00:00Welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. Thundery showers
00:04around through Monday evening. Some big downpours in places. Spray surface water
00:09on the roads and lightning and hail an extra hazard as well as these heavy
00:13downpours spread their way across southern England, parts of South Wales, up
00:17towards the Midlands. So yes, do take note if you are heading out on the roads
00:21this Monday evening. Not very pleasant out there and the heavy showers will
00:25drift northwards, tending to ease off a little bit through the night but turning
00:29pretty wet over parts of East Anglia. By the end of the night, Northern England
00:33and parts of Northern Ireland too. Staying fairly damp across northern
00:36Scotland. Notice where the winds are coming from here, bringing colder air in
00:40across Shetland. Elsewhere, it's quite mild actually. Temperatures holding up in
00:44double figures, maybe even in the teens in some towns and cities. But clearer
00:47skies in southern Scotland, northern England mean we'll dip down into single
00:50figures in the countryside here. On to Tuesday. It is again a mix of sunshine
00:56and showers but probably more showers than sunshine. A bright start for some
01:00but the heavy showers getting going over Wales, southern England again. You can see
01:05the swirl here. That's an area of low pressure just generating the showers
01:08pushing northwards. We've also got this band of thicker cloud sitting over northern
01:12England, northern Ireland and southern Scotland for much of the day without
01:16breaks of rain. Northern England should brighten up but then the showers will
01:19move in here too. Not quite as damp over northern Scotland as it's been through
01:24Monday but still staying pretty grey here with those winds coming down from
01:27the north. That is going to bring a chill. Temperatures struggling here to get much
01:31above 10, 11, 12 Celcius. Feeling colder with the wind. Whereas for the south
01:36actually when it brightens up between the showers, temperatures could pop up
01:40into the mid to high teens. 18, 19 is possible but the showers won't be too
01:44far away. Quite a gusty wind blowing as well, particularly across the south coast
01:48of England and into southern parts of Wales. Especially gusty close to these
01:53showers which become even more widespread through Tuesday afternoon and
01:56evening. Further heavy downpours again over central and eastern parts. Again a
02:00lot of spray, a lot of surface water on the roads. The possibility of further
02:04flooding. The rain continues to fall into parts of eastern Scotland,
02:08particularly the southeast as that breeze continues to come down from the
02:12north. Quite a lively wind at times across the southeast of England. So you
02:16can see by now the swirl. That's the low pressure. It's crossed the UK but it's
02:21still bringing heavy showers into Wednesday. Probably a drier day in
02:25southern England, south Wales and parts of Northern Ireland. Cheering up too
02:28across Scotland with some sunshine. But southeast Scotland, northeast England
02:32staying dull and staying damp and feeling even cooler with that wind
02:36coming in from the North Sea. Temperatures well 12, 13 at best and
02:40feeling colder with the wind. Only single digits across parts of northern
02:44Scotland. Again in the south with a bit of brightness you might squeak into the
02:47high teens. But the northerly wind is coming for all parts. That swirl, that
02:52area of low pressure will be clearing away. But further south this is the
02:57remnants of Hurricane Kirk. Now named Storm Kirk by the French Weather
03:01Service because it's going to bring them some very strong winds and heavy rain.
03:04Northern parts of Spain and Portugal will also be seeing some very wet and
03:09windy conditions on Wednesday as this storm system moves through. It's going to
03:14spread its way into France across the Bay of Biscay during Wednesday night.
03:18Those isobars really squeezing together. So potential for some very strong winds
03:22here as it moves in. It then does head its way northwards. Gets close to the UK
03:27but at the moment it's likely to stay to the south and that generates a northerly
03:32wind right across the UK. So turning colder for us as that storm system moves
03:37through. For more details on the full week ahead make sure you hit subscribe
