00:06Police have charged a man with five sexual offences on Morecambe Promenade following
00:11reports made to them last week. The offences were against three girls under 16.
00:18Dean Moroney, 34, of Marine Road East, Morecambe, appeared before Lancaster magistrates on September
00:245th and was remanded to appear at Preston Crown Court on October 3rd.
00:31A man in his 50s from Preston has been charged with attempted murder after a British Transport
00:38Police officer was stabbed. At around 9.30pm on Saturday, the officer was on duty when
00:44he was seriously assaulted. The man was taken to hospital and treated for his injuries,
00:49which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
00:53Russell Smith, 53, of Shakespeare Road, Preston, has been charged with one count of attempted
00:59murder and one count of possession of a bladed article. He was due to appear at Preston Magistrates
01:05on Monday morning.
01:08Plans for a new driving test centre on the Fylde Coast have been unveiled. Last week,
01:13a planning application was submitted to Fylde Council for Unit 8, the pavilions on Avro
01:18Crescent in Lytham St Anne's, seeking a change of use from offices to driving test
01:23centre. The application was submitted by the Driving Standards Agency, the department for
01:30transport agency responsible for carrying out driving tests amongst a variety of road
01:34safety concerns. The 153.94m2 site is currently vacant but was last used as the offices for
01:44a marketing agency called Huddle Media.
01:48A cricket club is set to sell off two chunks of land so that five upmarket houses can be
01:54built and put cash into the kitty to save it from extinction. The committee of Standish
01:59Cricket Club wants to use the money raised to replace its dilapidated pavilion which
02:04was badly damaged in a flood in 2021 caused by a burst pipe. They also want to renew their
02:10practice facilities and upgrade the car park. The proposal has prompted objections from
02:15Sport England over the potential loss of playing field space.
02:21The police have conducted a joint operation against vehicles being parked on the highway
02:25in Burnley with no tax. Officers from Burnley Neighbourhood Policing Team, the DVLA and
02:31Burnley Council addressed concerns in Dane's House with Stoneyholm around vehicles being
02:36left in situ without tax causing residential streets to become overcrowded. Police recovered
02:4315 vehicles without tax from the roads.
02:47As for the weather, today it's windy with rain moving south followed by sunshine and
