00:00Yes, my friends, today I'm going to review the Samsung Galaxy A53.
00:06From its exterior year design to the processor, going through all of its cameras to find out
00:11if after more than one year, this phone is still worth it.
00:15As always, we're going to start by talking a little bit about the price.
00:18Right now the A53 is available for about $350 on Amazon, which obviously like in every video
00:25I left a direct link in the description so you can check it out.
00:29Plus it's a lot cheaper, a lot cheaper than the price you'll find on the official Samsung
00:34store.
00:35Of course, this phone is made out of plastic and plastic and even more plastic, just like
00:40every other phone in this price range.
00:42But everything said, it does feel very good in your hands and it has a nice looking design,
00:47which kind of makes up for all that plastic.
00:49It has the Exynos 1280 processor, which is a mid-range chipset made by Samsung for Samsung
00:55phones, and that will give you exactly what you would expect for $350.
01:00To use social media apps, to take pictures or play some casual games, this phone will
01:05be more than enough.
01:06And you can also play any demanding 3D games you want, and you will have a good experience
01:11unless you want to play at ultra settings at 120 FPS, because that kind of performance
01:17is exclusive to the highest end phones.
01:19In fact, I would say the only difference that the A53 has with every other high-end phone
01:25is that it doesn't have a lot of leftover power, meaning the A53 has just about enough
01:32for you to use all the apps and all the games with a nice experience, but it doesn't have
01:36any leftover extra performance for, you know, the next upcoming years.
01:41So right now, there's not a big difference in performance with the S22 or the S23, but
01:47in two, three, four years, you will notice that difference because those other phones
01:51have leftover power and the A53 doesn't.
01:54Of course, it also has a very decent battery life.
01:57I would even say amongst the best I've ever seen because, as you can see, it lasted a
02:01whopping nine hours of continuous use before turning off, which is absolutely insane.
02:07And let me clarify something.
02:09This phone has an absolutely insane battery life, as I said, it's amongst the best I've
02:14ever seen, but that's exactly what I can say about every other phone in this price range.
02:20Low to mid-range phones nowadays have amazing battery lives, all of them.
02:24So even though this phone has, yes, insane good battery life, I don't want you to think
02:31this is exclusive to this phone.
02:33Every mid-range phone has a very good battery life, more or less.
02:37Of course, this phone compared to the other ones is a little bit better, it's on the higher
02:41end of mid-range phones in terms of battery life, but they all have very good battery
02:45lives.
02:46And we move on to the display, which is probably one of the strongest points on this phone
02:51It has a 6.5-inch OLED display with a very well calibrated panel, very good colors, 120
02:57FPS and 800 nits of brightness.
03:00It is a very, very good panel that's just below what you'll find on a high-end phone
03:05like the S22, with the only difference that it only has 800 nits of brightness instead
03:11of 1200 on the S22, which is noticeable.
03:15It's not huge, it's something that you'll notice, but it's not something that's going
03:18to make the phone unusable.
03:20I have a 625-nit brightness phone and it's perfect, so 800 is good.
03:25It's just a little less nice in the summer than a 1200-nit brightness phone, but still,
03:30for a mid-range phone, all these specs are absolutely insane.
03:33And of course, it's time to talk about the most important components on this phone, the
03:38cameras, because of course, like in every modern phone, there's multiple cameras.
03:42We have a 64-megapixel main sensor, which is the one that I'm using to record this video
03:46right now with 4K, 30 FPS, and it's very good, as you can see in video and in dynamic
03:52range detail, it's a pretty good camera.
03:54We also have a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, and of course, like in every Samsung phone,
04:00we have, let's just call it marketing cameras.
04:03We have a periscope camera and we have a depth camera, which are horrible.
04:08They have horrible quality, you're never going to use them, they give no additional focal
04:14length or anything you're going to use.
04:15But still, in practical terms, they are only there to improve the quality of the other
04:19two main cameras.
04:21But anyways, let's move on to the most important part of the camera section, which is the photos.
04:26As always, I'm going to show you a bunch of photos from the main sensor, the ultrawide
04:29sensor, with some nice background music, zooming in so you can see the details, and then I'll
04:34come back to talk about the selfies.
06:15Okay, what did you think?
06:45Very impressive results, in my personal opinion.
06:47I think the main camera is surprisingly good, it's almost as good as a Samsung Galaxy S22
06:53or S23.
06:54Very, very good.
06:55Pro tip for everybody that's going to buy this phone, don't take the pictures with the
06:5964-megapixel mode, because in that mode, the megapixels are so small, the light doesn't
07:04really get in properly, and there's not a lot of detail, unless you're in perfect lighting
07:08conditions.
07:09So normally, and the photos you've seen before, are all taken with the quad-pixel mode, which
07:15is basically a mode that combines pixels 4x4, so there's bigger pixels, and they let
07:21in more light, and there's more detail, so it's, in practical terms, 18-megapixel photos.
07:26A lot of people don't know this, but if you just want to click the button and take the
07:29picture, less megapixels, a lot of times, it's better because the pixels are bigger,
07:34and they let in more light, and they more easily allow you to take a good picture, so
07:39that's my advice.
07:40So yeah, adding up all these points, I think the A53 is absolutely worth it for the money.
07:46There's other phones, of course, and depending on your needs, you may or may not find those
07:50other phones better, but if you like what this phone offers, if you like the strengths
07:55on this phone, and you think this is the one for you, trust me on this one, you're not
07:59going to be disappointed.
08:00For the price it has, and for what it offers, it's a very good deal, so I'm going to say
08:05it one more time, yes, I'm sorry, one more time, it has a very good price on Amazon,
08:09we have a direct link in the description.
