of offshore wind projects
01:04from faraway countries will be met.
01:06The process of following the guidelines of the environment will be easier
01:12especially that it will pave the way to resolve the limitation of foreign ownership of public land
01:17which is one of the main interests of foreign investors.
01:20In addition, it will pave the way for the strengthening of the potential of the Philippines as an investment hub
01:27while strengthening the renewable energy of the country
01:30which is one of the priorities of the administration in the exploration and development of the economy.
01:35And because of this agreement, the Philippines will be able to encourage foreign investments in offshore projects
01:41that will help the country in its development.
01:43Before the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement,
01:45the government allowed the sector of renewable energy to allow 100% ownership of foreign land
01:51which drew interest from foreign residents.
01:54But it became clear to potential investors of offshore wind projects
01:58that the 40% limitation of foreign equity in public land, exploration, development, and utilization of natural resources
02:06is a reason for the need for the support of local partners to realize the projects of the residents.
02:13But through this agreement, which gives the DOE the right to use the allocated locations for offshore wind energy projects,
02:21foreign residents will be able to access the places needed for the authorized activities of offshore wind through the DOE.
02:31Kenneth Paciente, for Pambansang TV, in Bagong, Philippines.
