00:00The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested 37 enforcement officers for allegedly
00:08accepting bribes from a human trafficking syndicate.
00:11The syndicate has been accused of bringing foreign nationals into the country through
00:16air routes.
00:17MACC Chief Azam Baky said 27 men and 10 women were arrested in an operation carried out
00:24yesterday in Kuala Lumpur, Kelantan, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang and Johor.
00:31All officers are being investigated under Section 17A of the MACC Act 2009 for accepting
00:38gratification.
00:39Azam said MACC also found cash worth RM1 million during the operation, believed to be bribes
00:46from a group that smuggles foreigners through KLIA Terminals 1 and 2.
00:52Previously, the agency uncovered a syndicate involved in smuggling foreigners through
00:57the country's entry points without undergoing checks by immigration.
