00:00The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is tracking down an influential immigration officer

00:06suspected of being linked to a syndicate bringing foreign nationals into the country through

00:11the nation's entry points.

00:13MACC chief Azam Baky said the officer is believed to have gone into hiding as soon as investigations

00:19began, but remains confident that the suspect is still in the country.

00:23He said that although the officer doesn't hold a high-ranking position, he is believed

00:27to wield considerable influence among the personnel at KLIA, Braid the High End reported.

00:32MACC previously uncovered a syndicate involving enforcement officers who facilitated the illegal

00:38entry of foreign nationals from several countries without proper immigration checks.

00:43Following the arrest of 12 individuals, including three women, MACC seized luxury vehicles believed

00:49to belong to the officers involved.

00:52The anti-graft agency will summon 46 more people for questioning as part of its ongoing

00:56investigation.
