00:00Typhoon Henare did its number on the provinces of the Cordilleras and up north in Cagayan Valley
00:05and Batanes. Bottom line, the damage and devastation it visited was a lot way less
00:11than the widespread devastation Carina and Enteng did. Our Benji Durango filed this report
00:18on the extent of the damage in Isabela and Nueva Vizcaya. The strong currents of the Cagayan River
00:26are now pounding this overflow bridge which is the closest route from Cagayan Isabela to
00:30Santa Maria. However, the river level has risen rapidly completely submerging the roadway.
00:44Due to the danger, the bridge has been closed to vehicles for a week now. There's another higher
00:48bridge that light and smaller vehicles can cross but close to larger vehicles that need to take a
00:53longer detour. As for Mang Nino who collects driftwood for firewood, he says he'll take his
00:58chances rather than take the longer route. This is just one of nine overflow bridges closely
01:09monitored by Isabela's PDRRMO. When this bridge went under floodwaters, it means only one thing,
01:16a huge surge in water level of the Cagayan River due to runoff from the Sierra Madre and Cordillera
01:21Mountains on top of the water released from Magatdam. It slightly overflowed earlier but the
01:26water level didn't rise much further. So the only logical conclusion is that it rained a little.
01:35Typhoon Gener made landfall today in Palanan Isabela. 36 people were evacuated but they were
01:40able to return home shortly after the typhoon passed. There was no significant damage apart
01:46from a small amount of agricultural loss which is still being assessed. Still cannot explain but
01:50we're thankful that it happened. The damage to the crops is negligible. Just four figures,
02:01seven thousand something, that's all I saw. Across region two, two provinces were most affected by
02:06Typhoon Gener. However Nueva Vizcaya had the most evacuated residents. One barangay was affected
02:12in Ambagyo, six in Bambang, one barangay in Dupax del Norte and four barangays in Solano. In total,
02:19over 600 families or more than 1,700 people were affected. Several families were stranded
02:25in Ambagyo, Nueva Vizcaya due to a landslide. Meanwhile, seven houses were destroyed by the
02:31typhoon in the town of Bambang. In response, the DSWD quickly mobilized delivering pre-positioned
02:37family food packs worth over 300,000 pesos. Batanes, another area affected by the typhoon,
02:43also received relief goods swiftly. Benji Durango, from the National TV, for a new and better Philippine.
