00:00Aside from harassing the ships of China to our troops who are guarding our territory in the West Philippine Sea,
00:08there is another problem that is emerging.
00:10These are the trash that was found in Pagasa Island that has Chinese markings.
00:16Bernard Ferrer is at the center of the news.
00:20While approaching Pagasa Island,
00:22the PTV News vehicle of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources of the People's Liberation Army Navy Vessel
00:32which is bound number 576 was stopped.
00:35Later, the Philippine Coast Guard Station Kalayaan Island Group had a radio challenge
00:41to the China Coast Guard Vessel which is bound number 5101
00:45which is only 3.1 nautical miles away from our ship.
00:495101, this is Philippine Coast Guard.
00:51Your presence here is not authorized under the national law.
00:54Please leave the area immediately.
00:57You are not authorized to conduct any maritime activity in this area. Over.
01:02Despite this, we were able to reach Pagasa Island safely
01:06after almost two days of sailing from Bataan.
01:10We were also accompanied by two more ships, BRP Datu Bangkaw and BRP Datu Rumapenit.
01:16On my way around, I saw the beauty of Pagasa Island
01:20far from the activities of China in the West Philippine Sea.
01:25In this white sand, you might think that we are at White Sand Beach of Boracay.
01:30But no, we are at Pagasa Island.
01:34White sand, there are shells.
01:38And the best part is, the water is clean.
01:42If you are a tourist, you will surely enjoy the hidden beauty of Pagasa Island.
01:48But despite the beauty of the island, they face a problem.
01:53The garbage.
01:55It is not surprising because we can see that they have vessels there.
02:03So maybe, they throw the garbage here in our coastal area.
02:14In the coastal cleanup, 36 bags of garbage were collected by volunteers in the basin.
02:20Some of them are plastic bottles with Chinese characters.
02:24Because of this, the waste management on the island continues to take care of the natural beauty
02:30especially the development of the island.
02:33In the early morning, BRP Datu Paguaya and BRP Datu Rumapenit patrolled the Sandy Cay.
02:39The China Coast Guard and Chinese militia vessels guarded the island
02:43especially near the Sandy Cay in Sudiri where they made an artificial island.
02:48We are currently on the BRP Datu Paguaya of B4.
02:52And we are being pushed by the China Coast Guard by bow number 5101.
02:59We are now in the part of the Sandy Cay in the West Philippine Sea.
03:05The China Coast Guard is 20 to 30 meters near our ship.
03:10It made a dangerous maneuvering in front of the BRP Datu Paguaya.
03:15We were surrounded by helicopters and rubber boats of China several times.
03:19Our comrade BRP Datu Rumapenit did the same.
03:22After one day of patrolling and patrolling the Sandy Cay,
03:26we headed to Iroquois Reef.
03:29We are now here in Iroquois Reef in the West Philippine Sea.
03:32And our ship, BRP Datu Paguaya of B4, is refueling at the Filipino Fisheries Bank.
03:41Aside from diesel, B4 will also provide food to our countrymen
03:45especially since they have been here for more than a week.
03:49The weather here in Iroquois Reef is good.
03:51That's why you can see some Chinese militias in the distance.
03:56The government is very thankful for the diesel and food provided
04:00because it will greatly help them to last longer.
04:04They have been blocked by the China Coast Guard several times.
04:07That's why sometimes it's hard for them to catch fish.
04:11Their livelihood is in danger.
04:13It's very important because it's the backbone of our lives.
04:15That's why our family lives.
04:17That's why it's very important to us.
04:19We also went to the Reed Bank.
04:21We noticed that there are more of our countrymen fishing
04:25because there are no China Coast Guard and Chinese militia patrolling them.
04:29According to Eleuterio, even though there are no Chinese in the area,
04:33it's still hard for them to catch fish because there are a lot of fishermen in the area.
04:38Right now, we have caught around 500 kilos of fish.
04:42We have been here for 7 days.
04:45We have been fishing here for a long time.
04:47We have been fishing here for a long time.
04:50The BFAR mission in the West Philippine Sea has been a success.
04:54Especially in Pag-asa Island, Sandekay, Iroquois Reef, and Reed Bank.
04:59They did this to find out the condition of the Filipino mines
05:03and the Philippines' sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea.
05:08Bernard Ferrer for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
