00:00ASEAN Business Advisory Council Chairman Nazir Razak said economic ties often come with conditions,

00:08but such strings with China are easier to deal with than those with the U.S.

00:14Nazir said it is the norm for China to impose conditions on its relationships with smaller

00:20nations like Thailand and Malaysia.

00:23He also expressed optimism about the future of economic integration in the region, saying

00:29ASEAN has learned the hard way about what it should and should not do.

00:34He said the region needs to be creative in its integration efforts, reiterating the Council's

00:39push for the ASEAN Business Entity concept.

00:43The ABE framework will see the introduction of a new category of businesses that can be

00:49officially recognized by ASEAN governments.

00:52ABE-certified companies will also benefit from greater freedom, such as the ability

00:58to move personnel and operations across borders within the ASEAN region without the typical

01:05restrictions.
