00:00Former UMNO Supreme Council member Isham Jalil's request to withdraw contempt of court proceedings
00:07over comments related to former Prime Minister Najib Razak's 1NUP cases has been rejected
00:11by the Attorney General.
00:14Deputy Public Prosecutor Mustafa Kunyalam informed Justice Nurin Bidaruddin of this
00:18decision during case management.
00:21Isham must respond to the AG's affidavit by July 31st and both parties are to submit
00:26their written arguments by October 1st, with oral submissions set for October 14th.
00:32On April 23rd, Akram said lawyers appearing for Isham had sent representations to the
00:36AG in a bid to bring the matter to a close.
00:40Isham had previously offered to make an unreserved apology to avoid the contempt proceedings.
00:45Nurin had previously determined a Prima Fasci case existed against Isham, allowing the AG
00:50to initiate contempt proceedings on March 4th.
