00:00Many citizens took to social media to complain that the services provided by the civil service
00:07remained the same. Chief Secretary to the Government Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said this
00:12following Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's announcement that civil servants will be
00:16getting salary increments of between 7% and 15% under the new public service remuneration system
00:23from December this year. Shamsul said Malaysians were craving better service from the public sector
00:28calling for civil servants to show greater dedication to their work and not be absent
00:32from duty during office hours. He also said it was important for public servants to display
00:37more charisma in the workplace especially since the public can easily record their behavior.
00:43Meanwhile, Shamsul urged other agencies to follow the Road Transport Department's decision
00:48following the wage increase to extend its counter hours on Mondays and Fridays.
00:53Other agencies should follow suit to prove that better service accompanies better pay, he said.
